Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Oxford Utd travelled to 4th placed Port Vale and once again defied the odds to take all three points in this encounter.

With Port Vale fielding such talents as Llorente (89), Drenthe (88) and Erding (88), it was hard to see how Oxford Utd were going to take anything from this match, but once again they applied the skills they have and used them to defeat a Port Vale side in yet another David and Goliath scenario.

In a fast, pulsating opening to the game, Van Der Gun nearly gave Oxford Utd a dream start only to see his effort agonizingly hit the side netting in the second minute.

The game was an end to end affair with both sides having good chances to open the score, but Oxford Utd coach David Belkevitz had adopted a 4-4-2 approach for this match and abandoned his normal 3-5-2 knowing that Port Vale were very strong up front, and what a switch. The Oxford defence stood strong and nullified the two pronged attack of the home side. HT 0-0

The second half opened with some lively play from both teams and the crowd of just under 7,000 were kept on their toes with some near misses at both ends.

Manuel Bruno China, who was making his debut after his transfer to replace Darel Russell, was inspiring as he dictated the midfield and added a touch of class to the Oxford Utd midfield area.

In the 66th minute, that man Santos Weldon was on target to put the visitors in front with a tremendous strike.0-1

The goal was the catalyst for Oxford Utd to take control of the game and efforts from Lodeiro, Van Der Gun and a late attempt from substitute Simplicio showed the power and tenacity of an Oxford Utd side completely in control. FT 0-1

Manager David Belkevitz spoke after the match saying, "Once again we defied the odds, I sent the guys out with a 4-4-2 system as I saw that Port Vale continually struggled against this formation and fortunately for us it was the right decision. As long as we can soak up the obvious pressure that teams throw at us, we are always dangerous with a man like Santos up front, this was his 13th goal from 25 starts, a great return for us and with all the others pulling their weight, we are no easy pushovers as we have proved time and time again."

This result moves Oxford Utd up into 11th spot in the league and although not mathematically secure, the threat of relegation has diminished greatly for the club.

Under-fire Falcao: I want to stay at Charlton

Under-fire striker Radamel Falcao has insisted that he wants to stay with Charlton Athletic, despite failing to find his best form this season. Falcao has been linked with a move to Cheltenham Town and Tranmere Rovers, however, the Colombia striker is not interested in move to the lower division clubs, stating he is keen to stay with Charlton.

"I want to stay at Charlton," he told The Soccer Manager Times. "I had my chances at the start of the season, but I was not good enough to take the most of them."

Falcao could find himself behind the likes of Eduardo da Silva and Danko Lazovic in Dean Bryant's pecking order if he fail to change his form. "There will be time to recuperate and I'm sure I will have my opportunity too," he concluded.

In other transfer news, Charlton are one step closer in signing young midfielder Clément Grenier from Lyon, after the official Soccer Manager newspaper reported that both clubs have come to an agreement of the deal believed to be around £650k of compensation. It is understood that Crewe Alexandra, Colchester United and West Ham United are also showing interest in the 18-year-old. Grenier is expected to complete his medical at South London club before finalising on the personal terms with the club.

Crewe capture more

Crewe today completed the captures of 3 more players, spending more of the money created by the recent sale of Elia, but also said goodbye to 2 of their Croatian contingent.

Keith Andrews

Irish international midfielder Keith was one of Crewe managers Sean's first signings back in season 7, however he was sold the following season as Crewe needed to raise funds.

Keith has constantly kept in touch with the lads at Crewe, and when it became clear that he was available, Crewe were straight in their competing with Northampton for the signature of 29 year old.

The deal saw Croatian forward Ahmad Sharbini go to Las Palmas as part of the deal.

George Friend

Left sided defender George Friend has signed for £300k from CSKA Moscow.

The 21 year old has signed a 4 year contract after impressing in an extended trial last week, impressing with some exceptional tackling in a closed door friendly with his former club CSKA.

