BREAKING NEWS

488730664-e1453469371549.jpg

Sunderland have announced that striker Bretrand Traore will miss the next three games due to illness. Traore decided he should emulate Danny ings and get a tattoo following the draw against Newcastle and went off and did just that...in a rather unusual spot. The tattoo...which apparently reads Bobo or Bobo-Dioulasso (his place of birth) depending on the circumstances (I am sure you guys will understand) has turned septic leaving poor Bertrand confined to hospital. He will now miss the league games against Club America and Hertha Berlin PLUS the Cup Final against Stuttgart. Manager Huddo was obviously annoyed at his young star but could not hide a wry smile at the situation.

PREDICTION: PSG will host Man City in the opener for the round and will be looking to get back on track to get out of that drop zone and put a bigger gap between themselves and the light blues. This is a real 6-point game at the bottom of the table. Unfortunately for them I get the feeling Man City will be itching for survival and will win this one. 0-1 (great start)

Manchester City were restricted to just one shot on target as Paris St-Germain lifted themselves clear of the relegation battle, if only by 4 points. Rulli made three good saves in the first half to keep his side in the game but with only one minute on the clock in the second, Joselu smacked a free kick UNDER the leaping wall and into the corner to open the scoring. PSG continued to press and MOTM Joselu found Marquinho unmarked in the 66th minute to make it a two goal margin. Mina was booked near the end as he dropped back to help the defence. Final Score 2-0

150x1.-fc-koln-8.jpg                    V                     150x_Stuttgart_FC.jpg

PREDICTION: Cologne will play host to Stuttgart who won their first meeting. Cologne also are looking for points to get out of the nether regions but Stuttgart do not want to fall back into that group wither. Away win here. 0-2

Donnarumma clocked up his 9th MOTM award in goal for the home side as Cologne held Stuttgart at bay. Stuttgart had 7 shots on target but could not get the ball in the net. Cologne had one. Basically Cologne were poor and owed their point to their keeper and Stuttgart will come away very frustrated. Final Score 0-0

150x_newcastle.jpg                    V                     150xafc-ajax.jpg

PREDICTION: Newcastle will host Ajax who will be looking to find a spark and drag themselves off the bottom of the league. Ajax will be without defender Jedjav (injured) or Gudelj (susp) while Jese will be in the stands for United. Looks to me like a home win.0-3 (SIGH!)

With 61% of the ball and double the number of shots on target you wold have thought that Newcastle would have won this game with ease. Add to that a Charlie Austin goal in just the 16th minute and Manager Webb must have thought that he was on the way. Simply it seemed that his side got overly confident on the pitch and paid the price 5 minutes either side of half time. In the 40th minute MOTM Correa found Arias unmarked in the 6 yard box and the keeper stood no chance. 5 minutes the other side of the break and Suarez curls in a free kick and Correa leave Rico stood standing and Manager lauraV heaving a sigh of relief. . The downside for Ajax was the Red Card awarded to Dos Santos in the 52nd Minute. This means that Dos Santos has now been sent from the field three times giving Ajax 7 red cards for the season. This could be expensive when budgets are compiled for season 2.

150x_Guangzhou-Evergrande.jpg                    V                      150x_feyenoord.jpg

PREDICTION: Feyenoord travel to Guangzhou and the home side will be tough to beat on their own soil. The Dutchmen will travel without Vogt who is supended. The return of Ward-Prowse is a bonus for them however and they should be good enough to take the points...but they need to be careful. 1-3 (hoorah!)

Even a MOTM performance by goalkeeper Matz Sels could not prevent Feyenoord from taking all three points in this one-sided clash in the Tinhe stadium. 11 shots to 1 on target tells its own story and Manager Smut will be upset that his side could not get more on the scoreboard other than a 64th minute stunner from Moukandjo. Cork and Ward Prowse stood out for the visitors. Final Score 0-1

150x_clubamerica.jpg                    V                     150x_Sunderland.jpg

PREDICTION: Club America will see the stripes of Sunderland in their stadium in the next round and will be eager to bounce back from their last round loss. Sunderland won their last game but were not convincing. The teams have met twice this season with a draw and a Sunderland victory. I am forecasting a draw. (2-3)

Sunderland earned a creditable draw at the Estadio Azteca and it was a fine game by Tatarusanu and  MOTM performance by Baston that kept the home side from dropping the points. CB Vives contributed his first goal of the season in the 26th minute when he found himself 30 yards out and unleashed a rocket at the home goal which flashed into the top corner. In the second half the game came to life as CA began to take control of the match and Baston levelled the scores on the hour with a first time strike following a through ball from Ndong. Both teams had chances that did not find their way into the net and in the 74th minute the home side took the lead through Cheryshev with a shot that drifted over the keepers outstretched arm. At this point it looked like CA would hold on to take the points with Tatarusanu saving well from Ings after some good work from Miranchuk in the 76th minute. However with 7 minutes remaining the same two players combined to find the equalizer. Manager Whisperr will be disappointed not to pick up his first win. Final Score 2-2

150x_Hertha-BSC.jpg                      V                     150x_hannover-96.jpg

PREDICTION:Berlin, victorious in their last match will meet Hanover, also last game winners in a German derby that should be a cracker. Hanover however will be without Sane and Vazquez... both suspended, and I feel losing both of these creative players could be too much for them. Home win here. 3-3 (phew!)

