Oxford Utd manager David Belkevitz brought 27 year old Lloyd Dyer to the club as a free agent. The club agreed a fee of 1.5 million pounds and Dyer will make his debut tomorrow against Brighton at the Kassam Stadium.

article-1102145-02E54B6B000005DC-39_468x361.jpg

The Oxford Utd coach said this morning at training, "Lloyd will hopefully give us more width on the left in the midfield area. I had to use either young Lodeiro or Badelj out there and although they did a great job, I wanted them to play from the central midfield positions where I believe they will be much more effective. I used the cash from the sale of young Russell Martin, he's a talented prospect but because of our position, I have no room to bring him on in matches because every one is a do or die affair to stay in the Division. I honestly believe that we have succeeded in avoiding the drop so I have one eye on the rest of the season and one on next season. My worry is that my three most influential players are all on loan from other clubs, Lauro has been magnificent in goal for us and as I mentioned before, young Badelj and Lodeiro have been tremendous in midfield. And we have some great strikers in Weldon and Eder and Reinaldo which has given us relative safety for this season, but we should never count our chickens but 38 points is what I was aiming for and we have 31 with 14 games to play so I'm confident we won't go down."

Dean Bryant open to Aleksandr Kokorin exit

DinamoMoscowvTerekGroznyPremierLiga.jpg

Aleksandr Kokorin failed to break into the first team this season

Aleksandr Kokorin will be allowed to leave Charlton Athletic for the right offer at the end of the season, but only if Dean Bryant can find an adequate replacement. Kokorin's future at The Valley has been cast into some doubt after his agent revealed the 18-year-old is keen to find alternative employment at a club that will offer him regular first-team football. However, Bryant will require any buying club to match Kokorin's asking price, reported to be £4.5 million, and to have located a replacement he is to consider a sale.

"There is a price to be met if someone wants to buy Aleksandr Kokorin," Bryant said. "If the club is happy with that price, we will go to Aleksandr and say, 'We've accepted a deal from a certain club - now it's up to you to see if you can sort your side of it out'. But we would have to find a replacement for him to allow it to develop into him being transferred. At his age, I'd understand if he wants to play first-team football and at the moment he can't get it here. If he wants to get it somewhere else, I'd understand that. He's still young and he needs to have some minutes under his belt in order to improve on his career. For me, last year he was excellent, he made himself fit all the time and improve on his skill at every training. He was given some first team football last season and he did well. But this season we are not in the situation where we can bring in young and unexperience player to play in this level. This league is getting tougher and we need experience players week in week out to keep ourselves in the top half of the league."

"I was looking forward to the start of the season with him playing in the cup games but we have Sebastian Giovinco and Javier Pastore who can operate upfront and we put them in the slightly unimportant matches. They both played so wonderfully well that we believe we have a well-covered for the striker position. But our key strikers would be Eduardo da Silva, Radamel Falcao and Danko Lazovic who I think are doing a good job so far."

Eduardo signs new deal at Charlton until Season 12

Eduardo: Signed two-season extension contract with Charlton

Charlton Athletic striker Eduardo da Silva has signed a new contract which will keep him at the Division 2 club until Season 12. The Croatia international has penned a two-year contract extension with his previous deal ending end of next season. A statement from the club read: "Charlton and Eduardo have reached an agreement to extend the player's contract until December 30, 2011. The player will receive £817k for the Season 8 campaign with another £2.4 million for the next three seasons."

Giovinco signed new contract with Charlton

The 26-year-old, who has been a key player for the Addicks since arriving at The Valley in Season 7 from Manchester City, has recently been linked with a move to Tranmere Rovers. Charlton also confirmed Sebastian Giovinco will remain at the club until the end of Season 13. The Italian midfielder, another reported target of Tranmere Rovers, would have become a free agent at the end of next season.

Stephen_McManus_1209058c.jpg

(Celtic full back Steven McManus returns for Scotland tonight against Russia.)

