Re: Mozilla Firefox VS Safari

Firefox.

To Speed it up

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!

Re: Mozilla Firefox VS Safari

Doesn't seem like a huge change to me though (tweaking FF). Or is it just my comp?

No didn't do me nothing special either' date=' and still comparing to GC its way slower. (I have ADSL)

And as for the tweaking the FF, i wouldn't suggest it myself, as it can damage your browser more than it can do some good to him. Similar to over tuning some engine. Don't you think that it would be faster by default if it was possible without any consequences?

I tried it for a short time just to see how much would it be faster, and it wasn't much, and still GC is faster. I think its now about how many connections you allow him to handle, but the whole new way of handling the connections

Heres a GC thread

Re: Mozilla Firefox VS Safari

Definitely Firefox for me, it is faster (even without tweaking it) it looks much better, and has much more and much better add ons. So for me Firefox wins it hands down against all the other web browsers, not only Safari although Google Chrome will be challenging for first spot IMO once the beta test is complete and the real thing is out. :)

Problem now is that everyone is going to tweak there Firefox up and then we will be back to square one. :(

And BTW we won't be back to square one as the rest of SM still won't have the tweaked settings so all the forumers will have an advantage over the rest of the members, so we won't be back to square one. At least this way it will be all the forumers who get the best teams. ;)

The forumers have always had the advantage in GC's mate. :P

Yeah, everyone will tweak it but not every one will tweak it in the same way ;)

This afternoon I've been playing around with loads of different settings (alot more than just the ones on the basic video), and now i feel like i have a 16mb broadband :D. Also added so quality hack add-ons which allow me to do various things to make my fave pages load faster :D

So today I've gone from somebody with an old slow Safari to someone who will be getting all the hot picks in the next GC's with his firefox.

P.S. I advise against just changing any setting willy nilly as it may not be a positive change. As a general rule if you don't know if it's better higher or lower (on or off), leave it as it is.

Re: Mozilla Firefox VS Safari

If You Wan't Your SM To Run Faster, Then I Recommend You Install The Adblock Plus Add-On For Mozilla Firefox. With This You Can Disable All Of The Advertisements On SM, Doing This Will Make SM Pages Load Alot Quicker.

Download Adblock Plus Here:
