Loïc Badiashille, Guillaume Hubert, Merveille Goblet, Miguel Van Damme
3 very decent keepers and 1 keeper with private problems (Van Damme). Not so many to say about it. This is on point.

Vitinho, Bancone, Taravel, Marega, Dabila, Ueda, Lambot, Serrano, Bassong
The experienced Benjamin Lambot may be leaving, but the defense is okay. It is looking forward to Dabila. The Monaco loaniers Bancone and Serrano now play at the highest level for the first time.

Koné, Decostere, Omolo, Kouamé, Deuro, Peeters, Vanhoutte, Koshi, Hoggas, Deman

The central part seems fine with Kouamé and Peeters, but purely as a defending midfielder, perhaps something else can be added. On the '10' there is only Bongiovanni, who will mainly be able to play as a winger. The midfield needs to become a little stronger deep in its core and have someone offensive who can send the attacks. The youngsters Decostere, Deuro (Mali), Vanhoutte and Deman fill the midfield.

Bongiovanni, Mboula, Kanté, Kylian Hazard

It's all right on the wing-position. However, Bongiovanni can also play as an attacking midfielder, which means it still misses 1 wing player. A lot is expected from Mboula and Kanté. Hazard is looking for a constant level.

Saadi, De Belder, Klimov
The Tunisian Saadi returns to Belgium. He is a player with quite a few qualities, but is nevertheless a doubt if you will only play with Saadi in first class. De Belder is not enough and Klimov is gradually ready to get chances. You can certainly add another 1 striker.

Conclusion
The core is somewhat higher in quality compared to last year. The young players Bongiovanni and Vitinho have a year of experience. They can gradually make an impact on the team. If 3 or 4 new players arrive at the positions that were mentioned, Cercle Brugge might surprise Belgium. Currently, the offensive is not yet fully completed, so this prognosis.

Players to look out for...
Victor Vitinho, Kouadio-Yves Dabila, Adrien Bongiovanni, Jordi Mboula, Loïc Badiashille

Penneteau, Riou, Imbrechts
Not so many to say about it. Both experienced keepers Penneteau and Riou can handle another season and the young Swede Imbrechts is already entering his 3rd season at Charleroi.

Marinos, Busi, Zajkov, Diagne, Dessoleil, Wildemeersch, Willems, Nurío Fortuna, Boulenger
Javi Martos has stopped playing football. The Montenegrin Zajkov does not show himself enough to take his place. The new player Modou Diagne must be able to replace Javi Martos. The defense is on point.

Ilaimaharitra, Diandy, Hendrickx, Rodes, Morioka
5 players for 3 positions is not a huge amount. Adding a central midfielder to the team would not be a superfluous luxury. Ilaimaharitra can count on a lot of interest, but remains possible in Charleroi. It still misses 1 player in the core of this midfield. Backup Ryota Morioka would also be good.

Gholizadeh, Bruno, Delfi, Fall, Maistriaux, Tshiend, Henen, Falzone
The wing-positiin is actually pretty good according to Charleroi values. Gholizadeh, Bruno, Delfi and Henen are all who can lift Charleroi to a higher level. The youngsters Maistriaux, Tshiend and Falzone train with the A-team.

Osimhen, Niane, Pérbet, Bedia, Pollet
Bedia and Pollet can normally leave. Niane and Perbet are decent valid options, but are no longer players for the first 11. It is currently Victor Osimhen, but he seems to leave. This record transfer should help them to strengthen their base team in every line (except wing players) and to strengthen their midfield in terms of quality.

Conclusion
It is very quiet at the moment. Too quiet, because this Charleroi is not yet ready to compete for Play-Off 1. Charleroi needs to be strengthened in 3 lines and then it can become competition for Royal Antwerp, STVV and Zulte Waregem. Charleroi must once again become a team that is never easy to beat.

Players to look out for...
Modou Diagne, David Henen, Younes Delfi

(? next to Dessoleil is for Modou Diagne)

Bossut, Bostyn, Bansen
Bostyn and Bansen have been preparing for a while to take over the place of Bossut. Bossut had good years, but now it's time to give other players the chance. Bostyn is not doing badly, but Bansen impressed more and could well start the season. The hierarchy is likely to change, but things are going well.

