Belgium risers

As promised the 3th update about Belgium (there will be 8 -10 updates :))

Not in database yet

The players in Italic played already for their teams.

- Hassane Bandé (4 matches/8 matches, 4 goals)

- Eden Zhegrova (2 matches/8 matches)

- Emmanuel Banda (4 matches/8 matches)

All these 3 players are new from in the summer, so statics doesn't say something in their case. Zhegrova comes out the youth of KRC Genk. The other 2 are found by scouts, thanks to KV Mechelen and KV Oostende.

Tomorrow

I will start with the squads of the teams, so you can find on "The Best of Belgian football".

Thanks to you all.

Bande looks exciting.

How is Henry Onyekuru doing?

And Eupen, any players there doing well, they are suffering this season. I like Wague the fullback.

Onyekuru is the only player that is playing on his level for the moment in RSC Anderlecht. Deserves a +1. I think you like Wague, because he is 18 years old. He is adapting on the level in Belgium, but for the moment not someone who is "must buy". Diawandou Diagne is doing well as a defensive midfielder. He has rate 82 and deserves a +2. You can find him in the "riser list" and Lazare is back. He needs to confirm the level from last season. It's not going that easily for him, but that's normal in the beginning of the season where you need to confirm. He is a nice talent, so if he work hard enough he can go through this period and then he will play for RSC Anderlecht or maybe KAA Gent next season.

Zinho Vanheusden tore his ACL in a Youth League game and his season is pretty much over. Maybe he'll get a few games when the season winds down. The infographic says up to 6 months but it could be more including a return to being fully match fit. With Skriniar and Miranda ahead of him he would have been handed limited time on the pitch. Chances could have arisen though. Injuries like these are quite harmful to a young talent's development, you don't wish them on anyone and it's even more of a shame as Belgium's defence needs new blood (and Inter looking to bring through a new Bonucci). Kabasele seems to be doing well though.

Oh yea the Pro League's coefficient is well and truly fvcked now. Ukraine is going to overtake Belgium and get a top seed in the CL draw AGAIN. This season in Europe looks to be set to end in a complete and utter disaster. Turkey are making up a lot of ground and if they do well Belgium might even drop to 10th.

Too bad :(. A lot of unluck for Zulte Waregem (Lazio and OGC Nice) and RSC Anderlecht (PSG and Bayern Munich) also ! It's too bad, but it's football. Next year time to fight back.

Sure, just a shame because there was a window of opportunity to win an extra CL spot with the higher ranked countries getting poor results. Now you can have very decent results for the next 4 years but the current one will just drag you down. If Belgian clubs aren't careful they could drop as a brick. Holland was very much in danger of dropping to 16th place before PSV got results in the CL (which would have left them with only 1 team that usually fails to qualify for the CL group stage). Small differences have big consequences. Had Belgian clubs been paying a tiny bit more attention in the last 5 years they could have benefitted a lot (e.g. better seeding to avoid hard draws and they could have had that plenty of times).

With this selection Roberto Martinez made an awful impression.

Why ?

1) 4 goalkeepers, why ?

2) Vincent Kompany (Pep Guardiola already said he can't play against Cyprus and Bosnia), Marouane Fellaini and Nacer Chadli have injuries.

3) Axel Witsel had a red card against Greece and may not play.

4) Kevin Mirallas didn't play a minute

5) Dedryck Boyata just back from injury, Christian Kabasele is playing well now in the Premier League. What an awful decision.

6) Stop with Dendoncker in the defence, his position is the '6'.

7) Ignores Radja Nainggolan again and his arguments are bull.

8) Now is the time to give some players like Timothy Castagne, Dennis Praet, Adnan Januzaj, Landry Dimata chances in the first team. In a couple of months we are too close to the World Championship. Now it's the time to see what some other players can do.

9) A bit the same as point 8, but no new names :/.

10) This selection is on short term

Thanks Roberto, I'm someone who defends coaches till the end. But today an awful performance from our head coach Roberto Martinez.

With this selection Roberto Martinez made an awful impression.

Why ?

1) 4 goalkeepers, why ?

Others, like England, have started following Belgium's lead. It does no harm, rather it could be beneficial, and Martinez is paying for an extra GK coach, a Catalan friend, from his own pocket. Don't mind this bit but was disgusted about other choices. Especially Nainggolan's exclusion, AGAIN, is very hard to swallow.

With Benteke out poor Henry has a striker less to work with.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

2) Vincent Kompany (Pep Guardiola already said he can't play against Cyprus and Bosnia), Marouane Fellaini and Nacer Chadli have injuries.

