Boateng Joins Cherries

48320.jpg

Derek Boateng Becomes Bournemouths Top player

Early This morning it was annonced by Derek Boateng's agent annonced that the Ghana international would be joining Bournemouth Rather than Wycombe the decision is said to anger getafe fans who we're hoping they could keep there expereinced Central Midfielder. The Ghana Central Midfielder joins in a swap for bournemouth reserve players Lukas Van Eeno and Gareth Stewart along with 802k which in the end seemed to have clinched the deal for the south coast cup. Boateng joins on a 4 year contract worth £24,450 and has been said to be relishing the chance to show the Bournemouth Fans what he can do. It is yet unknown if Boateng will start tonights game against Luton although he is said to have jumped off the plane straight into assistant manager Gary kellys Car which is a postive sign for the cherries fans.

Duffy:

It's great news to me and all the backroom staff that Derek has decided to pick us over Wycombe , he'll play a vital role in the centre of are midfield and i have every confidence the fans are going to enjoy the impact he has on the team. Derek's a colourful lad and should fit in perfectly down here on the south coast.

Grimsby face tough Swindon test

drobnygreenlegup49503.jpg

New signing Jaroslav Drobny will hope to keep his place in goal

Grimsby Town continue their quest for the playoffs tonight when they travel to the County Ground to take Swindon Town. The Mariners are currently in splendid form at the present time enjoying a fantastic run of 10 league games without defeat and will be hoping to pick up another 3 points against a Swindon team who are struggling at the wrong end of the table in 17th position.

The Mariners will be without the services of influential defender Maza Rodriguez for the game after the Mexican suffered a knock in the midweek draw against Ipswich.

One player hoping to impress will be new signing Jaroslav Drobny. The Czech international goalkeeper signed for the Mariners during the week from German side Hamburger SV and went straight into the starting XI against Ipswich making a number of fine saves but Grimsby boss Thompson has been known to change his goalkeeper's on a game by games basis with Scott Loach and Veteran Jens Lehmann both seeing plenty of game time so far this season.

One player who will definitely start for the away side is top scorer Fraizer Campbell. The 23 year old striker is currently one of the form players in the country and will be looking to add to his already impressive 13 goals so far this season.

Just before his side set off for the trip South Grimsby Town manager Steve Thompson gave a brief word to the press.

"It's sure to be a tough game against Swindon and we are going to have to be at our best to ensure we get the result we want. Our form is fantastic at the present time and we want to keep it going our aim is the playoffs and we are within touching distance now.

I am happy with how the squad is looking we acquired Jaroslav Drobny in midweek to add some competition to the goalkeeping places and i have to say I have been impressed with how the boy has settled in he looks a class act and we are now well stocked in that department"

Derek Boateng to be Centre of attention

In the Past few seasons this fixture has offered great viewing for the neutral fans with the last four meetings offering 18 goals with the most recent game back on february 23rd being a 6-2 thriller in which bournemouth won. Both Luton and Bournemouth are use to flirting with the bottem end of division four however in recent weeks the cherries under new management have been able to push away from the group of teams at the bottem of the table and have pushed on into a play off position thanks to seven back to back wins leading Bournemouth Manager Aaron Duffy to be accepted by the cherries fans who are in great spirts. However The Cherries face a good Luton side who are currently and undeservedly 19th in the the division four table. Luton Travel to dean court looking to end there poor run of form of 2 points from a possible 18 and there would be no better way to do it than upsetting the party at Dean Court. Bournemouth have New signing Derek Boateng in there ranks for tonights game after the ghana international completed his move from Getafe in the early hours of this morning along with this the Cherries aloud Vlarr to return to Wycombe after it was decided he had placed a negative look on the team after a terrible tackle against Rushden last weekend along with this Duffy is said to feel that the defensive options he has at his disposal is enough for the time being and instead has brought in young english Winger Victor Moses on loan from arsenal for the remainder of the season in a cover role for Hammill and Curci. Luton also have there threats especially in the attacking area's with Alexandre Cuvillier whos baged 6 goals so far this season in 10 games and is sure to cause trouble for the cherries defence. There is a predicted Crowd of around 4-5,000 for this evenings game as good form still is not helping pull in the local fans after most defected in season 6 after a long run of bad form Duffy will be hoping some will return when it is proved this is not just a short term rise and a long term job.

