Prediction:
League Leaders Club America will play host to Hanover who will be without Leon Osman for this clash. Some would consider CA lucky to have escaped with their unbeaten record intact from the last game but without Osman I do not think Hanover have the firepower to beat them. Home Win. 2-3 (typical...vote for them and they let ya down)

Club America finally slipped up and lost their first of the season with keeper Tatarusanu unable to produce yet another MOTM performance to cover their errors at the back. CA put up a creditable but very defensive performance in the first half which remained goalless in the first half mainly due to the acrobatics of the afore mentioned Tatarusanu but just on the hour mark it was the old combination of an unnecessary free kick and a poor wall setup that got Hanover on the scoreboard with MOTM Danilo firing home at the base of the post from about 25 yards. Just 7 minutes later Albornoz crossed to Sane who showed excellent touch to control a difficult ball as he pulled it out of the air, steadied and fired home for his second of the season. Final Score 0-2

150x_Hertha-BSC.jpg                     V                   150xATMadrid.jpg

Prediction: Manager Whisperr Don will be without Kris Commons who is still on the injury table when they play host to Atletico Madrid who will again have talented young defender Diego Reyes available following his club imposed suspension. Berlin have lost two on the trot and will be hoping to stop the drop while Madrid have collected a win and a draw from the last to, the latter being the escape by Club America. On form the Spaniards should take the points and I will stick with the form on this one. 2-4 (note to self - do not stick to the form....hang on?)

Berlin fired back with a vengeance and were just clinical in front of goal as Kasper Schmeichal was reminiscent of his all conquering father in a stellar performance by the Germans. Madrid lost defender Dabo to a red card in the 88th minute but that had o real bearing on the result. Niasse opened the scoring for the home side in the 12th minute when he fired home a free kick from 25 yards with a curling shot that left Adan groping for air. Madrid tried hard to recover but in the 38th minute Niasse turned provider finding MOTM Joel Campbell with only the keeper to beat, which he did with some class. Half time 2-0. Niasse was creating openings first for Shane Long and then Kante but neither was able to convert. Campbell showed he can work an opening as easily as score when he put Maidana through on goal and the Argentine obliged by bringing up the third for Berlin with 69 minutes gone. Dabo made an ugly ugly tackle on Long, jumping in with both feet of the ground. Long needed treatment and Dabo needed a towel and soap for an early shower. manager Lucas will not be happy with the player who will now serve a 3 match man for a straight red. madrid could not stop Berlin with 11 men and certainly were not going to with 10, Joel Campbell latching on to yet another assist from Niasse to put four on the board for the home side. Madrid threw caution to the winds at this point and Berlin took their foot of the accelerator a bit that allowed Ighalo to find central defender Rugani, of all people, 25 yards out and the centre back gave the strikers an abject lesson with a cracking shot that left Schmeichal stranded for the consolation goal. Final Score 4-1

150x_Celtic.jpg                    V                    150x_eintracht-frankfurt.jpg

Prediction: Celtic are in fifth place following their last round draw with Eintracht just above them on the same points. The home side will be looking to get back on the winners list and should have their stars fit to play. This will be an absolute cracker of a game with Eintracht's Dele Alli leading the race for the golden boot in the first season with 7 goals from 8 games while Pienaar and Keane have 6 between them for the home side. Goals a plenty promised in this game but there is a question over the fitness of the Eintracht star. This one could well finish even. 2-6 (note to self - stop making predictions so you don't appear to be favouring your own side :) )

Celtic were just too strong for the visitors and the return of MOTM striker Roy Keane to the pointy end proved decisive. Coman was again excellent for Frankfurt but could not find quite enough magic to swing the game. The match was an arm wrestle for the first half hour with Kirchhoff doing an excellent job marking Alli, which proved to be an struggle during the game. just on the half hour Pienaar found Keane with a cutting pass and Sportiello was quick to make a fine save but it was a warning for the visitors and 8 minutes later Keane found Kirchhoff unmarked and the big defender found the bottom corner with a crisp finish. The second half began with Celtic in the ascendancy first Ledesma, who had a fine match, found Keane and the striker was again foiled by Sportiello but three minutes later Maurice-Belay opened up the Frankfurt defense again and this time Keane made no mistake, the 35 year old making it 4 for the season. 74 minutes gone and Coman capped a strong performance when he beat Hassen following a fine through ball from Niang but with 2 minutes on the clock Celtic put the game beyond doubt with Cana finding Ledesma who curled one around the diving Sportiello to seal the result. Final Score 3-1

150x_Seattle_Sounders_FC.jpg                    V                    150x_Manchester-City.jpg