With attention set of Gillingham for tonight Jake and he's Scotland side have today left Glasgow Airport for Russia where the Scots will have to go through the Russians on their quest to reach the World Cup finals. Jake who drew he's first game in charge of Scotland still fears that he's side can lose in Russia witch could put Scotland's qualifiying hopes down. Scotland are currently second in their qualifiying group and with a win over Russia tonight could see Scotland go top of Group 10. Jake is set to play the usual 3-5-2 formation against Russia tonight witch could boost their qualifiying hopes by alot more.

Huddersfield Town 2 Millwall 4

Millwall crept into the play-offs for the first time this season, after an ill tempered 4-2 victory over Huddersfield Town at the Glaphram stadium on Wednesday night. With Town deprived of the Injured Marcus Berg, boss Dermot O’Brien brought in Alessandro Rosina in the hole behind lone striker Alvaro Negredo .O’Brien had obviously had his thinking cap on as he ditched his preferred 4-4-2 for a holding 4-5-1 set up , choosing to sacrifice fire power in favour of an additional midfield man to compete with the combative Millwall central midfield. After a spell on the bench German Ashkan Dejargh returned to the Lions staring line-up in place of Mcgeady as Millwall’s Dave Izod looked to counter Huddersfield free flowing wideman Sidney Govou.

805651972.jpg

Hat trick hero Ed Grafitte

In a dynamic First half, it looked like the Millwall man had got it right as the Lions raced to a two goal lead with barely 15 minutes on the clock. The first came within 2 minutes of kick off, and with the Town defences concentration clearly left in the dressing room, a fine passing move by the Lions was finished off by the unmarked Brazilian, Ed Grafitte. With the Yorkshire team reeling from the early mishap Grafitte was on hand 13 minutes later when , after a lung busting chase by Martins, the ball was cut back into his path for him to place wide of keeper Handanovic and into the hosts net. In fairness to Town, they responded with the determination that has marked their campaign so far and after a quick interchange of passes right back Bruno Salter did well to get to the bye line ahead of Simunek, before placing the ball on the head of the arriving Sidney Govou, giving the floundering Craig Gordon little chance of preventing an almost immediate response. Despite the glimmer of hope and the roars of a supportive home crowd, Town failed in gaining any momentum and in fact the Lions soon resumed their domination of the half. Grafitte went close with a header before Danny Montenegro continued his bright start in a Millwall shirt with a rasping long ranger that fizzed past the Huddersfield upright. Indeed it was little surprise that the Lions restored their two goal advantage on the half hour mark as Grafitte completed a fantastic first half treble with a world class curled effort after the Lions quickly moved the ball through the middle of the park. With the game drifting towards the break referee Bebek was forced to impose some summery justice, first on Towns Ziani who was unlucky to pick up a yellow, before quickly repeating the act for Dejargh after a spiteful challenge on Govou.

The second half saw a much more proactive Huddersfield take to the field and from kick off Town concentrated their efforts down the Left flank. Obviously still smarting from Dejarghs over aggressive attentions the intended recipient of the advance, Sidney Govou continued his confrontation with the German and immediately earned himself a yellow for blatant shirt pulling as referee Bebek issued a stern talking too to both players. Unbelievably barely a minute after the onfield dressing down the ill disciplined Dejargh attempted decapitation of the speedy winger provoked the Croatian official into issuing him a second yellow card and in turn his marching orders for the dangerously high challenge.

ashkan-dejagah.jpg

A furious Dejargh recieves his matching orders.