Chris Kirkland:

id like to think that boateng can link in quickly with the lads and start a good relationship however you know that luton manager Mr Eller will be looking to shake things up so who knows it could go either way i just hope for my old clubs sake they dont lose and hold onto that brilliant record there currently on, id like to say its sure to be a win for the cherries but im gonna go for a draw.

Saturday 21st May 2011 – Division Two – Turn 19

Match Preview

Fulham vs Leyton Orient

Stadium: Craven Cottage – Stadium Capacity: 26,600.

london_craven2.jpg

Craven Cottage, where the magic happens.

Leyton Orient will travelling across London to face Phillip Gibbons Fulham this weekend. They will be doing this on the back of a huge 7-1 win over Wolves proving they are good enough to compete in this league. But Phil's Fulham are no push overs. They currently sit in 4th compared to Orient's 12th and are the bookies favirote's to win.

Leyton Orient will be without first teamer Boukari and recently displaced Sow for the game due to an injury for the former and suspension for the latter. But very good news for Orient fans is that Bruno Soriano is expected to make a return to the bench! Whilst they will have their first chance to see their new Brazilian winger Danilho who will debut in place of injured Boukari. Ya Konan will be dissapointed to miss out as he can also play the position of winger.

Fulham however are only missing one player in the name of Gaston Fernandez who has scored 4 goals so far this season for the cottagers. Other than that Phil has a full squad to select from.

Preston second-bottom at half way after encouraging draw against Darlington

Preston were made to rue missed chances as they could only earn a point against Darlington, whose run of poor form continues.

A brace from Luis Fabiano either side of a goal from Glen Johnson gave Darlo a 2-1 half-time lead, but shortly after the interval, Gareth Bale marked his home debut with a superb solo goal. Preston continued to assault the Darlington goal, with Rui Patricio having to be on top form to prevent Bafetimbi Gomis adding to his two debut goals against Sheffield United in mid-week. On a sour note, Preston lost Sami Hyypia to injury in the second half, and he looks set to miss the next two weeks.

Here's what manager James Burrow had to say on the draw, and on his teams chances of survival:

"It's not often you can be disappointed with a draw against a team like Darlington, but they are stuck in a rut currently, and this was our best chance to get one over our old foe, and we bottled it. We had plenty of chances, but just couldnt put them away, which has been the story of our season. Johnno (Glen Johnson) and young Gareth (Bale) took their goals very well, I havent seen such a great goal like Bale's in a long time. Obviously the situation isnt ideal, we are without Sami (Hyypia) for three games, which means another defensive reshuffle, and we find ourselves in the bottom three at half-way, but we aren't bottom. We are far from in a crisis, and I have been encouraged by our recent performances."

Wycombe boss slams shocking Boateng decision

Ron Vlaar speaks his mind on life at the seaside

Wycombe boss Mrmalcolm who is normally quiet on these matters decided to break cover after the outrageous double dealing that saw Ron Vlaar return to Adams park and Derek Boateng join the Cherries. Ron Vlaar who had been a great success at Bournemouth depite the recent red card had seen Bournemouth through to 7 consecutive wins. It was clear that sending Ron back was a clear move to disguise the last minute bid for Boateng who had a clear buy and return loan deal with Getafe. Despite the sneeky purchase it seems that the move immediately backfired on Bournemouth who lost to lowly Luton, hardly managing 1 shot on target all game.

Ron Vlaar said " It's a shame Derek decided to join a struggling 4th division side rather than a side heading for promotion to Division 2 this year. I guess he already regrets it. After all what has Bournemouth got that Wycombe hasn't "

Despite the knockback Mrmalcolm was upbeat. " New signings such as Anderson Polga, Ivan Hernandez and Abella Damia show just how serious we are at building a squad for promotion. Our next game against Brighton will be tough but clear player of year so far in Division 3 Marco Di Vaio could well send us another 3 points "

