The 2014 Christmas & New Year Scouting Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Having returned to the forum, I felt like there seemed to be a lack of posting compared to the heyday five or so years ago, especially in the scouting section of the forum, as there has been less sharing and cooperation between forumers.

So, in the five year anniversary of my Christmas and New Year Scouting Special, I will reintroduce the scouting thread with a compilation of scouting from all around the world, ranging from the English Premier League to the Norwegian League. This will not be a large post like last time, but it will be in installations of separate posts. Please feel free to comment on the thread and give your own opinions!

Thank you and good luck!

Re: The 2014 Christmas & New Year Scouting Thread

ENGLAND

THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Damian Martinez – GK – 22 – 78 – Arsenal

With injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina, Martinez has been thrust into the action, and has performed well in all of his appearances for Arsenal so far, having played in both the Champions League and the Premier League, where he has started four games and appeared as a substitute once. 78=>80

Calum Chambers – D – 19 – 85 – Arsenal

Calum Chambers has performed consistently since his 16m move from Southampton in the summer transfer window, and he has become an important part of Arsenal’s defence, especially with the injuries to Mathieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny. In the Premier League, Chambers has played in 13 games for 1128 minutes and scored a goal. Chambers’ performances for Arsenal have also led to call-ups to the England National Team, and he now has 3 caps. 85=>87

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – M – 21 – 88 – Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to mature as a footballer as he continues to grow as a footballer, both for Arsenal and England. His performances have been steady and impressive, and he has amassed one goal in 870 minutes of action in the Premier League, and he has also featured extensively in the Champions League, and for England this season. 88=>89

Alan Hutton – D – 30 – 85 – Aston Villa

After two seasons of being frozen out by Paul Lambert, Alan Hutton has regained his place in the starting lineup, and has performed well in his role so far, and it seems like he has regained the trust of his manager and teammates. Alan Hutton has started 11 games and clocked up 1044 minutes so far this season. 85=>86

Gary Cahill – D – 28 – 91 – Chelsea

Gary Cahill has been an automatic first choice for both Chelsea and England for a few seasons now, and he continues his fine form with his partnership with John Terry. Together, they have formed the perfect shield in front of Thibaut Courtois, and provide one of the stingiest defences in the Premier League. Gary Cahill has started all 14 games this season, clocking up 1279 minutes and scoring one goal. 91=>92

John Terry – D – 33 – 91 – Chelsea

John Terry has bounced back from a poor season a few years ago as well as public criticism to continue to be one of the Premier League’s finest defenders. He is still a commanding figure in the heart of the Chelsea defence, and he is one of two only players to have played every single minute for league leaders Chelsea. 91=>92

Nemanja Matic – M – 26 – 91 – Chelsea

The other person to have featured in every single minute so far this season is Nemanja Matic. It can be argued that he is in fact one of the most important players for them this season. His fine performances contribute greatly to the unbeaten run of Chelsea so far, and he has also added a goal to his name this season. 91=>92

Yannick Bolasie – M –25 – 85 – Crystal Palace

Yannick Bolasie has been one of Crystal Palace’s best players so far this season. He offers a dynamic option down the wing, and has terrorized many a full back this season. His performances probably show us that he is among one of Palace’s three best performers, as he has contributed a goal in 14 appearances and 1227 minutes this season. 85=>86

Mile Jedinak – M – 30 – 87 – Crystal Palace

Although he is already the highest rated player at Crystal Palace, Mile Jedinak is arguably their best player, and his performances as club captain this season have been fantastic, as he is their top goalscorer from midfield with five goals in 1249 minutes so far this season. 87=>88

Steven Naismith – F – 27 – 87 – Everton

Steven Naismith has proven that he is an important part for both Everton and Scotland, as he continues his good form through this season, especially with Romelu Lukaku’s injury in the earlier parts of the season. He is Everton’s second best goalscorer with 4 goals so far this season in the Premier League, in just under 1000 minutes of action. 87=>88

Andy Robertson – D – 20 – 83 – Hull City

Andy Robertson’s rise has been fast and it doesn’t seem like it is stopping anytime soon. His performances get more and more impressive as he matures and his understanding for the game improves. Robertson has not only impressed for Hull with 12 appearances this season, but he has also impressed for Scotland, where he managed to score the consolation goal against England in a friendly fixture. 83=>84/85

Jake Livermore – M – 25 – 85 – Hull City

Jake Livermore has perhaps now become Hull’s most important midfielder, often working well alongside Tom Huddlestone and Mohamed Diame in Steve Bruce’s side. He is one of two players in Bruce’s squad to have started all 14 games so far, and he has clocked up 1316 minutes and bagged a goal for himself too. 85=>86

Javier Manquillo – D – 20 – 83 – Liverpool

The on-loan youngster has been competing with Glen Johnson and Alberto Moreno for a starting full-back spot in Liverpool’s line up, and seemingly has earned a preference with Brendan Rodgers. His performances have been inconsistent and spotty in his nine starts so far, but he has had his sparks, including winning the penalty against Ludogorets at Anfield earlier this season. His future looks bright, but he still has a lot to learn. 83=>85

Raheem Sterling – F – 19 – 89 – Liverpool

By far Liverpool’s best player this season and recently praised by Xavi as one of the only two English players that could play for Barcelona. His performances this season have not been as consistent as last season’s, but he has now become the centre of attention for the opposition’s defensive plans, but he has continued to impress the Anfield faithful, with three goals so far this season in 1246 minutes of action. Raheem Sterling has also contributed in the national team setup, where he is considered an integral part of Roy Hodgson’s plans. 89=>90

