ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I am fairly sure after years of soccermanager.com there is not much likelihood of a totally new concept so I shall take this moment to recognise the work done by Ashtini and Noisy (were there others - if so sorry I missed you) in RC1, 2 and 3 and BenC with FFP. I have borrowed some of the concepts from the latest versions of these GW's as a basis to what we have conceived.

In addition my partners in crime in formulating this concept have been (using their forum names)
Pedrooliveria - for his advice and assistance in getting the right clubs to help maintain the income stream
Huddo - for his support and constant cheek
Cookiemonster - for being able to look outside the box and find small problems
SirRahul - for encouragement and advice along the way with additional mentions to Cameron Lucas and Gozzy for their involvement

Season SIX Wrap
PLEASE NOTE:
ALL SPENDING AMOUNTS FOR SEASON SEVEN ARE PLUS SALES
YOU CANNOT START BUYING AND SELLING FOR NEXT SEASON UNTIL THAT SEASON STARTS
MAXIMUM PLAYER RATING FOR SEASON SEVEN IS 94

FROM THE START OF SEASON 7 SQUAD SIZE WILL BE MAXIMUM 33 PLAYERS WHERE AT LEAST 10 MUST BE 21 YEARS OR UNDER ON THE FIRST MATCH DAY OF THE SEASON.

Hope this all makes sense. I am sure I will get a frantic message if I got one wrong. Hopefully not.

Just so there is no confusion about buying and selling players because I may not have explained it well enough.

If players are sold before the season changes from the current season to the next season the money made from their sale will not be carried over to season four. I would strongly recommend that you do not sell a player until the new season commences...otherwise you stand a strong chance of losing those funds for new season or going over budget for the current one. Any player you buy before the season rolls over will count against the current budget and if it puts you over for the current season there will be a penalty.

Hope that makes sense.

7. Prizes will be awarded for the League Cup and Shield - Winner 5 Mill...Runner Up 3 Mill - Plus winning Clubs will be awarded one additional squad spot.

8. The leading goal scorer in Div 1 will receive a bonus 3 Mill for their club. In the event of a tie each player will get the bonus for their club

9. The Player of the Season will receive a bonus 3 Mill for their club.

Also of course there will MORE random stuff - and it WILL BE TOUGHER.

Remember 92 is now the player rating limit. Squad maximum remains at 25 Players unless you have been fortunate to get additions - minimum 21.

PLEASE REMEMBER to stick to budgets and player numbers caps - maximum and minimum...if you mess up on any of these you will NOT LIKE THE PENALTY.

3. Random Events

There will be a random event every 6 rounds (Rounds 6, 12 and 18)will occur that will affect ONE CLUB only. In the real world (as a certain Mr. Johnson will attest in the Premier League) a random event can occur that deeply effects the club concerned. Some events will be not so serious and some minor in nature.  The club involved will be selected using a random select engine and the name of the Club will be announced on the forum. Another random selection will be made to find the severity of the random event. NOT ALL RANDOM EVENTS WILL BE PENALTIES.

The random events will be split up as follows:

MAJOR EVENT: This could be something like a player at the club has been caught dealing drugs or something equally as serious and has been sacked by the club. Once the penalty is know the player must be sold on the open market. The player cannot play for their current club until sold. The player CANNOT be bought by another managed club at this time but would be available after the Transfer Ban expires.

MEDIUM EVENT: A player had committed some offense against the Club (left the playing group like Lewis Grabban did for Norwich earlier this season would be an example). The player may not play for Four rounds from the announcement of the offense.

MINOR EVENT: A player was late for training and is unavailable for the next game.

REWARD: There will also be the chance of a reward. The probability of A Major Penalty or a Reward appearing will be the same so the reward will be useful. If a Club is selected for a reward they will receive an additional 5MILL to spend in the Current season and 3 Mill will be added to their budget for the next season.

PLEASE NOTE - IMPORTANT - MONEY NOT SPENT IN THE SEASON TO WHICH IT APPLIES CANNOT BE CARRIED OVER. THIS APPLIES TO ALL BUDGETS, NOT JUST THE RANDOM EVENTS.

RANDOM EVENTS - Changes to how they are calculated for season 2.

The random events are calculated as follows:

1. The event is sorted by random.org after the 5th round.

2. random.org is first asked to select a number between 1 and 16. The club list has been prepared from the current league positions but will remain static from here.

1.    Feyenoord

2.    Berlin
3.    Frankfurt
4.    Ajax
5.    Hanover
6.    Madrid
7.    Celtic
8.    Stuttgart
9.    PSG
10.  Seattle
11.  Sunderland
12.  Club America
13.  Newcastle
14.  Manchester
15.  Cologne
16.  Guangzhou

3. Random.org will then be asked to select a number between 1 and 20 to assess the event. This means that you now have a 20% chance of getting a Major event 10% chance of getting a reward, a 35% chance of getting a medium and a 30% chance of getting either a Minor event if your club is selected.