Duffy Laughs Off "Pathetic Comments By The Wycombe Manager" As Brave Bournemouth Finally Lose

article-0-0241D39F00000578-709_306x423.jpg

Duffy Seems to find the situation quite amusing

The day after the Cherries finally lost under new boss Aaron Duffy after 7 straight Victories for the South Coast Club it has been stated in the news comments that the Wycombe boss has made about Bournemouth Football Club calling them " A Struggling Division Four Side" And even stated that Duffy was bitter about a Wycombe bid for New signing Derek Boateng just before his move from Getafe to Dean Court along with this it has been made out that the reason for Vlarr's Return to Adams park was seen as somewhat pathetic by the Wycombe Boss. However after being told the comments by his Assistant Manager Gary Kelly Duffy was seen laughing and told Vetran Left back Gary Kelly that "We Might be a small club but at least we got Derek". Duffy is said to have seen the comments as just crazy and that he never intended for the return of Vlarr to be taken so unpleasently by the wycombe boss.

Duffy Had This To Say:

It's just crazy to be honest i find the situation quite funny , hes come out a critisized the club saying were small although im sure are commited fans would out sing any group of wycombe supports. this situation with Vlarr ill set it out in stone once and for all yes the lad let the club down and that was one reason why he was returned but we have enough cover at centre half and at present are team needs a solid defence not one made of loans. As for Derek he choose to join us ... why because we treat are players well here we dont start things in the media and we dont down talk other clubs that is all on the matter. as for yesterday we we're unlucky but we have the chance to bounce back on wednesday night against a good Grimsby side but it will be a tough game one which the whole squad is very much excited for.

Grimsby suffer late heartbreak

philbrownheadinhands.jpg

Grimsby boss Steve Thompson rues his sides luck

Grimsby Town's 10 game unbeaten run came to a dramatic end on Saturday when they feel to a heartbreaking late defeat at the hands of struggling Swindon at the County Ground.

The Mariners looked to be heading for a hard earned point which would have been harsh on the home side but bean pole striker Nikola Zigic ensured his side came away with all the points but Grimsby keeper Jaroslav Drobny will have nightmares after his part in the goal.

In truth Grimsby didn't deserve anything from the game after a below par performance but the manner in which they suffered defeat will undoubtedly have manager Steve Thompson worrying how his team will respond in the upcoming game against fellow play off chasers Bournemouth.

After the game a clearly downbeat Thompson faced the press.

"I have to say that I gutted in how we have lost the game but make no mistake we didn't really deserve to take anything away after a very poor performance.

I can't really put my finger on why we played so badly today but you have to give credit to Craig and his Swindon side who made it very difficult for us and that is evident by us not having a single shot on target all game.

We now have to pick ourselves up and focus on Bournemouth who are going to be very difficult opposition but we are at home and we need to make that advantage count come kick off. We still have half a season left to play and we are in a great position to have a go at the play offs"

The Sun - "Leyton Orient STUN Craven Cottage by banging in SIX"

Wednesday 18th May 2011 – Division Three – Turn 99

Banega (24)

Barry (26)

Nene (32)

Nene (46)

Nene (48)

Park (69)

_41644098_steelegoal.jpg

Leyton Orient celebrate Nene's THUMPING hatrick.

Anderson Nene stole the show for the second game running with a FANTASTIC hatrick. It didnt take long for Leyton Orient to open the flood gates, when on form Adebayor rounded the keeper on the 15th minute to give The O's the lead. Then it was Banega who ROCKETED the ball into the back of the net from 20 yards out. Then just minutes later Barry managed to nick another from a Nene corner with a back heel flick.

Then step up Anderson Nene, who whole heartedly stole the show tonight, just 30 minutes in hits the target with a BLINDING 25 yard free kick. Half time approaches and with the score at 4-0 you'd think Fulham were done and gone, but they had no problem testing Van Der Sar's reflexs when Menez blasts one from 20 yards stright towards the top corner, but somehow Captain Marvel Edwin finger tips the ball out.

The second half kicked off and Nene got straight back into with an amzaing SOLO run through the Fulham defence to slot past the on-coming keeper for number 5 of the night. Guess what? Nene was at it AGAIN as some great passing by Leyton Orient see's Gareth Barry slotting a ball to carve open the Fulham defence sending Nene through one on one with the keeper as he chips the ball just out of reach of Romero.

