Dai 7,302
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread 2 out of 2 Zaragoza 1 - 3 FC Porto Porto have started the season well and Winston is confident his players can keep the performances up and get into the top division. The Welsh manager is looking for consistency. Porto actually went 1-0 down after just 18 minutes when Roberto Ayala scored for Zaragoza. It was not long before Winston's men were back on level terms, new signing John Carew capitalized on a bad clearance and fired the ball into the net. That made the score 1-1 at half time. Carew scored his and Porto's second to cap off a fine debut near the end of the second half as he poked home after popping up in the right place. Just a minute later the win was sealed as Da Silva Paulo Assuncao curled in a majestic curler from 25 yards. (New signing Carew scored a brace on his debut) (Paulo Assuncao sealed the win with 3 minutes to go)

eddie101 170
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread PALERMO CONTINUE GOOD FORM! Palermo 2 - 0 Mallorca Palermo have continued their dream start to the season with a 2 - 0 away win over Mallorca. Palermo again went into the match as underdogs and again came out on top. The hosts played an talented line up, that was probably just a little better than Palermo's. Mallorca played a 4 - 3 - 1 - 2 formation, against Palermo's 4 - 2 - 2 - 2. Goals scored by Zaccardo and Amuri got the away team over the line. There was a sour note to the match as Zinha, Palermo's star player was injured for 5 weeks (with a hernia??) "We hadn't expected to win today. We were hoping for a point, but we ended up with all 3! Again I have to give credit to my players, they played their hearts out. They are really fired up to win this season, and this is the perfect start for doing just that. This win takes us to the top of the div 1 ladder. This is the start i could have dreamed of". When asked about the goals Ed Shaw replied: "Well my favourite was probably Amauri's goal. I have been urging him to shoot more often from distance and it seems to have worked! It was a stunner, 35 yard out and...BOOM... a goal from nowhere. However every goal counts towards goal difference, so lets keep em' coming!" Ed Shaw also commented on the fan support that has been present at the past 2 games. He said that he and the players were greatly boosted by coming out at an away stadium and seeing their own fans. Ed Shaw also thanked Mallorca's fans for being so hospitable. "There is no better sight than an away match with lots of your supporters present" For an in depth match report please click the link below: http://www.soccermanager.com/matchreport.php?fixtureid=19411894

De Souza Deivid put Fenerbahçe 1-0 to the good 5 minutes before half time with a thunderous strike. Deivid scored the first goal of the match Everton pushed Fenerbahçe hard in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts after substitute Mamadou Niang scored 12 minutes from time to earn Akash's side a deserved point. Smartdoc 5,262
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread THE SMARTDOC REPORT TURN 2 HEADLINE NEWS THE SPL/EUROPEAN FANS side took over at the top after an outstanding night for the team. Its 7 clubs were unbeaten on the night with 4 wins and 3 draws. The fantastic effort saw them overtake the Championship fans side at the top. THE BELEAGUERED LONDON FANS TEAM on the other hand had a dreadful night with no less than 5 losses which saw them drop to the foot of the table. The lack of a captain and a general lack of managers has been pointed out by the league's sponsors who have demanded that the side get together and appoint a captain and set about filling their team complement of managers. A REAL BARNSTORMER of a game ended in an amazing 4-4 draw at the Philips-Stadion. As well as sharing 8 goals TomEesha's Atletico Madrid and Tom Pham's PSV's match-up saw 3 players dismissed as fans of both sides left happy after the thrilling game. PRESSURE IS MOUNTING on several of the big gun's managers already so early in the season. 9 teams in all remain pointless, the biggest of which include Man Utd, Real Madrid and Liverpool. Div 3 round-up Lyon, Roma, Chelsea and Valencia all made it 2 wins out of two condemning Barcelona, Juventus, Man Utd and Real Madrid to defeats. Sevilla also won whilst there were draws at the Emirates stadium and the Allianz Arena FRED POSING AFTER HIS MATCH WINNING BRACE AGAINST BARCA Div 2 round-up Villareal, VFB Stuttgart and FC Porto remain the only sides with 100% records after impressive wins. HAT-TRICK HERO RODRIGO PALACIO PUTTING WERDER TO THE SWORD Div 1 round-up Palermo, Rangers and Lazio top of the pile all winning their second games. ZACCARDO SCORED THE LATE CLINCHER TO PUT PALERMO TOP THE CAPTAINS QUOTES George feels his side have made a good start and has admitted to being impressed by Norwich's start in particular. He's sure Tom and Kev are superb managers and will step up in the near future whilst admitting slight embarassment regarding