Simon Mignolet to Club Brugge @1000dB

Was a bit surprised when I saw it. There were rumours of a transfer to Brugge or Anderlecht earlier, besides the ones linking him to clubs abroad, but didn't think anything would come of it. I read Brugge paid 7M and even with Migs taking a big wage cut he'll weigh on Brugge's wage bill. OTOH Migs is dying to get out there and prove himself again.

Sounds like he was indeed a good servant to the club and a model pro. Klopp: "If you were to ask me to write a list of the most standout pros I’ve worked with in the game - in a career of well over 30 years - Mignolet would be competing for the number 1 spot. The first in, the last out every day at Melwood."

Thanks, I'll wait until I have sufficient replacements before selling Bennett, Tameze and Savanier. Wouldn't want to sell those 3 without good replacements, because of the way the set up is (buying limited to 85).

Records: Transfers in Belgium
This summer is crazy in our competition. Incoming transfers and outgoing transfers. One of the examples are Simon Mignolet (7 million, Club Brugge), Michel Vlap (7 million, RSC Anderlecht) and Zinho Vanheusden (12.5 million, Standard De Liège).

The Big Five have spent 99,45 million together. An absolute record. We're still 7 august. There is still a lot happening. Surely in RSC Anderlecht and a bit from Club Brugge and KAA Gent. The other 2 big clubs are KRC Genk and Standard De Liège.

I don't include the transfers from the 11 other teams. With them we are above 100 million surely.

There is also an absolute record for the income in Belgium. There is 215,45 million as income for the 16 teams together. It will be a bit more, but not much. Arnaut 'Danjuma' Groeneveld (18 million to Bournemouth), Moraes Wesley (25 million to Aston Villa), Takehiro Tomiyasu (9 million to Bologna), Léandro Trossard (15 million to Brighton & Hove Albion), Victor Osimhen (14 million euros to LOSC Lille), Sebastiaan Bornauw (7 million to FC Köln) and many more... .

The 11 other teams are included here.

Champions League 3th Round

Club Brugge - Dinamo Kiev 1-0

...A win, but next week will be difficult. Important to make surely 1 goal.

I'd love to see Brugge reach the CL groups. Were great last year and unlucky not to advance. Putting daylight between us and Ukraine in the rankings is a bonus.

In the play-offs the winner of this tie, hopefully Brugge, were seeded and either Basel or LASK will be waiting. Basel look weak. They didn't play well against PSV (who didn't finish their chances). Let's see how they fare against LASK. To get to the play-offs Brugge still need to qualify for it first though.

Maybe I should have another look at a bit I posted after the window closed last year:

Looks like 16 Pro League clubs have outspent the 18 from the Eredivisie again. At the start of this decade, the first 3 seasons, the Dutch were outspending the Belgians but that gap was almost bridged in 2012/13. In each of the last 6 seasons Belgians clubs have spent more.

The expenditure of the Dutch is the closest to that of the Belgians. The Ukrainians are relatively close as well. Their expenditure was much higher but in the second half of this decade it was almost non-existent. Ukrainian clubs are slowly starting to spend again though.

In this decade Belgian clubs have flexed more "transfer muscle" than the likes of Holland and Ukraine. In Europe "only" the usual 5 suspects plus the Russian, Turkish and Portuguese leagues are ranked higher. Outside the top tier, only the Championship has more money to burn and outside Europe, it's only China and Brazil.

Praet to Leicester

Migs to Bruges

Van Crombrugge to Anderlecht

3. Tielemans €45M

4. Thorgan Hazard €25.5M

5. Praet €21M

Just outside the top 5: Trossard €20M and Lukebakio €20M

Let's see what happens with Lukaku (got his wish and Conte finally got his man). And hopefully Carrasco returns to Europe.

Does he have any potential?

I have not a lot of clues about Belgium/Holland so love reading your stuff here.

Will not play much this season I think.

Sieben Dewaele will play there, Albert Sambi Lokonga has an injury, but the plan is to make him nr.1 as defensive midfielder. Austrian Peter Žulj is for the moment defensive midfielder, because Dewaele is playing as wingback. The Austrian player is growing in his role.

But he is the future of RSC Anderlecht on long term. So keep him (or buy him) and maybe he will rise a little bit this season.

He didn't score yesterday.

He started well, but in the 2 games against Dynamo Kyiv it's clear he isn't ready to make difference in the top games.

Club Brugge started against 2 teams who didn't started well.