1346435_full-prt.jpg

Man of the match, Anderson Nene.

[Well Leyton Orient don't have any injury problems for the next game and with Bruno and Sow back Zak will have a big selection migrane! Although Heinze at left back is looking a little tired after so far playing all but two games, but has still been as solid as a rock.

The O's face a very strong Aston Villa side next with the likes of Cambiasso, Donavan and Kalou. So it will once again be no easy task, but the same was said about Fulham.

A few words from Zak Cluer after the game:

We were brilliant once again tonight and Nene showed exactly why we signed him! We had scouts initially watching him anyways, then he was offered as part of a deal that seen Fernandinho leave and we went for it. Clearly paying off!

We wont be taking any chances next game against Villa i will go into exactly how i have all season not at underestimating our opponents. But three points is want we want, so our aim is that!

We can also announce that Didier Ya Konan and Gareth Barry will be on their way to Crewe Alexandra in around six weeks time. Our way will come De Jong, but the main reason for the deal was Barry wanting to go and play under ex-international manager Sir Sean Fitzpatrick. He played his best international football under Sir Sean and would like to echo those days back in division one and Ya Konan was added to the deal as the addition of Ade & Savi meant ive had to tell him he will be a bit part player from now on and we agreed he could go on to the Crewe. He's a great player, and im sure he will enjoy his time at Crewe under a great manager like Sir Sean.

DeJong2.jpg

Leyton Orient's future defensive midfielder!

We also managed to grab a few quick words from Gareth Barry:

Im very excited to finally get the chance to player under Sir Sean at Crewe. He IMO is one of the best managers in the business and definatley the best man to manage England so far. I feel i can go to Crewe and become a better player working under him.

Although i have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Orient and Zak really is a great manager, my heart lies with Sir Sean (Man love?). Im glad Leyton Orient can bring in someone to do my job though as De Jong is a great player.

Season 13 Matchday Programme No. 17

image-5-for-bill-shankly-gallery-195588010-1-3.jpg

Daniel Ratcliffe brings his Stoke City team to Anfield tonight in the fourth round of The Shield. Racky has done a fantastic job since taking over The Potters in March, averaging over 2 points per game. The Shield gives us a great chance to blood some of the youth players alongside experienced veterans

‘Now Then’ our Guest of Honour today is Mr Jingle-Jangle Jewellery himself, Sir Jimmy Savile OBE KCSG. Sir Jimmy worked for many years as a volunteer porter at Stoke Newington Hospital, which, ‘As it ‘appens’, is nowhere near Stoke on Trent. Nevertheless, it is an honour to welcome me ald mate to Anfield today. I first met Jimmy when he was president of the National Amateur Body Builders’ Association, and he will be fixin’ it for all the Guys n Gals to tone up in the Michael Owen Medical Centre after the match.

Fisherman's Blues - The One that gorraway!

Our Scrappy victory against Huddersfield on Saturday brought the first half of the season to a close. We are all delighted to be sitting on top of the table, especially as our disappointing start to the season saw us sitting in 16th position after 4 games.

Scrappy Affair

However, the reverse fixtures start with a trip to The Emirates and The Mighty Arsenal on Wednesday. We are hoping to avenge our opening day defeat at Anfield.

SIMONS OUT THROUGH SUSPENSION.............PEIXOTO OUT INJURED

The Oxford Utd Coach remained upbeat about tonight's game despite the problems and spoke to an SM reporter at the Oxford Utd training ground this morning;

"Leeds Utd are a tough outfit with a lot of quality running through the side, I personally have always liked their top scorer Dmitri Sychev who may not be in the side because of match fitness but they are not a one man band. They showed that they have what it takes when lifting the trophy last season so we know what we are up against but we will be no pushovers."

OXFORD UTD COACH IN UPBEAT MOOD

The Oxford Utd Coach would not be drawn on other matters after his release from Reading Gaol on Saturday and finished by saying that it was good to be back and would like to thank the managers who have contacted him over the weekend.

