IZOD APPEALS FOR PEACEFUL END TO HILTON SAGA

paris-hilton-1.jpg?t=1297953832

A Family at war...Elliot, JC and Paris Hilton

co1069-856-crop_normal.jpgNeville Chamberlain Writes.....Hull boss Dave Izod today took a break from the rigours of the Tigers successful promotion drive to pen a heart warming open letter to high profile estranged couple Elliot and Paris Hilton urging a civilized end to their brief but stormy year long marriage. The couple have been subject to a media frenzy of late after the abandoned Paris stunned the so -called Rochdale playboy by launching divorce proceedings at a Hull magistrates court. In the press firestorm that has followed both parties have become increasingly entrenched with bitter stories of extra marital affairs, name calling and financial deprivation. Backed by powerful allies in Dale owner Rossilina Sensi and the Hull based SE8 MEDIA group, next weeks court hearing is shaping up to be a bitter powder-keg of spiteful revelations and damning recriminations. Despite the stage being set for an inevitable media blood bath, its perhaps not too late to turn back from the abyss as the hugely respected Izod wrote….

My dearest Elliot and Paris…

There is none that is more saddened by the unfortunate and unforeseen breakdown of first your relationship and subsequently your marriage. I clearly remember those heady days when against all odds your undoubted love for each other lit up the wider community and despite many obstacles you showed us all how love will always find a way. It has always been my honour to have been able to look upon you both as the children my prolapsed rectum mean’t that I could never have, and accordingly despite any bitter words, I have always had your interests and well being at heart. So after talking to you both I share your pain that there is obviously no way back for you as a couple and I suppose at the end of the day once love has left, there is no turning back. With that in mind it is now time for you to dispel any bitterness in your hearts and face that break up with dignity and with the best interests of your beautiful son JC at the forefront of your minds. All children are damaged by divorce , that is the price you must pay but the impact can be managed and the blow made softer. I call upon you both to bear this in mind and seek a quick and civilized annulment to your marriage, JC must never read the gaudy details in the newspapers, or face the taunts of his playmates. Instead he must grow up knowing that despite your differences and inability to to remain as a couple you both treasure him and have his interests 100% at heart. I plead with you Paris to lessen the grounds for divorce and stop the newspaper stories about Elliot they cause nothing but pain, and Elliot accept your role in the break-up. The divorce will be granted what ever you say about each other, and I ask you, do you need to say what the papers want to hear?. For your dignity and for JC’s future happiness act like the reasonable, adult human beings that you are and agree to a quick, clean divorce due to irreconcilable differences ….

Daves predictions…Its hats well and truly off to Barnsley and their dogged manager Johan Alberts and despite a tricky looking run -in I fully expect them to be crowned champions ahead of QPR in second. The play-offs look equally sown up with only the 6th place up for grabs. Despite Gillingham currently holding a 2 point cushion on Bristol Rovers and Rochdale its still far from decided. The Gills meet Dale at the weekend in a game I expect to see end as a draw, whilst a good result for Bristol Rovers at Norwich and we could well see the Westerners and their superior goal difference nicking the final play-off spot.

3 Rotherham United

Nicks prediction……Along with Carlisle I don’t see anyway back for Swansea as they barely cling on to survival with a 10 point gap between them and safety. So once more it’s the third spot which generates the interest and the desperate battle between Bolton Wanderers and Port Vale. Both teams form could not be further ends of the spectrum , with Vale losing their last three games whilst Bolton have won theirs. Coupled with a much kinder run in surely if Wanderers hold their nerve then thet will at least conclude a hugely disappointing campaign with the consolation of division 3 football at the Reebok next season

18 Walsall -15 38 (50)

19 Rushden & Diamonds -24 24 (36)

20 AFC Bournemouth -63 20 (32)

Daves predictions…Well Bermondsey’s finest promised promotion and it looks like he has got it. A magnificent run of wins sees Hull in pole position with perhaps only a win in the weekends big game at Northampton separating them from the title. Despite only a three point difference Hartlepool have lost all direction of late but still have enough in the locker to grab the second berth. The play-offs on the other hand are a much closer run affair with perhaps 4th, 5th and 6th spot far from certain. I expect a late charge to come from someone and my gut goes with Yeovil beating Swindon by a nose to a 6th place finish.

Sharp strike seals the points for Grimsby

Grimsby Town 2 vs 1 Rushden & Diamonds match review

dicksonetuhufulhamvwest.jpg

New Grimsby signing Dickson Etuhu took his place on the bench

A dramatic late goal from Billy Sharp in the 88th minute was just the tonic for Grimsby as they came from behind to collect all three points against a spirited Rushden side.

Grimsby manager Steve Thompson made one change to the starting lineup from the one that drew with Swindon young American striker Jozy Altidore was preferred in attack to top scorer Javier Hernandez with the Mexican having to be contempt with a place on the bench. Also on the bench was new signing Dickson Etuhu the Nigerian international signed from Barcelona on earlier in the day and was thrown straight into the squad.