Aleksander Bukharov

Russian international forward Aleksandr Yevgenyevich Bukharov(Александр Евгеньевич Бухаров) has signed for Crewe on a 5 year deal, with Croatian midfielder Nikola Pokrivac going the other way.

The exceptionally talented forward has hit 16 league goals in 22 games this season, and 30 in 59 games since signing for Rubin Kazan.

He will also bring some more Champions league experience to the club.

Millwall V Stoke City

The Blue corner of South London braces itself tonight, eagerly awaiting the visit from Millwalls promotion rivals Stoke City to the New Den. In what promises to be an enthralling encounter both teams have little option but to focus on the three points as the run in to the seasons conclusion beginnings in earnest. The Lions are rapidly being once more labelled as play-off Dark Horses, after a fine run of form the South Londoners have risen to third in the table over taking City and level on points with second placed London rivals Fulham. With the Cottagers facing an uncomfortable visit from Huddersfield, victory for the Wall could see them move into the automatic promotion spots and if Liverpool loose at basement boys Sheffield Wednesday, just one point off the top spot. With the crushing 4-2 home defeat to Charlton, Stoke dropped two places to 5th spot, as a season of promise teeters on the edge of disappointment. Respected manager Chris Haxo has seen his team act as pace setters so far this season enjoying a season long spot in either the automatic or play-off places. A dramatic reversal of fortunes has seen the Potters winless in 4 games now, dropping 10 points from a possible 12. A win tomorrow would see City right back in the thick of things, and with an easier run in then most in a prime spot to make a grab for the top two spots. In this seasons corresponding fixture the Potters came back to cancel out a Loic Remy opener with a match winning two goal blast from Belluschi and Hamdaoui.

Lions boss Dave Izod makes one enforced change for the game with a return for Jan Simunek in place of Italian defender Dario ( the Roman ) Dainelli who is missing for up to 7 days with a fearsome head injury sustained in the midweek win at Watford. With the Lions expected to once more adopt the successful 5-3-2 set-up Izod finds himself with somewhat of an embarrassment of attacking riches. ED Grafitte is sure to return after being rested in the midweek game and it remains unclear whether Izod will prefer the physical presence of Boselli over the inform Loic Remy as the Brazilians partner up in crime. Stoke come to the game with no absences other than Newcastle Loanee Fernando Meira who is effectively out of the campaign with a broken collar bone. One Stoke player sure to get a good reception from the sporting Lions fans is Brede Hangeland, who makes his first appearance at the New Den since his transfer earlier this season. Speaking from the building site that was once his home, Lions boss Dave Izod was quick to pay tribute to his visiting rival

I have never made a secret of my admiration for Chris or the way he goes about his business. Stoke have been excellent all season and present us with an enormous task. After achieving safety against Watford, victory tomorrow night is key to our ambitions for the rest of the campaign. In fairness it’s a game they perhaps need to win more than us so for 90minutes both myself and Chris will put our friendship aside and go for the result. Needless to say after the game we will enjoy a sarsaparilla or two and our usual bowl of jellied eels

Haxo’s favourite Jellied eels with plenty of salt and pepper Yum!

As the Season enters its final 10 games, elsewhere this weekend promises to be an action packed feast of EC106 entertaiment. Heres the South London Press's peek at some of the set-ups key games.

West Brownish Albion - Darlington

At the top of the shop, league leaders West Bromwich Albion will look to cement their position at the head of the league in a nail biting encounter against 2cnd placed Darlington. Newly promoted Albion have taken the top tier by storm this season and go to the game on a fantastic unbeaten 12 game run which has seen them progress to the English cup final where they will face Coventry City. Key to the Baggies success has been the sparkling form of 16 goal front man Klass Jan Huntelaar as Colm Griffin’s team look to

open up a 6 point lead at the top of division 1.

