Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows

THE STORY.

In this day and age when all the top leagues have this sense of predictability about them, a new dawn will eventually be upon us.

THE STORY SO FAR.

Since the original Rags to Riches has now been won and with an international version well under the way I had no intention of releasing a version 3, however such was the success of the original with those managers who were left, I decided to release a version III which will be closer to the original.

THE CONCEPT.

Is a simple one, there will be 5 divisions each consisting of 18 English and Welsh clubs. I will use the top 72 clubs in terms of league position as the real life tables currently stand. So the top 18 clubs will be in Division 1, the remaining 2 plus 16 clubs from the Championship in Division 2 and so on.

Starting with original squads and a transfer budget of £20 million the aim is simple, to take your team from the lower leagues to Division 1, a difficult task in itself. However to be named the "Ultimate Manager" you will need to complete the following:

~ Win Division 1
~ Win the Domestic Cup*
~ Win the Domestic Shield*

*Please note that until the set up is created I am not entirely sure if there will be two domestic cups since there will only be 18 managed clubs.

In the unlikely event that a manager wins one of the Domestic Cups outside of Division 1, this does count towards your trophy tally.

Please note as this is extremely important that you can only spend 5 million out of your budget every season (plus sales) for the first four seasons. So the rule is this:

~ Season 1- Spend anything you have over 15m
(You start with 20m, so that gives you 5m for the season).
~ Season 2 - Spend anything you have above 10m.
~ Season 3 - Can spend anything you have above 5m.
~ Season 4 onwards - can spend whatever funds you have.

Unlike in the original all managers will start in division 5, the amount of clubs managed will be 18, those 18 are the top 16 in the Conference plus Worcester City and Farsley who were requested by managers.

There will be 3 clubs automatically promoted with the clubs who finish in 4th to 7th spot battling it out in the play-offs.

Please note that some clubs may not have the required 21 players, with many only having one player so no transfers will be allowed until after your chairman brings in the required amount of players, (before the first friendly.)

I appreciate that players are chosen at random and as a consequence it could significantly increase squad values, however it is unlikely to significantly raise the squad values though it is only fairs to make you all aware of this from the onset.

For those of you who would like to familiarise yourselves with the original idea click here.

So there we have it, I am hoping that if you like a real challenge where being a great manager is not enough but a great tactician, strategist and scout as well as being able to run a club on a financial shoe string will be of great importance, with a definitive goal which is to be the best then this set up will appeal to you.

There can only be one winner, do you think you have what it takes to be crowned the best?

Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows

What's the difference with the 2nd version?

The third version is based more on the original so it will be just English clubs' date=' it seems that those that lasted for the duration of the original are really disappointed that it is over after building such star studded squads, and had stated in game a version 3 based on the original would be welcome, so here we are.[/font']

Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows

The teams will be by draw or choose?

I am allowing successful managers to choose there own club if it is not listed as long as it is a non league English/British based club. I will decide the fairest way to go about this closer to the time.

AWESOME!! :D:D

Count me in please Sir Matt....

My hometown heroes' date=' boyhood club, FA Cup giantkillers of this season and hopefully on Wednesday vs Shorpe.....but sadly homeless for the moment.. Worcester City pleeeeease!!! ;)

Worcester City are there just for you mate.

Put me on the interested list thanks Matt

Consider it done Mr Hudson. You are a rock in my set ups........guess that makes you Rock Hudson does it not? :P

Re: Rags To Riches III - Re-emergence of the minnows

Says the man that asked me to send you over one from Australia :P

Oops I forgot you told me not to say anything......sorry mate :P

Would make a hell of a prize for winning the game world!!!
Well since Huddo has the worlds biggest collection it would be wasted on him' date=' that is why he has moved onto blow up animals.[/font']

I actually prefered the prize for "Player Performance League" (a lap dance from Susan Boyle) - I never felt more frustrated for finishing 2nd. :P