For 45 minutes of hard football it looked like this game was destined to be a draw. Both side were putting in the extra effort and trying hard not to leave the opening that would cause them to lose the game. It took just over an hour for MOTM Zukanovic to fire a drive past Adrian and open the scoring for the home side. The visitors then had to come out and play and Depoitre was unlucky on the counter attack not to put his side two in front  just 5 minutes later when Adrian dived backwards to tip over an excellent effort. It looked like scores were level in the 76th minute when Amrabat got the ball into the net only to be ruled offside in a very tight decision.  4 minutes from time the hard working Shane Long found Depoitre with a deceptive through ball and the number 9 doubles the tally to give the home side the points. Berlin are shaping well under the new manager and moved to just one point behind their opponent with this result. Final Score 2-0

150x_Celtic.jpg                      V                    150xATMadrid.jpg

PREDICTION: Manager Christopher will renew his old rivalry with Manager Lucas when Madrid travel to Celtic park for their next game. Madrid will be seeking to show improvement after their last game but Celtic will be wanting to stay in touch with the top 2. Madrid will be without Jordan Lukaku and Hojberg is injured for the home side. This is a tight one to call but I will go for  home win. 3-4 (GRRR!)

Manager Christopher will be very disappointed that his side let this one slip away and this result probably means that the title is now a two-horse race. Celtic in third are now 8 points behind the leaders with 5 to play. Jan Kirchoff playing in a defensive midfield role looked really at home and not more so than when he strolled forward to scored his third of the season in just the third minute with a magnificent long-range strike that left the keeper with on chance. But they were unable to hold the lead and just 6 minutes later Madrid were awarded a contentious free kick just outside the box with Standera complaining bitterly to the referee that MOTM Sturaro had dived. Sturaro certainly recovered from his agonising tackle to strike the ball home around the wall and level the scores. From there the games ebbed and flowed as both sides sought to gain the ascendancy but the scores ended even. Final Score 1-1

150x_Seattle_Sounders_FC.jpg                    V                     150x_eintracht-frankfurt.jpg

PREDICTION: Leaders Seattle will host Frankfurt in the final game and a win would see the home side in a strong position as the league enters its final stages. With both sides at full strength Seattle should just have the edge and the N'Jie to win the game. Home win. 4-4

Seattle outplayed Frankfurt all over the park in this one sided affair that saw the home side with 60% of the possession getting 7 shots to 1 on target. Manager JustinX was pleased with the win but must be disappointed that score was not more in their favour. However that is probably down to another GK MOTM performance, this time by Sportiello. Number 10 Genki Haraguchi will probably be a bit miffed having scored both of his sides goals but failing to get the MOTm award and worse...losing it to the GK from the losing side. It took 38 minutes to open the csoring with Januzaj picking out Haraguchi who thumped one past Sportiello. But just 6 minutes later Correa found Juanfran in the box and the left back cut inside to level the scores. In the 63rd minute it was N'Jie, this time the provider, who opened up the defence for Haraguchi's second. Sportiello made some dazzling saves later in the game that kept the score reasonable. Final Score 2-1

MATCH DAY 26

PREDICTION: PSG will host Cologne in the opening round and a win for the home side will make it very difficult for the visitors to avoid the drop. On the other hand another win for PSg would pull them potentially 7 points clear of the drop zone. Both sides have all players available. Home win predicted.

PREDICTION: Newcastle will travel to Stuttgart looking to recover some pride after losing at home to Ajax in the last round. The home side will be without the injured Boufal. A draw is the most likely result.

PREDICTION: Ajax will host Guangzhou and a win for the Dutch side could see them also move 7 points clear of the drop zone and would just about condemn Guangzhou to Division two for next season dependant upon other results. Ajax will be without Dos Santos again through suspension but should be strong enough at home to win this.

PREDICTION: Second placed Feyenoord will be at full strength for their home fixture against Club America with Manager Whisperr still looking for his first win since joining the club mid season. CA will also have all players available for selection. A home win will keep the home side in pursuit of the title.

PREDICTION: Sunderland will walk out onto the Stadium of light with Hertha Berlin a point ahead of their opponents and very anxious to stay there to collect the extra transfer money available for season 2. Brooks is still injured for Berlin and will take no part in proceedings. This is a very dangerous game for the homoe side whose form has been inconsistent of late while Berlin continue to imrpove under the guidance of new manager Venk. Away Win Forecast.

PREDICTION: Celtic will travel to Hanover for what could prove to be a huge game for both clubs. A win for the home side would see them draw level on points and replace Celtic in third spot on goal difference. Celtic will be hoping for a win and a slip by the top clubs. Celtic are still without Hojbjerg. This game has all the makings of a fine draw.

PREDICTION: Madrid will welcome leaders Seattle to the Vincente Calderon for what promises to be a classic confrontation. Seattle looking to maintain their spot at the top and Madrid looking to reel them in. Draw forecast.

PREDICTION:  Eintracht will travel to Manchester to close the round and this should be a high scoring game with both sides playing open attacking football. Manchester have to get some points or relegation threatens and Frnakfurt do not want to drop closer to the drop which makes this an important game for both sides. Away Win forecast here.