Walsh, De Fauw, Bürki, Pletinckx, Humphreys, Heylen, Baudry, Timotheou, Kainourgios, Demir
The defense is on point. Baudry, Humphreys, Pletinckx and Bürki are all 4 of good quality. The young Australian Timotheou still has to work on his soccer ability and to grow physically. But for this he signed in Belgium. If you want to grow as a defender, Belgium and Italy are nowadays the countries. De Fauw is gradually getting too old to be able to participate, but Walsh is an important players as rightback. Kainourgios has convinced on a trial and can start with the team of Zulte Waregem with Demir as a competitor.

Seck, Marcq, Tardieu, Govea, Nissilä, De Smet
That midfield needs to be set a bit sharper in his core, but with Seck it has someone who physically makes Zulte Waregem stronger and adds with Govea footballing power. Marcq can be the experiential backup. Tardieu may leave. Someone who can play both DM and CM is needed. Nissilä and De Smet are not players who are ready. An attacking midfielder is also necessary

Soisalo, Bjørdal, Zarandia, De Pauw
The young Finn Soisalo and the young Norwegian Bjørdal are entering their 2nd season in Waregem. They seem to be on the point of breakthrough. Zarandia adds a little more technology. De Pauw adds experience, but one more winger would be ideal to get a complete core.

Oberlin, Larin, Sylla
The young Swiss is extremely fast, but also has a nose for goals. If he is involved well, the opponents will have it difficult. Larin is a physical striker who was very successful in the MLS and did quite well at Bešiktas in the beginning. With the right wing players, Zulte Waregem becomes dangerous in the attack. Sylla is the ideal striker with experience and his qualities. Unfortunately, Oberlin is out for a while now, so it will have to count on Canadian Larin.

Conclusion
If the midfield is sharpened even more and can get 1 winger to the standards of Zulte Waregem, they will end up in the left-hand column in the classement.

Players to look out for...
Ewoud Pletinckx, Kainourgios, Govea, Oberlin and Larin.

Bolat, Teunckens, De Winter, Lathouwers
1st keeper Sinan Bolat can still leave, but is not 100% sure if he stays. It will then have to get a replacement, but for now it is all right.

Buta, Opare, De Laet, Kakudji, Arslanagić, Muanza, Seck, Diaby, Batubinsika, Borges, Píus, Juklerød
Van Damme's loss is big. He was the leader with enough qualities for a team that have the ambitions to play Play-Off 1. The youngsters Kakudji, Muanza and Diaby will mainly train with them. Píus is seen as the replacement for Jelle Van Damme. All in all, the defense is still nice in terms of Antwerp his level. A backup of Juklerød is still needed. Juklerød played almost everything last season that did not benefit his qualities at the end of the season.

Haroun, Hongla, Yatabaré, De Sart, Nazaryna, Quirynen, Refaelov, Coopman, Hairemans, Niangadou
Yatabaré and Hairemans are allowed to leave the team, while Niangadou goes back to the -21. Quirynen is another young person who is added to the A-team. Haroun, Hongla and De Sart as the ashes of midfield seems to me not enough. A player with physical qualities out on the '8' is certainly still welcome. Refaelov and Coopman have to take on the role of attacking midfielder.

Baby, Ivo Rodrigues, Lamkel Zé
3 wingers. You read that right. That is indeed not enough. In addition, Lamkel Zé is arguing with the team. Plus again that Amara Baby and Ivo Rodrigues don't actually show what is expected of them. There must absolutely be 2 technically skilled wingers signed. Offensive, Royal Antwerp has to hit a level higher or it becomes difficult to reach the Europa League first and secondly the Belgian top teams to make it difficult in the attacking field.

Mbokani, Bolingi, Mendy
Mbokani extended his contract with Royal Antwerp. It let Van Damme go, but keeping Mbokani is quite a prestation. Bolingi is not really a goal scorer, but he can try to make a defense tired. Mendy is not enough. Also as a central attacker there is still something to be added as a backup for Mbokani.

Conclusion
The midfield is not yet strong enough to play football and offense is simply not enough. Royal Antwerp is a difficult team to beat, but now they have to make the move to be able to beat any team. With today's team, it will fight for PO1 again, but it will be a bit harder. Offensive reinforcement and it can play Play-Off 1 again.