his own side so far. His message for his team "Just keep trying your best and don't give up. As long as we do that the results will come" Ben gave a rallying call to the Liverpool fans side. "At the moment we maybe struggling down near the bottom, but believe me... this setup has hardly started. We will lift our heads up, We will fight back, and we are here to do only one thing... and that's prove a point that Liverpool fans, will no matter what, Never Walk Alone... and win". Much needed words I feel. Despite being mid-table Sparky admitted to being a little disappointed so far. "The two big guns of the group, Bayern and Manchester Utd. are under-performing. On the other hand Lazio are doing very well...Feyenoord are also doing well". He was a little bemused that some of his side's teams remained unmanaged and said he is eagerly looking to recruit some managers. Watlw was understandable happy with his teams performance so far. "I'm really happy at how things are going for our team.... I'd especially like to point out Villareal (Nathan), Rangers (Russell) and Roma (MrNiceGuy), who have achieved the maximum so far and stand within the top 3 of their divisions". He also went on to state the season is long and that the rest of his team will also climb their respective tables. Wesley Sneijder 1,163
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread Boji Sinks Pompey! Manchester City 2 - 1 Portsmouth Manchester City got their first win of the season win of the season with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Portsmouth at the Eastlands. This also saw the debut of signings Gérman Denis and Craig Gordan for the club, Portsmouth had all the early attacking flair though and hit the target on a number of occasions but Gordan was equal to them all. It wasn't new signing Denis who took the lead though, after getting the ball in the middle of the pitch Bojinov used his pace and skill to take it past numerous people and then force his way in the box to lash the ball home. Pompey seemed shaken by going one goal down, and after that there was no real attacking from either side but then with the first attack from the goal City doubled their lead. Micah Richards dummied the keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net, City now kept pushing onwards and Petrov was in fact put through but i poor first touch let him down. Bojinov was booked after time wasting and there was no real attacks for the rest of the half. HT Score: Manchester City 2 - 0 Portsmouth. At the start there was literally not one attack as City just looked to hold on to their 2 nil lead, but then with the first attack of the half, Lassana Diarra pulled a goal back for the visitors. He rounded Craig Gordan and then finished it from an acute angle. Portsmouth then began to pound the City goal and almost pushed City tottally back into the their own half but they could find now way through a stubborn City defence and an even more stubborn Craig Gordan. Valeri Bojinov perhaps had the best chance of the half, showing excellent footwork but failing to keep his shot on target. Sulley Muntari got booked for a silly foul on the edge of the box, and after that City just held the ball up, wasting as much time as possible which walked as the full time whistle inevitably blew. FT Score: Manchester City 2 - 1 Portsmouth MoM: Micah Richards (9)
AsianInvasian 4,266
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread Three-sy Does It! Since Samra has taken over at VFB, they have played three, won three and scored three each time! There form has propelled them into second place in the league behind Nathan Kirby's Villareal, but only on goal difference. FC Schalke 04 2-3 VFB Stuttgart Stuttgart started the season off with a narrow win against their compatriots, an 89th minute goal from Star Man Mario Gomez being the difference between the two. Levan Kobiashvili gave Schalke the lead in the 17th minute with a neat finish, and 18 minutes later Jermaine Jones doubled the lead with a mis-cued shot which squirmed under the keeper. Samra gave the teamtalk of his lifetime but to no avail, not until the 69th minute when South American starlet Carlos Villanueva scored with a diving header at the back post. 2 minutes later Michael Owen equalised, after a clever short corner, Owen turned his marker and curled one into the far corner. Gomez then got the winner, with a brilliant header. VFB Stuttgart 3-0 Fiorentina A straight out rout! Goals from Villanueva, Hitzlsperger and star man Gomez gave VFB a comfortable win at the Gottlieb-Daimler. VFB Stuttgart 3-1 FC Porto Barbosa Richarlyson gave Porto a shock lead in the 29th minute, but order was restored and VFB went on to score 3 for the 3rd consecutive time, Villanueva equalising 4 minutes after the break with his 3rd of the season, Hitzlsperger scoring a minute later, and then Pardo putting the result beyond doubt in the 65th minute. Next up is CSKA in the cup, Samra will be playing a very weak team, and does not expect to progress.
