Bristol City update

Sheff Weds(2-5)

Deon Burton scored twice in the opening 24 minutes to give Wednesday the best possible with Gualberto Mojica's 36th minute strike meaning they were up by three at half time. And they continued to score as Etienne Esajas and Deon Burton again made the scoreline 5-0 after 66 minutes. Two goals from Tarik SEKTIOUI were mere consolations for City.

Plymouth Argyle(4-2)

Loanee Roman BEDNAR put City ahead on 26 minutes with a venomous strike only to be cancelled out by Krisztian Timar on 40 minutes. Two goals in quick succession from top scorer Tarik SEKTIOUI meant that City were 3-1 up after 66 minutes. Roman BEDNAR's 72nd minute goal, meant that a Marcel Seip strike late on was no good.

Sheffield United(1-1)

After the reserve side were knocked out in Round One of the English Cup, City's woes were extended as Chris Armstrong have United a deserved lead at Brammal Lane with a 26th minute volley. But scoring his third goal in his sixth Bristol City start, Roman BENDNAR's goal on 48 minutes was the last of the match securing an away point.

On the transfer front, Hayden MULLINS completed a £4,200,000 move from division one side West Ham United to bolster the weak Bristol City. He debuted in the home win against Plymouth Argyle, but was tonight sent off after 31 minutes for a horror tackle. Louis CAREY left the club for just over £2,000,000 yesterday morning.

Bristol City - EC 795

Plymouth Argyle 0 - 4 Bristol City

Bristol city started there new season off against west country team Plymouth Argyle. Bristol knew that they were in for a tough a game and it was but Bristol had too much class for Argyle. The first half was frustrating for manager Arsenal 123 as neither team managed to get on the score sheet meaning it was 0-0 at half time. Bristol came out from the break well passing and moivng the ball around without Argyle getting a chance. And it payed off with the new signing Sükür Hakan getting 2 goals within 10 minutes of the restart. The 3rd goal followed shortly with Michael Mcindoe slotting it passed the outstretched keeper, this goal made it 3-0 and put the game beyond doubt. Bristol City then stepped back and decided to play on the counter attack, the next 15 minutes was full of Argyle passing the ball but not creating much. The fourth goal for City came on 76 minutes from another new signing Lilian Laslandes. This was the last piece of action in the game and it ended 4-0.

Bristol City 2 - 1 Burnley

The second game of the season saw Bristol play there first home game and it was against Burnley. Once again the opposition were unmanaged but a win is a win. The first goal of the game went to the home side and it was after 21 minutes. The goal came from Michael Mcindoe who scored his second goal of the season to give Bristol a goal advantage. The second goal of the game went to Burnley eliminating the defecate and it came from a defensive error. A poor pass from the right back Bradley Orr was intercepted by Burnley defender Steve Caldwell who was only up because of a corner previous. He may be a defender but he finished like a forward meaning it was once again level, 1-1. The teams went into the half time break with the scores at 1-1 and the scores stayed like that until the 74th minute when Bristol Cities Jamie Mcallister once again gave Bristol the lead making it 2-1. The scores stayed like that until the end giving Bristol City there second win from the first 2 games and put them into join first position only behind to Sheffield United by goal difference.

Manager Arsenal 123's interview with Sky Sports

Sky Sports : Hello Arsenal you must be very pleased with your first 2 games in charge.

Arsenal 123 : Well yes, what is there to be sad about played 2 won 2 can't get much better than that.

Sky Sports : Your next game will possibly be your hardest so far, against fellow 6 point team Southampton.

Arsenal 123 : Yes it will be tough but every game is tough, a win is never certain in this league and that is why it is so exciting.

Sky Sports : Have you bee looking at any new players recently?

Arsenal 123 : Well no not since the season began, i have been focused on the games, but if a see a player that may benefit the team i will not hesitate.

Sky Sports : How much money do you have currently that your chairman will allow you to spend?

Arsenal 123 : I currently have 11.6 million to spend but i will keep some of that in reserve, around 2 million so i still have 9.6 million to spend for the season.

Sky Sports : So it all seems good thank you for your time.

Star Players So far

Michael Mcindoe : He has been the best player so far scoreing 2 goals and had an assist so far this season.

Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam

Crystal Palace 1-3 Bristol City

' Ugur shows his class on debut along with Larsson '

Toggs admited his thoguht tonights clash would be a hard match but his side cruised past a strengthy Crystal Palace. Hendrik LARSSON gave City the lead after 29 Mins, he joined last night. City went in 1 up but after the break, Stalteri, on loan from Tottenham, equallized for Palace. New left midfielder Boral Ugur then scored twice (63,77) to secure the win for City.

The win keeps City in 6th, but a win next game could take them top, with the top 5 being so close:

1 Sheffield Wednesday 7 5 2 0 10 3 7 17

2 Preston North End 7 5 1 1 15 8 7 16

3 Coventry City 7 5 1 1 13 6 7 16

4 Sheffield United 7 5 1 1 19 13 6 16

5 BRISTOL CITY 7 4 3 0 11 4 7 15

Next game sees 6th placed Colchester travel to Ashton Gate. They have key players such as Gudjhonsen, Brocchi and Balboa, who are all expected to start. The game sees Tarnat, Bendtner, Jong-A-Pin and Jiminez unlikely to be risked.