Players to look out for...
Pìus, Alexis De Sart

Steppe, Schmidt, Herbots, Wenssens
Is fine. Steppe had a great season and has recently signed a new contract. Schmidt must be able to compete with Steppe. The 2 youngsters can learn a lot from that duo.

Mmaee, Garcia, Teixeira, Sankhon, De Smet, Koike, Thallyson, Gliha, Doore
Koike, Thallyson and Gliha are all 3 left defenders, but all 3 can leave. The central axis of their 3-5-2 is currently Sankhon, Garcia and Teixeira. Mmaee and De Smet are currently backups. De Smet can also handle the wingback on the left. This central axis can certainly be better in width. Getting a replacement for Tomiyasu is not going to be easy, but it will have to get someone to get through the season. 1 right back would also not be a luxury.

De Petter, Endo, Masoudi, Opdenakker, Asamoah, Suzuki
De Petter and Endo are the 2 defensive set players of this 3-5-2. Asamoah is a player who can play box-to-box. It must definitely find another replacement for Alexis De Sart. Someone who can help offensively a bit, but also gives discipline over the midfield. The Sart is unfortunately a loss. The question is how STVV will replace him. They replace Kamada with Suzuki. He can play both as 2nd striker and 10.

Troonbeeckx, Botaka, Sousa, De Bruyn, Acolatse
Troonbeeckx has taken the step from the amateur classes to the highest level. We are curious how he will develop further. Botaka is a regular choice at the RWB. Acolatse is on the left (out of necessity), but something is allowed. Allan Sousa can also play there, but is especially offensive. Can also cut in with his left foot on the right. Is quite polyvalent. Alexandre De Bruyn seems to be not enough. A new wingback is therefore certainly not a luxury problem.

Boli, Phuong Nguyen, Balongo, Kinoa, Janssens
As already mentioned, Suzuki can also play as 2nd striker, but the strikers are mainly this 5. Boli can still leave, but if not, this STVV would make a complete team in the attack position. The Vietnamese Phuong Nguyen and the young Conologees Balongo are the players who will play if Suzuki and / or Boli are unavailable. Kinoa and Janssens can leave.

Conclusion
It lost quite some quality with Takehiro Tomiyasu (9 million) and Daichi Kamada (returned to Frankfurt). The core is already fairly stable plus an improvement in their wingbacks and they can run a good season again. However, replacements are still needed for Tomiyasu and De Sart. If that is done well, then STVV will be able to get Play-Off 1 this year.

Players to look out for ...
Allan Sousa, Sory Sankhon, Suzuki

Didillon, Roef, Boeckx
Didillon could leave, but he shouldn't. Davy Roef would be no more than 2nd keeper and he doesn't want that. He may still be leaving. Boeckx would become the 2nd keeper, but is not good enough for this. So there are question marks here.

Saelemaekers, Najàr, Chipciu, Sowah, Sanneh, Kompany, Sandler, Danté, Bornauw, Sardella, Milic, Zola, Lawrence, Cobbaut, Lutonda
You notice that there are enough players in the width. Although there are some who are allowed to leave. Sowah (temporary), Milic (final), Lawrence (final), Danté (temporary) and Milic (final) all have to find a team. Saelemaekers, Najàr and Chipciu become each other's competitors. The Honduran Najàr has been out for months. The plan is to have Chipciu Najàr replaced. Central there is Kompany, Sandler, Sanneh and Bornauw. Zola is still on trial, but should be the left-footed central defender. Cobbaut and Lutonda (18 years old) are each other's competitors.

Makarenko, Kayémbe, Dewaele, Sambi Lokonga, Kums, Trébel, Gerkens, Vlap, Léoni, Žulj, Verschaeren, El Hadji
Makarenko, Trébel and Kums could leave. Kums would not fit in the team that Kompany has in mind and Trébel weighs too much on the wage. Possibly a defensive midfielder will be attracted, because Kayémbe is not ready for the first spot. A man with a lot of duel power is not really there and is all technically engineered. A big question mark. If Kums and Trébel leave effectively, they must look for a replacement. Although RSCA does not seem to intend that.