On the other hand another win for PSG would pull them potentially 7 points clear of the drop zone. Both sides have all players available. Home win predicted.1-0

PSG made a solid statement of their desire to remain in Division One with a stunning 3-0 victory over Cologne today. Cologne had the bigger share of possession but could only create one chance. The game was fairly even until just before half time when MOTM Beavue linked up with Elia for the opening score. 8 minutes after the break Beavue himself slotted home with a fantastic strike from a free kick. Cologne tried hard but the game was in the bag in the 82nd minute when Routledge found Elia free in space again and the ball was back in the net again. PSG have pulled clear of the bottom three by 7 points with only four games remaining. and will feel more comfortable after this result. Final Score 3-0

150x_Stuttgart_FC.jpg                    V                    150x_newcastle.jpg

PREDICTION: Newcastle will travel to Stuttgart looking to recover some pride after losing at home to Ajax in the last round. The home side will be without the injured Boufal. A draw is the most likely result. 2-0

IN a very even tussle at the Mercedes Benz Arena Stuttgart were help to a draw by a strong Newcastle outfit. Australian Mile Jedinak opened the scoring for the home side in the 9th minute courtesy of a through ball from Polish star Milik and then the game became a real arm wrestle. It was an enthralling match to watch with both sides doing there best to break the other down to no avail although Austin had the ball in the net on the half hour only be ruled offside.. Either side of half time Newcastle broke through. In the 40th minute Skjelbred hit a superb strike past Areola to even the scores and only 3 minutes after the break Drinkwater lilfted a free kick over the wall that the keeper had no chance to reach. However they had only held the lead for two minutes when another poish import, Linnetty, found Ulloa unmarked and scores were even. Final Score 2-2

150xafc-ajax.jpg                    V                   150x_Guangzhou-Evergrande.jpg

PREDICTION: Ajax will host Guangzhou and a win for the Dutch side could see them also move 7 points clear of the drop zone and would just about condemn Guangzhou to Division two for next season dependant upon other results. Ajax will be without Dos Santos again through suspension but should be strong enough at home to win this. 2-1

LauraV will be disappointed with only a point but will be quietly pleased to have escaped with even that following a MOTM performance by Australian Matthew Ryan kept Ajax in the game. One goal apiece game within two minutes of each other when Suarez opened the scoring for the home sine in the 49th minute and the reply came from Gerson in the 51st to even it up again. The single point now means that Guangzhou become the first side whose relegation is confirmed. Manager Closer is a fighter however and we are sure that we will certainly be in the mix for a bounce back into the top flight. Final Score 1-1

150x_feyenoord.jpg                    V                    150x_clubamerica.jpg

PREDICTION: Second placed Feyenoord will be at full strength for their home fixture against Club America with Manager Whisperr still looking for his first win since joining the club mid season. CA will also have all players available for selection. A home win will keep the home side in pursuit of the title. 3-1

MOTM Moukandjo was a great signing for Feyenoord and has now scored 14 goals with 11 assists and 5 MOTM badges to his name. Club America simply could not break down the home defence and ended the match with not a single shot on target. Moukandjo was the provider for Germain just three minutes before half time as Feyenoord took a deserved lead. The only disappointment from Manager Smuts perspective would be that for all their dominance his side only scored two goals, and only one from open play, even though they had 10 shots on target through the game. Is was a foul on Ward-Prowse that led to the penalty which Moukandjo duly converted in the 82nd minute. The win means that Feyenoord are now second only on goal difference and Club america are only 5 points above the drop zone as their slide continues. Final Score 2-0

150x_Sunderland.jpg                    V                    150x_Hertha-BSC.jpg

PREDICTION: Sunderland will walk out onto the Stadium of light with Hertha Berlin a point ahead of their opponents and very anxious to stay there to collect the extra transfer money available for season 2. Brooks is still injured for Berlin and will take no part in proceedings. This is a very dangerous game for the homoe side whose form has been inconsistent of late while Berlin continue to imrpove under the guidance of new manager Venk. Away Win Forecast. 4-1

New Manager Venk is showed his experience as he led his side to a 2-0 win at the stadium of light, despite losing Cresswell to a second yellow card in the 52nd minute the home side were unable to find the way to goal. Berlin came to the match in a very physical frame of mind clocking up three yellow and one red card on the day and Sunderland simply could not cope with the pressure and hard attention of the visitors. Campbell scored the first for Berlin in the 38th minute, Depoitre was the provider. 7 minutes after the break, MOTM Kante spotted a gap in the wall following a foul and slotted it through to give Butland no chance. Final Score 2-0

150x_hannover-96.jpg                    V                    150x_Celtic.jpg

PREDICTION: Celtic will travel to Hanover for what could prove to be a huge game for both clubs. A win for the home side would see them draw level on points and replace Celtic in third spot on goal difference. Celtic will be hoping for a win and a slip by the top clubs. Celtic are still without Hojbjerg. This game has all the makings of a fine draw. 5-1

Leroy Sane was awarded the MOTM for a fine performance i which he scored his sides only goal. In a match where neither side could quite gain the upper hand it took 69 minutes before the scores changed. Barbosa took a corner for Hanover and Sane lost his marker and made it 1-0. The equalizer came just 3 minutes from the end when Jan Kirshhoff slammed one home after a pass from Maurice-Belay opened up the defence. Kirchhoff played a more defensive midfield role today rather than CB and seemed to enjoy the more advanced role. For Celtic this is the fourth draw in a row and while this keeps them in a reasonable position in the league it is simply not good enough for a team asprinmgin to make top spot.  Final Score 1-1

150xATMadrid.jpg                    V                    150x_Seattle_Sounders_FC.jpg

PREDICTION: Madrid will welcome leaders Seattle to the Vincente Calderon for what promises to be a classic confrontation. Seattle looking to maintain their spot at the top and Madrid looking to reel them in. Draw forecast. 6-1 (REALLY?)