Sensing the opportunity of a fight back Huddersfield immediately launched into a ferocious offensive and with the increasingly influential Karim Ziani leading the charge grabbed a goal back on the hour mark as Rosina gleefully tapped home after being presented with the ball by the butterfingered Gordon in the visitors goal. With Town in the ascendancy the Lions found themselves under siege and within a minute of the goal Semak’s header was just inches away from a memorable equalizer. With a Rosina shot hacked off the South Londoners goal line, boss Dave Izod had seen enough and in a flurry of substitutions signalled a switch to a defensive 5-4-1 hauling Boselli and Grafitte in favour of Gardener and Remy. The introduction of the eager Remy into the fold brought an immediate response from the Lions , Lemonie missed an absolute Stone Waller on 75 minutes, only for Remy to show his countryman where the net was a minute later after pressurising the town back 4 into a defensive blunder. The Lions fourth goal had a visible effect on the Huddersfield players spirit and as their resistance fell into ill-discipline , the end of the game was marred by its second sending off, this time Marcos Senna for lashing out at Ferdinand. The victory see’s the Lions move up to 6th place, 5 points behind 2cnd placed Stoke with next up a visit to the New Den from middle of the table Leeds United...Mr Holt

Dean Bryant hails Javier Pastore agreement

javierpastore.jpg

Javier Pastore: Highly-rated young attacking midfielder

Charlton Athletic are close to securing the long-term future of midfielder Javier Pastore, the club announced on Saturday morning. Manager Dean Bryant confirmed talks are at an advance stage with the 20-year-old attacking midfielder and hope agreement would be sealed within the next few days. Pastore has continue to progress to become one of the hottest prospect in England since his move from Huracan and his emergence has been watched closely by a number of clubs.

"I have had long discussions with Javier over his future and I am delighted that he sees his future here," Bryant told the club's website. "There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Javier, but we have made it quite clear that he is going nowhere and we are delighted to be in a position now where we can secure his future. He is an exceptional talented young lad who I believe he will playing an important part in the next few seasons, so I am delighted he is with us now."

Pastore, who has been capped at Argentina Under-21 level, completed a permanent move from Huracan to The Valley in mid Season 7 and made an impressive two-month loan spell at Swindon Town last term.

"I'm very happy at Charlton and I always saw myself being here for some time to come, so I am delighted we are very close to coming to an agreement," said Pastore. "The fact that discussions have gone so well with the manager means I have given the green light to my agent to have further discussions on a new deal."

20_1198938111.gifCharlton Athletic v Liverpool: Preview44_1201797906.gif

Charlton Athletic face the daunting challenge of a visit from in-form Liverpool on Saturday as they seek to remain in the top half of the league. They are currently sitting at 10th place, below Aston Villa on goal difference and, given that Liverpool are on seven unbeaten run in the league, may fear the worst. That said, Charlton look to be starting to enjoy their role as the underdog: in their last three games, they have taken three points at Cardiff City and Leeds as well as holding Huddlesfield Town at The Valley. With Liverpool having allowed leads to slip to draw with Cardiff City, Huddlesfield Town, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Watford in recent weeks, there is hope that they can steal a point. History suggest the South Londoners have reason to be optimistic as they have won in their first meeting at Anfield early this season.

CroatiaTrainingPressConferencejAECG.jpg

Eduardo da Silva: Charlton's top scorer

Charlton player in focus: Eduardo da Silva. With 7 goals already this season, Eduardo is Charlton's top scorer and he remains the most likely man to help Charlton spring a shock. He was previously substituted in the 1-0 defeat to Leeds United to ensure his fitness level for their crucial clash with the league leaders and Eduardo is expected to start in the match playing alongside either Radamel Falcao or Danko Lazovic.

steven_gerrard_training.jpg

Steven Gerrard back in training with Liverpool after international duty

Liverpool player in focus: Steven Gerrard. Gerrard made his surprise comback to Anfield last week and has made it clear he is the best Division 2 midfielder with two stunning goals against Stoke City in midweek. While Frédéric Kanoute was stealing most of the headlines in the first part of the season, Gerrard has reasserted himself as the club's real star this time round. Gerrard was struggling with form while at Arsenal and he has rediscovered his best form with his childhood club and he now looks as potent in front of goal as he did at Arsenal in Season 5.

nigedejongvsgerrard.jpg

Key battle: Nigel de Jong v Steven Gerrard. Charlton captain Nigel de Jong is a hard-working defensive midfielder with the ability to stifle creative talents. With Gerrard currently at the heart of Liverpool's best work, de Jong could go some way towards restricting their creativity if he successfully carries out a one-on-one marking job on the English playmaker.