Elia, Bakkali, Adzic, Colassin, Nasri, Amuzu, Doku, Saïef
Meschack Elia is on trial, but is seen as talented. Adzic (temporary), Saïef (final) and perhaps Amuzu (due to difficulties with contract extension) are allowed to leave in this row. Bakkali is then out with a long injury. Colassin, Nasri and Doku are the only ones who can fight for places as wingers. Colassin is not even ready yet. They can also make changes on the wing-position. Nasri, Doku and Verschaeren .... That is not enough. The wingers were once different. I fear this is not enough to compete with the top.

Santini, Kiesse Thelin, Dimata, Dhauholou, Dauda
Santini, Thelin and Dauda can all leave. Dhauholou has many problems with injuries and Dimata has also been injured for a while There must be a striker. Even 2, but that doesn't seem to happen either.

Conclusion
Despite the arrival of Vincent Kompany, it will again be a very difficult season. It will be a long-term project for him. There is still a lot to go and at least 3 more incoming transfers have to be made. The first team is nice, but the selection as a whole still needs to be improved considerably.

It is looking forward to some youngsters. Anouar Ait El Hadji (17), Jérémy Doku (17) and Thierry Lutonda (18) especially will be allowed to play quite a bit. They will not be the only ones, but something is expected from them next season.

Players to look out for...
Jérémy Doku, Yari Verschaeren, Michel Vlap, Thierry Lutonda, Philippe Sandler, Albert Sambi Lokonga

Kaminski, Coosemans, De Busser
Not so many to say about it. This is good enough.

Souquet, Castro-Montes, Yem, Derijck, Lustig, Bronn, Plastun, Rosted, Van Den Bergh, Asare, Mohammadi
The right back is full of potential, but both are not yet fully ready (Castro-Montes and Yem), which means that Lustig will probably start on the right. In the short term, 1 of the 2 mentioned will be able to take that place. Arnaud Souquet can leave. With Michael Ngadue and Lustig, experience and quality have been added to the defense. Derijck, Plastun and Van Den Bergh are nice back-ups. Derijck and Plastun must also be able to add experience. On the left, Asare is slowly on his way back, KAA Ghent found a fast back of Iran Mohammadi.

Esiti, Owusu, Smith, Odjidja, Louis Verstraete, Dejaegere, Bezus, Chakvetadze

Esiti is a player with duel power, Owusu with footballing ability. Vadis is the ideal player with experience, quality and box-to-box. Smith still has to adjust a lot and I would personally lend him out. A player who can also play between 6 and 8 is still needed in width to fill in the 4-4-2 (diamond). It may be a little too much for Vadis, which means that a physical player is needed. For the rest, the midfield is fine.

Dompé, Beridze, Limbombe, Azango, Kubo
On the wing-position it is still not as it should be. Kubo can play there and Dompé is a good but not a constant player. Beridze shows himself in the preparation and gets his chance. But it is not convincing enough. Azango and Limbombe can leave. KAA Gent plays without real wingers, but 1 right winger would be useful in an emergency.

Yaremchuk, David, Depoitre, Kvilitaia, Jalloh, Sylla
The young Canadian (Jonathan David) plays in the system of Jesse Thorup as a 10. Where he also fully fills. Although he might well play back as a central attacker. Yaremchuk is a good striker, but misses many easy chances. Kvilitaia is not considered enough and may be removed. Sylla can also leave. The youngster Amadu Jalloh - transferred from the -21 to A-team - becomes 3rd choice. KAA Ghent lacks a real finish. Komlichenko is linked to KAA Ghent, but is not yet concrete.

Conclusion
KAA Ghent is at the end of his homework in terms of incoming transfers. A winger and a solid midfielder is also missed. Quite a bit of work still needs to be done to let some players go, but KAA Ghent has time to do so until 31 August.

Players to look out for...
Elisha Owusu, Alessio Castro-Montes, Giorgi Chakvetadze, Jonathan David

Horvath, Letica, Shinton
There are some discussions if a new keeper is needed. One side says no. Horvath and Letica are both young with still potential, but have a history with little patience for their keepers. It is possible that Club Brugge would attract Jean Butez, but that could be bad news for Horvath or Letica. Shinton is a very talented keeper. Is expected a lot in the future.