Darlington remain one of 106 powerhouse’s, superbly managed by Michael Flounders MBE who after an amazing 9 seasons at the Darlington Arena has not only built one of the leagues most formidable squads, but whose ongoing generous loan policy has provided lower league clubs with a life line to quality players. Patchy mid season form has given way to a winning streak of 4 games, the last of which was the mid week 3-0 victory over Wigan. Both teams come to the games with notable absences, West Brom Totti remains out to the end of the season and Darlington are without the suspended duo of German Villa and Carlos Salcido whilst the superb Alexandre Pato is out of contention for up to 7 weeks with a broken hand.

SLP Prediction

West Brom 1 Darlington 2

Div 2

Charlton - Crystal Palace

After a tough series of games against promotion rivals, Charlton’s indifferent form of late has seen them slip out of the play-off spots and down to 10th place. Nevertheless such is the close nature of division 2 a win could propel them back into 6th spot. The Variants did their cause a world of good with a vital midweek win at Stoke, the only downside of which was the sending off of Samir Nasri, which robs manager Dean Bryant of the 22 year old for 3 of the seasons last 10 games. Highly rated Bryant goes to the game seeking revenge for the 2-0 defeat in the corresponding away fixture and the highly inflammatory remarks made by a gloating Paul Holt to the media after the match.

Often over shadowed by the high profile stupidity of their controversial manager Paul Holt, 4th placed Palace have had an excellent campaign by any ones standards. Occupying the top six for most of the season , Palaces powerful squad have solved the consistency problems that dogged last seasons miserable campaign. The Free scoring Eagles are second only to Cardiff in the amount of goals scored, with lumbering centre forward Emile Heskey proving to be an absolute steal after returning 12 goals since joining the South London club from Preston Northend. Palace fans will be praying that the bear like ox that is Heskey can continue his rich vein of form after injuries to Cignac and Karadeniz sees the Eagles make the short flight across South London without two of their most impressive performers.

SLP Prediction

Charlton 2 Palace 2

Aston Villa- Cardiff

Financial giants and with a team full of highly talented players, relegated Villa looked all set to be one of the team to beat in division 2. And after starting the season with a fine run of results, the Villains soon climbed to the automatic promotion places. Sadly the honeymoon period only lasted until the mid season point when a awful drop in form has seen Villa falling quicker than the pound and languishing in 9th. The comprehensive mid week defeat at Boro leaves the midlanders in desperate need of a victory to kick start their attack on the summit of a division that manager Dan Woodgate once described as ‘easy and theirs for the taking’. With the largely disappointing Robin Van Perse out for the rest of the campaign with a torn hamstring, the Villa faithful will once more look to top scorer Antonio Di Natale to provide the goals for a much needed win.

The smaller of the three relegated first division clubs, Cardiff nevertheless promised to be a daunting proposition for the division 2 managers. Rocked by the surprise departure of manager Chazza Bones, the bluebirds have successfully adapted to the hurly burly of 2cnd tier football. New Man in charge Rafel Benitez has over seen the transformation in Cardiff’s fortunes, occupying the top six for most of the season with a team noted for its attacking football and excellent goal scoring record. That said after a shock defeat at the hands of relegation haunted Carlisle the Welshman find themselves in somewhat of a lull in form, and out of the play-offs places in 7th spot.Benitez will wait for the results of late fitness tests on new signings Requelme and Asamoah before deciding to name his team from his otherwise fit squad.

SLP Prediction

Aston Villa 0 Cardiff 3

Div 3

Leicester city - Bradford city

Eager to bounce back from last seasons humiliating relegation Leicester have come to fore of late enjoying a solid run of results, the latest of which a 5-3 victory over Nottingham Forest could be considered as their finest in manager Jake Malinders 24 game tenure at the Walkers stadium. Built on a bedrock of seasoned professionals and exciting younger players City are fast shaping up as dark foxes for promotion and a victory at the weekend could indeed see them as high as 4th place just out of reach of the automatic promotion places.

