MrNiceGuy 649
Re: Gold Championship 14 (News, Gossip, Match Report, Etc) Thread Flamengo gave a second masterclass in 3 days, with this dominating victory over America. It was again Lukas Podolski who ran the show with another hattrick, taking his tally to 14 goals in 15 games for the season, and an outstanding 51 goals in 53 appearances for his club. Mengão dominated the match from the start, and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the 14th minute when Juan Vargas was tripped in the box. The first booking of the match came soon after, although it was Flamengo's captain Daniel Cata Diaz getting his name in the ref's book, following a late challenge. The scoring was opened almost straight after, hitting America on the break, Lukas Podolski when on a foraging run and his strike sent the crowd wild! A spectacular goal to add to the scrapbook! Andrea Dossena placed a twenty yard strike wide a minute after the restart, before a rare attack from America ended with Hyun-jin Lee straying offside. Mengao then took a 2 goal lead, with Ezequiel Lavezzi striking a powerful shot into the onion bad in the 27th minute. Lavezzi seems to be finding his feet in Rio now, taking his tally to 4 for his new club, and starting to form a deadly partnership with Podolski. Podolski had two more chances to score before half time, blasting wide on both occasions. Either side of Erwin Hoffer showing his desperation by taking a dive in the Flamengo box, but failing to fool the referee and earning himself a yellow card. Flamengo again started the stronger in the second half, with Jean Makoun finding space in the box, but heading onto the roof of the net. America's Erwin Hoffer then nearly gives the crowd something to cheer about as his drive whistles past the post. Two more chances followed for Podolski, first gaining control at the edge of the box but curls his shot inches wide, and then a spectacular overhead kick which flew wide of the mark. We didn't have to wait long for his second goal of the game though, collecting the long ball down the middle, and drilling home a right foot shot, in the 57th minute. America had another chance not long after, with Hyun-jin LEE trying to chip the keeper, but hitting it over the crossbar. Flamengo increased the score to 4-0 in the 68th minute, with Owen Hargreaves finding time and space to casually roll the ball into the net With just 3 minutes to goal, a speculative chip by Lukas Podolski secured the rout, and another match ball, with Guillermo Ochoa fumbling and the ball rolling agonisingly over the line! The result moves Flamengo into second place, but have a lot of work to do to catch River Plate, who maintained an 8 point lead with a 2-1 win away to fellow Argentinians Inependiante. Adebayor (2) A. Di Natale (23) N. Vidic (64) E. Diouf (73) A run that saw Man Utd only win five times in fourteen games looks to have ruined their chances of retaining the Premiership title and handed it on a plate to either Tottenham or Chelsea to battle it out. With four games still to go it is possible for United to come back but the teams above them are very good and are unlikely to slip up. Emmanuel Adebayor has made a good start since joining, scoring once but grabbing three assists and one man of the match award. With four games still to go it is possible for United to come back but the teams above them are very good and are unlikely to slip up. Tottenham are very good indeed , I topped the table in a run which saw wins over Everton, Man Utd, Chelsea, Derby and Newcastle, picking up the English Shield on the way. Henry is on loan from Barca, and helped me win today to stay one point ahead of Chelsea, after a disappointing 3-0 loss on Saturday. West Ham, Bolton, Reading and QPR to come (Away, Home, Away, Home). So Tottenham have a good chance of winning the title! Anyone got a 88+ LB and CB I can borrow for this end of season run in ? Bangura (29) E. Adebayor (32) N. Vidic (71) C. Ronaldo (74) The race for the Premiership title is hotting up with just two games to go. Kuldeep's Tottenham slipped up tonight allowing Chelsea to nip in and steal top spot at this late stage. Dai Winston hopes that his United team, currently in third can make the most of any more slip ups from the teams above and take the title.

AFCTU Jacko 1,337
Toulouse March Into Europe Toulouse all but secured Champions Cup football next season with a 2-2 draw at Bordeaux. Goals from Alvaro Negredo and Mauro Cetto earned them a point which sees them lie 3 points ahead of Marseille with a game to go, but assured in 2nd position by an 18 goal advantage in the GD column. Toulouse manager Jacko had nothing but praise for his players, who have mixed it with the big boys in Ligue 1 this season - "Lyon may have won the league, but we have pushed them all the way, and beaten Marseille, another massive club to get 2nd place - and all of this with a fraction of the resources available to those two clubs - the players have done themselves proud and will continue to do so next season I'm sure"