Mata, Cools, Mitrovic, Van Der Brempt, Schoonbaert, Kossounou, Mechele, Deli, Peres, Sobol, De Cuyper
Last year Club Brugge played with 3 defenders. The new coach Philippe Clement has announced that he will not completely abandon this tactic, but he still prefers 4 defenders. Mata, Mechele and Sobol then seem to be certitudes. The central axis for a 4-3-3 seems to be enough in width. Kossounou, Mitrovic, Mechele, Deli and Peres are the options. Youngsters Van Der Brempt and Schoonbaert can train with the A-team. A left defender can still be useful.

Vlietinck, Sagna, Dennis, Danjuma, Diatta, Ngongé
Vlietinck and Ngongé seem to be leaving on a rental basis to another team. Danjuma may leave Club Brugge. Dennis could leave, but is not sure. Sagna and Diatta - especially 2 young Senegalese - are the only securities at Club Brugge. A new winger really has to be added, because that will be crucial to take part in the title. Club Brugge showed interest in Luis Diaz, but unfortunately he has chosen for FC Porto. It may be necessary for him to get 2 wingers if Dennis also leaves. This is currently still a question mark.

Nakamba, Rits, Vanlerberghe, Amrabat, De Ketelaere, Vormer, Vanaken
I am annoyed by the mentality of Nakamba. He clearly wants to leave in a less attractive way. He may leave. Vanlerberghe can also leave. Rits clearly added value, but is not enough a resting point. A defensive midfielder is therefore a must. Vormer is first choice as '8'. Amrabat is a decent backup. Vanaken also seems to remain at first sight. A backup for Hans Vanaken is also needed in the Clement system.

Okereke, Openda, Schrijvers, Rezaei, Vossen The young Nigerian Okereke is a talented player, but still seems to have to adapt to the playing style and the level. However, the intention is to become the first striker. Openda will continue his good level at the end of last season and make Okereke somewhat difficult. Schrijvers seems to fall victim to the 4-3-3. Vossen and Rezaei are the players to fall back on.

Conclusion
We have to wait and see how Kossounou and Deli will have a defensive impact. Mechele is a certainty. Midfield needs someone who do the 'dirty work' and there are still many question marks on the wing-positions. The core has qualities, but it still waiting on transfers. The midfield and the wingers are still big question marks. Nevertheless, they are better armed than, for example, KAA Gent or RSC Anderlecht.

Players to look out for ....
Simon Deli, Odillon Kossounou, Amadou Sagna, Krépin Diatta, David Okereke

Ochoa, Milinkovic-Savic, J-F Gillet, Bodart Ochoa would normally be number 1, but he is leaving in Liège. That is why 39-year-old Jean-François Gillet is currently the first choice. He is gradually ready for the end of his career, but still has qualities. The new Serbian Milinkovic-Savic is currently not in the highest position at Preud'Homme. It will take a while before he becomes a competitor for Gillet. Fortunately his trainer is a keeper legend from which he can learn a lot.

Vojvoda, Fai, Cavanda, Goreux, Bokadi, Lavalée, Sangaré, Vanheusden, Kosanovic, Laifis, Gavory, Miangue, Pocognoli
Cavanda and Goreux will leave. Vojvoda and Fai compete for the right back position. Vanheusden, Bokadi, Laifis, Kosanovic, Sangaré and Lavalée are the central axis. Laifis may be one step higher, which means that Standard will have to find a new central defender. Gavory and Miangue compete for left back position. The question is if Vanheusden can confirm his high level, but Standard should not become too dependent. Bokadi and Kosanovic are not enough to be the only competitors. Bokadi and Kosanovic may leave and they need to find an upgrade. The wing defenders seem fine.

Cimirot, Bastien, Amallah, Raskin, Carcela, Halilovic, Patoulidis
Midfield is still a question mark. Romanian Razvan Marin left and Standard got Selim Amallah from Excel Mouscron. Talented, but not from the same level. The Bosnian Cimirot is the silent force that surpasses the team. Preud'Homme already announced that Raskin is gradually ready. However, can he replace Marin at such a young age? Patoulidis may still be rented out.