In a cracking game of flowing attacking football both teams can go home knowing they did about all they could. When Ighalo scored the opener just 2 minutes in it looked like they could be on the way but just 5 minutes later Januzaj put the equalizer past Adan and it was game on. Both sides played creative attractive football in an open game but scores remained level. Ighalo was really creating some havoc in the visitors defence and this resulted in him being brought down in the box just on the hour. Duarez stepped up to convert from the spot to give the home side the lead. Madrid now cam under extreme pressure as the visitors went for the equalizer and it was N'Jie that drew the foul with just three minutes to go that found him at the penalty spot. adan got a hand to it but it was too strong and scores were level again. Final Score 2-2

150x_Manchester-City.jpg                    V                    150x_eintracht-frankfurt.jpg

PREDICTION:  Eintracht will travel to Manchester to close the round and this should be a high scoring game with both sides playing open attacking football. Manchester have to get some points or relegation threatens and Frankfurt do not want to drop closer to the drop which makes this an important game for both sides. Away Win forecast here. 1-7 (YES REALLY)

A combination of a great game from Kingsley Coman and a MOTM performance from Sportiello was enough to get Frankfurt all three points in their visit to the Etihad today. Coman latched onto a corner from Soderlund to open the scoring in the 16th minute and despite a fine game by Cambiasso, who scored form a penalty in the 33rd minute, City could not get back into the game. When the teams came out after half time City were still getting themselves together when Niang slotted one through to Soderlund and the visitors were back into the lead. Deeney tried hard and Correa did the same but the score did not change. Final Score 1-2

So at the top of the division with four to play Seattle and Feyenoord share the points 8 clear of Celtic so this is no a two horse race. At the bottom Guangzhou are relegated, Cologne and manchester City are the other two clubs in the bottom three. There is a 5 point gap between 14th and 13th, Ajax and Club America and Stuttgart are only 1 point further up the league.

OFFICIAL LIE
A special penalty will be applied to Ajax. This is because they did not win their game as predicted and mean I got 7-1 and not a perfect score.

Oh all right...I will forgive Laura THIS TIME. :)

MATCH DAY 27

PREDICTION: Cologne take on Man City in the opening game and one would have to think that Cologne will need to win this to have any chance of avoiding relegation. The most likely result here for me is a draw although City may struggle without Deeney who is suspended and also injured and may miss two games.

PREDICTION: Newcastle will host PSG. Dejagaere is out for the visitors and the Toon will be missing both Skelbred and Drinkwater through suspension. These two players have been vital to Newcastle and they will struggle to replace them. Away Win forecast.

PREDICTION: Stuttgart, minus Jeff Schlupp, will travel to Chine to play Guangzhou. With nothing to play for but pride Stuttgart should come away with the points.

PREDICTION: Club America will host Ajax adn the loser of this could find themselves right in the relegation mix. Both teams are at full strength and I am going for an away win.

PREDICTION: Venk's Berlin will host Smuts Feyenoord in what promises to be a cracking game in the German Capital. Berlin will be without Cresswell who is suspended. A draw is my call.

PREDICTION: In a battle of the great rivals Sunderland travel North of the border to play Celtic. Manager Christopher will be expecting a win for his side at home to give them any chance of getting closer to the top two AND staying ahead of Berlin. Hojbjereg is still out injured for the home side. Home win forecast

PREDICTION: Seattle will welcome Hanover to the USA as they strive to keep Feyenoord at bay. This is a game they should win. Home win forecast

PREDICTION: Finally Madrid travel to Frankfurt as 7th take on 8th both teams on 36 points. Ighalo is playing very well at the moment but so is Coman for the home side. I will plump for a draw because this is too hard to call.

Julian Brandt opened the scoring for City in the 19th minute and they seemed to be on the way. As the game progressed however they got less possession and it took another of those fantastic MOTM performances by a goalkeeper to keep the scores level after Ocampos slotted one home in the 50th minute to even up the scoreboard. Iheanacho was unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet...but did manage to get Van Beek into the book for a yellow card. This is probably not a good result for either team with a 5 point gap opening up between the 14th side and safety and Cologne now 7 points from safety with only three to play. Final Score 1-1

PREDICTION: Newcastle will host PSG. Dejagaere is out for the visitors and the Toon will be missing both Skelbred and Drinkwater through suspension. These two players have been vital to Newcastle and they will struggle to replace them. Away Win forecast. 1-1

Manager Webb got the real Newcastle to appear for this one at St James Park as a MOTM Jese goal right after half time became enough to separate the two sides. PSG could have done with one more win to ensure their separation from the drop zone and are 6 points clear of Man City with 3 to play. Newcastle better on the day with Austin unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when a great first time shot was ruled offside just on the hour mark. Austin was furious with the official and probably a tough lucky not to get booked. Final Score 1-0

PREDICTION: Stuttgart, minus Jeff Schlupp, will travel to Chine to play Guangzhou. With nothing to play for but pride Stuttgart should come away with the points. 2-1

As predicted a fairly comfortable win to the visitors which could have looked much worse without a MOTM effort by, YOU GUESSED IT, goalkeeper Sels. manager KJKJ will be disappointed with Boufal who managed to get himself sent off in a very undisciplined manner with 30 minutes to go. Oliveira scored both the visitors goals, the first after just 10 minutes and the second just over 10 minutes from the end. Stuttgart are now safely in miod table and can look forward to life in Division One next season. Final Score 0-2