Widely fancied in many South London betting shops as title favourites Bradford find themselves top of the pile after the crucial midweek victory of over promotion rivals Barnsley. Manager Ryan Monieth has proved himself a shrewd loan operator and the addition of Arsenals Carlos Vela, has seen a dramatic improvement of ammunition for successful front men Olivera and McDonald. Looking to increase their lead over Notts County to points rather than goals, Bradford make the journey to the midlands actively seeking to take advantage of a potential County slip up at QPR.

SLP Prediction

Leicester City 1 Bradford City 2

Barnsley- Doncaster Rovers

Despite a strong season, failures in the next two fixtures against first Rovers then Brighton and Hove Albion, may see the Yorkshire men in danger of dropping out of the top six. Johan Albert’s first class squad go to the game with a justified faith in their own abilities. Strongly packed with talent in all departments, Barnsley on their day are more than a match for any outside the top two divisions. The home faithful will once more look to goals from exciting South American trio Raffel, Gonzalez and Buonanotte to add to their seasons collective haul of 25 strikes.

Like their Yorkshire hosts, Navin Legends well managed Doncaster Rovers are another team who have enjoyed a successful season thus far. Falling to third place the one time league leaders, have gained a reputation for high quality performances, but nevertheless find themselves in a steep nose dive after a poor run of 4 games has seen them drop 10 points. Rovers go to the game without Riberio Cleiton Xavier with horrifically gashed leg he sustained at Gillingham keeping the young Brazilian out for up to another 3 weeks.

SLP Prediction

Barnsley 2 Doncaster Rovers 0

Division 4

Brentford- Rochdale

A resurgent Brentford look like a team in the ascendancy as they have risen from mid -table obscurity to just 2 points outside the prized play-off zone. With boss Darren Richardson determined to shake off the label of promotion choker, the Bees come to the game on a magnificent run of nine games without defeat and fresh from Thursdays morale boosting friendly 1-0 win over division two’s Cardiff City. Already unavailable for the Bees, hamstring victim Adrian Colunga has today been ruled out until the end of the season.

Superbly managed by boy Genius and England manager Elliot Sutcliffe, the Dale have enjoyed a transformation this season, from a humble coronation street club to a beacon of young talent and astute managerial ability. More than out punching their weight spirited Rochdale have become one of the divisions most feared line-ups. After seemingly loosing the title battle to Shorpe, 2cnd placed Rochdale come to the game clinging to a slender one point advantage over a dangerous looking Colchester. The England boss cannot tolerate anything less than a win in the capital and makes the journey South with a full squad at his disposal.

SLP Prediction

Brentford 2 Rochdale 0

I'll add the Millwall / Stoke preview to this a bit later ( i forgot :o)

Croatia 3-1 Japan

Croatia's qualification for the World Cup has not halted their rampage in Group 12. Japan came looking for revenge for their defeat in the reverse fixture but Leko's superb 3 goal performance proved to be decisive. Croatia thoroughly deserved their win and no doubt Bradford City, Leyton Orient, Southend United and Crewe Alexandra will be interested to see the Monaco midfielders performance.

It's nice to see there is still motivation and will to win even though we have already qualified a long time ago. We are fighting to try and stay in first place and qualify from the group as winners. Cameroon are pushing us all the way with their 2-1 win tonight but we can pretty much end it with another good performance against them next time out. I feel we have shown the rest of the world that we are a good side that can pass the ball and play some nice stuff. I read an article not so long ago that put us as joint favourites to win the World Cup. This is very nice to know that people think of us in that light, I think it may be a tad unrealistic to put us as favourites but we shall see who we draw then decide from there. You just never know in these tournaments, just look at Greece in Euro 2004.

Irish defensive midfielder Marc Wilson is today at Gresty Road discussing personal terms on a deal to join the Crewe Revolution.

The former Manchester United youngster joined Portsmouth aged 17 but, was considered as not good enough, and was never registered by the club upon the formation of the EC106 super league.

