Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread Well, if the moment when Silva scored the winner for PSG ever becomes a "what were you doing when.." moment, then here's what Cahill and Terry was doing:

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

Lukaku was better than Mata imo. He got lucky with the goal and just didn't impress me throughout his bit. Lukaku on the other hand... wow' date=' a top youngster and looks like he could be a top player.[/quote']

Where you and me watching the same match mate?

Mata with his first 2 touches did more than Malouda did in the game in terms of creating chance. Mata movement on and off the was great . His dribbling was good and passing spot on. I agree with you about Lukaku he is a beast.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel according to reports in Holland.

The Dutch international has been tracked by a host of Premier League clubs all summer with Manchester United, Manchester City interested as well as European giants AC Milan and Inter Milan.

But it now appears that Andre Villas-Boas has beaten them to the highly-rated 23-year old’s signature in a deal worth around €32m.

I hope this is true he would be a great buy. ;)

Exactly. After yesterday's game, Chelsea need to buy other player than a RB.. Even more by that fee.. VDWiel said on twitter ''We had a weekend off.. So im just in london to chill and watch a few games, nothing more''.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

Well if it's true, I'm not complaining. It's a great signing. We'd have a great 2nd choice RB in Bosingwa, Ivanovic will be able to play CB as that's where he's best IMO.

Now we just need that creative midfielder and I wouldn't be surprised if we got one on deadline day in Modric. :P

That's a bit harsh on Malouda mate.

You shouldn't start dissing him just because Mata came off the bench and scored from terrible defending.

Malouda has been our best midfielder over the last two seasons' date=' and he's only showed up for about half of each.

Mata's going to probably play RW for us, and we'll have Flo at LW, unless we sell him, which I hope we don't. Mata is a class player, but I'm a little annoyed with that comment you made about Mata > Malouda for just a goal and two touches. Malouda was creating chances, but Lamps was letting him down in my opinion. Frank was very poor again yesterday, whereas Malouda was all over the midfield covering the wings as much as he could.

I just think your post was massively unfair on Malouda...[/font']

Wouldn't be better spent the money in a 2nd.. LB? I wasn't particularly impressed with Ashley Cole.. he probably needs concorrence to reach his best again.. with VDW arriving, could it mean that Alex could leave for Krasic as I read somewhere..?

Malouda is a player that I love at chelsea and I have met him before, so I don't have a vendatta against him. I am just being honest mate. Mata created more chances than him. TBH I could say the same about Lampard, but I am sure some guy will bring up the fact that he scored a penalty against me. Hope you understand mate. Mata RW and FloMo LW sound good though.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

I was just thinking... I know this is ages away from happening (most likely) but who will be captain once our legendary leader JT retires?! Considering Cole, Lampard etc would be gone too, and Cech wouldn't have long left either... he could have been replaced by one of our young prospects by then.

Let's just say the squad barely changes between now and when JT retires for arguments sake.. who do you guys think?! We're talking in 4 or 5 years time I reckon? :o

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

and that's where we get Alvaro Pereira. :)

How? Unless you pay the 30M€ you won't get him.. apparently Porto rejected 25M€.. in 30secs. I guess if was other team they would accept' date=' but as our President don't liked the attitude of Chelsea/AVB, we will sell him at the [i']price of gold[/i]..

He isn't worth £25 million... we've already bidded £16.5 million apparantly and I'd be dissipointed if we paid more than £20 million. I don't think we really need him.

McEachran perhaps, seeing as we're talking 4-5 years, he'll be 22/23 then. He does seem quite quiet though... but I'm sure JT can teach him to be a leader :D.

so, if Cole gets injured.. who would you use at LB? Of course is better have 3 decent RB's than two LB's.. and I will be disappointed if he leaves Porto, even for 30M€..

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

You dont pay 20 million for a back up left back.

Yeah, because that's the position in the football where there's an immense number of good options and you can buy good players for a bargain.. Real bought Coentrao for a LB/DM backup for 30M€.. you in Alvaro Pereira can have a LB/LWB/LM backup.. and if Cole keeps playing this way, Alvaro have much chances to start. And that's not our problem what clubs do with our ex-players. If you want them, you have to pay for them.

Re: Official Chelsea FC Thread

What do Porto care if he's going to be a back-up?

It would be brill for Porto if they got 20m out of him but I don't think Chelsea honestly need him. I'm actually worrying about Transfer Deadline Day as I can't see any big teams signing anyone except for Tottenham, Arsenal?, Liverpool?

With City's victory today Mancini won't buy any1 except for Cerci, Chelsea may buy some1 and United won't.

My point is, you dont need a great back up left back. A good one would suffice, no point wasting that much money on him, when ashley cole is going to be your first choice and play most games. Coentrao is looking like he might be a starter for Real.

Ashley was great against Stoke, although I missed the last game.

Gibz: Can Perreira play RWB or can he only play down the left hand side?