Tactics: Charlton adopted an offensive approach when they beat Liverpool in their first meeting and they are likely to try to shut the visitors down and try to nick a goal from set-piece. Nigel de Jong and Sami Khedira are likely to be tasked with breaking down the play. Liverpool are now playing 3-4-1-2, or 4-2-3-1, with Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front and the likes of Steven Gerrard, Hernández Xavi, Jesus Navas and Frank Ribery providing the invention.

Quotes: Charlton midfielder Samir Nasri on the game: "We defeated Liverpool in our last meeting and I believe we can make another history."

-----------Liverpool midfielder Michael Essien: "You have to respect all teams in Division 2, whether it's Aston Villa, Stoke City or Crystal Palace, but at the -----------same time we also have to play our own game as well. We lost to Charlton early the season but we can get our revenge on Saturday.

Charlton team news: Eduardo da Silva looks likely to keep his place in the starting lineup. Alessandro Gamberini, last term's Charlton defender of the season, remain doubtful with fitness problem while Geraldo Wendel are ruled out with groin injury.

Liverpool team news: Liverpool could be without several key players for the match with Aleksandr Anyukov, Samuel Eto'o and Michael Essien are still working out on their full fitness. Anyukov could be rested after featuring against Stoke City, with Gianluca Zambrotta, who recently link with a move to AC Milan, his most likely replacement.

Probable Charlton line-up (4-4-2): Marco Amelia, Bacary Sagna, Micah Richards, Sebastian Puygrenier, Fernando Navarro, Marco Marchionni, Nigel de Jong, Sami Khedira, Samir Nasri, Radamel Falcao, Eduardo da Silva.

Probable Liverpool line-up (3-4-1-2): Pepe Reina, Gianluca Zambrotta, John Terry, Joan Capdevila, Jesús Navas, Hernández xavi, Michael Essien, Frank Ribery, Samuel Eto'o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Soccer Manager Times prediction: Liverpool are in good form and, Charlton, who defeated them in last meeting, are capable of causing them problems if things go their way, an away win seems the most likely outcome.

colchester.gifColchester United vs Rotherham UnitedRotherham%20logo.jpg

This fixture last time around ended with a 1 - 1 draw, which Colchester dominated away from home. It was the 3rd game of Dragovic carrer at the club which his star striker Nimani got sent off in. Colchester had 68% of the possesion but struggles to win the game. Both clubs since then have been playing exceptionaly well sitting in the top 6. Colchester are currently 3rd and Rotherham are 5th. A win for Colchester could bring them to 2nd place if Luton drop point to Rushden & Diamonds who are currently 10th. The same could be said for Rotherham if they can over come Colchester and hope for Luton and Rochdale to drop points. Dragovic will be relying on his main man Nimani to help his team through the tough game at home. The French man has scored 16 in 17 games. Colchester will have to watch out for Rotherhams Jon Pakin who has scored 7 goals in 21 matches but has also had 8 assitsinclude 7 man of the match awards. The livelycharacter will try and lift his team to victory. Other Rotherham stiker Neil Mellor will be missing due to a week supesion and Colchester will be missing due to a sprained ankle but he will be back next game.

Colchester%20United_2.JPG

Colchester fans after the win at Rochdale.