Despite the set back he has spent 9 seasons working hard, and this finally payed of when Crewe and Huddersfied both made moves to sign him this week.

After opting to sign for the division 3 side, the future looks bright for the young lad.

Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Who is not going to the World Cup?

Group 1

The Ivory Coast are yet to get off the mark, with zero points after 5 games. We wont be seeing Emmanuel Eboue and Didier Drogba at the World Cup. Finland will need a miracle to qualify, they are six points from qualification with two games left, with a worse goal difference than second-placed Poland.

Group 2

Group 2 is very open, with all the nations still with a chance of qualification. Bottom placed Montenegro face an uphill struggle, but a 2-0 win over fellow strugglers Northern Ireland may have kick-started their campaign with three games to play. The big shock has to be Italy's faltering campaign, the reigning World Champions currently second, a point behind the Ukraine having played a game more.

Group 3

Group 3 is also very open, with Wales's comprehensive win over Mali throwing the group wide open. Top of the table Brazil are only separated by three points from fourth placed Sweden, who are only two points ahead of basement nation Iceland. With hardly any difference in goal difference, this group could go down to the wire.

Group 4

Argentina are unbeaten in qualification, with five wins and a draw to lead the group on 16 points. Cyprus and Australia will both miss the World Cup, with South Korea also on the verge of failing to qualify. This group is settled with a few weeks left.

Group 5

This group is almost settled, with France and Greece almost certain of qualification. Canada, Bulgaria and Algeria look set to miss out, with Bulgaria the most likely to challenge the top two.

Group 6

What looked to be an easy group for England did look like a nightmare at the half-way stage, but the re-introduction of Michael Owen has given the Three Lions a new lease of life. Saudi Arabia look set to miss out, with Ghana, Paraguay and England all level at the top with nine points. England are not in action next week, allowing Ghana and Paraguay to stretch their lead at the top.

Group 7

Group 7 is tight, with Switzerland and Morocco battling it out for the second qualification spot. Holland look safe, and Lithuania are definitely not going to be on the plane to the World Cup.

Group 8

Group 8 looked like an easy group for Portugal, but a few shocks has shaken up the group, with minnows Peru ahead of Romania and Belarus. Bolivia still have a mathematical chance of qualification, but the odds are small.

Group 9

Group 9 is a big shock! Colombia lead the way with Germany on level points with Ecuador and Moldova in second place, but the Germans have played one game less. Colombia are one win away from guaranteeing top spot, but play Germany next.

Group 10

Scotland are in pole position to win Group 10, despite not being in action this week. Russia's narrow win over Norway looks to have condemned the Norwegians to World Cup failure. Albania and Jamaica make up the rest of the group, but qualification for any of these nations looks unlikely.

Group 11

The Czech Republic have ran away with this group, with Slovakia and Denmark battling it out for the one remaining place. Iraq and Slovenia look increasingly likely to not qualify, especially as the Iraqi's may be disqualified for dissolving the country's Football Association.

Group 12

Croatia are still to lose in Group 12, and with Cameroon only three points behind, this group is settled. Latvia, Japan and Guinea cannot qualify, end of.

Group 13

The number 13 may be unlucky for some, but not even Irish luck could counteract it. The Irish were drawn together with Austria and Turkey, who have taken control of the group. The Irish still have a chance of qualifying in 2nd, but Austria look on track to win the group. China cannot qualify, Tunisia look to follow them out of the competition.

Group 14

The USA have underachieved in Group 14, what looked an easy group has backfired, leaving the Americans fighting to keep up with Serbia and Chile. Estonia are breathing down the back of the Yankee's necks, but Macedonia prop up the group, and unless a miracle happens, wont be at the World Cup.

Group 15

An all-African duo top Group 14, with Nigeria and Egypt leading the way. Iran are their nearest challengers but Uruguay and Trindad and Tobago are in dire straights, and the first ever winners of the World Cup may not even qualify for this one.