Both teams started the game brightly creating a number of chances but both goalkeepers were in inspired form and were equal to everything that both attackers threw at them. The first goal came on 26 minutes and it went the way of the away side courtesy of a penalty. Jérémie ALIADIERE scored his first goal for Rushden after he was fouled in the box to make it 0-1. The first half continued at a frenzied pace but at half time it remained 0-1.

franciscorodriguezsouth.jpg

Francisco Rodriguez scored to get Grimsby level

The second half was a much more tentative affair and with time running out for Grimsby Thompson made three changes on 75 minutes on came new boy Dickson Etuhu along with Javier Hernandez and Billy Sharp to replace Anthony Le Tallac,Andy Johnson and Jozy Altidore and those changes proved pivotal as just a minute later Grimsby drew level. Débutante Etuhu laid on a fantastic ball for Francisco RODRIGUEZ who dummied the keeper before placing the ball into an empty net 1-1.

billysharpdoncasterrove.jpg

Billy Sharp scored a dramatic late winner for the Mariners

The match looked to be heading for a stalemate until the 88th minute when two of Grimsby's substitutes combined. Javier Hernandez produced a wonderful piece of skill to beat to get clear of the Rushden defense before sliding a delightful ball to fellow sub Billy SHARP who made no mistake hitting a fierce shot which smacked the post before nestling into the back of the net to hand Grimsby a dramatic late win 2-1.

Mariners manager Steve Thompson was understandably delighted at the end of the game.

" What a way to finish the game! I have to say i am delighted with the character the lads have shown to come from behind and win. A few weeks ago we could have let our heads drop going behind and gone on to lose the game by 2 or 3 but i have seen a desire just recently to keep fighting right till the end and i hope that we maintain that.

I thought Dickson did well on his debut he got himself an assist and i couldn't have asked any more from him really. Billy has got 2 in 2 now and i know he has got plenty of goals in him. Having Billy gives me some hope for when Javier returns to Tranmere next season he is a born goal scorer and i feel he is more than capable of getting the same amount of goals that Javier has probably even more.

We have Brentford next in the league and that is a extremely difficult game. They are currently right in the mix for the playoffs and with it being tight up there they will see us as a must win fixture.

Daz knows me well though and he knows my team will be going there determined to cause an upset. We want to finish as high up the table as we can and build some confidence going into the next season so a nice little unbeaten run between now and the end of the season will do wonders for confidence"

IZOD DAMPENS HULL TITLE FRENZY

Quentin%2003.jpg

Cautious Hull boss Dave Izod

50233_159620640723154_5284_q.jpgHarold Ballard Writes....Hull boss Dave Izod went on the record today to dismiss talk of Hull winning the divison 4 title and insisting that it is far from decided, and that automatic promotion albeit as runner-up remains City’s main objective. With just 4 games of the season left City sit proudly at the top of division 4 after a blistering run of results has seen them loose just once in 18 league games. With just three point separating City and second placed Hartlepool, the Tigers face a tricky away trip to third placed Northampton this evening. Speaking from the team bus this morning Izod declared…..

…Despite being in an excellent position there is still much to be decided and first and foremost its vital we remain focussed on promotion, our pre-season target was the play-offs and I am delighted to say we have exceeded that. Escaping the fourth division is of paramount importance to the club, without sounding conceited we are far to big to be facing the likes of Oxford and Grimsby week in week out. I have spoken to the lads this morning to remind them of that ahead of tonight's game at Sixfields. Despite them falling off the pace of late,we have a tough task this evening against Northampton, Dan Tomlins is proving to be an excellent young manager and I have no-doubt that he will go far either at Sixfields or at a bigger club when the opportunity arises. And of course we cannot discount Hartlepool, Pat Coll is another young man who continues to impress me, he has done magnificently well with a limited squad and slender resources.I am certain they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. That said our destiny is in our own hands and with just 12 points left and an 11 point lead, the pressure is on Northampton this evening to get a win, we are perhaps just one point away from promotion, so I am happy to settle for a draw tonight and we will worry about the title next week….

The season’s end could perhaps not come sooner for Hull as they find themselves in some what of an injury crises, as they make the journey without first teamers Ashley Young, Steffen Hoffman, Christian Fuchs and now defensive lynchpin Miguel Flano. Despite picking up young Turk Burak Yilmaz from Trabzonbur, the notoriously cautious Izod is expected to stick with the same 5-3-2 line-up that picked up a hard fought point at home to Forrest earlier this week. Northampton come to the game with no such injury worries but without key midfielder Aaron Ramsey with the on loan 20 year old , suspended after the sending off in the 2-1 defeat at Yeovil on Wednesday night. Elsewhere in Hull, chairman and SE8 MEDIA supremo and respected international arts patron Mr Francis Fraser reacted angrily to recent criticism in the gutter press by Grimsby’s director of public relations Karen ‘ Mutton’ Brady. With Fraser embroiled in the bitter Hilton erses Hilton divorce saga , Obese moter-mouth launched a spiteful sneak attack on both Izod and SE8 MEDIA. The unprovoked attack was littered with unfounded libellous lies including the ridiculous claim that…..