Prediction: In our final game Seattle will be looking to improve on their last round draw  while Manchester City are probably looking for someone to take it out on following their 2-0 loss in their last match. Seattle could well have the stronger defense but City have the edge in the strike force. Both teams are at full strength and again this one will be a draw. 2-6 (Well that was close - NOT)

Manager Noisy will be disappointed with his teams performance in this one as Seattle simply outplayed them. City never managed to get a ball on target throughout the match and Rulli in teh City goal was brilliant keeping it down to only four conceded. City got off to an horrific start giving away a penalty in just the 12th minute which N'Jie converted with aplomb and it was a very close thing for MOTM between the Cameroonian and Spaniard Sergi Darder who eventually won it. A minute after the penalty N'jie was foiled by a superb save from Rulli and again on the half hour N'jie found the net again to make it 2-0 at half time. Darder certainly came into the game in the second half when, in the 53rd minute, he linked up with Baptistao who beat the keeper with a frim strike that Rulli got a hand to but could not keep out and then 15 minutes later Tolisso found Darder clean through and the Spaniard made no mistake to make it four. N'jie was robbed of a hat trick just a minute later when Rulli made yet another fantastic save and in the 81st minute Rulli again stretched up to the top corner to deny Rukavina but this game was all Seattle. Final Score 4-0

A third of the way through the season and things are starting to take shape. PSG are showing some fight in an attempt to get out of the relegation zone and Manchester City are sliding that way. Guangzhou are not in a good place and Newcastle need to find some consistency. At the other end of the table Club America still lead but now only by three from Feyenoord, who with Ajax are the only teams left that remain unbeaten. We have 6 teams separated by 2 points between 2nd and 7th. PHEW!...and still a long way to go.

I did mention a red card penalty/reward at the start of the season and it has now occurred to me we COULD have two teams (or more) tied for the cash. SOOOO I think what I will do is say if there are two or more teams tied for either the penalty or the reward I will then go to YELLOW cards to try to split the winners. Hopefully that will be enough.

MATCH DAY 10A couple

of our managers seem to have gone missing in action. It may be necessary to start looking for reaplacements unless we hear from the soon.

Our first game says 13th v 14th as Manchester City take on PSG at the Ettihad. Given that City manager Noisy has not been seen at the ground for 7 days and his team has lost the last three matches it is rumored that there may be a problem and a new manager may be required - obviously we hope this is not the case. PSG on the other hand are putting together a it of a run to lift themselves out of the bottom three. Both teams are at full strength and an away win is forecast pending the return of the manager.

Match 2 is 12 v 11 with Stuttgart, beaten in Paris and Cologne beaten by Ajax at home in the last round both looking for a comeback result. Both teams are at full strength and pretty evenly balanced for this game but I get the feeling that an in-form Boufal/Olic combination may prove the difference. Home Win forecast.

Ajax will host the visiting Newcastle in game three with Keane still injured and out for the visitors. Ajax have a devastating strike force of Suarez, Origi and Embolo with 9 goals between them where Newcastle have only scored 4 so far this season and this will prove the major difference in the game unless manager Matt can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Howe Win for Ajax.

Feyenoord sitting in second place will host the struggling Guanzhou who are the other club missing a manager. Gozzy has now not been seen for two weeks and there are serious concerns for him...the results of his team reflect the situation. Feyenoord to win.

3rd placed Sunderland will host league leaders Club America in what must be the match of the round. Camasara leads the line for the home side with 5 goals and 1 assist and Inaki Williams with 3 goals is his back up. For the visitors Janssen has 2 goals and 6 assists and Asension 3 of each. This one promises to be a great game and VERY hard to pick. CA are coming off their first loss and will be keen to get back on the winners list while Sunderland won away from home and will be straining to bring CA back to the pack. Each time I have predicted a CA result they have gone the other way but for fear of jinxing Sunderland I am picking them to win. Apologies in advance.

Hanover will play host to H Berlin in the next game for review with three points between them in the league and Berlin looking to close that gap. Hanover are in great form. They defeated the league leaders in their last game and are making a strong bid to climb the table....and that is without the services of Leon Osman who remains should just be back in time for their game on Match day 11. Berlin will miss Kante, out for three games after a straight red in the last round and are still awaiting the return of the injured Commons who is likely to miss another four games. My vote is for Hanover to take the points but I think it will be very close.