Smartdoc 5,262
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread THE SMARTDOC REPORT TURN 3 HEADLINE NEWS THE SPL/EUROPEAN FANS side extend their lead at the top of the table thanks to an amazing 7 bonus points through the efforts of their star players. Despite only having an average night results-wise the lead is stretched to 7 points over their nearest rivals. After the briefest of revivals, the Liverpool fans hit rock-bottom again. TIGA 31 was confirmed as the new captain of the London fans side after much deliberation. And he could not have made a better start inspiring his team to a much needed unbeaten night. 4 wins and 3 draws saw them close within touching distance of the Man U fans and the Rst of the EPL fans sides. He also expressed his delight at securing managers for most of his teams and in particular the fact that a couple of "local Reading lads" had taken up the challenge. MATCH OF THE NIGHT occurred at the Stadio Olimpico where Roma hosted Manchester United. Roma appeared bullish about their chances following their impressive start to the season but it was Utd. that took the early lead through stalwart Gigg's thumping drive. Roma were stirred into life and deservedly equalised on the 39th minute when the impressive Lavezzi continued his amazing goal-scoring start to the season. Goals either side of the half from the Tevez and Rooney partnership seemd to have sewn up the points, but Rome fough back and Lavezzi (again) and Bentley netted to give a final scoreline of 3-3. OTHER IMPRESSIVE RESULTS were produced throughout the league. Tom's Lyon produced a highly professional display against Inter with the impressive Delgado netting a brace. An amazing result in Florence saw Daniel's Fiorentina hammer Tom Pham's Athletico side 4-1. Clinical finishing was the order of the day as Tom's side spurned a host of chances whilst everything Fiorentina seemed to strike went in. In the top of the table clash in Division 1, Russell's Rangers are now top of the pile folowing a comfortable 3-0 victory over high-flyers Palermo. Yet to concede a goal, the Glasgow side have made a stunning start to the season Div 3 round-up Lyon and Chelsea maintained their perfect starts to the season with victories against the two Milan sides. Barcelona and Arseanl also won and Liverpool got their campaign going belatedly with a victory over high flying Valencia. Both Milan sides, Juventus, Bayern and Rea Madrid remain winless. CESAR DELGADO LEAD FROM THE FRONT AS LYON GO TOP Div 2 round-up A clash of two of the early season leaders saw Stuttgart overcome Porto 3-1 at home. Stuttgart were joined by Villareal as the only 100%ers left. Fiorentina, Schalke and Tottenham also grabbed wins, whilst Werder and Zaragoza picked up their first points with 1-1 draws. FLYING HIGH - ROSSI'S 3 GOAL VIRTUOSO PERFORMANCE OVERWHELMED ESPANYOL Div 1 round-up Rangers won the summit battle comfortably with a 3-0 win over Palermo. Managerless Lazio and Norwich continued their surprising start to the season to make up the top three with good wins. Udineses, Celtic and Manchester City also achieved narrow wins. MALIK FATHI SCORED AND EARNT THE MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD THE MANAGER'S INTERVIEW Every week The Smartdoc Report sends it's reporters around the world to get the inside view on this challenge. This week we sent our reporter to interview the man at the helm of the Red Devils.....Sheva20 Reporter: So Sheva, What's it like being at the helm of your favourite club? Sheva: It is a tremendous feeling, I have always dreamed of a managerial career and to be appointed as the club i worshipped as a child is a feeling that cannot be expressed simply by words. Reporter: You haven't had the best of starts. What's gone wrong? Sheva: Im not entirely sure. The finishing touch from the strikers seem poor and we arent converting shots into goals. Decisions are going against us as well. Cristiano hardly gets anything off referees these days. Even when he was genuinly fouled, refs blatantly ignore him. It is tremendously frustrating, John Terry clearly pulled his shirt inside the box in the match before last and the ref waved play on. These things happen i guess, we have to move on. Player morale isnt great at the moment, with the great Sir Alex leaving the club and the poor start we are off to. We need to improve and fast. Key players like Cristiano and Carlos (Tevez) are also not delivering the goods at the moment. Reporter: A recent game saw some fans protesting against your appointment replacing Sir Alex. What would you like to say to them? Sheva: It was disappointing to see such an attitude from the fans of such a prestigous club. They were shell-shocked after the resignation of Sir Alex and i knew that when i was taking the job, that a poor start off the blocks will mean a lot of fan protests. Unfortunately it has come to that. All i need is time. I am already under pressure and the fan protests arent helping me one bit. Give me some time and i can spring the results back our way. Reporter: How do you think you'll turn things around? Sheva: I have to get player's morale up. Many of them are demotivated, Sir Alex was a big influence on these players, especially on Cristiano. Since his departure, Cristiano hasnt been the same player. It is my responsibility to get him back to his best as he is