The real reason that they continue to try and bring me down is because i rejected Mr Frazer's (Hull City's Chairman) Advances. I remember him sending me an email sometime ago now asking if i would be interested in a Ménage à trois with Mr Frazer and Hull City manager Jimmy Winston i was utterly disgusted by the proposition and immediately declined.

Phil%20Brown%202.jpg

Grimsby boss Steve 'Dim' Thompson chats with Karen Brady

Speaking from SE8 MEDIA HQ in Hull town center this morning a clearly livid Fraser blasted both Brady and Grimsby boss Steve ‘Dim‘ Thompson with a withering broadside …..

After being chased out of that diseased dump Rochdale, I wondered how long it would be before that sour faced old chunter surfaced again, and it was no surprise to see she turned up at another craphole like Grimsby. Her attack on both myself and Izod was completely unprovoked and equally completely in character for that old tatty witch. Like that perma-tanned loser Thompson, she has found her natural level at Blundell park, it’s a club destined to go nowhere and achieve nothing. Fair enough Its widely known that Thompson is a bit thick but how he can bring himself to goose that old mutt is beyond both taste and reason. Likewise the thought of me propositioning her is both physically repellent and God help us, designed purely to place her warty old boat race back on the front page of the newspapers. Let me assure you the closest thing Mutton will ever get to a threesome with anyone is with a tube of KY jelly and a cucumber. Mind you on second thoughts she would be better served to make that a marrow…

The Good. The Bad. And The Ugly (But What A Player)

A Mixed Week For Elliot Hilton

The Good

speidi-picture.jpg

Heidi Montag moved in with Elliot this week (above)

Heidi Montag, long term girlfriend of the Rochdale manager Elliot Hilton, has finally moved in with the 18 year old. The American has spent the majority of her time over in England but has been flying back and forth to see her family and friends back in America. However, this week she finally packed her bags and agreed to move to England for good, suggesting things are getting very serious between her and her young lover. Montag has lived a full life already, and still only 24, seems keen to start the next chapter in Manchester. Montag, who quite remarkably shares the same birthday as Elliot, and his son Jay Champion, is keen to settle down and is hopeful that her and Elliot can gain custody of baby Jay, in a drawn out legal battle which could end in divorce for the Hilton's. Paris currently looks after Jay fulltime, but having lived with The Beckham's for a while, she is now sharing a house with Mathiu Debuchy near Hull. Rosella Sensi is ready to argue that this is not a suitable home for Jay Champion, whereas a family in Manchester is more appropriate. September 15th would be a very hectic day if the legal battle were to be won, with the trio sharing their birthday's and looking to the future. Heidi Montag, is certainly here to stay.

The Bad

paris_hilton.jpg

Paris Hilton celebrated her 30th birthday on Thursday (above)

Turning 30 is a milestone for anyone, but for Paris, it is quite a depressing fate. She has been replaced by her husband for another, younger, American socialite. She has moved from one temporary footballer's home to another. She has a child to look after, plus, well she's left her 20's. Having hired SE8 Media to sort out a quick ended to her very public legal battle against her husband, proceedings have stalled with Rosella Sensi's very convincing case and Frankie Fraser very much on the back foot. Paris is currently dating French footballer Mathiu Debuchy, but the relationship doesn't exactly seem to be on the up. Paris is reportedly regretting her move to Hull, with City boss Dave Izod paying little attention to her. Crewe have agreed to a contract termination and Paris is technically unemployed... again. How she would love to turn time back 18 months. Yes, she has matured and built a reputation, but she's lost her husband and the father of her child.

The Ugly

de-oculos-ronaldo-agradece-ao-apoio-dos-fas-via-twitter-1288235026152_300x400.jpg

Ronaldo jetted out of England shortly after his big announcement

24 goals in 87 games for Rochdale was perhaps not his best return, but for an ageing, crippled striker struggling with his weight, he gave it his all, and his legacy will continue to live on at Spotland. He was arguably the first of Hilton's "big name" signings, in his attempt to blend legendary players of an older generation, with some of the finest young talents in football. There sometimes wasn't an in between for Rochdale, but Ronaldo was a success story, regardless of how it all ended. Signing for £5.7m, he brought great hype and persona. A career that ends at 34 years old is one that has placed Ronaldo as one of the finest players to ever play the game. Incredibly quick feet, a ridiculously good goal scoring record, and an attitude to life that was refreshing. He was loved by everyone at Spotland, and scoring the winning goal in his last game for the club and in football, is a fitting tribute to a remarkable career. He goes down in footballing history, and Rochdale has a part of that career to savour.