Patrick McNair – D – 19 – 76 – Manchester United

Patrick McNair has filled in formidably during United’s recent defensive crisis, and has played well so far in his 424 minutes of action spread across five appearances. It looks like the Northern Irishman has a bright future at Old Trafford with him, but it may be that his playing opportunities may decrease in the near future. 76=>79

Tyler Blackett – D – 20 – 78 – Manchester United

Tyler Blackett has also been filling in for the Manchester United defence, although it does seem that Louis Van Gaal prefers Blackett to McNair, as he has appeared in seven games this season and seen 589 minutes of action. 78=>81

Paul Dummett – D – 23 – 82 – Newcastle United

The young Welsh defender has proven that he is one of Newcastle United’s top choices in defence, having gained Alan Pardew’s trust and started in twelve games so far this season. He has looked much more impressive than some of Newcastle’s other defenders, so we would expect Dummett to continue to cement his starting spot. 82=>85

Ayoze Perez – F – 21 – 84 – Newcastle United

The Spanish youngster has impressed since his summer move from Tenerife, but he has yet to cement a starting lineup in Alan Pardew’s team. However, he still remains the second best goalscorer for Newcastle, having netted three times so far this season in just 569 minutes of action, showing that he should perhaps be playing more often. 84=>85

Charlie Austin – F – 25 – 84 – QPR

Charlie Austin has been the lone bright spot so far this season for a dire QPR team. He has been extremely impressive, however, having netted seven times so far this season in thirteen starts and 1175 minutes. He is QPR’s lone option up front, having netted more than half of the team’s goals this seasons. 84=>86

Nathaniel Clyne – D – 23 – 87 – Southampton

Nathaniel Clyne has arguably been England’s best right back so far this season, and he has definitely been a revelation so far at Southampton. He has played every single minute so far this season, and has already scored twice, showing his offensive abilities as well. He has been rewarded with his first two caps for the England National Team. 87=>88/89

Ryan Bertrand – D – 25 – 87 – Southampton

Ryan Bertrand has been similarly prolific down the other flank, and he has proven to be a shrewd loan signing by Ronald Koeman. Together with Nathaniel Clyne, Bertrand provides a new dimension to the Saints attack, allowing them to be a more dangerous opposition. Bertrand himself has also contributed a goal this season in his fourteen starts. 87=>88

Jose Fonte – D – 30 – 87 – Southampton

With Dejan Lovren struggling to make an impact at Liverpool after his 20m move this summer, we may have come to the realization that the success of the Southampton defence may be because of Jose Fonte. The Portuguese man continues to be a rock in the centre of defence and command a strong and solid unit. 87=>88

Gylfi Sigurdsson – M – 25 – 88 – Swansea City

The Icelandic’s return to Wales has proven to be beneficial to both him and the club as Sigurdsson has been playing fantastic football. Him and Wilfried Bony have struck up a great understanding, and together they are playing great football. He has scored twice so far this season in fourteen starts, and continues to impress for both Swansea and Iceland. 88=>89

Eric Dier – D – 20 – 83 – Tottenham Hotspur

Dier started the season in fine form, where he was even the top scorer in the Premier League in the early stages. His goals may have dried up, but he continues to play a part in the Spurs team, having started eight teams and appeared as a substitute three more times, totaling 809 minutes and contributing two goals. 83=>85

Ryan Mason – M – 23 – 78 – Tottenham Hotspur

Ryan Mason has proven to be a promising young talent for Spurs. Having spent the last season on loan at Swindon Town, Mason has finally been giving an opportunity under Mauricio Pochettino, and the manager has taken a liking to the midfielder, having provided him with 9 starts and 796 minutes so far this season. 78=>83

Harry Kane – F – 21 – 83 - Tottenham Hotspur

With all of Spurs other forwards misfiring, they may have to rely on Harry Kane more in the future. His impressive performances in the Europa League have been rewarded with more game time in the Premier League, but the young Englishman needs to prove to be more consistent, and so far only has two goals in 10 appearances in the Premier League. 83=>85

Andre Wisdom – D – 21 – 83 – West Bromwich Albion

With Liverpool’s issues at right back, they may be regretting their decision to send Andre Wisdom out on loan to West Brom, where the youngster has started 13 games and clocked up 1232 minutes, and has proven to be a top talent and important part of the West Brom team. 83=>85

Diafra Sakho – F – 24 – 83 – West Ham United

The Senegal striker has proven to be Sam Allardyce’s favorite striker, however, injuries have hampered some of Sakho’s performances and limited him to only 8 games so far this season, but he has also been able to bag five goals in only 680 minutes. 83=>85

THE CHAMPIONSHIP

David Davis – M – 23 – 78 – Birmingham City

Re: The 2014 Christmas & New Year Scouting Thread

Hi all' date='

Great job' date=' Tom!

Let me just add Damien da Silva (80), from Caen. He has 1350 minutes of game time this season.

A +3 would be fair imo.[/quote']

Hi Pedro,

That was an oversight from me - I thought the team had already reviewed Caen so I didn't even bother taking a look, and yes it does look likely that he will achieve a +3 this season.

No worries, mate.

Here's the funny part: I have him in 2 of my teams. But I checked the forum and made that post, before consulting my SM clubs.

It turned out that Damien's rating had already been reviewed and he did get a +3. :o:D

Well done to SW on that one!

What about Sabitzer (Red Bull in Austria) 20yo first season at a big club and 9 goals in 18 games. 83 - 85 !

Yes I believe I did miss out on that one.

Re: The 2014 Christmas & New Year Scouting Thread

ENGLAND

THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Damian Martinez – GK – 22 – 78 – Arsenal

With injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina' date=' Martinez has been thrust into the action, and has performed well in all of his appearances for Arsenal so far, having played in both the Champions League and the Premier League, where he has started four games and appeared as a substitute once. [b']78=>80[/b]
