Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Sunderland 1-0 CARDIFF

Cardiff City are now yet to win in 5, the team are tired and failed to impress at all last night.

The first half was pretty decent for Cardiff, they defended and attacked well. When Guiza then got sent off on 26 for headbutting, Cardiff thought they may have a chance at winning the game. Cardiff didn't take their chances though and the referee's whistle went for half time with the score still at 0-0.

The second half was quite open and alot of the play was in midfield with both teams getting the odd chance, But on 85 when Cardiff just thought they might take home a needed point, Pizarro hit the ball right at Almunia, it bounced back out for Kone to tap the ball into the net. Sunderland had won all 3 points. Cardiff now have the task of winning their last 2 games and other teams maybe slipping up otherwise their back down to Division 2, the task to go back up will start again.

Cardiff's last 2 games are against Portsmouth and CHELSEA, the Bluebirds will really have to kick into gear to stay up, will they be joining Aston Villa in Division 2 next year?

Kone hits the ball in the net to give Sunderland all 3 points.

OXFORD UTD 1-1 PETERBOROUGH UTD

Oxford Utd kept up their push for a coveted play off slot despite a scrappy performance today at Kassam Park where they were held to a 1-1 draw with play off contenders Peterborough Utd.

Richard Vanigli put the visitors ahead in the 30th minute with a well taken goal. 0-1. Oxford Utd striker Santos Weldon squandered a few chances to level the score and on loan midfielder from Millwall Nicolas Lodeiro' date=' went inches wide with a beautiful curling shot from distance. HT 0-1.[/size']

Weldon resumed after the break to torment the Peterborough Utd defence but could find no way through the solid outfits back four. In the 54th minute Tomasz Hajto was booked for a reckless challenge and the home sides nerves were beginning to show. Peterborough Utd held fast until the 73rd minute when substitute Antonio Eder outpaced the visitors defence and smashed home the equaliser to the delight and relief of the near nine thousands fans. 1-1.

In the 84th minute, another horrific tackle from Hajto saw the referee produce a red card for a second offence and left the home side hanging on for a priceless point in their pursuit of a play off spot. FT 1-1.

Manager David Belkevitz spoke to an SM reporter after the match and said, "This was one of our worst displays since I took over but I put it down to nerves. The lads were under a lot of pressure out there not to slip up, as were Peterborough Utd, they were the better team on the day and can consider themselves unlucky not to take all three points, but full credit to my lads for hanging in there against the odds and scrapping for a draw."

This result certainly eases things for Oxford Utd although there is still some work to do, but with a strong goal difference, Wycombe Wanderers have to win both their remaining matches and hope that the teams above them falter.

Argh!!!!

I'm so unlucky...:o

Preston thrashed in Roses clash

Preston were humiliated by Leeds Utd, after being beaten 3-0 in the War of the Roses match.

This defeat virtully ends Preston's play-off push, with the Lilywhites three points from 6th place with 6 points to play for. Michael Owen came off the bench with the score at 3-0, and was perhaps Preston's best player on the pitch.

Preston play Plymouth in the final home game of the season, with a win essential to keep the small flame of the play-offs alight.

In other Division 2 news, Man City have secured promotion to Division 1 after a 1-0 win over third-placed Burnley, Julio Cruz with a stoppage time winner. And in the play-off race, due to a variety of results, the points difference between 4th and 12th is just 3 points. Reading started their push for survival with a 2-0 win over relegated Leicester. They are now three points behind Cheltenham but with an inferior goal difference. Bear in mind, Cheltenham were leading Division 2 earlier this season.

Jagielka plans Leicester return

Preston defender Phil Jagielka is expected to return for the final league match of the season against Leicester, according to the player. The England international has been out for half a season with right knee ligament damage, and was expected to miss the entire season. But the Preston manager added that he may be given an early summer break.

"If we have nothing to play for come the Leicester game, he will not play. I dont want to rush him back if the game means nothing."

Blackburn win and stay top of the table. Worryingly they will be without Arshavin' date='Kolodin and Ignashevich for the last 2 games:rolleyes:[/quote']

Why Ignashevich? Only Kolodin and Arshavin are unavailable.

Manchester City Secure Division 1 Promotion

Manchester City Fans Celebrate, As Promotion Is Confirmed

Last night Manchester City played perhaps there hardest fixture of the season against third placed Burnley. City boss Gaudin knew going into the game that his boys had to win this game to stand a chnce of getting promoted to division 1.

The game stayed stalemate for nearly the whole 90 minutes with Manchester City playing offensive tactics and Burnley the oposite, but on the 86th minute Manchester City's leading goalscorer Julio Cruz notched a cracker to win the game.

After just one season at the helm of City Baillie Gaudin has achieved what every manager dreams of, promotion to division 1. Next season will be tough but activity in the transfer market is not lacking and hopefully City can bolster their squad ahead of next season.

Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

he appreared as injured on the report:confused:

The report lies! ;)

Ive had that happen a lot of times to me. Just last match Stephen Ireland came up as injured on the match report, but was totally fine. Theyre only injured if it comes up in the news, and if you want to be certain, check their profile.

Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Waiting List Update

No free teams at the moment, but as the set-up has become rather popular of late, we are trying to implement a so-called waiting list..The term it self is somewhat misleading there is no formal waiting list to join the set-up, anyone can join at anytime if there is a vacancy. In an attempt to keep the set-up full, what does exist is an arrangement between the set-ups active Forumers, that if offered a job at a vacant club [which they plan to turn down], they inturn hold open the post until someone, who has expressed an interest via the forum can take it. This is the only list and it only works if a post is in the hands of a forumer, as the set-up contains about 40 active forumers there is a 50% chance that a free spot will be offered to them. If it is not then it can not be held open. As it stands this Waiting list reads

King Kolo

Monty

Jinky

HuntyCFC

I suggest you check the thread regularly as the Dates since last log in, on these clubs are as follows,

Watford 2 July

Bristol City 12 July

Bradford 13 July

All 106 guys,Can we remember to try and be discreet lads?- so if one of the jobs becomes free and you notice it, perhaps pm KING KOLO instead of posting it here.

MATCH REVIEW

WYCOMBE WANDERERS V OXFORD UTD

Oxford Utd travel to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday in a make or break match for a play off spot. Oxford Utd need only a draw to make it virtually impossible for Wycombe Wanderers to make the play off. Oxford Utd have a superior goal difference as they go into the match with a fantastic run of only one loss from their fifteen matches under the leadership of manager David Belkevitz. The Oxford Utd manager talked this morning at their training ground, " It's a big match no doubt about it and we will approach it as we have all our matches. We will be without Hajto at the back following his sending off and he will be missed, but that's life. We have no injury worries and the lads know that this is the final push to achieve their goal. It's going to be a difficult match as Wycombe have so much to play for also, but we have had a great run against all the top teams in recent weeks and I'm confident that we will get the result we need from Saturday's match. The pressure is on them to win the game, we only need a draw, so it will be an interesting game and a battle of wits."

I'n only charging what the previous manager paid for him. Quite how he managed to spend £5.9m I don't know but I'm not selling for less.

When the previous manager bought him he was a free agent hence he could even be signed for 99.9 million as it happens in GC's. 6 million would never go through. If you are willing to lower your price I might be interested.

You know you'd be mad to quit the best setup in the game though. So many people (including King Kolo there) leave and regret it...