Rochdale play Gillingham tonight, in what is a must win game if the club are to hold on to playoff ambitions. Many believe Rochdale will go 4-5-1, with Van Nistelrooy as the clubs only recognised first team centre forward. Jack Collison, Nigel Reo-Coker and Paul Scholes' return will make up the 5 man midfield, unless Hilton decides to risk 4-4-2 and start either Delfouneso, who has 3 in 4 this season, or Jonathas, who scored in his only game for the club so far. Big decisions for a man on edge. Heidi is beside him, but without Ronaldo, can he really steer Rochdale to greatness?...

Grimsby looking to take the sting out of the Bee's

Brentford vs Grimsby Town match preview

philbrownwatfordvpresto.jpg

Grimsby boss Steve Thompson wants a strong finish to the season

Grimsby Town travel to Griffin Park tonight as they look to throw a spanner in the works of Brentford's playoff push. The Bee's currently sit inside the playoff spots in 5th place and will see the game against Grimsby as a routine win with the Mariners all the way down 15th and nothing to play for but Grimsby boss Steve Thompson has set his side the target of finishing in the top half and will go to London with confidence after beating Rushden in dramatic circumstances last time out.

javierhernandezmanchest.jpg

Javier Hernandez looking to regain his place in the Grimsby side

Grimsby will have to make one enforced change for the game with on loan midfielder Anthony Le Tallac suspended after picking up his fifth booking against Rushden meanwhile Thompson still has decisions to make on who will start upfront after Billy Sharp and Javier Hernandez came off the bench to win the game in midweek.

Steve Thompson manager of Grimsby Town spoke to the press ahead of the game.

"We are going down there to win the game make no mistake about that. People have been saying that we have nothing to play for but that is wrong we are playing for pride and prize money. We want to finish as high up the table as we can to boost the coffers ahead of next season.

I have a few decisions to make with regards to who will start the game but i will keep them very close to my chest we don't have Anthony for the trip and i have a couple of lads who can play in the middle so thats one then we have the strikers with Billy and Javier doing so well after coming on in midweek but Andy and Jozy are both good for a goal and it's a nice decision to have to make it shows the quality we have in the squad.

Brentford are a very good side and deserve to be were they are they have a great manager in Daz and he will have his boys right up for this it promises to be a cracking game"

18 year old wonderkid set to make his debut.

1551503.jpg

18 year old japanese wonderkid is expected to make his long awaited debut tonight. Humphries has turned too Miyaichi after the russian 28 year old Samedov was injured and Montana failed too impress, Montana in particular has been average and the reality of going down was enough for humphries to take a risk, Reading find themselves just one point outside the relegation places after a run of 3 losses on the trot.

The 18 year old was the centre of a frantic bidding war that included no less than 17 other clubs, Humphries managed to secure the signing though after he out bidded the rest and promised Ryo the chance of first team football something the other teams could not.

Humphries

I'm well aware that i'll be throwing him in at the deep end but im rapidly running out of idea's. Everyone at the club is aware of Ryo's ability but he's still young so i dont really know how he's going to handle the pressure' date=' He's a real threat though when he's running at you so all i wish from his is that he emulat's his form that he's shown in the youth team[/quote']

Is this the act of pure desperation or the act of a pure genius, Find out come 1am tomorrow morning

Meireles set for Manchester exit

raul_meireles.jpg

Meireles getting accustomed to the Manchester weather

Early this morning Notts County announced on there official website that they were selling Raul Meireles to Division 1 side Manchester United, this has marked the end of a four month stay at the club for Meireles, who will now relish the opportunity of playing at a higher standard of football, when the issue was raised in the post match press conference after the 2-1 win over Barnsley the County manager Andrew Clifford said:

I can fully understand why Raul Meireles would want to leave us for Manchester United, despite him enjoying his spell at the club and been a fantastic player for us I feel that this represented a good opportunity for all parties involved,it's great for Raul as he now gets to test and prove himself at a higher standard of football and play in front of huge crowds every week as well.

Manchester United are getting a fantastic player and I know that the manager rates him extremely highly as do I,and for us it means we have sold him on for a huge profit in the end, looking at the deal we brought him in for Huntelaar+Mlapa who cost £15 Million and sold him on for at least double and possibly three times more than we brought him in for and that is hard to turn down,I feel this deal has made us a stronger side and gives us more options and more depth for the squad, one good piece of news is that we get to keep him until the end of the season so he can help with our push for the playoffs.

Adler,Peiters+Cana set to join County.

adler-1.data.jpg

The signing of Adler has delighted County fans.

As part of the deal which sees Meireles head to Manchester,Notts County will be getting three players in exchange for him,the first will be German goalkeeper Rene Adler who is 26,will offer a younger alternative than current goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez who is 39,the second to join is Left Back Erik Pieters, despite only been 22 he has proven himself on loan to Q.P.R this season as his been a key player for the Division 3 side who are currently 2nd in the table, the third player to join will be 27 year old Albanian Lorik Cana, with his ability to play in Midfield he can be used as a direct replacement for Raul Meireles and can also play as a Centre Back, when asked about the three new acquisitions Clifford was delighted.

