Scorers

Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE (Newcastle Utd), 38 & 48 mins

Florent MALOUDA (Chelsea), 39 mins

Alberto RICARDO CARVALHO (Chelsea), 54 mins

Newcastle Utd got a creditable draw away from home to title chasing Chelsea, the first goal didn't come until the 38th minute and it was Newcastle Utd who got it and it was young Spanish left back Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE who got it to put Newcastle Utd 1-0 up but Newcastle Utd couldn't hold on to the lead as only one minute later it was 1-1 and the goal was scored by Florent MALOUDA to make it 1-1 going into half time.

The second half got underway and with only three minutes in Newcastle Utd restored their lead as it was Sanchez JOSE ENRIQUE again who put Newcastle Utd 2-1 up and although the lead lasted longer than last time it was Chelsea who equalized and it was only six minutes after Newcastle Utd had went 2-1 up and it was Alberto RICARDO CARVALHO who got the equalizer to make it 2-2 and that is the way the game ended to give Newcastle Utd and Chelsea a share of the points.

Newcastle Utd's previous five results

League - Tottenham 0-2 Newcastle Utd

Rostov 0-5 Lokomotiv Moskva

Ross Philp's Lokomotiv Moskva side look to have totally swept the opening day defeat at Legia Warsaw to the back of their mind as they continue to win with ease. This time it was Rostov who were brushed aside as German Re started the scoring after just eight minutes. Dmitri Sychev got in on the action, but nobody could stop the *Peter Odemwingie show as the forward grabbed a hattrick in this match which takes his goal tally to a total of seven for this campaign so far. Shakhtar and Zenit are equal on points at the top of the league, but Lokomotiv are only two further back and will look to make ground up on them both in their match against Chornomorets on Saturday night. Zenit face Kazan, and its Shakhtar v Amkar.

Its seven in six now for Odemwingie, who will look to continue against Chornomorets

Zenit go Joint Top

After the second XI lost narrowly in the cup first round last time out, the first team at Zenit was right back to business with their fifth consecutive victory in the Eastern European championship, beating Chornomorets 4-2 away from home in a hostile Ukranian atmosphere.

Barely 20 seats were free in the Tsentralnyj as the two teams took the field, and the crowd were certainly not dissapointed as a end to end game with plenty of attacking football ended with six goals, and a sensational hat trick for Zenit's pre-season signing from Porto, Tarik Sektioui. Chornomorets performed well at home against a strong Zenit side but ultimately couldn't cope with the Moroccan international up front, who put away his chances superbly and joined strike partner Pavel Pogrebnyak on the scoresheet after the Russian hitman set off the scoring as early as the 5th minute. Despite sustaining a certain amount of pressure from the Ukranian home side at times, it was a very efficient performance from Deveney's men away from home and they were very clinical on the counter attack, finishing sharply when the chances fell their way. The only blot on the scrapbook of Zenit was the sending-off of club captain Anatoily Tymoschuk, who was given his marching orders after reacting in a rage to something said by an opponent, who he headbutted in his moment of madness. This mistake will mean a three game suspension for Zenit's key central midfielder, and he will miss the big game between 2nd and 3rd on Saturday evening against Rubin Kazan. Managed by Tom Mills, a manager who Deveney likes and respects massively, there will be no love lost in the quest for a very important three points.

This is Football!

Zenit St Petersburg 7 - 5 Rubin Kazan

One of the greatest games anybody is ever likely to see took place in the Eastern European division this evening as a 12-goal thriller fell in the direction of Zenit St Petersburg, who picked up a sensational three points in his clash between the second and third placed outfits in the league.

Within possibly the most astonishing opening to a game ever seen Zenit took a 3-0 lead after barely 4 minutes as Tarik Sektioui and Radek Sirl (2) finished brilliantly to leave Tom Mill's Kazan in a state of shock. Such a flying start could of seen the rest of the game die out, but not tonight, as the goals continued to fly in at a serious rate. Four minutes later Rubin Kazan had their first reply as experienced Serbian centre forward Savo Milosevic lashed home a superb long range finish, breathing life into the visitors and bringing them right back into the tie.

The game was never one for defending and the goalscoring trend was continued in spectacular fashion when Zenit's superstar attacking midfielder Andrei Arshavin wandered past three defenders with what looked like no effort, before sliding beyond the advancing Gabulov in goal. Zenit's three goal cushion was back in place but for barely two minutes as the game of the season continued to amaze anyone watching at the packed Petrovski or at home, as Milosevic notched once again with a slightly lucky but effective goal which made the game 4-2. Just ten minutes later Moroccan international Sektioui bagged his second in emphatic fashion as he powered the ball home from close range after a lightning-quick run, but Milosevic, fed by some strong counter-attacking football, completed a wonderful 25-minute hat trick as his sharp turn and finish was too good for Malafeev in the Zenit goal. 5-3 at half time in one of the best opening 45 minutes ever seen in terms of clinical attacking football and entertainment.