Atletico Madrid were on the receiving end of a bit of a thumping in the last game and manager Christopher will be hoping he doesn't catch them on the rebound for their trip to Vincente Calderon. Madrid are WDL for their last three games while the Scots WDW gives them three without loss. The home side will be without defender Brian Dabo serving the second week of a three week ban for a straight red card and Dennis Praet will be unavailable with a groin strain and will miss his first game of the season. Celtic will be without the services of Pienaar who has been one of their main suppliers although Maurice Belay has shown good signs in this role in recent games. With many of their stars rested for the recent cup game Celtic should be raring to go and I think will ring home the bacon in another hard fought game.

In the final game of the round Frankfurt will play host to Seattle. The tow clubs are 8th and 7th in the league respectively. Seattle gave Manchester City a thumping in the last round while Frankfurt lost away at Celtic so the thrust is certainly with the visitors and confidence will be high. In addition Seattle will be at full strength while Frankfurt will be without Correa who will miss up to four games with a back injury and Ely with bruised ribs. This may not concern the starting 11 but will mean a reshuffle on the bench. On paper this is a win for Seattle and for the sake of the predictions I will call it that way but I will not be surprised if the home side turn the tables on recent form and spring a surprise win.

PSG on the other hand are putting together a it of a run to lift themselves out of the bottom three. Both teams are at full strength and an away win is forecast pending the return of the manager. 0-0 Well I did say that this result was pending the return of the manager...and he returned so honestly I think I deserve a draw on this one.

his one just went all wrong for the visiting team who decided a defensive formation was required and then just could not get out of first gear. Paris had less than 40% of the ball and failed to get a shot on target. It took just 13 minutes for Deeney to open the account latching on to a beautiful through ball from Rafinha with Zoet misjudging it and it slipped under his arms. 10 minutes later Brandt was foiled from making it 2-0 when Zoet made and excellent save to keep it to the single goal. In the 61st minute Rafinha again became the supplier with a lovely pass to Mina who made no mistake from 8 yards. final Score 2-0

Despite the fact that Cologne could not manage a shot on goal in the game they had some good possession and defended well. Unfortunately even a MOTM performance from Donnarumma could not prevent Oliveira from converting a 27th minute penalty for the only goal of the game. Olic as expected was devastating but in the end the score line was flattering to Cologne who have now lost 4 of their last 6. Final Score 1-0

Home Win for Ajax. 1-1

The name Tinkerer is being levelled squarely at Manager LauraV after Newcastle defeated them in their round 10 match today. After a storming win away from home in the last round the team formation and playing strategy was drastically changed and the home team seemed uncomfortable with the result. On top of that the real Newcastle turned up for this game with Man of the Match Jese scoring the only goal in the 30th minute following some great work by Charlie Austin. Origi tried hard to break down the Geordie defence and Matt Ryan's performance improved markedly in the second half but they just could not peg back that single goal. Manager Matt will be hoping that this improvement in form will stick with Newcastle and lift them out of the relegation zone. Final Score 0-1

Prediction: Feyenoord sitting in second place will host the struggling Guanzhou who are the other club missing a manager. Gozzy has now not been seen for two weeks and there are serious concerns for him...the results of his team reflect the situation. Feyenoord to win. 2-1

Manager Smut and his Feyenoord team continued the rise and rise with an easy 3-0 win over the basically manager-less Guangzhou team with manager Gozzy now not having been seen for 17 days. 17 shots on target to 0 and 75% of the possession meant it was a practice run for the home side. It took just 4 minutes for Germain to find Moukandjo with a piercing through ball and the score was 1-0. In the 27th minute Ward -Prowse made it 2 with a beautifully taken free kick from 25 yards that Sels could not get near and Moukandjo again in the 37th minute made it three and lifted his total 7 for the season - equalling Dele Alli at the top of the Golden Boot count. Moukandjo got MOTM for a fine performance but Sels in the Guangzhou goal played some of the best football of his career in the second half to keep the home team scoreless after half time. A magnificent effort. What is going to happen with Manager Gozzy is unknown at this point but something will have to be done about his disappearance. Final Score 3-0

Well I did say it would be very hard to pick and therefore probably should have stuck with a draw. What a cracking game.  the visitors came to play defensively hitting the home side on the counter-attack and it came off in perfect fashion when Janssen found N'Koudou with a raking 30 yard pass and the wide man cut inside to beat the diving Butland from close range. It took 69 minutes before the hard working Tibbling provided his third assist if the season for Bennassi to fire home the leveller from 10 yards. Even so it took a MOTM performance from Butland to keep the sides level. Club America now lead the division by a solitary point as the race for the top gets a bit more serious a third of the way into the season. Both managers will be pleased with a point but disappointed they were not able to get the full measure from this game. Final Score 1-1