I think these three players will be able to take our performances to another level,in Rene we have a top class keeper who at 26 years old is in the prime of his career, his been a reliable keeper for Germany and Manchester United and will be a fantastic player for us,I felt we needed to strengthen the Goalkeeping department and in Rene we now have one of the best Goalkeepers in the world at the club,I'm also delighted to bring in Erik Pieters to the club as well, his only 22 years old and has the chance to progress further at the club as he will get regular game time for us,whilst we have strengthened that position with Jose Enrique and Luke Young I'm delighted to have another option who can play there,I think we now have the Left Back spot sorted for the foreseeable future and can now look at other parts of the team to improve upon, the third signing we have brought in is Lorik Cana, his been a fantastic combative midfielder for everyone he has played for,and I feel that was lacking from our game as most of our other Central Midfielders are flair players,we now have that option in our side and whilst it's disappointing to lose a player of the quality of Raul Meireles we have managed to strengthen three key areas for us in the process of doing that.

Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Peterborough 1-1 Yeovil Town

Irelands-Keith-Fahey-righ-006.jpg

Yeovil Town kept thier playoff hopes open last night as they got a well deserved point from Peterborough. Yeovil Town have still got the hope of getting in to the playoffs, the way Tom Tamburro got them promoted to Division 3 a couple of seasons ago. They are back here again to try and get that promotion up to Division 3. Some would say that Yeovil should stay in Division 4, its the only division where they can actually win some and compete high in the table, but manager Tom T said that they will be doing all they can to get into the play-offs.

He said "Tonight we earned a point. That point was good. We are 10th in the table but we are one win away from getting in to the top 6. Our next game is against Swindon who are in the playoff positions. If we win them we can get that position from them. The boys will play thier hearts out as they all want to win the Division 4 play-offs for the 3rd time. What an achievement. I would love to be the manager who takes them to that".

Who can be the key men for Yeovil?

Well, the forward to are the most influencial players in Yeovils best 11. They are the two players who know where the net is. Together they have a few goals, but Sand is the main player for Yeovil. Scored 11 this season to be one of only few Yeovil legends to get into the double figures. Milevskiy is still a yeovil Legend. Brought from Manchester United a few seasons ago, he is the player that is key for not only the last few games this season, but also the future of Yeovil Town. At just 26, he has got alot of seasons (and goals) left in him.

What is the future like at Yeovil?

No doubt that soon manager Tom T will have to start looking in the transfer market for young players. Most of thier team is made up of experienced players, but if they want to establish them selves as a good club then they will have to start buying new young players. Curtis Davies has got alot of seasons left in him at just 25 years old. So as Milevskiy, but not alot of players have. Yeovil will start seeing that more and more players will have to retire, this season Quintin Fortune will retire which would mean more could be walking soon.

Can Yeovil actually be in Division 2 one day?

Of course they can, but its going to have to take major invesment and the hope of Milevskiy having a major season (20 goals +). Its all down to Tom T, he has pulled of baragins before such as Keith Fahey, Milevskiy, Steve Morison, Curtis Davies, Lucchetti, Bouma and a few other great players. Also the loan market is crucial. This season Acevedo, Beerens have been here on loan. Yeovil will hope they can be here next season aswell with also another player may come in on loan too. Tom will have to be quick if he wants a quality player here. So the answer to the question is if Yeovil buy young quality players, get the best out of Sand and Milevskiy and get a good deal in the loan market, Yeovil town could be on the rise.

Fulham drop down to third as they come off worse in an amazing game at Villa park losing 6-4 to the play-off chasing Villains. Replacing their west London cousins a rampant Crystal Palace take full advantage with a fine 3-0 win over a disappointing Middlesbrough. Sunderland drop down to 4th after a shock 2-1 defeat at Reading and despite 5th and 6th place Crewe and Bradford losing, both teams retain their finger holds on a play-off finish.

th_Chatterton-2.jpg?t=1298195053Nick Says…..Two landmark results sees the relegation sands once more shift after a huge win for Shorpe at Stoke sees the Irons leap from the drop zone into 17th place replaced by Stoke at the bottom and Cardiff after their 2-1 defeat at Plymouth. A Ryan Babel brace was enough to clinch the vital points for the Pilgrims who courtesy of the win find themselves a tantalising three points away from the safety of 17th place. Wins for Wigan and Reading see them power away from the bottom three but a 2-2 draw for Watford with Coventry sees them back in the mix as they drop down to 16th place.

Mariners exterminate the Bee's

Brentford 0 vs 2 Grimsby Town match review

fulhamvhullcitypremierl.jpg

Grimsby boss Steve Thompson thanks the traveling Grimsby support

Grimsby Town produced a smash and grab performance at Griffin Park on Saturday as they beat playoff chasing Brentford 2-0. Both teams were fairly evenly matched on the night with maybe the home side deserving something from the amount of chances they created but Grimsby showed their ruthless side by taking their chances when they came their way and the result means that Thompson's side stay in touch with the teams in the top half.

Grimsby made one change to the side that beat Rushden last time out with recent signing Dickson Etuhu handed his full debut in place of the suspended Anthony Le Tallac apart from that the Mariners kept the same starting XI meaning Hernandez and Sharp started on the bench.

