sheva20 1,320
Benik Afobe is a 14 year old striker currently playing for Arsenal's under 16 team. He is the top scorer for the U16s and is a vital part of the team. He has got it all. Hes got pace, strength, good arial ability, great technique, great skills and a fine finisher as well. He is of Congolese descent but was born in England and has an English passport. He will look to push for a place in the English youth team. Arsenal fans that have seen him play are very fond of the player and are already labelling him another "wonderkid". They are all saying "REMEMBER THE NAME". They think that he is the next big thing. People also compare him to Eto'o due to his excellent movemment and good eye for goal. Hes not on the DB obviously....but i will keep everyone updated on how he does. I'll be watching his progress. Maybe he will make the reserves in like 2 years time and then he can carry on from there Benik in action against Everton in the Nike Cup ___________________________________ Any thoughts? vikingRun
IOA 1,958
Re: Benik Afobe- 14 year old wonderkid at Arsenal Just read this very interesting article on him. I'd recommend going to the link and checking the picture of him battling against Ronaldinho, if you can't read below. Benik Afobe’s rapid rate of development is simply phenomenal. The free scoring striker eclipsed Jack Wilshere’s Reserves debut record yesterday, when he entered the field aged 16 years and 4 days.Although he only featured for the closing 10 minutes, his inclusion in the squad capped off what has already been an explosive season so far. The Dagenham born England Youth international has had a hell of a week. After being one of the youngest players selected for the Three Lions Under 17 side, Afobe then shone when given a once-in-a-life-time opportunity to train with the Brazilian National team at Emirates Stadium. He got stuck in, as the photo shows, and even bagged a brace against Inter Milan stopper Julio Cesar in a training game. Benik’s big break came after 40 goals in 33 appearances for the Under 16’s last season, resulting in Liam Brady making him full time in the summer. Since then England recognition has followed, and his pedigree of 4 goals in 3 games suggests Arsenal have a goal scoring machine on their hands. His Under 18 debut brought a vital equaliser against Fulham, and to really show his quality, Afobe added the icing to the Gunners cake when he scored on his Youth Cup debut at Sunderland. Yet despite his rapid rise, little is said or reported on arguably the best young striker in the country. However, that seems to suit the 16-year-old, who will no doubt become an exciting player in his own right. Jack Wilshere’s significant dip in form has taken much of the focus off the Youth side, but in Afobe, Arsenal have another starlet worth all the attention.

jasonsgiants 10
Re: Benik Afobe- 14 year old wonderkid at Arsenal Its fair to say that him calling this thread is ironic considering its a Player Talent Scout thread. I guess we should just post threads on people when they are already known?
