Inter slumped to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of now second place Udinense. The manager was annoyed that they couldn't start to pick up a winning streak.

We need to be more consistent, it's all well and good beating Milan by 4 goals, but we need to follow results like that up with more good scorelines. I was very disappointed at the way we played today.

Final Score Inter 0-4 Udinense

Giant Killing!

Giantkillingscore.jpg

Norwich City today have became Giant Killers in their own right after beating EPL side Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 at White Hart Lane.

Rhys Hunt told his team before the match to play very defensive and hit Tottenham on the counter-attack. Norwich were 2-0 down at half time and that's when Norwich got a telling to at half time by manager Rhys Hunt and The Canaries bucked up their ideas and in the 59th minute Jason Roberts scores and then in the 66th minute captain Richard Hughes struck the equaliser. Norwich's Belgian CF Wesley Sonck (below) grabbed a brace to put Norwich into the 3rd round of the English Cup.

Everyone thought Norwich would get turned over by Spurs and many think that this match Norwich were lucky to beat Tottenham but just look at the stats (below) this shows Norwich ran Tottenham ragged.

Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread

Liverpool's Javier Mascherano and Jermaine Pennant are currently in negotiations with potential new clubs this week.

Pennant should be signing for his new club within the next day or so and Mascherano hopes to complete his transfer by the end of the week.

Pennant will be departing on a cash only basis, whilst Mascherano will be going on a p/e deal. Bayern Munich are looking the likely favourites to sign Mascherano after negotiations appear to have broken down with the Ajax boss.

North End appoint Burrow as manager

Preston North End have revealed the identity of their new manager. Local lad James Burrow takes over from Alan Irvine in the hot seat, which angered some of the Preston faithful. Burrow's first order of business was hiring ex-North End boss Irvine as Assistant Manager.

Preston reserves beaten by Inter

Preston Reserves put up a good fight at Deepdale tonight, losing 3-2 to a strong Inter side.

Despite having hardly any possession, Preston scored the opener, a powerful header from Chris Brown in the 5th minute, after a blazing run and cross from Chris Sedgwick.

cbrown.jpg

Chris Brown began a great night with the opening goal

Inter took 20 minutes to reply, with Portuguese winger Simao scoring a close range effort through the legs of Andy Lonergan. The score remained 1-1 up to half time.

alonergan.jpg

The teams came out for the second half, with Inter having most of the possession, before a ten minute spell where Preston's goalscorer Chris Brown had 6 shots in ten minutes, including a 35 yard scorcher which Julio Cesar only just kept out. The game looked to be heading for a draw when Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic was given too much space outside the box, and his right footed shot eluded Lonergan.

Dejan Stankovic was certainly the best player on the park

Minutes later, it was 3-1, Adriano's shot was parried by Lonergan but only into the hands of Luis Figo, who scored most possibly the easiest goal of his illustrious career.

Plucky Preston pulled one back in the 87th minute, Chris Sedgwick poked home after a goalmouth scramble. He had a great game, and deserved a goal.

At full time, Preston were applauded off the pitch despite the loss. Striker Chris Brown was awarded the Fans MoM award, and is guaranteed a starting place against Sheffield Wednesday.

Gremio back on track... in style!

It was a dream debut for #27 Lucas Caca, a thrashing of epic proportions on the biggest stage of Brazil : A filled Maracana. Fluminense, who have been struggling a lot lately, picked the ball out of their net 8 times, seeing the ball only for 30% of the match, and Caca is thrilled to have cause one of them. The goals came from everywhere, and only Macnelly Torres was given a 9 performance. Perhaps Farine will consider giving Torres a rest, as Stephen Worgu, who only has one appearance so far, got an increase from 80 to 83.

Bordeaux vs Auxerre

Bordeaux lined up against an unmanaged Auxerre team and Bordeaux look to get their 5 straight win under Hunt and that happened with a 2-1 win.

The first goal came from Bordeaux hot young prospect Gabriel Obertan in the 14th minute with the 19 year old scoring a fantastic header after a corner was whipped into the box. This is sure to spark off his career under manager Rhys Hunt.

Auxerre eqaulised in the 25th minute through Adama Coulibaly after his deflected shot flew past the Bordeaux keeper.

Bordeaux captain Alou Diarra put Bordeaux ahead in the 49th minute with a superb volley which flew past the keeper into the top corner, Diarra's goal turned out to be the winner for Rhys Hunt's men.

Wingback crisis not affecting outcome of Vasco match.

Well, this week has been a terrible week for Gremio. Their wingback coach was fired today after a few shocking rating changes. Backup leftback Viveros dropped from 85 to 82 as backup rightback De la Cruz dropped from 84 to 82. As if to add to the pain of Viveros, third choice leftback Brayan Angulo dropped from 82 to 80. De la Cruz, however, was still in the lineup to relieve Paulo Sergio. He performed admirably, actually scoring the 5th goal, his first of the season. Despite a small comeback from Vasco, it was a 5-2 win for Gremio in Porto Alegre.