Hazard too has been returning from injury/regaining match fitness and Conte brought him back slowly.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

3) Axel Witsel had a red card against Greece and may not play.

His tackle wasn't even that bad and didn't warrant a red. A yellow sufficed. Now he'll be coming all the way from China while he's only eligible to play against Cyprus. It's pretty much a training camp as far as Witsel is concerned.

With Witsel, Dembele, Nainggolan and probably Fellaini ruled out who'll start against Bosnia? Bosnia need a win, play at home and usually try to go on the attack. However Pjanic is injured and they don't have much other options to add creativity. They can try to outmuscle and outrun us. IIRC Besic did just that the last time we played in Bosnia (lots of end-to-end stuff). Martinez said he thinks in pairs of players rather than individuals. He might be considering to pair Defour with one of Tielemans/Dendoncker (on the back of their Anderlecht days). They would have quite a battle on their hands.

I'd still go with KDB in midfield and Defour because our options are limited. On the bench we'd only have Tielemans as they keep listing Dendoncker alongside our defenders (for a reason I guess) but yes he should be listed as (holding) midfielder. That's not an appealing bench with the form they've displayed lately. Nainggolan could have done a great job for us. If we lose this game Martinez will have invited a media sh1tstorm upon himself.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

4) Kevin Mirallas didn't play a minute

Vermaelen, Chadli, Tielemans, Michy, Hazard, et al. haven't played or were handed few starts. Nainggolan OTOH played plenty.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

5) Dedryck Boyata just back from injury, Christian Kabasele is playing well now in the Premier League. What an awful decision.

Very odd that Martinez didn't call up Kabasele. Instead he picked Dendoncker, Vermaelen, Boyata, Ciman and an injured Kompany over him. Denayer hasn't played much but can't tell if he deserved inclusion as I don't follow Turkish football (probably he didn't merit a call-up). I watch very little Greek football as well (basically the odd game in Europe) but I heard Engels is working out well and could have been considered. Ignoring Kabasele was yet another mistake.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

6) Stop with Dendoncker in the defence, his position is the '6'.

Did he even merit a call-up based purely on form?

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

7) Ignores Radja Nainggolan again and his arguments are bull.

Dembele (out), Fellaini (injury doubt), Defour (nowhere near Radja's level), Tielemans (playing very little ATM and still has ways to go), Witsel (playing in a sub-par league and serving a match ban during the Bosnia game). How can you leave Nainggolan out? Not even an option from the bench while he should be a nailed on starter, especially in the game against Bosnia.

16 hours ago, thorgan lesar said:

8) Now is the time to give some players like Timothy Castagne, Dennis Praet, Adnan Januzaj, Landry Dimata chances in the first team. In a couple of months we are too close to the World Championship. Now it's the time to see what some other players can do.

9) A bit the same as point 8, but no new names :/.

10) This selection is on short term

Thanks Roberto, I'm someone who defends coaches till the end. But today an awful performance from our head coach Roberto Martinez.

- Svilar could have benefitted from the extra GK coach instead of Sels. It's never a bad thing to give youngsters a look in/have a direct connection with the first team and get to know the other players.

- Leon Bailey is 20 now. A choice about his future as an international beckons. He could be at the start of a breakthrough season in the BuLi. However he's Jamaican with much weaker links to Belgium. I'd be against pursueing him because we'd take a young top talent from another country and, unlike e.g. France, I'm not a proponent of blooding in as many talents as possible and then leaving them cap-tied while you have no use for them. The likes of Strupar and Weber were completely different cases. Nearing/in their 30s, having spent the bulk of their careers in Belgium (I haven't heard Bailey speak Dutch), never been called up and having the chance to play a role in the Belgian NT.

- Castagne should have been in there. Not even a matter of bringing him for experience. What if you lose Meunier? The options, even if you revert to a back four and play CB(s) at fullback, aren't great. If Chadli wasn't injured he'd be an option. Still whoever you pick he'll be playing out of position.

- like Engels, you can add a few more names to the ones you listed (Castagne, Praet, ...). Musonda seems to be punished because he declined a call-up to the U21s last time.

Bring up Bailey again and an article about him, including his his future as an international, is published. Like clockwork

http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/707389/artikel_bailey_bereit-fuer-bayer---nicht-fuer-jamaika.html

Nationalmannschaft?

Jamaica keeps coming for him. But he has personal problems with the federation since he was 11 -12yo. Jamaica could have had me a long time ago, but there are reasons why I'm not playing for them.
