Rahul W's rating predictions

Recommended Posts

Bit unexpected but they've dropped basically every player who has been injured throughout the season. They've been ruthless with rating drops this time around. De Gea isn't going to rise any time soon and the difference in ability between Neuer and De Gea isn't that great, so ratings at the top for goalkeepers seem about right. Buffon should decrease when Italy is reviewed and for me Courtois isn't a 93 rated keeper anymore but can't see him going down. I imagine Oblak, Ter Stegen, Ederson and Alisson will all rise.

Real Madrid's three UCL wins in a row is enough to prove that their current squad is on a higher level than most of the players in the game. For this, I believe some of their players deserve an increase for their impact and for their legendary status.

Modric, Kroos, Marcelo, Ramos, Navas, Carvajal, Casemiro deserve a +1 increase in rating. Yes, Modric & Kroos deserve to be 96, when Xavi hit 97 and Gerrard hit 97 in the game 10 years ago with Liverpool. They're not strikers/attacking players so many will ridicule my opinion, but they have an equal impact on the game from their position like Suarez (97) Neymar (96) and Lewa (96) do as strikers. Ramos, Navas, Carvajal & Casemiro are debatable but the latter duo deserve a +1 too.

While i agree with you that some of them may deserve some rises, specially Kroos, Modric and Ramos, Real Madrid clearly highly prioritize Champions League, that's one of the main reasons they were so successful in winning 3 years in a row, besides of course of having a very good starting XI. The reason that i think we should take it easy on all those team rises is that not so stellar 3rd place in La Liga, 17 points behind Barcelona(they've won La Liga and the Spanish Cup) and even behind Atletico (which won Europa League, teams which Real Madrid really never managed to win in La Liga this season and of course also having into account that they lost to the modest team of Leganés for the Cup.

This Real Madrid starting XI is really experienced, full of Champions League winners (even in previous clubs), world cup and European championship winners, so with that amount of skill and experience it's no really big surprise that they've been so successful in Champions League this past few years. But they as a whole squad didn't show that much consistency, and that was demonstrated by finishing 3rd in La Liga and finishing 2nd in the Champions League group.

All of this to say that the Real Madrid team isn't head and shoulders above the top 5 teams in Europe, but they've smartly prioritize the competition that they've wanted to win, and they did it.

Luis  Suarez -1? Not that he has been bad this season, but I don't think he deserves to be rated 97, third best in the game...

I'm not seeing a reason why he should drop, playing a full season with Barcelona(La Liga and Cup winners) with 30 goals and 14 assists on both competitions, only less than Messi and Ronaldo. Sure, he's record on Champions League this season wasn't the best, but again, neither was Messi's. And he's still going to play in WC for Uruguay.

I've got offers for Nastasic and Kosc. Kindly confirm whether these are good deals

I'm selling the duo : Nastasic + B.Traore for Icardi (Traore to cover the loss of Icardi for the other manager as he got Aguero as well).

I'm selling Kosc: Kosc + some cash for Chiesa (Chiesa will cover up my Traore loss)

good deal for Icardi

All great options. Nacho and VVD should hit 91 next few weeks. Sanchez and Skriniar be 90 also at least.

Think he will hold for one more season yet. Slightly on the wane given his high standards but none the less still had a good season