PREDICTION: Club America will host Ajax adn the loser of this could find themselves right in the relegation mix. Both teams are at full strength and I am going for an away win. 3-1

manager LauraV obviously decided that it was time to go on the attack and MOTM Correa did not let her down with goals in the 55th and 85th minute. The home side struggled from the start to assert themselves in the first half which finished scoreless. Overall Ajax had more of the ball but shots on target were 6-3 in favour of the home side and Manager Whisperr will be disappointed his side did not convert more of the chances. On 55 minutes Correa opened the scoring latching on to a through ball from Origi but scores were level just two minutes later courtesy of a Janssen  stikre that sent Matt Ryan the wrong way in the visitors goal. A draw seemed imminent but Correa popped up again just 5 minutes from time to seal the win and a big breath of relief from the Ajax manager as hr team lifted to 7 points clear of the drop. Manager Whisperr however is right on the brink and will be looking for some points to avoid a relegation battle in the final weeks. Final Score 1-2

PREDICTION: Venk's Berlin will host Smuts Feyenoord in what promises to be a cracking game in the German Capital. Berlin will be without Cresswell who is suspended. A draw is my call. 3-2

In horse racing parlance Feyenoord stumbled as they entered the home straight in this enthralling encounter with Venks Berlin, who are going from strength to strength under their new manager. The visitors had more of the ball but lfewer shots on target. In a very tight and high quality game Depoitre became the hero, and MOTM, with a 50th minute goal that separated the two teams at the final whistle. Joel Campbell, who had only one minute earlier put Depoitre though on goal only to see a scuffed shot saved by Boruc, repeated the dose, this time with no mistake, and the game was won. Feyenoord are now 2 points behind the leaders with three to play as we get to the pointy end of the season. Final Score 1-0

150x_Celtic.jpg                    V                    150x_Sunderland.jpg

PREDICTION: In a battle of the great rivals Sunderland travel North of the border to play Celtic. Manager Christopher will be expecting a win for his side at home to give them any chance of getting closer to the top two AND staying ahead of Berlin. Hojbjereg is still out injured for the home side. Home win forecast 3-3

Sunderland Manager Huddo won bragging rights in this one as his side struggled to a 2-0 win at Celtic Park. This was highlighted by his dig at Manager Christpher at the press conference after the game, stating that the race for fourth place is hotting up. Sunderland now just one point behind Celtic who in turn are one point behind Berlin. Source thought they heard manager Christopher utter the words Smart Arse as he watched from the back of the press box, but no one could confirm this with actual footage. With less of the ball and fewer shots on target and with the home side boasting the MOTM (Stendera) it would have seemed that the home side deserved the win...but in the end the only stat that really counts is the score. Butland had a blinder in goal and this would be one of the few occasions where the goalkeeper deserved the MOTM award and did NOT get it as the young England keeper kept his side in the game with save after save. Tibbling scored both goals for his side. The first in the 18 minute when Inaki Williams found him clear and he slotted home. The young defensive midfielder, who is coming back to peak form after a long layoff recently, made it two in the 57th minute after Loric Cana had made things all level 50 minutes in. Celtic are staggering to the finishing line and more poor results could be costly in the cash tin with such a close league ladder. Final Score 1-2

Manager JustinX looked very pleased with himself, and his team, as Seattle made a strong statement in a comfortable home win against Hanover. 8 shots to 2 on target confirmed their superiority against a Hanover side that struggled to reach the peaks of recent good form. The start could not have been better as Januzaj received a long ball straight from the Kick Off and slotted home past Adrian who was still wondering if the whistle had gone. One minute...one goal and Hanover under real pressure. Seattle came again and again and just before half time N'Jie made it two latching onto a crisp pass from Januzaj who was proving a real thorn in the collective Hanover side. After the break Vazquez brought some hope to Manager Cesar with a classy finish from a Sane pass... but in the 65th minute Januzaj again got through, this time providing Haraguchi with the easiest of opportunities. Thomas Foket blotted his copy book again with a second red for the season when it was absolutely unnecessary with his team totally in control of the game and I am sure his manager will be having words with him about his discipline.  Final Score 3-1

150x_eintracht-frankfurt.jpg                     V                    150xATMadrid.jpg

PREDICTION: Finally Madrid travel to Frankfurt as 7th take on 8th both teams on 36 points. Ighalo is playing very well at the moment but so is Coman for the home side. I will plump for a draw because this is too hard to call. 4-4

In a very even match that lived up to predictions it took until the last minute for a Matias Suarez sceamer to separate the two sides in game that had looked destined for a draw. First half goals to MOTM Correa for Frankfurst (33) and Duncan for Madrid (22) had lent an air of the inevitable draw to the match in a tightly fought encounter but Suarez was destined to bring a huge smile to the face of Manager Lucas as the end drew nigh. Manager Closer will be disappointed that his side conceded both of the only two shots on target by the visitors. Atletico moved up to 6th place while Frankfurt dropped to 10th. Final Score 1-2

MATCH DAY 28

PREDICTION: Cologne will host Newcastle first up in this round needing a win with absolute certainty to avoid the drop to Div 2 football. Both sides are at full strength with newcastle on a high after a last match win. Cologne to struggle...Away win forecast.

PREDICTION: Paris St Germain will be hoping to secure their Div One status when Guangzhou come to visit. Both sides at full strength but the need to win will be enough to get PSG home.

PREDICTION: Stuttgart will welcome Club America without the suspended Boufal. CA have Ndong out through injury. Last time they met it was a 0-0 draw and I predicting a similar result.

PREDICTION: Ajax have a tough task when they welcome Hertha Berlin to De Kuip. They are still in need of another win to secure Division One safety and Berlin are winning more and more as the end of the season approaches. Away win forecast.