Group 16

Group 16 was seen as a mixed bag, with sleeping giants Mexico up against Hungary, Senegal, Malta and South Africa, all notions perhaps not expecting to qulaify before the groups were drawn. Hungary have punched above their weight, with Malta living up to all expectations, one point from fifteen.

Turkish manager David Belkevitz took his unbeaten run to four games after Turkey lost their opening World Cup Match to Tunisia 2-1 at home. Since he has been installed as national manager, Turkey remain unbeaten and now find themselves in second place behind Austria in Group 13, after beating The Austrians 3-2 in Vienna last month, things are looking good for Turkey who face China in the next match.

A beautiful strike in the 9th minute by Hamit Altintop was enough to settle this affair and strengthen the Turks chances of qualifying.

Young Yildrim was given a run out as substitute and impressed the Turkey manager who was given some advice about the boys ability with his home club Gillingham.

Preston v Leeds Utd

'War of the Roses'

Match Preview

Preston go into tonights match with Leeds knowing that the whole of Lancashire is behind them as they face Yorkshire's Leeds United.

Preston make three changes to the team that lost 2-1 to Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium on Wednesday. Honorato Nilmar makes way for Stevan Jovetic, Paulo Ferreira is recalled in defence to replace the tired Glen Johnson, and German winger Marko Marin replaces Ashley Young. There is no place in the side for £20m signing Eljero Elia. Top scorer Peter Crouch continues up front, the England forward hitting the 10 barrier for the first time in three seasons. Defender Aaron Hughes returned from his loan spell at Cardiff early with an injury, and wont play again this season.

Leeds will hope to build on an impressive 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, but they'll have to do it without Aleksandr Kerzakhov, the Russian striker bruised a rib in training and wont be fit to start tonight. It is expected that Spaniard Javier Arizmendi will cover for him. Defensive duo Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Edgar Mejia remain out, so Paolo Cannavaro and Ruano Alexis partner each other in defence. Former Preston winger Shaun Wright-Phillips will look to add to his three goals this season.

Collison: "I want to join Preston"

In an interview to a leading newspaper, West Ham and Welsh international midfielder Jack Collison has been quoted as saying he wants to join Preston North End.

Preston are managed by Wales boss James Burrow, although the young manager does share his international duties with Ryan Giggs and Gary Speed. West Ham are currently rock bottom of Division 1, with 25 points and no win in six. Collison, widely tipped to be Wales captain in the future, has only three starts in four years for West Ham. His international career stats make for better reading, four starts, one goal, against Brazil.

"I feel as if Im stagnating at West Ham. If I want to be a regular in the Wales setup, I need to be playing first team football. The coach said in his opening press conference that he would only pick those players playing for English clubs, and I understand it that 'playing' doesnt mean 'sit in the reserves.' Last match we lost 4-1 to our nearest rivals Manchester United, and were totally bossed out of the park, yet the manager defies his critcis by not playing our best player Fabregas, or giving me a chance. Whereas Preston, despite being a rung down the English league, they play good football, and have publically announced that they need a new midfielder. Obviously I am contractually tied to West Ham, so I will remain here for the time being."

Oxford Utd took on bottom of the table Yeovil Town, who are destined to life in the 4th Division next season and although the score suggests that this was a stroll in the park for Oxford Utd, Yeovil Town played with endeavour and passion and matched the home side stride for stride in an entertaining match in front of just over 4.500 spectators.

Koutsianikoulis put Oxford Utd in front in the 27th minute with a superb piece of football that gave the Yeovil keeper no chance.1-0

After the break, Nicolas Lodeiro eased the tensions of the home fans when he thundered home the second goal in the 50th minute to make it 2-0.

A spectacular long range shot from on loan centre back Gastaldello in the 75th minute finished off a spirited fight by Yeovil Town. 3-0

Yeovil pulled one back through Sacramento in the 79th minute but by then the game was long gone and Oxford Utd notched up another well earned victory. FT 3-1.