1. Major
2. Medium
3. Minor
4. Medium
5. Minor
6. Medium
7. Minor
8. Major
9. Reward
10. Major
11. Medium
12. Major
13. Reward
14. Minor
15. Medium
16. Minor
17. Medium
18. Minor
19. Medium
20. Major

The rest is up to my imagination for a story line.

4. Rewards and Penalties

From the end of the first season rewards and penalties will be handed out in the form of extra funds, additional player ratings etc (rewards) and forced player sales and budget reductions (penalties). In previous GW's in which I have been involved it became apparent that the relegated team that lost a player could quickly recover a similar player and get promoted straight back up. Relegation penalties will be harsher than was the case in these GW's to make this a little more difficult.

5. Trading

This is a CASH ONLY game World. It is almost impossible to prevent back yard deals but the fewer we do the more likely that the game world will flourish. In the end it is up to you guys.

OK...that is probably enough for now. If you have any questions about the operation of the GW please post here and I will answer as fast as i can.

This section will be for rules that we make along the way to keep them in one place.

RULE ONE: RESPECT - This purpose of this GW is to have fun and a bit of a challenge. From time to time things can happen that will test our patience and cause heated discussion. Hence rule one. I expect every manager to treat others with politeness and respect. Personal insults and slurs will not be tolerated. Racial and religious slurs and insults will not be tolerated. If managers cannot treat each other with a professional respect in their discussions the offending manager will be asked to leave the group...and that is the last thing we want. So people...PLEASE PLAY NICE

Rule Breach - Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin have overspent their player purchase budget by approximately half a million pounds. Obviously this is not a huge a mount of money but it is a breach of the budget cap. I have spoken with Manager Venk and can see that this was entirely accidental due to confusion with the start of season figures listed on the forum. Actually it is probably a good thing I spotted the error during a random check as Venk thought he still had more budget available so the breach could have been much higher. Under normal circumstances we would impose a playing ban on the player last bought and instruct that this player would have to be sold once the transfer ban was up. On this occasion two players were purchased at the same time (Drogba and Fuego) and the amount paid for Drogba is not enough to bring the budget back in line so it is Fuego's purchase that has caused the club to break their budget.

It was discussed that we cold impose a reduction in budget for Season 3 but I am a bit loathe to do this as I prefer to have any penalty like this one apply to the season in which it occurs.

With this in mind Player Fuego is now unavailable for team selection until the budget is brought back into line. This may be achieved immediately by either selling an available player or waiting until the TB is up and selling Fuego. The choice is entirely up to the Manager concerned on this occasion.

In addition the funds obtained by the sale of the player may then be used to buy a replacement so long as the budget is not then overspent again.

I can see that this is an honest error but we have always said that breaches of the rules would be penalised and therefore cannot back down from the position at the first breach.

I would like to thanks Venk for his co-operation and understanding during this process and to my co-conspirators Huddo and Smut for their input helping me come to this conclusion.

Rule Breach - SEASON THREE
COLOGNE - 1 player over maximum squad size.  This is a minor infraction but there must be some penalty

PENALTY - last player in that caused the breach was MURILLO. This player is suspended for rounds 1, 2 and 3 (Minimu Penalty). The squad must be reduced to the maximum size immediately and no more players can be bought unless sales are made first.

PSG - 1 player over maximum squad size.  This is a minor infraction but there must be some penalty

PENALTY - last player in that caused the breach was LOVIC. This player is suspended for rounds 1, 2 and 3. The squad must be reduced to the maximum size immediately and no more players can be bought unless sales are made first.

H. BERLIN - 3 players over maximum squad size. This is the same offence as Cologne but on a larger scale. Having bought these three players means that other clubs are unable to buy them which is why it is important that all clubs sell before they buy. It means planning your sales to occur as early as possible. This of course means that someone else may have bought them before the Berlin Manager was able to do so.

PENALTY - Last three players in were SCHMELZER, KAKA, and ROSE. These players are suspended for rounds 1, 2, and 3 (1 round for each player over the limit). The squad must be reduced to the maximum size immediately through the sale of other players and no more players can be bought unless sales are made first.

SUNDERLAND - 4 players over maximum squad size. This is the same offence as Cologne but on a larger scale. Having bought these four players means that other clubs are unable to buy them which is why it is important that all clubs sell before they buy. It means planning your sales to occur as early as possible. This of course means that someone else may have bought them before the Sunderland Manager was able to do so.

PENALTY - Last four players in were NASRI, MEDEL, MILNER, PRIETO. These players are suspended for rounds 1, 2, 3 and 4 (1 round for each player over the limit). The squad must be reduced to the maximum size immediately through the sale of other players and no more players can be bought unless sales are made first.