After Milosevic finished off his hat trick in the 25th minute of the game, the goalscoring stopped until later on in the second half, but the attacking football from both sides continued at an outrageous tempo. Tarik Sektioui, who has been a revelation since his pre-season move from FC Porto, completed his own three-goal haul with 19 minutes to play as he roasted the flat-footed central defender and coolly curled the ball beyond the onrushing and deserted Kazan goalkeeper. Hasan Salih soon pulled one back with another wonder goal but Arshavin made it seven 3 minutes after this, scoring an unfamiliar glancing header. Milosevic got his fourth with five minutes to go in a superb individual effort but it was only a consolation as Zenit picked up the three vital home points againt one of their closest rivals, which allows them to keep up the tight pressure on Shaktar Donestk at the top of the table, who only lead Deveney's men on goal difference. Man of the match went to Deveney's buy of the year so far Tarik Sektioui, who picked up his second hat-trick in as many games tonight.

Man of the Match - Tarik Sektioui mom.gif

Sky Sports caught up with Zenit's man at the helm Luke Deveney after this astounding game and he had this to say for himself and his side:

SkySportsLogo.gif

Well what can i say, what a game of Football! The best i have ever seen as a manager, spectator or player, and i am delighted that we managed to come out on top come the final whistle. Both sides were superb and played football exactly how it should be, and my credit goes out to Tom his side were great tonight and were a credit to the game and their fans, having a right go at us. The shield is next up for us away at Nalchik, the 2nd XI will get their chance once again and we will see what they can do.

Re: Gold Championship 15 - Match Reports / Transfers ETC.

Ac Milan showed their strength in the one way encounter with Catania at the Angelo Massimino stadium where Samuel Eto'o scored a wonderful hattrick. Oddo, Seedorf & Brocchi were also on the scoresheet which takes Milan top of the table one point in front of fierce rivals Inter Milan.

However despite just recently moving to Italy the media are speculating that Friel could well be leaving the San Siro in the near future. The Scotsman has openly admitted that he is having problems adapting to the new life style and could soon be heading home if Milan agree to a termination of his contract.

Lokomotiv Moskva 4-1 Chornomorets

Lokomotiv Moskva under Ross Philp named the same side which were on a winning streak as they looked to make it five in a row tonight with a home win over Chornomorets. Abou Diaby struck on twelve minutes with his first goal in four matches and this was followed up by Dmitri Sychev's goal. And a striker in form, making it nine goals in seven matches was *Peter Odemwingie who yet again won the game for Lokomotiv tonight.

Peter Odemwingie gets his ninth goal of the season to help Lokomotiv win tonight

_39812989_odemwingie270.jpg

Rubin Kazan lost so Lokomotiv went above them into third, and it all depended on the other results. Both Shakhtar and Zenit won their respective matches, so Lokomotiv stayed third and are currently unbeaten in six league matches. And now on Wednesday, Philp's side face Rubin Kazan away at the Tsentralni with the other matches seeing Shakhtar host Zenit and should they draw, Philp's side can go top should they win.

Zenit go Top

After last week's thirteen-goal thriller at the Petrovski, Luke Deveney's Zenit st Petersburg travelled away to the Ukraine to meet Shakhtar Donetsk, and after leaving Russia joint on points with tonights hosts, they finished the evening three points clear as they produced a quality away performance to defeat Keith Fitzsimon's men by 3-1.

Two of Zenit's key players, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Andrei Arshavin came up with this goods this evening as they scored one and a brace respectively to put the home side to the sword. In a sell-out Shakhtar stadium, Pogrebnyak's right-footed drill into the bottom corner and Arshavin's classy double silenced the atmosphere of the home fans as Zenit replied in sensational fashion to Tressor Moreno's early screamer. With Locomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow both dropping valuable points this evening, it allowed Zenit to open up a small but nonetheless important gap at the top of the Eastern European table. Another Ukrainian outfit, this time Dnipro will take on Zenit on Saturday, but back in the familiar surroundings of the Petrovski.

Aston Villa got their first win under new manager Sparky with a brilliant 3-1 win over Everton. It was an important win as Sparky had lost his first game in charge, the Ex Barcelona man was relieved with the win.

Two goals from John Carew and a Rodallega goal was enough to take all three points, Ecerton however grabbed a consolation goal through Joleon Lescott.

Zenit enter Busy Phase of Season

Zenit St Petersburg manager Luke Deveney is entering his most important phase as boss thus far after making a superb start in the Eastern European league. After losing his opening game as boss, he has turned the fortunes right around, winning nine consecutive league games and taking a four point lead in the table. Saturday saw Deveney's men take another victory in their league season, albeit narrowly 1-0 against a solid Dnipro, and this game has now sparked a heavily built schedule which will test the squad to the full:

04 Jun Division 1 A - Saturn

06 Jun SMFA Shield Round 1 A - Shakhtar Donetsk

07 Jun Division 1 H - Spartak Moskva

09 Jun Russia & Ukraine Shield Round 2 H - FK Moskva

11 Jun Division 1 A - Krylia Sovetov

14 Jun Division 1 H - Dynamo Kyiv

Squad rotation will take place in this type of periods throughout the season, and Deveney has called for a couple of loans, preferably 86+ at LM and F/CF for cup games if any manager have players available.