My vote is for Hanover to take the points but I think it will be very close. 2-3

It wasn't close and they didn't win. Berlin outclassed the home side all over the pitch with Seba opening the account in just the 16th minute with a classy finish to a through ball from Keita. 15 minutes later MOTM Mason scored the first of a brace for him on the day when Baumgartl found him unmarked and from 12 yards he hit the inside of the post for a 2 goal difference. Finally the home side woke up with Rodriguez picking out Qazaishvili who made an excellent diagonal run from his wide right spot to sneak it home past the diving Schmeichal to give th home side some hope for the second half. It only took two minutes for Berlin to ruin that thought when Mason hit his second from 28 yards dipping over the top of the stranded keeper. The loss would be  great disappointment for manager  Ciao who sees his slide slip down the division and the two clubs now locked on 15 points from 10 games. Final Score 1-3

Attempts by manager Lucas prior to the game to play mind games with the opposition backfired big time for the home side in a lop-sided affair that saw the home side only able to muster one shot on goal. Lucas claimed he would be giving a start to three of his younger players before the game but although they did make an appearance it was not until the 75th minute when the game was all but over. The first half was poor overall with neither team looking the goods but Celtic came out after the break looking far the sharper. Atletico held out until the 59th minute when Celtic were awarded a free kick for a foul on and Maurice-Belay curled it home from about 26 yards. Keane had been a menace all day and Rugani was giving him a torrid time. The defender was lucky not to be sent from the field for a second yellow in the 63rd minute when he again brought down the rampaging Keane from behind and Maurice-Belay repeated the earlier dose with another immaculate free kick, Final Score 0-2

Prediction: In the final game of the round Frankfurt will play host to Seattle. The tow clubs are 8th and 7th in the league respectively. A disappointing result for the home side who truly expected more from the game. Sportiello in the Frankfurt goal had an extremely poor game with mistakes that compounded some poor defensive work while his opposite number, Kraft, won the MOTM award. Veteran Ronaldhino strated the game well causing problems for the home defence and opened the scoring just on the half hour with a curling free kick from just outside the box. 5 minutes later N'Jie scored the fist of his two goals when Berahino found him unmarked in the 6 yard box and the young striker made no mistake. Midway through the second half Ronaldhino was fouled by Carbonero in the box and N'jie stepped up to make it 6 for the season from the spot. N'Jie was unlucky not to take the match ball late in the game with a dipping shot from distance that could not quite get under the bar and Januzaj would have made it 4 with 4 minutes on the clock but for his one great save of the game from Sportiello. Final Score 0-3

Match Day 11

Cologne play host to PSG in our first game with neither team in particularly good form. The home side have lost two on the trot and will not want to make it three with the relegation zone beckoning. Both sides will be at full strength and this is a tough one to pick but I will go for a home win.

Stuttgart were to strong for Cologne in the last round and Newcastle won away at Ajax...both were 1-0 games. Newcastle have the home ground advantage but have not been playing well at home. No injuries or suspensions for wither side.Again a hard one to pick but I will stick with the home side.

Guangzhou will play host to ajax and, given the situation, Ajax must win the game.

Club America will play host to Feyenoord in what must be the match of the round and maybe the league to date. The visitors are on fire at the moment with 18 goals scored to date and Moukandjo has 7 of them and Ward-Prowse 6 with a total of 11 assists between them Club America have been off their game a little but have still managed 16 this season. This promises to be one for the ages. On form tis one should be an away win but the home side are difficult to beat on their home ground. That said I do not see this one being a draw so i wil will go for the form team. Feyenoord to jump to the top of the division.

Berlin are fresh from a stunning victory in their last game and visitors Sunderland had an impressive game against the league leaders last time out so this again promises to be a great game. kante is still suspended for he home side while Sunderland are at full strength. This one is a draw for my money.

Hanover struggled in their last game while Celtic looked comfortable against Madrid and they will struggle again to beat the Scots in this round. With both sides at full strength Celtic will be too good on the day and at home and Club America could conceivably find themselves third in the league by the end of the day. Home win here.

Seattle will take on the lacklustre Madrid in the next match for review with the visitors still without Praet and Dabo. Seattle will be at full strength and even with the expected improved performance from the Spaniards for this game I think the home side will be too strong.

Manchester City travel to Eintracht for the last game of the round on the back of a strong home victory in the last match. The home team were very disappointing in their last match and will be without Correa again for this game.  Dele Alli has not got on the score sheet for a couple of games and is due to break the drout but City have a dangerous combination with Cambiasso, Mina and Deeney and will be  hard to control. On form the visitors to win.