Colchesters Man to Watch: Ferderic Nimani. The striker has scored 3 in his last two games, as well as 16 for the season. He was roumored with a link away from th club but with the form he is on, people are doubting Dragovic will be wanting to sell him unless a huge offer comes in for the French men. He will be relying on the midfield to supply him including Mexican Jonothan Dos Santos who will be playing his second game for the club.

frederic-nimani-a-monaco-433998.jpg

Nimani

Rotherhams Man to Watch: Benoit Benvegnu. The French keeper hasnt kept a clean sheet in the last 5 games. As for Colchesters French keeper Jourdren who has kept 3 in the last 6. Benvegnu will have to perform to his best to stop other French man Nimani from scoring. He will also have to rely on his defence to prevent as many shot as possible from coming in.

gardien.jpg

Benvgnu

What Colchester Manager Daniel Dragovic has had to say: "This is an extremely important match for our side. We will have a full stadium and we will be hoping for a victory. People have been questioning us on the fact that we are relying on Nimani too much but i am here to prove them wrong if we keep winning. Out midfield have been doing great to make his chances and that was he is there for. We are hoping for three points and for Luton to drop points so we can move to second spot."

What Rotherham manager Andre Reid has had to say: "Our defence hasnt been the best latley which we will need to be relying on to stop the striking power of Colchester. We have a strong attack to create chances and finish them. Hopefully we can pick up a point or even a victory if we can. Our aim is to hit Colchester on the counter attack and now let them play there football and make us play the fantastic football we play. We have done well to get 5th and i am hoping to imporve on it.

Colchester Predicted Starting XI: Jourdren, Bonucci, N'Koulou, Rajkovic, Manolev, Pliatsikas, Fabricio, Gislason, Dos Santos, Nimani and Scotland.

Rotherham Predicted Starting XI: Benvegnu, Jones, Bertrand, Mawene, Collins, Mckenna, Sedgwick, Chaplow, Brown, Parkin and Wallace.

Sentanta Prediction: Colchester 2 : 1. Simply because i think Nimani and Scotland will exploit the Rotherham defence who struggle to keep clean sheets. Rotherhams only chance will be if they can prevent the front to from getting shots on.

BRENTFORD DECLARE INTEREST IN EDEN HAZARD

Brentford have today launched an official bid with Norwich City in pursuit of Belgian magician Eden Hazard. The 18 year old is subject to a bid from Tranmere Rovers which prompted Richardson to act quickly to try and do a deal.

Eden is a fantastic talent that I have been watching with great interest. When I heard Tranmere had put in a concrete bid I felt it would be stupid of us not to act. Eden is a top quality player espescially given his age. I think he is the future of the Belgian national team and if we manage to do this deal, he will be a massive signing for Brentford Football Club.

It is not known what the deal is from either club but Brentford sources claim it will blow Tranmere's bid out of the water. Rumour has it that the bee's value the deal they have proposed at £10m which is a clear warning to any other clubs interested that Brentford mean business.

England Victory (Almost) Silences Critics

Hero Owen Bags 3 On Return To Duty

Michael Owen scored 3 on his return to International football, to help give Sutcliffe and England their first win in the qualifiying campaign. It has been a long month for the squad, as they have struggled to slot into a system and gain any sort of momentum, but a victory against what were top of the table Ghana, will certainly ease some of the pressure, going into the final half of their games.

Hat-trick Owen got a standing ovation from the Wembley crowd

England 4-1 Ghana

On an evening where Frank Lampard sat on the subs bench, and Paul Scholes sat in the middle of Englands midfield for the first time since his International Retirement, neither of them could take the spotlight away from little Michael Owen, who with all his off field problems (Injuries, Club, Lack of games) came back to Wembley having settled in a new Arsenal home, whilst at the same time, relishing the chance to play football again on his first home, the grass that grows so fruitfully in Englands Capital. It was a dream come true...all over again.

The Ghanaians came out of the blocks quickly, but within 3 minutes, Owen had already had a shot on goal, curling his shot inches wide from just outside the box. When his 2nd touch in the game came, and the rustiness had worn, Owen was more than happy to take it, gaining possession thanks to a lovely Paul Scholes through ball, from which he shot extremely early, leaving the keeper stranded and unable to move. 1-0 England and some of the tension already relinquished from the youthful face of the bright England Manager.

