Patrick 107
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread NEW MANAGER AT BOLTON Successful premiership club Bolton Wanderers have appointed manager Patrick for season 2 of Gold championship 39. Last season the club finished 5th in the English Premier League and gaining a SMFA Shield place. It will be difficult to achieve a better result in season 2 but with the SMFA Shield I am sure the fans will be pleased with a good SMFA run and a top 10 domestic league finish. Chrississimo 258
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Flamengo 1 - 2 Villarreal Cup Upset Means Falmengo Reach Semi! Despite tonight's defeat, Flamengo have progressed to the SMFA Shield semi final 3-2 on aggregate. Two goals from Ibson in Spain earned the Brazilians an unlikely victory, before a late goal from Josiel in tonight's fixture was enough to see Flamengo progress. This is not the first time Flamengo have caused an upset, as in the previous round they knocked out Hamburger SV 8-5 on aggregate, scoring four goals home and away, to upset one of the favourites. Flamengo will now face Scottish side Hearts as they attempt to go all the way. The other semi final sees Sunderland face competition favourites Juventus. Ian Eltringham 1,324
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Genoa Appoint Ian Eltringham As Their New Manager Genoa have confirmed the appointment of Ian Eltringham as their new manager. The Genoa board believe Eltringham is the man to help the club break into the top 8 in Serie A next season and bring SMFA Shield football to the club. Genoa finished 9th in season 1 and 10th in season 2 so their current squad are not too far away from achieving the clubs ambitions. With talented players such as Carlos Tevez and Matteo Ferrari and the arrival of a strong and committed manager Genoa should make a serious challenge for a top 8 finish next season. Genoa have also confirmed that talented young right back Anthony Vanden Borre has been transfer listed.
Chrississimo 258
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Flamengo 2 - 0 Sunderland Shield Glory for Flamengo Flamengo followed in the foot steps of Manchester City last season in claiming the SMFA Shield. Two goals from on loan Moussa Sow earned a historic victory in his only appearance for the club. The first on 33mins, with a beautiful curling effort and the second on 48mins, a more scruffy effort after a goal mouth scramble. This result rounds off a very successful first season at the club for manager Chris Lewis, after taking over at the beginning of the season from 1 FC Nurenburg, who he guided to the Division 2 title. This season Flamengo claimed runners-up in the league and also victory in the Brazilian Shield, before this weekends glory, which adds more silverware to the trophy cabinet. Chrississimo 258
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Flamengo 5 - 3 Santos Flamengo On Top Last seasons runners-up in the Brazilian league have made an impressive start to the season, and now sit three points clear at the top after thirteen games. Another high scoring affair by a free scoring side, saw a 2-2 scoreline at half time, before Flamengo went on to win 5-3, thanks to a hat-trick from Rocha Josiel (pictured) and one from Ciani and Sculli. Last season's SMFA Shield winners had a shaky start to the season, losing in the Charity Shield final to Sao Paulo on penalties and then only recording a single point in their opening three league games. However, since the second game of the season, Flamengo have not suffered a single defeat and are currently on a run of sixteen games unbeaten, winning thirteen. The side are in the semi final of the Brazilian Shield and have the two leading scorers in the league Josiel (9) and Sculli (7). Manager, Chris Lewis, is delighted with how his team is playing and feels that they have a squad capable of bringing the Brazilian League title to Flamengo in his second season in charge. Werder, dominated the opening minutes with Andrei Arshavin hitting the crossbar with a stunning shot from 20 yards. Pizzaro headed inches over soon after another moment of magic from Arshavin. In the 35th minute Rio Mavuba opened the scoring with a low drive from 18 yards. It was deserved, as Borussia had a modicum of opportunities throught the first half. In the second half Werder started brightly and Arshavin made it 2-0 with a low shot after being put in by former Zenit team mate Danny. Mavuba almost got his second with another long range shot but this one was tipped over by french international Pele. The rest of the game was controlled by Werder and it sees them going into another final under Golden. Mavuba celebrates his opening goal Arshavin celebrates his clinching goal. The travelling support was well up in the numbers. Bowen
Barry MUFC 5,216
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread 1-1 Agg: 3-3, Werder progress on away goals rule. Weserstadion Att: 43,087 Werder Bremen managed by: Barry Golden Bayern Munchen managed by: Lew Storer Werder Bremen have set themselves up for an Champions League Quater Final with Liverpool after over coming Bayern Munich over two legs. 2-2 at the Allianz and 1-1 tonight meant Werder go through on away goals. The game started with a blistering atmosphere from the crowd which encouraged Werder's players to bomb forward and that they did. Negredo making it 1-0 to Werder just 2 minutes gone with a stunning 35 yard drive which went in off the crossbar. Werder's fans went insane as did the players. Great start and Bayern then needing two goals. Bayern pressed after and Ze Roberto shot just over before Alberto Paloschi pulled one back for Bayern with a low drive from outside the box. 1-1 at half time. The second half was much more exciting with Bremen hitting the bar on 49 minutes with Frings blasting a shot from 30 yards. Negredo nearly had his second with a well struck shot cleared off the line by Schweinstiger. Schweinstiger nearly became a hero but somehow missed the chance to give Bayern the lead with a simple tap in, which he horribly messed up. Agbonlahor then nearly scored for Bayern with a low drive from inside the box. Arshavin hit the bar with a well manuverd shot for Werder. Bayern sub Cavani missed a glorious opportunity to win it for Bayern with a free header going harmlessly wide. Werder Progress to the Quater finals. Negredo celebrates his screamer two minutes in. Paloschi celebrates his goal for Bayern The fans of Werder Bremen estatic with the goal. JakeMCFC

