Juventus Win The Italian Sheild

Juventus beat Lazio 4-1 to claim the Italian Sheild.. In a match that should have been very close going by league positions, (Juve 3rd Lazio 2nd) Juventus strolled to victory Del Peiro and Trezeguet put them 2-0 up after only 6 minutes. Mauri pulled one back just after the half hour mark but De Clegie made it 3-1 before the break.

Del Peiro added his 2nd and Juventus' 4th after the hour mark to seal the win and secure the silverware for Juventus..

This could also prove a vital blow in the mind games department as Juve vs Lazio in the league is only a week away.

Lecce 0 - 3 Juventus

D.TREZEGUET 6

V.IAQUINTA 8

C.POULSEN 71

Juventus, still buzzing after their Sheild Win, strolled to victory over a dissappointing Lecce side. Early quick fire goals from Trezeguet and Iaquinta gave Juventus a 2 goal lead after just 8 minutes. Trezeguets goal was a strong right footed shot which left the keeper no chance. Iaquinta scored after capitalising on a defensive blunder.

Juventus were barely troubled and added a 3rd goal after a Poulsen shot took a huge deflection and left the keeper wrong footed.

Juventus remain in 3rd spot in the League but Lazio now top the league after Inter's loss. Juventus trail Lazio by 1 point.

THE RAMS END LOSING STREAK AGAINST ARCH RIVALS

nottm_forest.jpg 1-2derby-county-badge.jpg

After a disapointting run of form for The Rams, they had the chance to turn of the Team Next door, Nottingham Forest, for the Brian Clough Trophy, and they certainly did, as manager Sam Warren saw his brave men come away with a vital 2-1 win over The Red Dogs.

Derby looked very shakey in the first couple of minutes, with Forest missing so many chances, which should of really been converted. Periera Santos Roni had to be the villan in the early stages, blasting over from 6 yards, with no one to beat, no wonder he had his head in his hands.

Again, Robinson Zapata was single handedly stopping Forest from taking the lead, with some top draw saves.

Then it was Derby's turn to attack, lead by talisman Kanu, who saw his shot go just wide. De Nigris and Zandberg also saw there shots whistle wide and saved well.

Mile Sterjovski, an Ex Ram Now playing for Forest, came close to scoring against his former club a couple of times, but again, Zapata saved well. Paul Anderson also came close for Forest, who were having the best part of the play in the first half, with Derby looking like a team not in form.

Marchionni tired to lift The Rams, as he had a shot which whistled past the post, and it worked, because Derby scored, and it was Kanu! The big Nigerian cleverly dummied the keeper and slotted the ball into the empty net, for Kanu's 16th goal of the season on 42 minutes. The Rams fans were going wild, because they knew a win here today, would be as sweet as anything. The Rams headed into the break 1-0 up.

Kanu! Kanu! Kanu! Kanu Believe it? Derby are 1-0 up against the Red Dogs!

Second Half, Forest came out looking for a goal. Mile Sterjovski blasted over in a one on one situation.

Then Derby came on the attack, after Dimji Taore incepted a poor pass by on of the Forest's front men, and that incepted proved to be vital, as The Rams made the scored 2-0, thanks to Michael Zandberg smashing home a solo effort, The fans went crazy, and Manager Warren looked like a fan hiself on the touchline! Derby 2-0 up.

Zandberg has done that more than once this season! Derby go 2-0 up!

After the goal, Derby absolutely dominated the possession, but Forest still ahd their chances to score, but Zapata just would not let them score, as he pulled off some fantastic saves. Derby also had their chances, with Manfredini and Michael Zandberg both coming close.

But finally, Derby's defence broke down, and Forest scored through Guy Moussi, which left Zapata stranded. Forest pulled one back, to make the game a tense finish.

It proved to be a very tense finish, with Forest piling on the pressure in the final 10 minutes, but Derby did well to come through it, and managed to come away with a very important win, to regain their 3 point gap at the top. Kanu claimed the Man of The Match Award, with another sublime proformance. Manager Sam Warren described the game as the best defensive display he has ever seen from his side, and praised Keeper Zapata, with some match winning stops. Derby are to focus on Wednesday's game against Crystal Palace at Pride Park which will be far from easy.

Derby dominated from start to finish, with Mauro Cantoro making the breakthrough for The Rams after 16 minutes before Wolves center half Jody Craddock was sent off for diving.

Derby had chances to extend their lead before Kanu slotted home to make it 2-0 before the break, with a mis hit shot squirming under Wolves Keeper Wayne Henessey. The Rams went into the break 2-0 up.

Second half couldn't of got off to a better start for The Rams and Derby front man Kanu, as he grabbed his 2nd goal of the afternoon, as he beat the offside trap and hit the ball low and hard into the bottom corner on 46 minutes. Then immediately, Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake pulled one back for them, but then almost straight after his goal, Derby scored pretty much straight from the kick off, with Kanu claiming his hat trick and his 20th goal of the season.

4 minutes later, on loan defender Sami Hyypia made it 5-1 to The Rams, as he curled in a wonder goal from a half cleared corner. But derby weren't finished their, to rub salt into Wolves deap wombs, Mauro Cantoro made it 6-1, after a slick passing move, to give Warren's men all 3 points.

After the game, Manager Sam Warren praised Kanu, after his Man of the Match display and scoring a hat trick, to take his goal tally to 20 for the season, as he described him as "The Signing of the Season". But he did admitt that that was half of the job done, as there are 7 games to go, and he knows that every single game will be tough.

But overall, Warren was pleased to have all 3 points in the bag, and said that these 3 points are vital for the promotion push.

Good Luck with that Ross :rolleyes:B)

Ah well, Sao Paolo draw 1-1 at home with Cruzeiro.

They are second in the league so one more point from my last four games seals a nice double for me in season one :).

Unlucky with your loss tonight wozza, but with six games left the six point gap between you and third should see you promoted ;).

Winston turns things around

(Lisandro, Cazorla and Guardado scored to give Villarreal another victory)

When Dai Winston took over at Villarreal, they had only won four games out of fifteen in all competitions and were sitting third from bottom in La Liga. Since then the Welshman has transformed the team into potential title challengers.

Villarreal still have a very good chance of winning the La Liga title, despite having such a terrible start. They have to play two of the teams above them and while they sit in fifth they are only six points behind league leaders Espanyol.