PREDICTION: Feyenoord will be hoping that Celtics bad run of form continues when they arrive in Rotterdam for their next game. Celtic will be looking to change a few things to get back onto the winners podium. Hojbjerg is still missing through his long term knee injury.  Feyenoord need the win to stay in touch with the leaders and with the home ground advantage should take the prize. However if Celtic can re-find their earlier season form an upset is on the cards. Home win here.

PREDICTION: Sunderland will play host to Seattle looking to increase the gap on the chasing pack. Foket is out suspended and will be missed but the visitors will have too much firepower for the home side. Away win forecast.

PREDICTION: another German derby this week sees Frankfurt travel to Hanover. Last time these sides met it was a 1-1 draw however a win to the visitors could see them overtake Hanover in the league...and their is cash on the line for next season. Home win in a tight one.

PREDICTION: Manchester City will host Madrid in the final game with City desperate for a win to avoid the drop. Atletico on the other hand are reaching for a higher finish and will be too good on the day. Away win here.

PREDICTION: Cologne will host Newcastle first up in this round needing a win with absolute certainty to avoid the drop to Div 2 football. Both sides are at full strength with newcastle on a high after a last match win. Cologne to struggle...Away win forecast. 0-1

In a tough physical game that saw 6 yrlloe cards, only one of which was to Newcastle, Cologne showed that all the fight has not gone from them as they struggle to get out of the drop zone although this is looking evermore unlikely. Charlie Austin opened the scoring i the 25th minute to put the visitors in front latching on to a perfect free kick from Drinkwater. Donnarumma made a couple of good saves to keep his side in the game but Cologne started to fight their way back into the game. In the end it was MOTM midfielder Rabiot who bent a crisp free kick around the wall with only three minutes to go to even the scores. Cologne will be pleased with their effort and intensity while Newcastle will be disappointed that they did not come away with all the points. Final Score 1-1

PREDICTION: Paris St Germain will be hoping to secure their Div One status when Guangzhou come to visit. Both sides at full strength but the need to win will be enough to get PSG home. 0-2

It was a very even match at the Parc De Princes and Guanzhou showed that, despite their relegation being certain now, they have spirit and are still dangerous. Plus while PSG are looking safe now to remain in the top league, they should not let points slip the way they did here. It was not a high standard game with both teams guilty of missing passes and an inability to make openings to score. In the end the class of 19 year old Dembele shone through for a moment enabling him to find Oyarzabal unmarked and able to slot the ball home for the winner just four minutes from time. Final Score 0-1

PREDICTION: Stuttgart will welcome Club America without the suspended Boufal. CA have Ndong out through injury. Last time they met it was a 0-0 draw and I predicting a similar result. 0-3 (sigh)

With three goals coming in the first half it seemed this one may be a real high scoring affair. MOTM put Milik through on goal in the 4th minute to start the ball rolling and in the 23rd minute the roles were reversed as Tatarusanu made a fantastic save to keep the score at just one. In the 36th minute Oliveira was awarded a free kick and hit a screamer from 25 yards that gave the keeper no chance and CA looked in trouble. However just on the beat of half time Christensen played a long through ball to Baston who ran in on goal and beat the keeper to get his side back in touch. However the second half became a drab affair as the home side sat back and successfully defended their lead although a free kick from Sanches on the hour found Janssen who forced an acrobatic save from Areola to keep his side in front. Final Score 2-1

PREDICTION: Ajax have a tough task when they welcome Hertha Berlin to De Kuip. They are still in need of another win to secure Division One safety and Berlin are winning more and more as the end of the season approaches. Away win forecast. 1-3 (hoorah)

A goal from Zukanovic in the 5th minute and a MOTM performance from Kasper Schmeichel was enough to see Berlin continue on their winning way and it seem Manager Venk will be after a bigger contract for next season. Berlin defended their lead well slowing the game down at every opportunity and the home side could not find  a way to break through. Final Score 0-1

However if Celtic can re-find their earlier season form an upset is on the cards. Home win here. 1-4

Feyenoord let the home points slip through their fingers as they played out a draw with Celtic who now have four draws in the their last five games and have now aolmost certainly handed the title to Seattle.. Celtic set up deep and looked to strike on the counter but that all went a bit awry when Boke gave away a silly penalty in the 54th minute and MOTM Moukandjo made no mistake from the spot. The home side kept the pressure on but were unable to convert a couple of good half chances and paid the penalty in the 72nd minute when Milinkovic-Savic found the top corner with a crisply taken free kick to even the score. Final Score 1-1

PREDICTION: Sunderland will play host to Seattle looking to increase the gap on the chasing pack. Foket is out suspended and will be missed but the visitors will have too much firepower for the home side. Away win forecast. 2-4

Seattle all but sealed the title with an outstanding away win at the Stadium of light. Sunderland took the lead through Camasara in the 12th minute and all positive for them but the visitors came back at them hard. Butland made a strong save from Januzaj but could do nothing about the postage stamp strike from Haraguchi after 24 minutes to even the scores. Half time 1-1. With Tolisso, N'Jie, Ronaldinho and Camasara all looking dangerous it was MOTM Tolisso who struck in the 57th minute to give his side the lead. 5 minutes later scores were level again as Camasara whipped in a free kick for Esgaio to even the scores again. IN their efforts to defend Sunderland gave away a penalty on 71 minute for N'jie to slot home the winner. Great game and congratulations to Seattle who still need onemmore win to seal the title. Final Score 2-3