Bristol City - EC 795

13.gif3-0 72.gif

Another win for Bristol City keeps them in the promotion spot and now there are only 3 teams who have won all 3 games Bristol City, Sheffield United and Norwich City. Manager Arsenal 123 went for a change of formation in tonights game and it worked very well. Instead of playing the 4-3-1-2 formation he went for a 3-5-2 (defensive) formation. He did this because he wants to keep all managers in the setup guessing he says that he will try other formations as well but against managed teams it will either be 4-3-1-2 or this formation as they have worked very well for me picking up 9 points from a possible 9. Two first half goals from Michael Mcindoe first and then Sükür Hakan meant that Bristol went into the break 2 goals ahead. Another second half goal on 49 minutes by Marvin Elliott killed the game off at 3-0 and that was the way it stayed. Another excellent performance gives City another 3 points.

Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam

Hit a bit of a blip, my side lost my last two games. These defeats are my only ones of the season, and so I still sit in 5th quite comfortably and am optimistic about promotion. Decided to sweep the changes so have listed a few players and will try and bring in some new players soon...am hoping to tie up a 85+ central midfielder and a striker as top priorities, or at least ones who rise to that very soon.

Re: Ross v Tom v Mark v Teb v Torley v Toggs v Sam

Match News

After a penalty shootout win in Round One of the English Shield, Bristol City's second string side defeated Cheltenham Town. Mourad Benhamida equalised for City after Steven Gillespie put Cheltenham ahead, with B.C going on to win 1-0 on penalties.

Extending their current unbeaten run to four games, Bristol City travelled to Selhurst Park last night and won by a comfortable scoreline again thanks to their prolific strike force of loanee Roman Bednar and pre-season signing Tarik Sektioui. A Palace side which boasted names such as Niklas Bendtner, Claudio Pizarro and Mark Noble were defeated by Philps young up-and-coming Bristol City side.

Roman Bednar currently on loan from promotion favourites West Brom, scored yet another goal in City colours on 40 minutes to give them the lead. He found himself in yards of space and made no mistake from 15 yards.

Just two minutes after the break, Bednar's forward partner Tarik Sektioui rose majestically and headed Hatem Ben Arfa's corner past Palace goalkeeper Speroni. The Moroccan forward fired in his sixth league goal of the season, a prolific return.

And as City sat back on the two goal lead, Claudio Pizarro casually rolled the ball into the net as he rounded goalkeeper Basso Adriano. Palace threw on Paul Dickov in a desperate attempt to at least salvage a point, not wanting to lose at home.

But scoring his seventh goal in eight league matches, on-fire loanee Roman Bednar thundered the ball past Julian Speroni in the Palace goal with only six minutes left. He really has been firing on all cylinders for his loan deal, and Philp is very pleased.

Transfer Update

20 year old Jeffren Suarez signed from Barcelona for a 'bargain' fee to move. Philp said earlier "He is definitely one for the future and at a club like this, he will get his chance soon enough especially as he is ever-improving and on the up, still young too".

And with the money raised from the departures of Louis Carey, Brian Wilson and Cole Skuse, the more spectacular ex-Internazionale midfielder Luis Jimenez joined Bristol City on a whopping deal - £3.3m, Darren Byfield and Enoch Showunmi completing the eventual move, a "favourite" of Bristol City boss Ross Philp now at Ashton Gate.

And having accepted a deal over £400,000 for unwanted player Kevin Betsy, Philp has moved quickly and is set to sign Udinese stopper Samir Handanovic. The 23-year old keeper is delighted to have received interest and would love to move to England, and with the aspirations of the Ashton Gate side, he hopes for promotion this season.

Also breaking from Ashton Gate just now, with the departure of Marvin Elliot for Handanovic to join, Philp will soon make a move for either David Jarolim of Hamburg SV or also at Udinese like Handanovic, Inler Gokhan is a target for central midfield.

Bristol City Vs Charlton Athletic

Charlton lie 18th and this should be a walk in the park. Despite the easyness, Toggs is set to put out his strongest 11, a win could take them 2nd. Luis Jiminez is set to start his 3rd game of the season ( I see Ross has faith in him aswell :) ) All of Luis Nani, Michael Silvestre, Gonul Gokhan and Buno Gama expected to deputise.

They should be what im using tonight. Report coming after the match :)

Charlton Athletic 2-1 Bristol City

Bristol City = 16 shots; 10 on target

Charlton = 7 shots; 2 on target

Stupid match engine :o Nicky Weaver of Charlton got MoM. Was happy to know that Jiminez got the goal but Nani, Ben Arfa and Larsson all quiet :(

Silvestre's debut equaled a red card... B.Wright Phillips gave Charlton the lead on 5 mins, Ilwemno doubled the lead after 38 mins. Jiminez equallized on the 52nd minute...

City drop to 5th and 7 points from top. But on top of that, there were the only team that didnt win for me tonight :o