Owen celebrates his first of three, his comeback goal

For 20 minutes Ghana began to press, without avail. David James was busy, but only chasing balls for goal kicks and offsides. He had little in the way of saving shots to deal with. So up stepped Owen again, to give Richard Kingson something to deal with. A superb foraging run, was capped off with a classy finish that sent Wembley into raptures. 2-0 and Owen was certainly back for good. In fairness of the African opposition, they showed signs of why they were top of the group, hitting both the crossbar and the post just before half time. Unfortunately, their luck was out. This was England's night, Sutcliffe's night. This was Owens night, and sucking on the half time oranges must have been bitter, because they knew it aswell.

essien-press.jpg

Essien was left scratching his head wondering quite what had hit his excellent side

The 2nd half seemed almost damaged limitation for Ghana. They went missing and offered little going forward, wanting the whistle to end. Little Michael Owen wasn't going to allow it, and confirmed that matchball was his on 54 minutes, breaking through a poor offside trap to finish smartly past Kingson. Joe Cole, back in the team began getting into the game more, and was very effective 2nd half, controlling the game and running things both out wide and through the middle. Another of those running this game, was Paul Scholes. The exiled midfielder had retired from International football, and looked set to end his career out in Turkey, after moving his family out there for a year, and playing well for Fenerbahce. However, Arsenal's 12m bid was accepted moments before kick off, and Scholes must have know his return to EC106 was imminent. So what better way, than to mark your International return to Wembley with a trademark headed goal, from a David Beckham cross.

becks&scholes.jpg

Just like old times: Beckham sets up Scholes for Englands 4th

Not even Ghana's consolation could spoil a fabulous evening for England's old guns who pulled it out the bag when it mattered. A stallwart performance from David Beckham, assured his Right Midfield place, whilst Scholes and Owen proved there is legs and life left yet, in the old heads that have graced English turf for over 15 years. Welcome back Michael, Paul and David. Welcome back Mr Sutcliffe. Welcome back England.

Grafite is Divisions best !!

325544410461764_206x261.jpg

11 goal Grafite

Millwall boss Dave Izod this morning paid tribute to Lions hitman Edinaldo Grafite , describing the 30 year old as ‘ The best in division 2’. Since arriving at the New Den in a shock 9 million pound move from Brighton and Hove Albion at the start of the season, Grafite has rapidly gained a reputation as a feared goal scorer and provider. Wednesdays 3 goal blast at Huddersfield made it 11 goals so far this season and the Brazilian finds himself joint second behind Palaces Andre Cignac in the prestigious division 2 golden boot competition. Speaking at an early morning pre match press conference Izod was glowing in his praise

‘ Ed has gone from strength to strength since he arrived here, its never easy to move up a level in EC106, and with the added pressure of goal scoring, its particularly difficult for a front man. Ed has come in and bridged that gulf with ease, and there’s an awful lot more to come from him. His eye for goal is second to none, and technically he is the best in the division , his physical magnificence is matched only by his creative skills and instinctive link up play. I have little doubt we are witnessing a 20+ goal haul this season and double that if you factor in his great record in making goals for the other lads. He will richly deserve the golden boot award of which I am certain he will collect at the end campaign. EC 106 is such a competitive league that to succeed a top class finisher is vital and we are blessed that alongside ED we also have Mauro and Loic who despite their relative young age who are both performing magnificently well. If you don’t possess that kind of depth you will struggle, I will be watching with interest how Emile Heskey performs over the next 3 weeks now that his partner Gignac is out of action. No disrespect to Emile, he is a great lad but I’m not sure if he can be termed a natural goals corer?, instead he represents a throw back to the earlier age of the lumbering big man, creating opportunities through bulk rather than skill and relying on an endless barrage of high balls.’