Home win for sure but it was anything but tight as Hanover romped to a 4-0 win over Frankfurt who seemed to be still enjoying their cup victory over Celtic. The 9 shots on target to one stat demonstrates clearly the superiority of the home side who opened the scoring in the 3rd minute through Barbosa from a free kick given away as the home side rushed forward from the kick off. MOTM Vazquez became the supplier for Sakho on 21 minutes giving the keeper no chance. After the break it was more of the same withe Amrabat the supplier for Vazquez to make it three on 50 minutes and with about ten minutes to go Hanover sealed the deal with a fourth courtesy of Morel. Final Score 4-0

PREDICTION: Manchester City will host Madrid in the final game with City desperate for a win to avoid the drop. Atletico on the other hand are reaching for a higher finish and will be too good on the day. Away win here. 3-5

Manchester City showed that they are well and truly still in the fight to avoid relegation beating the visiting Madrid in a tight affair at the Emirates. Deeney got back on the score sheet after just 14 minutes courtesy of some great work from Brandt but the lead did not last long as Ighalo showed his skills to convert from a Duncan free kick. Just as the draw looked like the result Brandt again found Deeney who made it two with 6 minutes left on the clock. It was a just reward for the home side. Adan had kept the visitors in the game with a MOTM performance but it was not enough. Final Score 2-1

PREDICTION: Manchester City will travel to Newcastle needing a win to save their season. Both sides will be at full strength but I think it will be a home win.

PREDICTION: Guangzhou will host Cologne who can mathematically avoid the drop but it will be tough for them. Again both sides at full strength. Cologne have only managed 5 draws and a loss form their last six and a draw is about the best they can do here I feel. Draw is forecast.

PREDICTION: Club America will host PSG with both sides looking to get away from the drop. With CA just above the drop Zone on 33 they are two points clear of man City and only one point below PSG. This is a real 6-point game. A win for either side will almost assure them of Div one football in season two...the loser could be in real trouble if Man City pull off a win. Forecasting a home win.

PREDICTION: Venk's Berlin will host Stuttgart looking to confirm their third spot on the ladder. Both sides at full strength probably means a home win.

PREDICTION: Celtic will play Ajax at Celtic park looking for their first win in a while. All they seem to be able to do at the moment is draw. They SHOULD be too strong for Ajax but in the current mind set...who knows. They will also be without Kirchhoff, Hojbjerg and Briand. With those missing players it could be a tough ask. I will go for another draw.

PREDICTION: The top two will face off in the match of the round and if Seattle are going to be caught Feyenoord must win this game. The visitors will be without Dahoud who is injured. Seattle beat them 4-0 last time they met and revenge will be almost important as the points. I will go for the shock away win.

PREDICTION: Frankfurt will host Sunderland and should be safely set for top grade football in the coming season. Sunderland Manager Huddo is desperate to get above his old rival Celtic Manager Christopher so will be working very hard to get the away win. The home side will be without Soderlund through injury. forecast a draw here

PREDICTION: Hanover will travel to Madrid on the back of a four goal win in the last round and Atletico seeking to improve to get further up the table. Both sides are at full strength but the home side are on fire at the moment and this should be a home win.

PREDICTION: Manchester City will travel to Newcastle needing a win to save their season. Both sides will be at full strength but I think it will be a home win. 1-0

A MOTM performance by their goalkeeper was not enough for Manchester City to grab the points at St James. Troy Deeney also contributed hugely to his side with a couple of shots in the first half that went wide or were saved and also played El Ghazi into a good position but to know avail. One minute into the second half it was Deeney again, this time to Brandt, who opened the scoring and give the visitors the lead and then for some reason City took the foot off the pedal. With Newcastle starting to find some space it took just 8 minutes for jese to find Austin unmarked and scores were even. Now the fight was on and Austin came close again but with 20 to go it was Jese who provided the pass again, this time for Rolan to put his side in the lead. Some very slick Newcastle defense saw a goal disallowed for Offside - Deeney again, and with the way he played it is difficult to understand how he did not win the MOTM.With one round to go Manchester City need a big win and need Club America to lose if they are to remain in the top flight. Final Score 2-1

In a game where possession was about even Colgne simply could not create enough chances to get the win that would keep them from the drop and they are now confirmed as the second team relegated. A goal by MOTM Vecino was the decider in this game but the home side were unfortunate not to get a second when Oyarzabal was ruled offside after slotting home just before the hour mark. Kranevitter had one of his better games and pulled a couple of good saves from Sels but it was not to be. Cologne will now join Guangzhou in rebuilding for a return to the top flight.

Forecasting a home win. 1-2

A draw in this match was enough for PSG who are now save for this season. Club America are still outside the drop Zone but a loss in their final game and a win to Man City could still see them relegated on the last day. PSG Keeper Zoet won MOTM in a game where no one else deserved it. Final Score 0-0

PREDICTION: Venk's Berlin will host Stuttgart looking to confirm their third spot on the ladder. Both sides at full strength probably means a home win. 1-3

Hertha Berlin slipped up on a Stuttgart banana peel courtesy of Australian captain Mile Jedinak's first half brace. Jedinak will have to buy a beer for Piotr Zielinski however as it was the Polish winger was the provider for both his goals.  Zielinski found Jedinak unmarked with a great cross to the top of the box in the 23rd minute and the midfielder fired one into the bottom corner for the lead. 5 minutes before half time the same two players linked up again for Jedinak to catch the keeper off his line and strike a dipping shot that beat him cold. Berlin came back hard at the visitors but were unable to breach the defence. Manager Venk will be disappointed with the result which saw his side slip to 4th place on goal difference to Celtic who regained their composure against Ajax. Final Score 0-2