The first half was pretty much a non event with neither side making the goalkeeper work the only real talking point was a decent penalty shout for Grimsby on 26 minutes when right back Gretar Steinsson seemed to be tripped in the box but referee Pavel Kralovec waved away the frantic appeals. HALF TIME 0-0

The second half started pretty much like the first with both teams playing cautious football but the breakthrough finally came just before the hour mark through winger Darío CVITANICH the Argentine managed to work some space for himself before smashing the ball with venom into the roof of the net given Brentford goalkeeper Vivano no chance 0-1. Things got even worse for the home side at minute later when German midfielder Michael Fink received a straight red card for a disgraceful challenge. The ten men looked dejected and struggled even more to find a way through a stubborn Grimsby defense.

javierhernandezstokecit.jpg

Javier Hernandez scored his 15th goal of the season for the Mariners

The game looked to be heading for a 0-1 win to the away side but substitute and Grimsby top scorer Javier HERNANDEZ made the three points safe on 85 minutes poking home from close range after an almighty scrammble in the Brentford six yards box. FULL TIME 0-2.

After the game a delighted Grimsby Town boss gave his views on the result.

" I am delighted with that result even though our performance wasn't really that great. We struggled to really create anything but when the chances did come our way we have took them and that is very pleasing.

I am sure Daz (Brentford manager) will feel hard done by his team did well and have come away with nothing but we have come out on the wrong end of games like this so it's nice to have the shoe on the other foot for a change.

It was nice for Javier to get himself a goal tonight he has looked a little off color in recent weeks but he seems to be finding his form again and i am happy for the lad"

Second placed QPR do themselves a power of good with a thumping 4-0 home win over Brighton to close the gap on the Yorkshiremen to just 1 point. A loss and a win for third and fourth placed Rotherham and Bristol Titty sees them tied on 62 points and leaves them just one win from booking a definite play-off finish. A pair of draws for Wycombe at home to Carlisle and Gillingham at Rochdale sees no change in the top six.

Both Vale and Bolton face stiff opposition in midweek as they face the upwardly mobile Gillingham and Notts County respectively. Derby can go a long way to securing their continued status in the third tier as they travel to relegated Carlisle.

Robert Huth Leaves Robins For Preston

Blackburn-v-Stoke-Robert-Huth-Nikola-Kalinic_2544499.jpg

Huth moves up three leagues of football to join Preston

Breaking transfer news at Whaddon Road see's Robert Huth, a player that's been at Cheltenham for sometime and has been a key player at the club ever since joining the Robins in September. Robert Huth was a player that Cheltenham boss Aidan Radford inherited when taking over the club in December, but with Huth leaving the club along with a couple unwanted youngsters now only Kevin Nolan remains in the squad who wasn't signed by the new manager. Huth was always a player that did catch the attention of some clubs and was a desirable player for many, including Preston. Preston tried to sign him last month but Cheltenham wanted to keep onto there key defender at the time but now he does join Preston up in Division 1. Wolverhampton Wanderers did try and put themselves in the hunt to signing Huth, bidding £12 million for Huth which would have helped the club financially but Cheltenham opted for the move to Preston. Notts County and Norwich City were both enquired about Robert Huth aswell, and although deals could well be lined up for those clubs to sign other Cheltenham players it was Preston who made the most desirable bid for the Robins. The deal for Robert Huth involves John Mensah & £1,900,000, as Cheltenham have managed to secure some cash aswell as being able to bring a direct replacement for Huth into the club in the form of John Mensah. With Huth joining Preston, Mensah was someone who wasn't going to be needed so Preston used him in the deal to take Robert Huth to deepdale after some pursueing in the past by manager James Burrow. John Mensah is a player that has found regular football hard to come by in recent seasons, and although this season he has managed to get a total of 16 appearances for Preston, with 10 of them being starts last season he made just 4 league appearances all season and the move to Cheltenham means that Mensah is going to be guarenteed some regular football. At the moment it looks certain that John Mensah will be playing regular football at Cheltenham, he looks set to play in the Robins final three league games of the season whilst as probably the best defender at Cheltenham he wont need to worry to much about competition for a place in the side on a regular basis. Whilst John Mensah is a very good replacement for Robert Huth, they are losing a key player in selling Huth to Preston. Robert Huth has racked up a total of 42 league appearances for Cheltenham in his stay of just over a season at the club, and at the club he past the 200 mark in terms of league appearances in this setup, when he originally joined the club he was an unwanted man and Cheltenham snapped him up for just £6 million but he moves on as much more of the complete player and is a very good signing of the last era who has played very well under the new manager and someone that the club will wish all the best to at Preston.

N'Zonzi Could Be Heading To Whaddon Road

steven-nzonzi-1.jpg

Steven N'Zonzi may well be on his way to join Cheltenham

The deal involving the move of Robert Huth to Preston, with John Mensah and cash coming Cheltenham's way in the deal is far from the only transfer happenings at Cheltenham over the course of the weekend. It is being reported that Cheltenham Town have agreed a free for young French midfielder Steven N'Zonzi to take him from Notts County to Cheltenham, with a cash fee along with Chris Gunter leaving Cheltenham to bring N'Zonzi to South West England. N'Zonzi is a player that Cheltenham boss Aidan Radford is a fan of, he's a good young and upcoming player who has been attracting plenty of attention in the transfer market but it looks like Cheltenham have just about managed to secure a deal to take him to Whaddon Road. The deal seems to be agreed although it wont beable to be done on paper untill Robert Huth leaves Cheltenham for Preston, and with most of the £1,900,000 or so that is coming Cheltenham's way for Huth to leave the club they should beable to satisfy Notts County to part company with N'Zonzi as Chris Gunter is expected to leave the club as part of the deal. More work does need to be done though as part of this deal to provide full cover at the back with Gunter being just one of five or so first team defenders, and it is expected that Danny Guthrie will leave the club in the course of the next week to be replaced with a replacement defender who will fill the role previously held by Gunter as cover for the defence. The signing of Chris Gunter was one of the first signing made by Radford when he took over the club, but since joining he has been limited to just 6 league appearances at Cheltenham and with only four of those appearances being starts he was never a player who was able to secure a regular spot at the club. Gunter was actually expected to play on Wednesday for Cheltenham in there fixture at home to Chesterfield with Robert Huth suspended, but now that Huth has left the club and Mensah will beable to replace him on Wednesday it meant that Chris Gunter wasn't going to play on Wednesday and it's now expected that he wont even be at the club to witness the game as a Cheltenham player. There is more transfer dealings set to be made by the club aside from those which should see John Mensah and Steven N'Zonzi join the club as Norwich City are said to be in advanced negotiations with Cheltenham over the signing of Chris Brunt whilst there has been enquires for the likes of Chris Eagles, Steven Whittaker and Zat Knight although if any deals are expected to occur they aren't likely to happen untill the end of the season.

Thompson set to bring in namesake Adam

Rookie Adam Thompson looks set for Blundell Park

Division four side Grimsby Town have confirmed that Rookie defender Adam Thompson is set to sign for the club after terms were agreed earlier today. The 18 year old is a free agent and the Mariners have wasted little time in bringing the highly rated Defender to Blundell Park were he will continue his development.

Thompson who's primary position is right back can also operate at center back and it is thought that he has been brought to the club as part of the broader plans that manager Steve Thompson has planned for next season.

In other news it is reported that Grimsby have accepted offers for no fewer than four of their first team players. Halil Altintop,Michael Johnson,Ferreira Edhino and Jozy Altidore all look set to leave Blundell Park as Thompson goes about reshaping his squad after a disappointing second half to the current season were they went from playoff chasers to 15th position.

Welcome to the latest, special edition of the Crewe Alexandra newsletter, the newsletter for the fans, by the fans.

Today we have the honour of interviewing PA to our messiah, Emilia.

Crewe Alexandra Newsletter: Firstly Emilia, thanks for taking five minutes out of your photoshoot to speak to us.

Emilia: It's not a problem.

CAN: so how is Sean doing?

E: he's doing fine in Belle Reve. The doctors and nurse's are looking after him. He has a nice little room all to himself, and I've been to visit on a few occasion's. He seem's all the better for getting Paris and Karren out of his system.

CAN: So Paris is definately gone then, we have heard stories of a contract termination?

E: She had a £300k clause in the contract with us, and Izod paid it to get her for Hull. Effectively making her a very expensive hooker!

CAN: You obviously still dislike her, but back to Sean, does he still have these delusions of being in another place?

E: Anno Domini, yes he does. He says that's it another world, similar to 106, but running in a parallel dimension. He also says that he's not the only 106er who knows of this place, that several others also spend time in Anno Domini, but he refuses to name names.

CAN: At least he's got his friend Smartdoc for support, I suppose he's been a great help to Sean.

E: Ah, the Smartdoc issue - personally I don't buy it. He's been there all the way along, signing the papers to get Sean sectioned, and keeping him sedated whilst inside, then he suddenly gets the England job, all a bit suspicious if you ask me.

seanfitzharrisprofile.jpg

Young winger Fitzharris

CAN: So tell me about the transfers at the club, despite Sean being put away for his own safety, young Sean Fitzharris has arrived at the club, and Ludovic Sane moved to Leeds.

E: Young Fitzharris was actually suggested by Sean on my last visit, he had a dream were he visited a place called 'reality' and saw him in a playing on Tuesday night. He's a pacy young winger who has great potential, apparently. The sale was the chairman's decision, apparently he felt that having a player called Sane around when Sean returns was a little like rubbing salt in the wound.

CAN: So Sean will be returning?

E: Yes, Sean's job is safe at Crewe, and we are currently going through the courts to ensure his job with England is also safe. Anywhooo, time for me to go and remove this bra for my next lot of photo's. Bye!

