Soccahappy 9,402
1 hour ago, thorgan lesar said: You're surprised in what ? Thanks for the beautiful words. I have an eye for quality players. It's impossible to keep an eye on all talents worldwide so 90% of what I watch involves an English club. I can keep an "eye on" (Literally) for example Man C or Spurs playing Monaco & was very impressed by many in the Monaco side. But it's mainly Premiership, Championship, Champions League & La Liga occasionally (BIG Games). I'm waiting for those "golden moments". I have many such moments pictured in my memory, stored away, from Pele to Messi (Yes I span World Cups from 1966 onwards). I have for an example of these "moments" Schweinsteiger in 1 particular important game, always effortlessly moving into the very centre of circles of space. No one else watching or indeed the opposition seemed to see it until I rewinded back to it & showed my sons, how he glided from 1 centre of space, took the ball & gave the ball & then again found space & repeated it again & again. He never was picked up in the whole 90minutes. I can give many more examples of "golden moments" even Live from John Charles, Tony Yeboah & Albert Johannson (watching Leeds United at Elland Road). Anyway that's why I look for potential great talents & enjoy "owning them" on SM, following them waiting for those golden moments & adding SM value to my succesful teams. Anyway that's my motivation but to finally answer your question (sorry so long-winded ). I had Orel Mangala already on my radar but NOT Zinho Vanheusden & Dante Rigo at all! Other "lesser lights" I knew very little about (Blind Spots) such as Timothy Castagne, Mile Svilar, Foket & Mats Sels. I have to base anything I haven't seen on minutes played for the first team & this is the only place I can say I lose out to other managers in my Gw's. One manager says he has to get them as babies b4 I buy them! I must say also it was news to me one of my favourites, Marvelos Nakamba had been tranferred. So YES there was many suprises as well as a great education of where these potential greats are breaking through. Thanks again, Thorgan thorgan lesar

I think we can say if Club Brugge wants to be in the Champions League, they need to win. Basaksehir has good players, but Club Brugge is favorite. KAA Gent will go through O.Marseile is not the club from the past and they will underrate KVO probably. KVO with the correct ambition and in best form can KVO do great things. Marseile is better of course, but KVO is not a small club anymore.

Basaksehir are very ambitious. C.Under is in Rome and it looks like he'll be gone before the EL qualifier. Wouldn't have minded an easier opponent in the current round as advancing to the play-offs guarantees entry into the EL group stage. For the coefficient they need to at least reach the EL group stage. Plenty of points in the EL. EL is Brugge's level (plus Anderlecht get more money if Brugge fail to reach the CL). Brugge were horrible in the CL last year while I have enjoyed Anderlecht and Gent in recent years (TBH was screaming at the TV back when Anderlecht didn't see out games, e.g. Arsenal, Gala, etc.). SMH at Brugge not playing their best even when a 3rd place was still on (they also focused on the Belgian play-offs back when they faced Dnipro in the EL who made it into the final; with those points or any other that were spilled we would have already overtaken Ukraine and possibly gained top seed status in the relevant season of CL; despite good results lots of points have been spilled and very little was needed to overtake Ukraine). The Belgian play-offs do hurt us whenever Belgian clubs go on a deep run in Europe. I hate Brugge for how they approach Europe (you also see it when Brugge players get selected for our NT and then suddenly are "injured"). Had they improved their club coefficient they could have looked forward to being seeded in this year's CL play-off (if Ajax fail). OM's new owners mean business. KVO need a small miracle while Genk, as seeds, probably would have drawn an easier opponent (plus Genk's football is easy on the eye). KVO without Dimata will have a hard time. Zivkovic needs to adapt to a new club and I haven't been impressed by him. Awful strike rate, allows himself to get isolated from his teammates, overplays or runs the ball out of play, will have to face much stronger defenders than in the eredivisie although his pace should help him. Would love it if KVO pull it off but I'm doubtful.

Would love it if KVO pull it off but I'm doubtful. I'm also dissapointed, but not in Club Brugge. I'm dissapointed in Michel Preud'Homme actually. If they had a bit more trust in their self, they we're 3th and in the Europa League. FC Porto dissapointed en Leicester won twice good, but weren't even on their level. I have enjoyed RSC Anderlecht and KAA Gent, but also KRC Genk this year. With a bit more luck they were in the semi-final against Ajax FC. KVO needs to enjoy and believe in their self and who knows... . No drama if Marseile wins, but in football there is Always a chance and you need to believe in your self. Celtic won 4 (?) years ago against FC Barcelona with a goal from Tony Watt (ex-Lierse), this happens not often, but It's Always possible as long as you believe in it . You're right about KRC Genk, but KVO has also a good team. As attacker he can grow to a better level with the strong defenders. He will need some time of course.