STUTTGART - 6 players over maximum squad size PLUS overspent budget by 38.1 Mill. As well as going well over the squad cap the club has also spent more than its allocated budget by over 75%. The club has made no sales and therefore should therefore only have been able to buy 1 level 90 player. The penalty for this has been split into three sections.
PENALTY ONE - Last six players in were ALVES, MONREAL, WALKER, SISSOKO, BLIND, BONY. As with the previous two clubs these players are suspended for rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (1 round for each player over the limit). The squad must be reduced to 29 players immediately through the sale of other players. No more players can be bought until the squad size reaches a number below 25.
PENALTY TWO - Last four players in were ALVES, MONREAL, WALKER, SISSOKO. The money used to buy these players must be restored to the general funds. These four players may not play for the club. Once their transfer bans are completed they must be sold which will reduce the squad number to 25. The money made from their sales cannot be added to the purchasing budget for season three which remains at 49 Mill. No more players can be bought until the squad size reaches a number below 25.
PENALTY THREE - The club budget for season four will be reduced by 10 Million after all calculations are completed.

While some of these penalties may seem harsh the rules under which this GW operates are designed to keep Managers interested and working on building winning Clubs. It is imperative that we curb rule breaches like these to maintain the integrity of the GW.

ADDITIONAL RULE BREACH - STUTTGART

Whilst I accept that this rule breach was accidental because the manager was away on holiday  it could have been avoided. Consequently further penalties have been imposed.

1. The players listed in the breach notice ALVES, MONREAL, WALKER, SISSOKO, BLIND, BONY are suspended for rounds 5, 6, 7 8, 9 and 10 and MUST NOT play.
2. ALVES, MONREAL, WALKER, SISSOKO, must be sold immediately their transfer bans are completed.
3. These suspended players have appeared a total of 17 times so far. The club budget for season 4 will be reduced by 1 Million for each appearance to date. This means a total reduction for you for season 4 of 27 Million.
4. Any further appearance by any of these players this season will add an addition 2 Million per appearance to this penalty.

Pf, Sir Alex Ferguson...

I'm gonna be the next Moyes.  B)

Cool presentation, Gordon!

Why Dortmund instead of Schalke tho?

They're too strong, aren't they?

In SM, they're possibly even stronger than the likes of Utd, Arsenal or Napoli.

You know I'm in, obviously.  :)

EDIT: you can add Noisy to the list, Gordon.

A minor problem I see in the draft is that with the number of unmanaged squad who are empty squads they will go and buy random top rated players in their squad, they may also buy some 87 and below rated players whom have already been drafted. Have to ensure everyone gets their bids in otherwise you snooze you lose I reckon.

Whose idea was it for the draft, btw? Great idea.

Yeah I thought so..Huddo has been in two draft GWs with me recently, looks like he hasn't had enough of them.  :P  although this draft poses a different challenge with the restricted budget and rating cap.

Do you plan on regulating P/E deals at all??

I do not know if there is a way to do that without the honesty of the managers Niki, and if the managers are all in the spirit of the GW...you do not need it.

Be happy to hear any thoughts on it from you.

I did mention above that it is frowned upon but I do not really know of any way to police it effectively.

I prefer the draft but you do have a point ...managers will have to be quick off the mark when the world goes live. Another of the deficiencies of the SM world :)

My theory was to ensure an even spread of young 87 rated players amongst the teams.

Last thing you would want is money being wasted on managers not get 21 players.

We only have 80 mil in Season 1 which won't go far.

I get your concerns tho Rahul and agree we will need to be quick and have an efficient draft.

At least Gordon has me to blame if unmanaged teams take all the top talents :P

While we may all agree to to do cash only deals, what may be a cash only deal for me, might be seen as a P/E deal for the rest of the GW.

Could we restrict transfers to only one dealing per club per season?

For example, I can only make 1 deal with Jared in season 1.

Probably could...but does that mean one deal only, or one deal each way.  If you get to the end of the seson and lets say you buy a player from me right at he end of the year and I buy one from you at the start of the new year it is probably still a P/E deal providing yu have the cash.

The fact is it is almost impossible to stop and, in the end, it stops the flow of players between clubs. The top players are never available.  Although in the GW it will not be an issue for a while I think.

Of course if the team that was involved got relegated they might themselves having to sell any P/E deals they have done.

maybe if you made it every two seasons with only one deal between the specific clubs that would work but it would be hard to police over time.

So only division one and two clubs will be available to choose from ?

If it is only division 1 and 2 clubs I would like either Leicester City or Sporting if it's any club I would like Dortmund

And is there a rating cap on players we can draft or buy ?