All the tats are about level in this one that turned out to be a pretty flat and boring game. Donnarumma became the first GK of the round to get a MOTM award but in this case it was probably because no one else did enough to get it. David Moyes will be disappointed to drop poins at home and Cookie will be happy to get points away. Otherwise...lets move on.

Newcastle made their fans very happy indeed as they chalked up a convincing win at home to Stuttgart. Again in this match a MOTM GK performance was not decisive in the game but one does wonder how a GK can win MOTM in a game where they lost 2-0. It took 40 minutes for the game to come to life when Plattenhardt played Thorgan Hazard into a good striking position and the young number 10 made it 1-0 with his first of the season. The goal stirred Newcastle and they began to take control of the game. The writing was on the wall in the 64th minute when Charlie Austin broke through onto a pass from Hazard and slid the ball under the keeper only to be ruled offside in a decision that brought howls of derision from the home fans. 4 Minutes later Rolan found Skjelbred running into an opening in the box and the midfielder sealed the result for the home side. Newcastle did not set the world on fire in this game but it was a professional and workmanlike performance from the Geordies which Manager Webb will be extremely pleased with. This result lifted Newcastle away from the relegation zone but there is still work to do. Final Score 2-0

Prediction: Guangzhou will play host to ajax and, given the situation, Ajax must win the game. 2-1

Guangzhou is not in complete disarray with manager Gozzy now completely missing for 21 days...which is a trifle disappointing from previous experiences with him and I hope he is actually well IRL. Manager LAuraV is happy to take the points in a game where her team had 73% of the ball and 11 shots to 0 on target. Four players got on the score sheet starting with Telles in the 38th Minute. Origi added a 5th for his season from the spot just after half time. Denis Suarez got the third in a MOTM performance that included and assist for the last scorer Embolo who made it three for the season. A comfortable win for the visitors Final Score 0-4

We have a now team at the top of the Division today with Feyenoord overpowering the home team in the end for a ell deserved home win.  For the third game out of four so far this round a GK got MOTM which by the way is Tatusanu's 4th in just 11 games but this time it was not QUITE enough to save his team from defeat. However it was close thing. The only goal of the game came in the 89th minute when Jonas Larsson, who came on as part of a half time reshuffle by Manager Smut, went up for a corner and was left unmarked in the 6 yard box to head home past the despairing Tatarusanu and drove the traveling fans to hysteria. Final Score 0-1

150x_Hertha-BSC.jpg                    V                    150x_Sunderland.jpg

Prediction: Berlin are fresh from a stunning victory in their last game and visitors Sunderland had an impressive game against the league leaders last time out so this again promises to be a great game. kante is still suspended for he home side while Sunderland are at full strength. This one is a draw for my money. 3-2

Sunderland fell foul of yet ANOTHER MOTM GK (that's four out of five so far by the way) as Kasper Schmeichel put in a master class performance to help his side to a 3-1 win at the Olympiastadion. Schmeichel was the single difference between the two sides with Butland at the other end of the scale when, in just the fourth minute, Sunderland left a gap in the wall for a Quintero free kick which the winger accepted with glee. However Butland should have been able to save it anyway but it slipped through his fingers and the visitors were chasing the game. Inaki Williams gave the visitors some hope with an equalizer at the 20 minute mark when a Sunderland free kick was crossed into the box by Benassi for Williams to head home. However just before half time Depoitre latched on to a ball from Quintero (who in my opinion should have got the MOTM champagne) and Butland dived the wrong way to see his side 2-1 down at the break. The second half was a torrid affair with Sunderland trying everything to break down the home defense but Schmeichel stood firm and the 77th minute Seba put the game beyond Sunderland with yet another assist from Quintero. Manager Huddo will be disappointed to lose ground on the top three but there is still a long way to go. Final Score 3-1

150x_Celtic.jpg                    V                    150x_hannover-96.jpg

Prediction: Hanover struggled in their last game while Celtic looked comfortable against Madrid and they will struggle again to beat the Scots in this round. With both sides at full strength Celtic will be too good on the day and at home and Club America could conceivably find themselves third in the league by the end of the day. Home win here. 4-2

As suggested Club America slipped to third as Celtic got past Hanover but this game was not all beer and skittles for the home team. The game started in disastrous fashion for the home side as Charlie Adam latched on to a through ball from Danilo and caught the home side asleep at the wheel. Manager Christopher was obviously furious on the line as this gave the visitors the perfect excuse to sit in and defend their lead. And defend it they did. After half time Celtic put more and more pressure on the Hanover defense without any luck. Keane had a couple of half chances that went wide and Maurice-Belay hit a cracking shot from 28 yards that Adrian saved with a world class effort. But it was not until the 72nd minute that Celtic finally broke through. A foul on Keane just outside the box put Maurice-Belay in the perfect position to curl one into the top corner with Adrian unable to reach it. 10 minutes later the pressure told again as the effervescent Maurice-Belay found Keane in the one spot where he should NEVER be unmarked...in front of goal inside the six yard box...and the striker provided a deft flick into the net to notch up 5 for the season.Final Score 2-1