In what promises to be an enthralling game, the Lions entertain a dangerous Leeds United at the New Den tonight and a win for South Londoners could see them climb to joint third in the division. Following his dismissal against Huddersfield Askan Dejargh starts a 3 game suspension and will be replaced by the fit again Esteban Granero. Following their fine 1-0 victory over Charlton, Leeds sit 11th place separated from the Lions by just a measly 4 points. Boss Hanna Barker comes to the game missing the injured defensive pairing of Papastathopoulos and Meija and without the suspended Paolo Cannarvo.

International Rankings

The First International ranking for EC106 have been released with it still being early days for International football the rankings are very close with 5 teams level on 30pts those being Croatia,Czech Republic,France,Nigeria and Spain with all 5 of these teams so far maintaining a 100% record Both the Netherlands and Argentina are not far behind in 6th and 9th along with the more suprising Hungary and Colombia.

There are also several national sides that have so far been under performing the likes of Brazil (22nd) Germany (24th) Italy (26th) and by far the most Disapointing is England down in (40th) and no longer the No1 for the home nations with Scotland flying high in (18th) place and even Northern Ireland in (34th)

Monteith Pleased With Progress.

bclogo.jpg

Reserved Bradford City boss, Ryan Monteith, today expressed his joy at the clubs recent progress.

I'm not going to waffle on about how the club was in turmoil before i came, because it wasnt. Bradford were struggling financially, and still are, but we're looking for a new investor as i speak, but they had the outlines of a great team. With a little bit of tweaking, the players learnt to communicate and operate more as a team; thats showing on AND off the pitch. We have a mixed group of nationalities in the team, but thats a good thing. They've learnt to respect and embrace each others cultures and beliefs, its become almost like a family enviroment. Thats helped us play better on the pitch, so i didnt, and still dont, feel the need for drastic changes to the squad; unless something happens to make me think otherwise.

Bradford are still going strong in Division, and have proved themselves as real promotion candidates despite the backroom troubles. It emerged this week that City's new owners (having bought the club some two months back) have not coughed up what was promised when they originally took over. Doubts are being raised over the owners financial backing, as it turns out the players havent been payed for two weeks and neither has any of the staff. Funding to rid the club of its debts has failed to materialize, and a promised lump of transfer cash hasnt appeared either. In fact, it turns out the owners have visited the stadium and training grounds just once since the takeover and contact between the owners, chairmen and manager stopped just 1 week after the takeover! It is believed Ryan Monteith has contacted The FA over the matter, and is trying to force the sale of the club. Bradford City spokesman, Peter Kelman, released this statement earlier today:

There has been some confusion surrounding the matter of the owners, and their financial backing in the club. We can confirm the players and staff have not recieved any wages for the past 2 weeks, but the situation is under hand and they will recieve their pay before next Tuesday. We have approached The FA over the matter, and it is being looked into.

If The FA do not approve a forced sale of the club, or if a buyer doesn't step forward, then Bradford are looking at financial ruin with administration just around the corner. This could lead to a quick fire sale of all the clubs biggest assets, including star strikers Scott McDonald and Ricardo Oliviera and midfield ace, also captain, Luis Jimenez. Depending on the size of the debt, Bradford could well cease to exist by the end of the season. But this hasnt effected matters on the pitch, in fact it may well of helped! City moved upto 2nd place in midweek with a thunderous 5-1 win over Gillingham, and are looking strong for tonights match against Tranmere Rovers; with Boubacar Sanogo the only absentee via injury.

Monteith Laughs Off McDonald Offer

_44564241_scott_mcdonald_sns_220.jpg

After much speculation regarding Australian striker Scott McDonalds future, Bradford boss Ryan Monteith has openly slated an undisclosed offer from Tranmere Rovers. (Believed to be in the region of 11 million).

I was aware of Tranmere's interest in Scotty, and due to his unrest and our financial difficulties, i was prepared to listen to offers. But when they quoted me a price they were willing to pay, i actually wet myself a little in hysterics! Its a complete farce, i mean, you cant buy a striker of Scotty's ability anywhere in the world for an amount that low. I really expected more from Tranmere, and there manager. I thought he understood how the market is these days, everything and everyone is costing more. Agents and all the other middle-men cost more than the actual bloomin' player! How does he expect the club to replace Scotty AND pay off some of our debt with such an abysmal amount? Its ridiculous.

