Re: ***********

Moaning about insulting peoples parents when he is a massive bully and racist/homophobic.

I feel that **** web-sites affect your computer and therefore can lead to pornographic pop-ups that appear and cant be closed- imagine if your sister/brother/niece/nephew saw this and they were a kid they would be scarred for life.

That aint true, yes some dodgy websites do that but many p*rn pop ups you need to agree to the terms of the site, not to mention practically everyone has pop up blockers these days

Re: ***********

I doubt it

I deleted any posts that I deemed capable of causing an upset of sorts. Seems most people on here can't last a day unless they start an argument. Why can't you all just keep your cool and drop it?

no problem teb:rolleyes:

Re: ***********

For any member that posts on this board or any others remember one thing if a board mod tells you to do something .

DO IT .

One of the rules that are agreed on before using forum .

* Challenging moderator authority (challenging the authority of the moderating team, publicly or otherwise), will not be condoned in any way*

He may not be Teb ,he is also not me ,but all SM moderators are our voice and instrument so to speak on running the forum ,if any member is not happy with any thread being deleted or a decision a SM Moderator has made send me a PM ,if i agree with you if its a thread he deleted/closed will open it and explain to my Moderator in question why ,if i think he was justified and you are wasting my time then i will give you an infraction for it from Saturday even if it meant the Moderator in question had even give it one .

If you havnt seen it i would read this link because from Saturday after giving members two dys warning it will be used much more.

Re: ***********

Hmm... now there's something I can't see being applied with any degree of consistency. :( Used in extreme cases only it seems fine, but judging by what's in that announcement, this relies a bit too much on interpretation for me. I'm assuming that's been properly thought through, right?

Well it will be a matter of wait and see ,you say to much on interpretation but even your comment "fine in extreme cases" that can also be open to what you class as extreme and what the Moderators do,

at the end of the day your all shown what you can get infractions for ,

Warning for Rule Violation

Spammed Advertisements

Insulted Other Member(s)

Signature Rule Violation

Inappropriate Language

Instant Ban 10pts

So to me rather than i go about worrying about interpretation / consistency from Moderators its more down to you members to make sure you dont break any of the above ,yes can tell you it has been thought through we always do before introducing anything on Forum ,its not and wasnt an instant decision ,everything has plus and minus against it but giving the Moderators this tool fetches more of a big plus than a minus to the forum and to help them do their role properly.

If a member gets an infraction for any of the above they are not left in the dark ,they have to be sent that Moderators reasons for it which by the way means it would have broken one of the above otherwise it cant be given ,so to me its about members putting their own house in order first with the above ,because at the end of the day Spamming ,Breaking Rules ,Insulting members and Inappropriate Language dosnt come down to a Moderators interpretation or even extreme cases ,it shouldnt be happening from any member from the off full stop.

So if some members think the Forum will be boring for them because there fun of insulting members and swearing and winding other members up with the intention to flame the thread will now be stopped then they are free to go elswhere find a Forum that allows this enjoyment, this one will not, this is not an adult forum so the above will now get clamped down very quickly over the next couple of weeks,if members are slow to learn then the points will soon total 10 and infraction system will instantly ban them for a time .

Thats all going to say on subject for now until its had a good run to see how it goes over time and to make sure your worry of inconsistency doesnt happen, but i think it will be more about members kicking bad habits which they have got away with up to now.

Re: ***********

I'm not worried about it to be honest (I try to behave myself :P). It's just common knowledge that some mods are a lot stricter than others. I know I've seen threads closed in the past for seemingly no reason, and at other times people have been argueing for 3 or 4 pages before anything gets done.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against this new system, I'm just worried about the vagueness of the rules. 'Inappropriate language' and 'insulting other members' could mean anything. Language is largely sorted by the swear filter anyway, and what one person classes as an insult, another will see as just a bit of friendly banter.

SM has a habit of leaving users in the dark about the way things work, and most of the time that's fine, but when we don't really know what we can say without worrying about a ban it's not fine. We've got rules, but no one knows how far those rules go. Mods need clear instructions on what's acceptable and what isn't, and regular users need to be told what those instructions are.

Also, is there any appeal system in place, or is it just tough if a mod decides to abuse their powers?

Re: ***********

Technically, it can be banned. The government of any particular country could in theory force Internet Service Providers to block access to servers/domains known to host p0rnographic material. It's the same as how a few countries have banned YouTube either now or in the past. It can be done, but only for 'known' sites. If someone is willing to look hard enough (excuse the pun), they will eventually come across a site that the government is unaware of.

There's no way any ban could be fully justified though, in my opinion. It's in most people's interests to keep things the way they are (for reasons mentioned earlier in the thread).

Yeah, youtube is one site.

There must be millions of **** sites and more could always be setup when banned.

It just really couldnt be enforced.

Re: ***********

My stock is probably at an all-time low at the moment but who cares ?

You wouldn't go up to someone's window and watch them having sex. Well you might if you're someone like Gazza Thomas who likes that kind of thing. So how is it any different by watching it via the internet ?

72 hrs of forum ,check rules in future which every forum member agrees to when using forum.

use of language which is obscene, threatening, sexual, sexist, libellous, defamatory,

Crazy bones.

No I certainly wouldn't. That's a private moment for the people in question.

The people on the internet know full well that thousands of people are going to be watching them, and they agree to be watched in return for getting paid. The key there is the word 'agree'. They're just actors/actresses doing their job at the end of the day. That's the difference. ;)

You also wouldn't go up to someones window and watch them go about their day to day lives... by your own argument, Big Brother is no different to that. Should we all stop watching it? :P

And for what it's worth, people would actually like you a lot more if you cut out the personal insults. Other than that, you don't seem such a bad person. :)