He looked 20 years younger than the mugshot posted on Sunday evening and said he was in great spirits and looking forward to seeing his beloved Oxford Utd push for an automatic promotion slot although fellow Scot Daz has his Brentford side firing on all cylinders and Blackpool will be hard to overtake. He finished by saying that there were quite a few solid sides in the running and it will probably go to the wire as usual. He was very impressed with the success of the 4th Division perennial whipping boys AFC Bournemouth saying;

"Aaron Duffy has done an amazing job turning this team around. It was always a case of how many you could score against them in previous seasons but no more, I believe they will be in the mix at the end of the season for promotion."

Crewe sign superstar

article0078b278e000005d.jpg

Crewe's chairman today unveiled the signing of the world famous Tom Cruise.

20 year old Thomas first made a name for himself in the Arsenal youth squad, before a £2million transfer to West Ham brought him into the world of EC106.

After failing to make an impact at the Hammers, he moved to Swansea for £500k, where he made just a few appearances before being shipped of to Brazil as a make weight in a deal.

After being made aware of his availability, Crewe boss Sean demanded the club put in a bid, and £270k later the youngster arrived at Gresty Road.

gun1297244478playercrui.jpg

Speaking at his unveiling Cruise said:

"It's a dream to finally get to play under Sir Sean. On two previous occasions he has tried to sign me, to no avail, so when the chance came again I was quick to sign on the dotted line, it's just a shame that he is likely to be leaving the club in about 10 weeks time, but I'm hoping that in those weeks he can help me bring a new dimension to my game"

musty.jpg

Also arriving at Crewe was young Australian Mustafa Amini. The 18 year old had been courted by Borussia Dortmund, but opted to work with Sean - even if it is for a limited time.

BREAKING NEWS! Danny Taylor is back in the EC 106 setup managing divison 4 side Nottingham Forest!

Around 2 years ago Danny left, the team he described as the best team he ever managed, Coventry City. He has now made a come back to take charge at the heart of Nottingham Forest.

"For now i will just be getting to know my team, maybe a few loan bids but i want to recreate my time at Coventry and reflect it onto Forest. The Nottingham Forest board have limited my funds, but i have had this many times before."

"I will probably be contacting various managers about friendly matches. I have a better team here than i was expecting. This is a team that with a bit of work and tactical tweaking can compete for promotion, i have set myself a target of at least 12 spot i would love to come out here saying we are aiming for the play off spots but that would be unrealistic that is a challenge for next season."

When asked to round up how he feels about his new post Danny said "its great to be back in this setup, its great to be back with a team that has as good a base as Coventry, its great to be back!"

MATCH PREVIEW

EC106 LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR

WED 25TH MAY

OXFORD UTD V BOSTON UTD

Third placed Oxford Utd await the visit of Boston Utd tomorrow with a depleted squad after their 2-0 home defeat in the English Shield to Leeds Utd on Monday night.

Five players are out through suspension or injury and with his lack of depth in the squad, it seems that 21 year old Spanish Full Back Victor Laguardia, who signed for the club in February from Standard Liege, will make his debut against Boston Utd.

VICTOR LAGUARDIA

Jacopo Fortunato, the 21 year old Italian midfielder, who made his debut on Monday night may retain his place after a fine performance against Leeds Utd because of the situation.

Jacopo Fortunato

The young Italian was on the Inter Milan books before being picked up by the Oxford Utd coach for a mere 520K in April and could be one for the future.

As he watched his players go through the motions this morning, the amiable Scottish Coach said a few words about the upcoming match;

" Of course it's hard when you have so many players out of action for whatever reason but Boston Utd are without two of their players for the game and that's how it goes. I'm not complaining about the situation, just telling it like it is. This is when you have to dig deep and see what you have in reserve. Young Fortunato had a decent game on Monday night and I have no worries putting young Laguardia in for tomorrow's clash."

THE OXFORD UTD COACH PONDERING TOMORROW'S CLASH

Oxford Utd have a slight edge over their rivals on paper with two victories and two draws in their last five meetings but the canny Scot knows that it's going to be a tough call against an unpredictable Boston Utd who have lost only twice in their last seven matches but victory is vital for the O's if they are to maintain pressure on the top two clubs Blackpool and Brentford.

Simon Laner

Forest are listening to offers around £3M for Itallian midfielder Simon Laner. Laner is the first player to fall at the hands of manager Danny Taylor since he took over earlier today.

This will be the 2nd time Laner leaves the club but, manager Danny Taylor assures the fans it will be the last time as long as he rules the transfers.

It is rumoured that Argentine Right back Ivan Pillud maybe next in line.

Manchester City v Preston North End

Match Preview

Preston hope to get back amongst the wins with victory tonight against bottom of the table Manchester City, who fell to a 4-1 defeat against North End on the opening day.

Preston have slowly started to show encouraging form, with a 2-2 draw against Darlington seen as disappointing, but with a number of fresh faces starting to get into their stride, manager James Burrow has challenged his team to finish in the top half this season. Bafetimbi Gomis and Gareth Bale have both opened their Preston accounts in the past week, and the manager is hoping for more of the same against a team stugglind to score, averaging less than a goal a game.

City will be without Ghanaian playmaker Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jurgen Schmelzer for the crucial relegation six-pointer tonight. Georgi Schennikov will continue to deputise at left-back, while Kevin Grosskreutz (City's solitary scorer last time the two teams met) could be recalled on the left flank. Following Preston's well publicised strikers goalscoring drought, Man City are at it too, with an amazing 10 and a half hours of football elapsing since a striker scored, and that striker was little-known forward Libor Kozak. Top scorer Givanildo Hulk hasnt scored in 15 hours of football, while Jakub Blaszczykowski is the only other City player to score over a single goal.

Preston are forced into one change, Sami Hyypia misses out through injury, German international Robert Huth starts in his place alongside Jamie Carragher and Dani Gastaldello (back from suspension) Cameron Jerome has been omitted from the squad for personal reasons, and looks set on a loan move to Nottingham Forest in the next 24 hours. Luka Modric is a slight injury doubt, but looks set to start ahead of Charlie Adam. Stevan Jovetic broke his goalscoring duck in a behind closed doors friendly against Bournemouth on Sunday, and is likely to start alongside Gomis, with Crewe loanee David Goodwillie benched again.

Preston will have added incentive to score tonight, with each player wearing a special under-shirt in celebration of the managerial career of Charlton's Dean Bryant, who after his 250th game in charge of the Addicks tonight is stepping aside.

In his 1st pre-match interview Danny Taylor admits he is not expecting any more than a point for tonights game against Ipswich.

"It would be silly and unrealistic of me to come out here saying we are going for all 3 points, I havent had any experience of how the team play and what makes them click.2

"Tonight Ryan shawcross and Barbosa Alecsandro will not be available to play due fitness levels."

Jerome came in today on loan from Preston and is expected to start, although the manager wouldn't give alot away about tonights line-up. "I no what you want to hear, and that is my line up." "All I am willing to tell you at this stage is that Shawcross and Alecsandro will not be playing any part." "I may release info shortly before the match? then again i may not? its like a game of poker, if i showed you my hand you would be able to second guess me all game."

Preston back to winning ways with Welsh Wizard on target again

Preston fans finally had a reason to celebrate last night as North End came away from Eastlands with three valuable points to haul themselves out of the relegation zone, while plunging the Citizens deep into relegation trouble.

For the second game running, Glen Johnson and Gareth Bale both scored, with Bale netting at exactly the same time in both fixtures. Shinji Kagawa had equalised shortly after Johnson's opener, a sweet half-volley after Joey Barton's corner had been headed clear. The winning goal came from Bale, a powerful left-footed effort which sailed past goalkeeper Pepe Reina and in off the far post. Bale risked the wrath of referee Grzegorz Gilewski by taking his shirt off to reveal a fitting tribute to departingmanager Dean Bryant, who left his post as Charlton manager this morning after 250 games in charge. However the Polish referee kept his cards in his pocket. Mna City's goalscoring problems continue, with Hulk and Aguero both having terrible nights in front of goal.

Preston leap out of the relegation zone at the expense of Portsmouth, moving into 16th place. Manager James Burrow had this to say on the team's performance, and on future targets:

"It was a great game of football. It's disappointing not to have kept a clean sheet. I saw tonight as an opportunity to really eat into this negative goal difference, but ah well, theres still 18 games left. The onloy thing really holding us back is goal difference, but the more wins we get, the more that minus figure will decrease. A few weeks ago, I was grateful to just score, but now we are scoring sublime efforts, Johnno (Glen Johnson) set the bar with his looping half-volley, then Gareth set the bar even higher with his rocket of a shot! Even Peter (Crouch) was in awe of those goals, and Im sure he'll be asking them how they score them.

(On the departing Dean Bryant...) Whoever takes on that job has huge boots to fill, Dean has done a wonderful job at Charlton, who are an example of a consistent team who dont necessarily win trophies every year, but are always in and around the top of whichever league they are in. Marco (Amelia) worked with Dean for three seasons, and it was him who came up with the shirt idea. Dean will be sorely missed, and we hope to see him back in football some time in the future."

The Life Of Bryant

arsene-wenger.jpg

250 All Out For Legend Dean

Dean Bryant last night confirmed his retirement from Charlton Athletic, after a battling 2-2 draw away to Sheffield United. Dean joined EC106 late in 2008, after accepting Carlisle's plea to manage the struggling side. After just 10 games, Bryant had amassed 22 points and was courted by Charlton, who saw potential in the wiry young boss. The deal was signed, and it was a perfect match. Bryant has gone on to achieve legendary status at The Valley, building a squad of world class players, and limiting net spending, leaving Athletic in a very good financial position. Bryant stabilized Charlton immediately upon arrival, and saved them from relegation in his first year. He then looked to build and his record signing to date was Samir Nasri for £20m, which looks an absolute snip upon reflection. After unluckily losing in a playoff final in Season 7, Bryant began to really make his mark on this team, with the policy of signing players and sticking by them. Players such as Bacary Sagna, who has made 266 league appearances since signing in Season 4, and Javier Pastore, a £2m signing in Season 8 both epitomise what Dean Bryant and now Charlton Athletic are all about.

01da6ac372dc485956aac549423e_grande.jpg

Bacary Sagna has been with the club even longer than Bryant, who has stuck by the French fullback...

In Season 10, Charlton finished runners up in Division 2, meaning Dean Bryant had finally realised his dream of Division 1 football. This is where he deserved to be and this is where he has consistently performed for the past 3 seasons, finishing comfortably 12th for the last two seasons. Bryant will leave a gaping hole in EC106, and has also left some huge boots to fill. The name Charlton Athletic is followed by the name Dean Bryant in the minds of most football fans, and it will take a manager of high stature and standing to take over the reigns and continue his fantastic work. Not only has Bryant been a credit for Charlton Athletic, he's been a credit for football and EC106 in general. A model professional who shy's clear of the media spotlight, he has gone about his work in a fabulous manner, and he will long be remembered as one of the driving forces behind the success of Charlton, and EC106. Football is changing, and people move on, but we must take time to say goodbye to heroes like Dean, who we wish the best of luck to in future careers and life.

Re: English Championship 106 - Transfer/Gossip thread

Crewe fans this morning flocked to Gresty Road in their thousands after 106's finest tweeted that he has managed his last game for the Gresty Road outfit.

It is well known that the 22 year old has been unsettled at Crewe for over a season, but it was hoped that a mass player switch followed by promotion to division 1 would help him settle at the club, but this has failed to happen.

crewealex910950739.jpg

Despite no official word as yet, it is believed that Sean asked for a release from his contract in a heated meeting with the board this morning, and it was rapidly accepted. Lawyers have been called and negotiations are said to be underway regarding a settlement.

charltonathletic007.jpg

Quick to act upon the news have been the Charlton board, seeking to find a replacement for departed 106 legend Dean, contacted Sean and offered him the post.

Whilst the Charlton fans are likely to be happy about this, Crewe fans face further heartbreak, as bookies immediately installed Dave Izod as favorite to replace the King of Crewe.

girlsign.jpg

So it appears that Sir Sean has two choices:

1 - to take the Charlton job and stay in EC106, a league that peaked at at level no other league will ever hit, in which he transformed little Crewe into a division 1 club, and in which he has enjoyed some outstanding verbal battles with Izod, Hilton, Daz and Chewie.

2 - to say good-bye to Lady 106, who, like a one night stand, was more interesting the night before, where the chairman and SMFA have repeatedly cost him deals, and were he has suffered abuse in the past.

madeatwwwtxt2piccomt.jpg

Whilst it is uncertain where Sean stands in the world of EC106, one thing for definite is that he has managed his last game for Crewe.

Crewe tonight revealed that they had persuaded manager Sean to take control of the club one more time in tonights game at Nottingham Forest.

After that he will walk away with an undisclosed 6 figure goodbye sum and be free to do whatever he pleases.

Of course we all want to know what he pleases so we tracked down the man himself, and got this exclusive statement:

Firstly I would like to say goodbye and good luck to Dean - he was a key figure in the golden age of EC106, and won't be forgotten for a long time.

Secondly I would like to give a big heads up to everyone who has contacted me today with nothing but supportive messages. Despite what some may think it has been a tough choice for me. I've become increasingly disheartened in 106 of late, and the job offer from Charlton urged me to make a decision I have been putting of for a while. This was a real choice - stay or go, and both options made equal sense. At several times today I switched from having deciding to quit to deciding o take the Charlton job. But I've made the decision to say goodbye to Crewe and Hello to Charlton.

Grimsby back on track after late winner

fraizercampbell2319145.jpg

Fraizer Campbell bagged a late winner for Grimsby

Grimsby Town bounced back from their weekend disappointment on Wednesday with a fine 2-1 win over fellow play off hopefuls Bournemouth at Blundell Park.

That result leaves the Mariners in 7th position in division 4 and just 4 points off the last play off position that is currently occupied by Colchester but with table toppers Blackpool up next Grimsby know they still have a lot of hard work to do.

Grimsby manager Steve Thompson made one change to the starting line up with defender Meza Rodriguez coming back into the heart of defence after injury in place of Steven Taylor who did not make the 18 man squad.

One other change saw new signing Bongani Khumalo come into the squad as a substitute in place of midfielder Paul Coutts who was like Taylor left out of the side.

Grimsby started the game much brighter than their visitors and took the lead with just 5 minutes gone on the clock. Ivory Coast international Cheik TIOTE was on hand to tap home from a yard for his 5th goal of the season 1-0.

Both teams enjoyed periods of pressure after the frantic start and on 34 minutes Grimsby thought they had a penalty when defender Phil Jones was tripped in the box but after consulting his linesman referee Manuel Mejuto Gonzalez waved away the appeals much to the anger of the home faithful.

The second half was a more tentative affair as neither side gave too much away but with 68 minutes gone the game sparked back into life when Bournemouth were reduced to 10 men. Striker Alessio CERCI was the man to head for an early bath after receiving his 2nd yellow card for kicking the ball away as Grimsby attempted a quick free-kick.

Bournemouth were clearly angered by that decision but their anger turned to joy on 78 minutes when they drew the game level. Nigerian striker Sone ALUKO was the man receiving the praise with a fine low shot that gave Drobny in the Grimsby goal no chance 1-1.

At this stage both teams seemed to have settled for the draw but with just 5 minutes of the game to go the home side grabbed a dramatic late winner through in form striker Fraizer CAMPBELL who showed blistering pace to beat the Bournemouth defence before chipping the ball over a helpless Sorrentino sending the home faithful into raptures 2-1. FULL TIME.

Shortly after the full time whistle Grimsby boss Steve Thompson faced the press to give his reaction to the result.

"I have to say I am one very happy manager after that result. This is one of the toughest games we will play all season and to come away with 3 points is simply massive.

I thought we played very well throughout the game but when they scored late on i was prepared to take a point but my lads showed some real guts and character to keep fighting and got their just rewards with the winner. It was a remarkable end to the game.

We have a tough looking trip to Blackpool up next but the lads are buzzing right now and can't wait for the next game. We know we will be underdogs but we have a chance on current form"

Thompson was also asked by the media if he had anything to say on the resignation of 106 legend Dean Bryant of Charlton who left the club following his 250th game.

"Dean is one of the greatest mangers in 106 history and the place will not be the same without him.

What he has achieved and the legacy he has left will never be forgotten.

It's a sad day and i wish him all the best"