CAN: See ya

Dream move for Huth as Preston add to defensive ranks

Preston North End have completed the signing of German defender Robert Huth from Division Four side Cheltenham Town for a cash + player deal.

The fee is believed to be around £2m, with fellow defender John Mensah moving to Whaddon Road. The Ghanaian international was frustrated at his lack of opportunities to play at Deepdale, and was allowed to leave by manager James Burrow to get regular first team football. Huth will be unable to make his debut against Huddersfield due to suspension, but Burrow says he cant wait to see him in action against Everton int he penultimate game of the season:

"Rob Huth is a player who I have been trying to sign for a long time now. I have been an admirer of his 'never-say-die' attitude, the kind of attitude which I relish seeing at Preston. He's in the mold of Jamie (Carragher) yet he will still be able to play alongside Carra. Unfortunately he'll miss the Huddersfield game, as will Ricky van Wolfswinkel, and Tom Huddlestone, but that gives him time to meet the squad and get fully match-sharp."

Asked why Huddlestone will be absent from Wednesday's game, James replied:

"Tom has been playing with a pain-killing injection recently, in a bid to re-ignite our title charge. When he hasnt played, he's hardly been able to walk, let alone play. I always feel bad making a player play when he's carrying an injury, but I had Tom's consent, and now that the title's out of reach, he can earn a well deserved rest, and look forward to the World Cup.

Burrow also confirmed that Preston are not the mystery club in negotiations with Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Javier Mascherano, however he did reveal that the club were in very brief negotiations over the phone for Rooney, but those talks ended after the first sentence.

Loan Rangers

Dale Call On Darlington Duo

Rochdale today announced the loan signings of Darlington pair Mateo Musacchio and Keirrison. The two youngsters have been on the verge of Michael Flounders' first team for a number of years now, with Musacchio signing for around £500,000 in Season 3 from River Plate and Keirrison joining in Season 7 for a steeper £4.15m. Both players have been identified as big talents but they have failed to make the grade so far in the North East, and Hilton has taken a punt on both in his hope of pushing for a playoff spot. After 9 years at Darlington following his arrival, Musacchio was loaned out to Chesterfield last year in the hope of gaining first team football, but the move didn't work out and he failed to make an appearance. With Katsouranis currently playing at the heart of the defence, Hilton may not be the one to give him his senior debut with only 3 games plus hopefully playoffs remaining.

Musacchio: Yet to make a senior appearance in football...

Keirrison however, is likely to prove much more vital to Rochdale's playoff push. This is remarkably Keirrison's 12th loan spell and his 11th different loan club. Despite this, the Brazilian has still managed to net an impressive 38 goals in 69 appearances in league football, many of these coming off the bench. Hilton has a decision as to whether stick with the in form Nathan Delfouneso, or blow it all on his two young loan men in the hope of upsetting the odds and taking the playoffs by storm once again.

Mariners look to keep up unbeaten run

Grimsby Town vs Ipswich Town match preview

philbrownnottinghamfore.jpg

Steve Thompson has been busy in the transfer market

Grimsby Town return to Blundell Park tonight as they take on Ipswich Town in a midtable battle. Both team are currently on 47 points so a win for either could see them climb as high as 11th if other results go there way.

The Mariners team has seen wholesale changes in the last couple of days with four players being shown the exit door and no fewer than ten new faces have arrived in the same time as Thompson goes about changing his squad in preparation for next season.

davidnugentburnleyvsund.jpg

New Grimsby signing David Nugent will be hoping to be amongst the goals

Michael Johnson,Halil Altintop,Ferreira Edhino and Jozy Altidore have all moved on to pastures new whilst Adam Thompson,David Nugent,Christophe Berra,Eddie Johnson,Adam Bogdan,Marc Pugh,Aron Gunnarsson,Dean Cox,Danny Green and Andy King have all arrived to boost the Mariners ranks considerably for next season.

christopheberramkdonsvw.jpg

Christoph Berra will add steel to the Grimsby defense

Thompson's bench could have a completely new look for the game against the Tractor boys with Berra,King and Nugent all being tipped to feature straight away whilst the other new signings are believed to have been brought in to add much needed depth to a side which has struggled with injuries to key players throughout the season.

Steve Thompson spoke to the press ahead of the game to give his thoughts and reaction to his new signings.

"I am delighted that i have been able to get so many bodies in over the last couple of days. Grimsby does not have endless pots of cash like many teams so i have had to sell to buy but the players i have brought in i feel will do a very good job for us in the long run. I thought that the team needed freshening up a little and these new lads bring that they have all played in England at some point during their careers and that was also in my thinking when i brought them here.

I expect a few of the new lads to feature at some point against Ipswich. David Nugent will certainly be in my plans as the boy knows were the net is he scored a lot of goals for Preston North End a few seasons back and he is a good age at just 25.

The game against Ipswich will certainly be tough they have some very good players in their side but we are at home and we want to give the fans something to cheer after our poor second half to the season a win could also see us near our target of a top half finish so the dangling carrot is there for the players"