There were talks recently of a potential swap move for McDonald, as Monteith proposed this idea to Tranmere. Bafetembi Gomis was widely tipped in sweetening the McDonald deal and it edged ever closer to completion. Both players had even completed medicals at their new respective clubs, but, at the 11th hour, Rovers pulled out and sold Gomis, without his knowing or agreement, for 17 million to another 106 club. So its understandable that Monteith may be 'miffed' at Tranmere after all there antics, but that might not stop the McDonald deal from going ahead; as long as the right price comes in.

Pre Match Preview.

C_71_article_1126253_image_list_image_list_item_0_image.jpg

Tonight Chazza has alot of pressure on his shoulders as he manages his first home match this evening. Swansea play Doncaster Rovers who are currently top of Division 3 and are on a run of 3 wins in a row. Doncaster sit at the top of the table with 50 points, 4 points a-drift of second placed Bradford City. A win For Doncaster could take them 7 points ahead of second place. Manager Navin Legend said that despite Swansea City being the weaker side, he will still play a strong starting 11.

Swansea City's best player Nikola Kalinic is suspended so he will miss tonight's clash with Doncaster. Swansea City have confirmed 3 changes to the starting eleven that lost to Barnsley on Wednesday. Benado, Obertan and Busce all step up to the starting eleven.

Despite being in fourteenth place Chazza still has faith in his players and believes that if they play and give 100% they could beat anyone on their day.

McDonald ''Okay Player''

Scott_McDonald_Celtic.jpeg

Tranmere Boss Chewett today publicly slated Bradford City and there striker Scott McDonald. In a interview to the Soccermanager times Chewett had this to say ''Dont get me wrong I have the upmost respect for Bradford City, there a great club. Yet not as great as Tranmere, which I guess is partly why the Bradford manager doesn't like us. He said some mumbo jumbo about the proposed transfer of Scott McDonald, yes its true we made a bid, a very respectable bid at that for an ''okay'' player of McDonald calibere. I am however not happy with him publicly criticing this great club, so what goes around comes around. Yet after all this I do hope a deal can happen as we are in need of a striker with a proven goal scoring record to get us up the table.''

Preston NE v Birmingham City

Match Preview

Preston name two changes to the team that drew 1-1 with Derby County. Stevan Jovetic is recalled up front in place of Honorato Nilmar, and German winger Marko Marin gets a start on the wing in place of Aaron Lennon. Peter Crouch aims to hit the target for the third consecutive game, a personal record for the lanky striker. Leighton Baines has resumed full training, and takes Paulo Ferreira's place on the bench.

Birmingham will be forced into making at least two changes from their 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday, with Joseph Yobo suspended and Cristian Molinaro injured. Turk Mehmet Topal or Ledley King could capitalise on the Nigerian's absence, and Aleksandar Kolorov should slip into the Lb role vacated by Molinaro. Forward Marouane Chamakh is expected to leave the club in the near future, after he publicly voiced his concerns about his future, but may still make the subs bench tonight.

Crewe avenged their 6-5 home defeat with this dominating performance at the City Ground.

A Crewe side without 8 first choice starters(Elia, Bellamy, Douglas, Friedrich, Murphy, Zokora, Riise and Camozzato) were expected to struggle, but performed to a level the side has been missing most of the season.

New signing Riki excelled in his role as lone front man, and set up Elliot's favourite James Collins for a goal 7 minutes into the game, with a move that was only bettered by Croatian sensation Luka Modric with the run that saw him score his 80th minute 50 yarder.

Crewe will now change all 10 outfield players as they prepare for Mondays cup semifinal against a West Brom side that have won an amazing 16 out of their last 17 games, and have a 6 point lead at the top of division 1.