pivotal in the team. The healing process would take time, but hopefully i can get these players pumped up sooner rather than later. Reporter: Have you got any potential signings to share with us? Sheva: I am afraid that this information is confidential. Dont be surprised if some key players do make their way to old Trafford soon though. Reporter: What are your aims for the season? Sheva: Well, naturally i am looking to win this division. Anything below a third place finish will be underachieveing and will be a big disappointment. I believe that i have what it takes to turn this around, so dont count us out yet! Tomorrow will see George's Mallorca make their way to England. We need to win this, and we should! Anything can happen though, i will be very frustrated if we are knocked out of the cup this early on! If we are consistent we can win the cup, but its up to the player now. Reporter: The captain of the Manchester U fans team, Sparky, last week expressed concern that the big guns of the group (Bayern Munich and Man U) are not yet in top gear. Is he right to be worried? Sheva: Personally, i am very disappointed because not only have i let the team down so far but i have let the man who had faith in me down as well. Our current situation shouldnt be too much of a worry at the moment because the season is only 3 games in, plenty of time to turn things around. Being concerned of our current situation wont really help us advance therefore the reason for my optimiitic attitude for the future. I hope my fellow managers take this approach. As i said earlier, we have quality managers to give this table a whole new look by the end of the season Reporter: Any final messages for the fans? Sheva: Just give me some time. The poor attitude doesnt help a new man in charge! If you want us to win games, be patient! I will get us back up in time, i can guarantee that. We have the quality but we are just very unlucky at the moment. Losing both games by a single goal and letting Roma grab two late goals. I will turn this ship around, believe in me!! STATS - Turn 1 Leading scorers: 1) Bojan (8 goals) 2) Lavezzi, Rossi (5 goals) Most assists: 1) Cesar (6 assists) 2) Quaresma (4 assists) 3) 9 Players (3 assists) Player of the week: GIUSEPPE ROSSI (hat-trick hero) Result of the week: RANGERS 3-0 PALERMO (Division 1 Summit clash and Rangers now proudly sit on top of the pile) UNMANAGED TEAMS: Boca Juniors, Feyenoord, Lazio, Portsmouth, Sevilla, Udinese, Valencia (PM Smartdoc if you are committed and interested) The opinions in this report are those of a simple man. sheva20 1,320
Re: Grudge match set-up transfer/news/match report thread Signs of things to come? After a stressful week in charge, Sheva has finally got himself and his team a great win. The win came yesterday in a cup fixture against struggling Mallorca. Manchester United showed no mercy as they brushed aside the Mallorca team. After an interview, Sheva vowed to the fans that he will turn this ship around and start getting some results their way and that is exactly what he has done. This should certainly relieve some pressure off the new man in charge. The Spanish side made their trip to Old Trafford. The fans were angered by the new man in charge because he had left key players like Ronaldo, Rooney, Vidic and Evra on the bench. Nani was given a start at right midfield, Roque Santa Cruz replaced Wayne Rooney, Wes Brown filled in for Vidic and Pique filled in for Evra. The fans were further angered by the fact that Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs werent even on the bench. Park Ji sung and Owen Hargreaves filled in for the two veterans. Sheva made some risky adjustments to an already struggling side. The game started well for the home team as Nani put them ahead after just 4 minutes. Roque Santa Cruz doubled the lead 3 minutes later with a great goal. Just past the hour mark, Tevez scored to make 3-0 after he took advanatge of some poor defending. 3 minutes later Sergio Ballesteros was sent off after he received his second yellow card as Mallorca fell even deeper into the whole. 10 men Mallorca walked into the dressing room trailing by 3 goals. Sheva brought on the young Anderson for Micheal Carrick at the break. The beginning of the second half saw Tevez score his second as Santa Cruz's effort was brilliantly saved by the keeper but Tevez followed up on the rebound. Anderson made it 5-0 as he thundered a header into the back of the net. Jonas Guiterrez pulled one back for Mallorca but it was jsut a consolation. Santa Cruz added the cherry on the top with the best goal of the match after he scored a 25 yard scorcher. He also grabbed the MoM for his stunning performance. Interview Interviewer: Your thoughts on the game tonight? Sheva:Well it was nice to get off the mark in style. We played great football, nice to see Santa Cruz chipping in with two goals and a cracking performance. This should win me some points with the fans. Hopefully we can carry this form to the end. Interviewer: It looked like a whole different team out there tonight, what did you do different? Sheva: We were struggling to get the results so i thought a change in tactics were in order. I have had chats with the players and team morale within the camp is getting better and i think the players will be back to their best soon. A brace from the Paraguyan