150x_Seattle_Sounders_FC.jpg                     V                    150xATMadrid.jpg

Prediction: Seattle will take on the lacklustre Madrid in the next match for review with the visitors still without Praet and Dabo. Seattle will be at full strength and even with the expected improved performance from the Spaniards for this game I think the home side will be too strong. 4-3

OK....lets get it out of the way early. MOTM Adan...that's 5 out of 7 games. Seattle and Manager JustinX will feel that they should have got the points from this game and were robbed by a stellar display by Adan while Manager Lucas will argue that it was otherwise a very even game and a draw was a fair result. Atletico slipped into the bottom three courtesy of this result, although only on goal difference, and Seattle lost the chance to reduce Club America to fourth spot. Final Score 0-0

150x_eintracht-frankfurt.jpg                    V                    150x_Manchester-City.jpg

Prediction: Manchester City travel to Eintracht for the last game of the round on the back of a strong home victory in the last match. 4-4

Kingsley Coman is starting to become a real concern for any opposition as he put in a fantastic display to win the MOTM award for the second time this season and notching up goal number 5 for the campaign. For the visitors Cambiasso again made himself prominent by providing the assist for Rafinha who opened the scoring for the visitors in the 17th minute. Frankfurt came back hard and Wimmer was adjudged to have tripped Defoe with a late tackle inside the box with Coman converting from 12 yards. From here the match turned into an arm wrestle with both sides shooting bu failing to fins much accuracy but in the 63rd minute Dele Alli won a free kick wide on the right and took the kick himself providing Farnerud with a simple tap in as the City defense just switched off for a second and paid the penalty. Manager Noisy will be disappointed not to have taken at least a point from the game. Final Score 2-1

So big changes at the top of the league with Feyenoord taking top spot a point ahead of Celtic with Club America slipping a point further behind. Madrid, Cologne and Manchester City  are fighting over avoiding 14th spot with all three on 12 points ...Newcastle and Stuttgart are only one point better off.

MATCH DAY 12 - Please leave a note on the GW to tell me who is reading this...want to  make sure i am not wasting these hours.

12th and 13th respectively - Man City will host Cologne in Match 1. The Cologne midfield of Kranevitter and Rabiot promised much at the start of the season but probably have not produced as well as was thought possible. Man City have a potent strike force with Cambiasso MIna and Deeney and if Cologne cannot keep them under control it will be a home win....and I think it will!

PSG are struggling to find consistency although they did manage a draw last time out. Newcastle have started to put together some positive results in a row with two wins of the from two and will be looking to continue their rise. Away win here.

Stuttgart will host Guangzhou for what should be the easy points of this round. Nothing we can do until SM sacks the manager.

5th place Ajax will play host to 3rd placed Club America and this is a very dangerous game for the home side. CA are coming off only 1 win and three draws form their last 6 and will be desperate to stop the drop. Ajax should take the points but will need to avid being complacent.

Feyenoord will host Berlin and really I cannot see them losing. They are currently in fine form and are now the only team in the league remaining undefeated. Both teams will be at full strength with only bench players carrying minor injuries. Feyenoord are the team to catch at the moment and should knock up another win in this one.

Old rival managers Hudson and Christopher come face to face at the stadium of light. Both teams should be at full strength and look very evenly balanced.  Butland will need to be on his best behaviour in the Sunderland goal while his opposite number will be rested to give young Serebian Predrag Rajkovic a first start in the upcoming cup match. Hassen has been steady but nt brilliant and this may be seen as a chance for the number 2 selection to state his case for a promotion. Most likely result is a draw here I feel....although a little piece of brilliance from Roy Keane may just take the points.

Hanover ran Celtic around a bit in the last game without being able to take the points while Seattle did manage one point from their last start. Both teams again at full strength. Seattle may just be too strong across the pitch and I forecast an away win...although probably only by an odd goal.

Atletico Madrid will host Eintracht Frankfurt in the final match of the round and this is one that the home side must win to stay in touch with the rest of the pack. Madrid have home ground advantage plus Frankfurt will be without Correa and manager Lucas will be trying every trick he has to get his side over the line for this one. Unfortunately he will have to contend with Coman and Alli and these two are creating havoc with the opposition in most games they play. My head says Frankfurt for this one but I have a strange feeling that Lucas will pull something tactically brilliant out of the hat to keep his side in the division for next season. Home win forecast.