Oxford Utd manager David Belkevitz was in jubilant mood after the game and said, " This was another job well done and I'm really pleased that we don't have to rely too heavily on Weldon up front to score our goals. As seen today, we are creating chances for all the players to have a pop and I'm very pleased with the way things are going. We have a very tough away fixture up at Crewe on Wednesday so it's back to the drawing board to draw up our battle plans against a very good Crewe side."

The Croatian Sensation got a double as Crewe's inconsistant season continued. New signing Steven Pienaar played a neat ball to Luka Modric in the 28th minute, who whipped past the Hull defence to chip keeper Helton for one of the goals of the season. Hull rallied back and Alexis Sanchez thundered home a 33rd minute header to put the sides in level at half time.

Johan Elmander found space in the 63rd minute and blasted a peach of a shot past Carrasso to put Hull in front, and all of a sudden the home fans found their voices, and urged their side on to hit a 3rd. However Crewe, and in particular Modric, had other ideas, and just 2 minutes later, he dispossesed Ayala, dummied the keeper, and had his second goal of the season contender. From there Crewe never looked back, and it was inevitable that when Riise found his golfing buddy Bellamy with an outstanding 85th minute pass, the Welshman skipped past 2 defenders, gave the away fans a wave, and slotted the ball past the keeper for the match winner.

Carlos Orlando Sa up for sale

Dragovic today said that he would be willing to sell Orando Sa for a good price. The forward has done exceptionally well scoring 13 goals from 14 games including 14 assits! Dragovic said "He is a great player who has taken me by suprise how well he has been playing considering he is only young and isnt rated as highly as other strikers in the league. I would love to hold onto him but because i have a tight balance which i am working on which means i need to sell someone". Dragovic mentioned that he will be willing to listen to all offers and wouldnt mind including him in a swap deal for someone.

Sutcliffe: Ref Got It Totally Wrong

Rochdale speaks out on Delph red card

Referee Benito Armando Archundia sent off Fabian Delph when Dale were 2-0 down

Sutcliffe Said:

It's a shocking decision. I have no qualms about the first booking. Fabian was late and he deserved a yellow, even though it was in the first 10 minutes or so, however his 2nd yellow card was absoloutely absurd and I am truly angered that he must now miss 3 games because of it. The incident happened just after we had conceded the 2nd goal, and Delphy was hurrying around trying to collect the ball. Then from no where, as he was trying to take a free-kick, the referee brandished a 2nd yellow for what he later described as time wasting. Why would our lads be bloody timewasting when we have 10 minutes to score twice?? It's ludicrous refereeing and he needs to be banned from EC106. This is not the first time we have been undone by poor officials, but now we miss our main Central Midfielder going into the final 9 games. Why should he miss a 3rd of our final games for rubbish like this. I'm absoloutely outraged and I feel like going to the SMFA and punching these guys in the face. The fact we can't appeal makes me so angry. Fabian does not deserve this, and neither does the football club. We didn't deserve to win the game on Saturday, but we didn't deserve to be robbed of a top player because some stupid Mexican can't admit he was totally wrong. It needs to be sorted. I'm absoloutely livid.

Fabian Delph now misses 3 games of a final 9

Charlton insist Radamel Falcao is not for sale

Radamel Falcao: Charlton's key player

Charlton Athletic have no plans to sell Radamel Falcao despite several clubs having expressed an interest in the Colombia international. Tranmere Rovers have previously been linked with the 23-year-old striker, who is under contract until end of Season 14. Falcao has bagged eight goals in 26 league appearances for Charlton this season.

"Falcao is a great player and it's logical that many clubs are interested in him," Charlton manager Dean Bryant told The Soccer Manager Times. "Falcao is also an exceptional person. Our position is that of giving continuity to our technical project, so we do not want to enter talks to discuss Falcao's eventual departure. We have sold many of our star stikers like Nilmar and Bent. We do not want the same thing to happen to Falcao."
