Feared for the worst after Genk's draw and Brugge conceding early doors but all in all a decent Thursday night (for the coefficient). At home Genk should be able to knock out Slavia and Brugge have shown in the CL that they can put in a solid defensive performance when needed. Would be great if next week both Brugge and Genk advance.

Oh yea, until tonight Salzburg hadn't lost a game in a very long time. Their last defeat dates back to May 2018.

RB Salzburg wasn't fit enough to beat Club Brugge thursday, I think. It's still a difficult job for Club Brugge to go through next week. I expect another RB Salzburg in their home country..

For KRC Genk, it will depend if Alejandro Pozuelo stays or not… 😕

Granted RB Salzburg didn't play a competitive tie since December but they did have those friendlies and the Atlantic Cup. Never paid attention to that (training camp) cup but seeing the Atlantic League idea has been bandied around a few times Belgian, Dutch, Portuguese, Scandi, ... teams could compete in such a cup competition first.

Luckily RB Salzburg have just one week to get up to speed. They do have the away goal but I wouldn't put it past Brugge to keep a clean sheet in the return. After all Brugge did perform admirably in the CL with clean sheets against Monaco (were a mess though), Dortmund and Atleti.

PS I guess Pozuelo can't get more than 87 at Genk but do you feel he merits a +1?

The title race in Belgium's 2nd division is extremely tight. With two games to go Beerschot and KV Mechelen are equal on points, matches won and GD (Beerschot are ahead because they've scored one more goal, the 4th tie-breaker).

If Beerschot come top this round we'll get play-offs. If Mechelen come top they'll gain promotion without the need for play-offs. And then there's still the matchfixing case. Mechelen could be relegated instead (the verdict is expected to be announced in the beginning of March).

Engels and Foket are doing quite well at Reims. An EL spot for Reims would be a nice reward.

I want an opinion by an expert: is better Foket or Castagne?

Not in SM, but in real life

Because in August 2017 my team (Atalanta) was about to take Foket, but he didn't passed the medical examination, so we took Castagne, such a good player, he is finally in the line-up.

P.s. if you want some news about how is doing etc I can give you, since I see all the matches

Thanks for your opinion

At the time Foket. Before his heart condition was diagnosed he was lined up for the national team, won the title with Ghent (first title for a club that's been around for well over 100 years) and they did very well in the CL (advancing from the groups).

At the moment it's Castagne. He's closer to a spot in the national team now (he failed to impress though but we have patience and a lack of options). Lately Castagne also has been receiving more plaudits than Foket. Caveat: people look down on Ligue 1. Atalanta on the other hand is known for bringing through youth.

I'm always happy to hear about how Belgians are doing abroad. So feel free to share.

@thorgan lesar is the expert and he probably has a better idea. I mostly watch on European nights (or when they play for country).

I'm also going with Timothy Castagne. He can play left and at the right and it's more difficult to break through in Italy. Foket is doing well, but I chose Castagne.

I see almost all the Belgian players playing, but it's always better to hear an opinion from people from there. So be my guest :)