Great job you are doing with the write ups Gordon.

I would like to confirm a rule.

We have a maximum budget each season to spend but this increases with player sales included.

We can only spend this in the current season.

If i sell 4 players this season, i can only spend it this season but if i sell them at the start of next season, i can add the sales money to my budget next season, or not?

Thanks Paul....

The plan was always that we started with the first season budget however if you sell a player for 10 Mill this season you can reuse that 10Mill this season but it will not carry over. If you sell that player after the start of season 2...you can add the amount of the sale to whatever budget is then available to you....you are quite correct.

Cheers,

Man City have a potent strike force with Cambiasso MIna and Deeney and if Cologne cannot keep them under control it will be a home win....and I think it will! 1-0

As suggested the strike force was far too strong for the visitors. Cambiasso got an assist and Santi Mina opened the scoring for the home side on the half hour slotting the ball under the diving Donnarumma after a through ball from Deeney. Cologne were solid in the first half without being dangerous but in the second half City were just to strong and overran the Cologne defence. In the 69th minute El Ghazi found his way through to Deeney who flicked it past the keeper and in the 84th minute Cambiasso put MOTM Deeney clean through for his second. David Moyes has work to do with his side now in the drop zone.

Prediction: PSG are struggling to find consistency although they did manage a draw last time out. Newcastle have started to put together some positive results in a row with two wins of the from two and will be looking to continue their rise. Away win here. 1-1

PSG are still in the bottom three but have improved their chances with a strong home win against a Newcastle side that again seemed lethargic after a couple of strong performances.  The game was a bit flat early and it took until the 35th minute for Wayne Routledge to break the drought with a free kick from 25 yards that the wall failed to stop and it curled into the bottom corner with Rico rooted to the spot. PSG lifted after that and in the 61st minute Beavue put it beyond doubt after a distance shot dipped over Rico's head and into the net. Beavue took MOTM honors although Routledge will be disappointed with that, he also had a great game. Final Score 2-0

150x_Stuttgart_FC.jpg                    V                    150x_Guangzhou-Evergrande.jpg

Prediction: Stuttgart will host Guangzhou for what should be the easy points of this round. Nothing we can do until SM sacks the manager. 2-1

GOZZY IS BACK...great news. Still have not heard from him however. HINT HINT! It will be a tough ask for Gozzy to get his team back on track for this season after his absence and with only 30% possession one shot on goal was about the best they could manage. To make matters worse Boufal scored his fourth of the season in just the 5th minute latching on to a through ball from Nangis. in the 23rd minute MOTM Boufal turned provider, finding Burdisso 8 yards out and he fired a powerful shot home past the keeper. Guangzhou went into defensive mode in the second half and kept it to just the two. Manager KJKJ will be disappointed that his side could not put the visitors to the sword but credit to Guangzhou who fought on well. Final Score 2-0

150xafc-ajax.jpg                    V                    150x_clubamerica.jpg

Prediction: 5th place Ajax will play host to 3rd placed Club America and this is a very dangerous game for the home side. CA are coming off only 1 win and three draws form their last 6 and will be desperate to stop the drop. Ajax should take the points but will need to avid being complacent. 3-1

Club America have now collected only 5 points from the last 15 on offer and Manager Ancelotti must be concerned about the turn in fortunes. In a fiery game that saw Dos Santos sent from the field for Ajax for a straight red and Hysaj following him just 2 minutes later for a similar offense, Ajax controlled proceedings with a powerful performance. as a side note this reporter wishes to know why both players only get a 1 match ban for a straight red card...especially given that this is a second red for the season for Dos Santos.Even a 5th MOTM performance from GoalKeeper Tatarusanu failed to save his side. Telles opened the scoring after 33 minutes of CA resistance when a shot from 20 yards dipped over the keeper but the day may have been far different if Melgarejo had converted from the spot after just 14 minutes when Embolo was booked for a clumsy challenge on Baston. He missed...and that was about it for the day. CA shut up shop and tried to hit Ajax on the counter attack after the goal but once they got to 10-a-side the game opened up. In the 70th minute Dijks hit Embolo with a crisp pass that the striker hit first time into the back of the net but the goal was ruled offside. 5 minutes later A Suarez free kick found Embolo unmarked and it was 2-0. and only a minute later Embolo found Origi in a similar spot and then there was three. Janssen got the consolation goal for the visitors with 10 minutes left on the clock but by then the horse had bolted. Ajax showing signs of things to come Final Score 3-1