They SHOULD be too strong for Ajax but in the current mind set...who knows. They will also be without Kirchhoff, Hojbjerg and Briand. With those missing players it could be a tough ask. I will go for another draw. 1-4

Manager Christopher reorganized his team into a 3-5-2 formation for this game and while possession and shots on target were fairly even the new shape seemed to give his strikers the space and support they needed to be clinical on the day. With Aussie keeper Matt ryan having an off day the home side converted every one of their 5 shots on target to record a famous win. Pienaar opened the scoring in the 10th minute from a free kick when Maurice-Belay was brought down and the dipping shot over the wall was missed by Ryan who seemed to lose the flight of the ball completely. With Benjamin Mendy playing a more forward seeking role on the left it was in the 23rd minute tht he cut inside to receive a pass from MOTM Keane who slotted into the top corner. It would get even worse for the visitors when Maurice-Belay was brought down in the box and converted his own penalty for the home side to go in 3-0 up at the break. Just 3 minutes after half time it seemed Ajax may be on the comeback trail when Origi found Suarez in the clear and he beat Hassen sending him the wrong way. Suarez had a similar chance a few minutes later but this time hit the ball straight at a grateful keeper. On the hour the home side re-established the lead with Maurice-Belay providing Keane with the space to score his 11th of the season. Ajax were just unable to get back into the game and in the dying minutes Pienaar extended the lead again follow more great work by Maurice-Belay. After the game Manager Christopher raised some wry smiles in the press box when one of the journalists asked him if he had any message for Sunderland Manager Huddo following the remark that the battle for fourth spot was heating up after his loss to the North of England cup a couple of games back. After a moments thought he asked if anyone had the results for the day as he had not seen the league table and he was wondering if Sunderland could still be mathematically relegated after their loss today stating he would hate to see his old friend in Division two. Final Score 5-1

Seattle beat them 4-0 last time they met and revenge will be almost important as the points. I will go for the shock away win. 1-5

In a game where the goalkeepers were the best players on the field neither side could exert their authority enough to get a win and this result see congratulations to Seattle who are the inaugural league champions for the Carpe Diem competition. It seemed only logical that when the goals came they would be within a few minutes of each other so even was this match. Germain opened the scoring for the visitors on 50 minutes meeting the ball from a Propper pass on the edge of the 6-yard box and sliding the ball under the diving keeper and it was also only fitting that it would be the leagues leading goal scorer Clinton N'Jie that would score the leveler for the Champions following a defence splitting pass from the veteran Ronaldinho just three minutes later. Final Score 1-1

Sunderland Manager Huddo is desperate to get above his old rival Celtic Manager Christopher so will be working very hard to get the away win. In a game that never reached great heights and where each side managed only one goal on target Frankfurt stole all three points with a 55th minute goal courtesy of Coman and MOTM Niang who slotted it home. This result has Sunderland slip to eighth on the table 2 points behind derby rivals Newcastle and one point above Frankfurt and Madrid. Final Score 1-0

150xATMadrid.jpg                    V                   150x_hannover-96.jpg

PREDICTION: Hanover will travel to Madrid on the back of a four goal win in the last round and Atletico seeking to improve to get further up the table. Both sides are at full strength but the home side are on fire at the moment and this should be a home win. 1-7 (SOB!)

Again the goals here all came in the second half with Madrid opening the scoring in the 49th minute thought Bakambu. Hanover fought back well to equalise through Vazquez and the game seemed to be heading for a draw. With just 3 minutes to go Amrabat found a gap in the defence and Charlie Adam touched it home for Hanover to steal the points. Final Score 1-2

MATCH DAY 30

FINAL ROUND - CONGRATS TO JUSTIN AND THE SOUNDERS

Match One - Newcastle host Guangzhou and a win could see them as high as 5th spot. Guangzhou are relegated by are showing better form at the end of the season. Home Win Forecast

Match Two - Cologne host Club America. This is a MUST WIN OR DRAW game for Club America to be certain of avoiding the drop. Manchester City are in the drop Zone but a win in the final round and a loss to CA will see positions reverse. Away win here

Match Three - Paris St Germain will play Berlin at the Parc Des Princes. PSG really cannot improve their situation but can avoid a lower position which brings less income for next season. Berlin oon the other hand can steal 4th place from Celtic with a win depending on the other teams results. Berlin to win

Match Four - Stuttgart host Celtic. Stuttgart can pull level on points with the Celts if they win although it would have to be a slaughter for them to achieve a better goal difference and this is unlikely. A win for Celtic should confirm 3rd spot. Away Win Forecast

Match Five - Champions Seattle travel to Ajax with nothing to play for and Ajax now cannot be relegated so nothing much more than pride rides on this fixture. Away Win forecast

Match Six - Feyenoord will host Frankfurt in a game which is also meaningless for them as the teams behind them cannot catch them and the team above cannot be caught. Frankfurt cannot be caught by the teams below them but can improve their finances a little. Home win Forecast

Match Seven - Huddo take on Lucas at the stadium of light. The two Aussie managers will contest and depending upon results Sunderland could finish anywhere between 6th and 10th depending upon results. Atletico however can get past them with a win. This one is certainly for bragging rights.

Match Seven - Manchester City will be visited by Hanover in the final game of the season. Again depending upon results they could finish as high as third or drop to 7th. Manchester have it all to play for A win will lift them to equal 13th with Club America and if CA were to lose the goal difference would favour City.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL
