17 year old Daley Blind, the son of Danny Blind is another Holland player who is making the headlines in his locality. Currently with Ajax Amsterdam, Danny Blind is still a B-junior, but the young defender / midfielder has become a definite value in the A youth.

Next to his career at Ajax, Blind is also a Holland youth international. With Holland U16 he qualified for the European championship . The tournament was held in Belgium in May 2007, where he scored 2 goals and was voted player of the tournament.

Martin van Geel is happy that Blind has committed to Ajax for an extended period. ,,Daley is one of the biggest talents of the club", said Ajax's technical director.

El Mundo Deportivo, stated the Catalans are keen to snap him.

He is highly regarded because with holland suffering lack of quality defenders , he is seen as a good gem.

He is also not on the DB.

Re: Daley Blind- A Dutch Prodigy

Here we come.

Daley Blind made his official Ajax debut in the Eredivisie match against Volendam.

The 18-year-old came off the bench around the hour mark to replace Cameroonian midfielder Eyong Enoh.

The highly rated youngster is a left footed holding midfielder, who can also play as a defender.

Re: Daley Blind- A Dutch Prodigy

does anyone know the Ajax first team atm?

what chance does blind has in making the first team in the near future?

cheers

High chances. Ajax just like other Dutch teams, are fond of risking their results by blooding inexperienced youth players.

And with Van Basten at the helm of affairs, expect more of that since he likes the youth policy.

If at this age he's getting some appearances for the first team, it wouldn't take much time to cement his place-provided he maintains a good performance.

It all depends on him now.

They don't have any regular midfielders except Rasmus Lindgren who's been used mostly.

Emanuelson been pooping from LM to LB.

Siem de Jong, Enoy, Sno, Sarpong, Bakirciogl├╝. All these have not had more than 6 starts this season.

So there aren't guaranteed starters.

He's got a chance.

Re: Daley Blind- A Dutch Prodigy

I bought him the day he was added. Any player linked with Arsenal got to be good.

That makes it 4 consecutive sub appearance.

If he continues like this and starts 1 or 2 games in between, what rating he is most likely to have.

I believe in few month, he will be a must buy.

Re: Daley Blind- A Dutch Prodigy

Can't believe the last message on Daley Blind was in 2008!

Let me refresh this for a second.

Netherlands+U21+v+England+U21+Kj9szYkKwmol.jpg

Name: Daley Blind [ Son of Ajax legend Danny Blind ]

Date of birth: 9 March 1990

Place of birth: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Height: 1.80 [ 5.11 ft ]

Current club: AFC AJAX

On loan at: FC Groningen since Jan. 2010

Player position: RB/CV [ Recently changed from Def ]

SM rating: 75 [ Will get a huge rise next rating change ]

Daley Blind is currently playing for FC Groningen on loan from Ajax. At Groningen he plays mainly as RB but can play every position in the defense. Thats why he used to be '' Def " but recently changed to '' RB/CV ''.

He is on loan because of Gregory van der Wiel who is Ajax's undisputed #1 right back and probably the best RB prospect. ( Read his thread )

At Groningen Daley Blind got the chance to develop, and so he did. He is a starter and plays every game. He plays good defense and his offense is also really good.

Quote from Goal.com;

'' Daley Blind (Groningen): Blind put in yet another impressive performance on Saturday evening. The Ajax loanee is quite solid in his defensive duties and is not afraid to go forward whenever possible, which he continually did against Heracles. '' - Player of the Week

He's is also a regular at the youth squads of the Netherlands. He probably will return to Ajax next season or the season after. The new FC Groningen coach [ starting next season ] is the former youth trainer of Ajax and has worked with Blind all the way through his carreer. He might want to keep him for next season. He has a bright future ahead of him, with several big clubs showing interest in him. In Holland all the experts are very positive about him + plus his dad was a (more than) solid pro which can't be bad for his development on and of the pitch. ;)

Great prospect Imo, I remember watching him with the Ajax youth team and was really impressed with him. He's been solid with Groiningen when he's played as well.

Yeah, saw him play again today. He looked like a right winger with his rushes on the right flank. He had a sick volley but was stopped by the keeper. Also he was the key in 1-0 goal. Which was also the end result.

He realy played amazing and imo the best player on the pitch.