Both teams will be at full strength with only bench players carrying minor injuries. Feyenoord are the team to catch at the moment and should knock up another win in this one. 4-1

Feyenoord look more and more dangerous each round and gave Berlin a footballing lesson in this one-sided affair in Rotterdam. With just 8 minutes on the clock Laxalt played a square vall to MOTM Feret who fired it into the bottom corner from 12 yards. 16 minutes later Laxalt again found Feret, this time top corner was the target and 2-0 on the scoreboard. In the 34th minute Feret turned provider with a peach of a pass to Dahoud who made no mistake from 5 yards. A half time talk from Manager DON had some affect in the second half and the hoome side found it much harder to make progress but in the 77th minute Werner found Bailly running into a gap in the defence and his perfectly weighted pass was struck first time by the defensive midfielder. Final Score 4-0

150x_Sunderland.jpg                    v                  150x_Celtic.jpg

Prediction: Old rival managers Hudson and Christopher come face to face at the stadium of light. Most likely result is a draw here I feel....although a little piece of brilliance from Roy Keane may just take the points. 4-2

In a game of high drama and controversy Sunderland sneaked home with a 2-1 win over the visitors but Manager Christopher will be very disappointed with the way it occurred. Celtic had more of the ball but against the run of play Sisto opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he linked up with Mane. This coming right after Manquillo was booked for a tackle on Mane that even Mane seemed surprised to receive. Williams and Camarasa linked up well for the home side and Williams was unlucky not to make it 2 from another soft free kick courtesy of the referee. Williams was booked in teh 69th minute for a tackle on Briand tht was arguably a straight red but Briand got his revenge a minute later when he fired one into the top corner following a Maurice-Belay through ball. Then came more controversy as Wililams, who some would argue should not have still been on the pitch, played a throuh bal to Sisto who beat the diving keeper with a classy finish but replays showed Sisto to be offside. The flag stayed down and the points went to home side. Final Score 2-1

Seattle may just be too strong across the pitch and I forecast an away win...although probably only by an odd goal. 4-3

this forecast was again proven incorrect with yet another MOTM GK performance as Adrian held his team in the competition with some outstanding saves. in a fairly drab display N'Jie opened the scoring in the 36th minute when a through ball from Ronaldhino gave him an opening. That makes 7 for the season. Just after half time Adam had the ball in the net for the home side but was ruled offside and it wasn't until the 84th minute that Hanover could come up with an equalizer courtesy of Vazquez. Seattle could have lost it all in the last minute when Kraft made a world class save from a Cataldi Free Kick but the score remained 1-1

My head says Frankfurt for this one but I have a strange feeling that Lucas will pull something tactically brilliant out of the hat to keep his side in the division for next season. Home win forecast. 5-3

Well there is no doubt the prediction was sound but NO ONE could have guessed the drama that was about to unfold following the game. Manager Lucas certainly fired his side up for this one with Ighalo getting back on the score sheet in the 37th minute when Bakambu found him unmarked close to goal and he fired it in off the post. Just after half time it was 1-1 as Coman made it 6 for the season following some great work by Talisca. But Praet sealed a MOTM performance with a magnificent curling free kick that Sportiello did well to get a hand to but could not keep out. the win takes Madrid out of the relegation zone for now nd gives them something upon which to build. Stuttgart strangely also lifted in the table despite losing, courtesy of goal difference. However no one could have foreseen the drama that unfolded later that evening. Read on for more details.

BREAKING NEWS

An official announcement from Atletico Madrid has announced that young defender Jordan Lukaku has been stood down for "breaking the club code of conduct" following an incident after the home win. However unofficial sources have confirmed that the story is somewhat more humorous although understandable. The story goes that after the players had parted company following the game, Manager Lucas and his wife went out for dinner at a friends house. when they arrived they realized that they had left a gift for the hostess at home so Cameron dropped his lovely wife at the party and returned home to get the gift. Imagine his surprise when he returned home to find his 18 year old daughter in a VERY compromising situation with young Mr Lukaku on the sheepskin rug in front of the open fire in the den. Jordan has apologized to the club for his behavior to both his Gaffa and the club. When asked about the situation, Manager Lucas was heard to mutter something about hell and freezing. His daughter is said to be very upset with the situation but is hoping to catch up with Jordan, with her fathers permission this time, as they are very close. Jordan will now miss the next three games courtesy of a ban by the club. A spokesman for the club has said the matter is now considered closed.

Reading that I was expecting it to end with the wife and Jordan.