Seems like Real Betis is done with all the mess they've been through for yours, so they decided to appoint the tacitian General Gipsy, that's been known for his odd but effective way of training, in addition to a lot of speed and physical games in his tactics, it seems that the misery is going to fade... as glory will rise with General Gipsy, would it be a new born? Barry MUFC 5,216
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread 4-1 German Cup Round 3 Weserstadion Att: 43,087 Werder Bremen managed by: Barry Golden Schalke 04 managed by: Gerry O'Toole Werder Bremen progressed to the Quater Finals of the German Cup last night, beating FC Schalke 04, 4-1 in Bremen. The next game for Werder is against TSG Hoffenheim at home in the league, before the second leg home tie against Liverpool in the Champions League Quater Finals. Werder started brightly, passing and moving around the pitch well. They stormed into a three goal lead in the opening twelve minutes to stun the visitors. Mavuba opened the scoring on seven minutes, with a low drive from inside the area after a pull back, following a run, from the in form Danny. It was 2-0 three minutes later, Mavuba hitting a thiry-yard screamer which sailed in off the crossbar. Impressive season for Mavuba just keeps getting better. Incredibly, two minutes later it was 3-0. Negredo powering a header of the ground and into the roof of the net after a brilliant run and cross from the one and only Andrei Arshavin. Schalke were stunned and couldn't put a pass together to the frustration of their fans. Werder continued to press and Negredo hit the post with a turn and shot after a pass from Danny. Danny himself got the 4th, with a curled shot from the edge of the area, after a run beat two Schalke players. Half time 4-0 and truly magical stuff from Werder. The second half was as exciting except less goals. In the opening minutes it was all Schalke and Kuranyi missed a host of decent chances. His first miss came in the 46 minute, a brilliant pass from Altintop put the talisman in acres of space before he powered a shot wide. Another good move from Altintop resulted in a pull back to the edge of the area, where Kuranyi blazed a shot into row Z. Danny then broke for Werder, chipping Neuer from outside the box, only to hit the crossbar and the ball went out for a goal kick. Altintop had a decent chance of his own, but dragged his shot miserably wide. Danny nearly got his second in the 80th minute, heading an Arshavin cross inches over, capatilising on the main error in Schalkes defence. They pulled a goal back through Maxi Moralez, whos shot cannoned in off the upright, but it was to little to late. Great performance and result from Werder. Negredo celebrates his goal. Danny celebrates his excellent goal Werder's fans in great spirit as always. Chrississimo, Kylan N17 and Bienfait Star

koplfc 8,420
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread Really got the best out of the transfer window these past few days. The highlights being Sunderland midfielder, Adilson Cabral for £2.7m and Summer acquisition at Tolouse - Martin Braithwaite for £3.5m. Also signed Belgium midfielder, Christian Brüls of OGC Nice in a swap deal which saw Spyropoulos and Hope Akpan move the other way. Also signed Basel defender, Fabian Schär for a bargain IMO of Brad Jones and Sam Bryam. A player that is bound to reach 87 by the end of the season. Coming in to replace Brad Jones is Zenit goalkeeper, Yuri Londigin for £2m. And finally a replacement for Sam Bryan came in the form of Christian Gamoa of Rosenborg BK whom I hope will get a handy +2/3 in a swap deal for Pedro Moreira and Felipe Souza. Division 3 here we come! Hopefully this post might get a bit of activity going.
koplfc 8,420
Re: Gold Championship 39 Match Reports/News/Transfers Thread SALOP BRACE TOP FLIGHT DEBUT After 6 seasons, Shrewsbury will tomorrow finally make our top flight debut. These minnows have slowly risen from the basement and are now preparing to make the step up. Moves have already been made during the close seasons with plenty changing at the club. Matri and Pizzi complete moves to Shrewsbury as free agents, coming in for a combined £8m - being seen as a shrewd bit of business by the Shrews. Elsewhere the club completed deals for highly rated Ajax forward, Anwar el Ghazi for £2,5m, beating off competition from Spurs. Francis Coquelin made a £5m move from Lazio, following new Bayer Leverkusen defender, Andre Ramalho. who was signed by Tomlins for £3,5m. 88 rated Romain Alessandrini was next to join from Spurs for £5m, and was followed by Adrien Rabiot and Balde Kieta on loan for the season. Side has certainly improved, and what a cheap squad it looks on paper! Lodygin (88, £2M) - Clyne (89, £4M) Schar (88, Bryam + Brad Jones) Ivanov (87, £8M) M. Alonso (87, £4M) - Alessandrini (88, £5M) Cerro (87, £3.6M) Coquelin (86, £5M) Pizzi (88, £4M) - Movsisyan (88, £3.1M) Matri (88, £4M) Squad looks far stronger than last term too, and with the acquisition of two loanees, which we went the entire of last season without, they should certainly improve our chances of survival. Chairman also gave us a considerable 10,000 extra seats....... where do we put them all!?