Boljevic, Mpoku, Lestienne, Limbombe, Castro Guzmàn, Balikwisha
The wingers are reinforced in width, but not enough for the short term. Boljevic, Lestienne and Limbombe are nice players, but not players who can make Standard win with 1 action. The young Guzmàn and Balikwisha both have reasonable potential, but not yet ready.

Avenatti, Emond, Oularé, Orlando Sà, Čop Orlando Sà and Čop may still be allowed to leave. They are armed enough with Avenatti, Emond and Oularé.

Conclusion
Standard De Liège has nevertheless been strengthened across the board, but it is still possible to work on the basic team. In the central axis (when Laifis leaves) and maybe another player who can play both the DM and the CM. In the 2nd season, the teams from Preud'Homme are also doing a lot better and I expect to see a good Standard again this year.

Players to look out for ....
Hady Sangaré, Amallah, Halilovic

Vukovic - Coucke - Jackers - Vandevoordt

KRC Genk is fine with the keepers. Vukovic can certainly last another year before the young Vandevoordt will take his place. The Belgian goalkeeper will be brought quietly. Gaëtan Coucke and Nordin Jackers are both talented keepers, but cannot play at this KRC Genk. Coucke can become 2nd goalie this season, while Jackers leaves the team (temporarily).

Mæhle - De Norre - Cuesta - Screciu - Adewoye - Dewaest - Lucumi - Uronen - Neto Borges
The defense has a lot of quality, but ultimately young with great potential. Sébastien Dewaest is the experienced player in the defense. Lucumi and Cuesta have more qualities than the Belgian. The 2 Colombians will most likely become the central axis of the Limburg club. Screciu and Adewoye are 2 more talents. Adewoye - from the KRC Genk academy - is the 3rd choice anyway. The wingdefenders are also fine. Mæhle is highly sought after, but seems to stay. De Norre must take further steps. Uronen is a solid left back and Neto Borges has been adjusted for half a year (the adjustment period for Brazilians in Belgium always takes longer).

Berge - Wouters - Hrošovský - Heynen - Piotrowski - Hagi - Fiolic
Midfield is also almost ready. Heynen, Hrošovský, Piotrowski and Hagi are all 4 axis of midfield. Fiolic seems to be leaving (temporarily?) and Sander Berge might also be leaving. A possible replacement is also possible. It will be a difficult task to replace Berge. It is a little awaiting how this trio will be filled up.

Ndongola - Ito - Benson - Nygren - Bongonda - Paintsil
We have to wait and see how Bongonda can integrate into the team. He played well and stood out at Zulte Waregem, but now he plays with a top team that can play for the title and play in the Champions League. The other newcomer Benjamin Nygren is only 18 years old, but is one of the greatest Swedish talents. This move from the Swedish to the Belgian is not wrong for such a young player. Can Ito reach his level again? Manuel Benson - who returns from Excel Mouscron - underwent a metamorphosis, but is that enough? Paintsil, which has now been adjusted for an entire season and has been able to work on his lesser points. There is a lot of potential, but there are also many questions. Ndongola still seems to be leaving.

Samatta - Odey - Gano
The position of the central peak is not yet completely finished. The Nigerian Stephen Odey is new, but seems too early to take the position as a striker. Gano is not enough. Samatta will also leave KRC Genk. So someone will definitely have to be recruited here.

Conclusion
KRC Genk has another core with a lot of potential, but the question is how it will be without the players leaving KRC Genk and when the newcomers are ready to replace them properly. With new coach Felice Mazzu they are doing well with an even better defensive organization. A team to look forward too for sure.

Players to look out for ....
Carlos Cuesta, Benjamin Nygren, Patrik Hrošovský, Manuel Benson, Ianis Hagi, Stephen Odey

First ranking for the new cycle (new format adding a third European competition). Best Belgium avoids dropping out of the top 9 this year because it quickly cascades down from there.

8BZKvmk.jpg

Won't catch Russia or Portugal any time soon. OTOH both Turkey (1.8pts behind) and Ukraine (1.4pts behind) are within striking distance. Austria and Holland are a bit further down. None from the chasing pack were on the receiving end of a particularly hard draw. Especially Holland got yet another very soft draw.

- Brugge face Dynamo Kyiv in the CL qualis, a direct confrontation with the chasers from Ukraine, on 6/08 (H) and 13/08 (A). With a win Brugge will be seeded in the play-offs and we could have two Belgian teams in the CL groups.

- Antwerp were drawn against one of the teams that drop down from the CL qualis, on 8/08 (H) and 15/08 (A). Could have had a better draw but they should fancy their chances if it ends up being Plzeň (Hrošovský will leave for Genk). Like Brugge, Antwerp can also take the coefficient of their opponents. With a win Antwerp will be seeded in the EL play-offs.

- Gent are basically in the next round already where they'll most likely face Larnaca, on 8/08 (A) and 15/08 (H). Cypriot teams have been racking up the points in recent years, running riot in the qualis, so Gent shouldn't be complacent. In the EL play-offs Gent would be seeded.

The draw for the CL and EL play-offs will take place on 5/08. All three Belgian teams will be seeded in case they reach the play-offs. Taking on sides with high enough coefficients has its benefits, as long as you can win of course. Hopefully the Belgian teams do win and get rewarded with a decent draw.

They aren't ready on the mercato

Antwerp needs to grow offensively

Gent needs to grow defensively

But normally they are through to the next round and I think Larnaca is from a lower level (then Viitorul), so they have time to be in the Europa League. Hopefully Dylan Bronn stays, but the chance is not so high.

Antwerp needs more wingers with quality to try something against Plžeñ.

Club Brugge needs a defensive midfielder with quality to beat Dinamo Kyiv.

PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND

I'm creating this new category to bring you even closer to the Belgian competition. You can find this post in the OP (Opening Post) of this thread.
The intention is - as the title says - to identify the most notable and better player from that weekend
Note: you can still ask questions about the 15 proposed countries. I try to follow even more competitions. The ambition here is to go to 25 to 30 countries someday. You can find these countries in the OP (Opening Post)

□ Simon Mignolet
He is now a long time 2nd keeper in Liverpool. He can't stay 2nd keeper with the NT of Belgium if he doesn't play.
□ Hendrik Van Crombrugge
Is probably going to Luton Town. He is better then that...
□ Thomas Meunier
Okay, has a lot of injury problems, but in my opinion PSG isn't a good club for me. Manchester United, SSC Napoli and another Italian team is linked with him. I say "leave"
□ Thomas Vermaelen
Probably going to Qatar. Too bad...
□ Jordan Lukaku
Not good enough for SS Lazio. Needs to find a team lower..
□ Dennis Praet
Tielemans and Praet again together would be lovely at Leicester City
□ Kevin Mirallas
Probably going to Standard De Liège
□ Dodi Lukebakio
LOSC Lille is really interested. Good choice, I think.
□ Yannick Carrasco
Needs to move fast or he isn't a Red Devil any more in a couple of months. SSC Napoli and Arsenal are interested.
□ Nacer Chadli
Needs to play in a team with more stability. Maybe he can do something in France like Olympique Lyonnais or Olympique Marseille.
□ Divock Origi
Difficult choice. He is the first player after Firmino, Mané and Salah. He will play for sure, but will it be enough. I would stay. What do you think ?

Toby Alderweireld is wanted by AS Roma and Juventus
Björn Engels is close to Aston Villa...

Van Crombrugge to Anderlecht

Vermaelen to Vissel Kobe

Alderweireld stays

Engels to Villa

Lukebakio close to joining Hertha for a club record fee of €20M. Would get into this summer's top 5:

1. Eden Hazard €100M

2. Tielemans €45M

3. Thorgan Hazard €25.5M

4. Trossard €20M

-  Lukebakio €20M

Let's see what happens with Lukaku. And hopefully Carrasco returns to Europe.

Danny Vukovic out for a long time...

Probably Gaëtan Coucke (20) will take his place. 2nd keeper Maarten Vandevoordt (17) has also a little chance to be nr. 1 at KRC Genk

i bought Coucke. i don't think they will buy another gk

Granted it's China, still Carrasco looks very motivated to return to Europe.

Reportedly Dalian reneged on their promise to let him return to Europe. Seeing the window in China has closed when August began, there's not much left of the PL window, ... a move will only be harder to come by. Shame.

He can come back like Kompany and Mignolet to Belgium ;)

Now seriously.. indeed a shame
