United Clinch Negredo Signing!

negredo_621420.jpg

Manchester United have clinched the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo, with the Spanish hit man signing the dotted line in a deal which sees Atletico Madrid pick up £13.7million. It was highly debateable as to why Man Utd let Mesut Ozil join there partnering team for such a small fee, but it has now been revealed it was more of a swap as United were low in strikers following the signing of Andrei Arshavin, which saw two strikers, Alberto Gilardino and Edin Dzeko, both leave the club aswell as the fact that Ozil was seeking regular first team football, but with the arshavin signing seemingly pushing him further down the midfielding pecking order, he felt Atletico was a good move for him. Manchester United, aswell as Atletico, are expected to vie into the transfer market again in the not too distant future, so keep your eyes closed you preaching scum! :D

In what looked to be another great outing for Fiorentina turned in question marks of what is to come as superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic took a nasty knock around the foot area and has been diagnosed that he will be out for 3 weeks with a stubbed toe.

Fiorentina contiued their savvy style of play making it a very unwelcome atmosphere for the away team, Valencia as la Viola looked to continue their unbeaten streak to 5 games. It didn't take long for the match to have an impact upon it, as Marek Hamsik, in the 12th min scored an easy goal after a dreadful mistake buy Valencia's back 4. Eight minutes later Valencia evened things back up, after marksman Dimitar Berbatov dummied Frey and slid the ball into the goal, a clean finish. From that point on, the match was completely dominated from the home side as Affelay off a miss-hit shot put the ball under Akinfeev, then only 6 mins later Valencia's luck worsened after a weird angled shot buy Ronaldo took a deflection and went it, to pile onto matter 4 mins after that Arteta put away a lovely finish, showing composure, leading his side with a 4-1 scoreline at the half.

The second half proved no love for Valencia either, despite players like David Silva and Hernanes trying to create openings, 7 mins into the hald Affelay made it a double for himself, after a corner well-placed by Arteta found his head. Despite la Viola running the match, all turmoil spread after Ibra went down, then seemed to struggle to even blance himself on his feet, looking in pain, eventually being taken off, yet despite not having a goal, put in a MOM performance running the Valencia back 4 ragged and setting up numerous goals. Lastly in the 72nd minute Hamsik ended the goal spree in dazzling fashion with a screamer from outside, roofing the top corner of the goal, no chance for Akinfeev. Final score 6-1 to Fiorentina.

Manager Kylan was extremely pleased about the result, at the end of the match had this to say, along with the Ibra injury situation and rumours that Fiorentina where interested in some Valencia players;

Great outing from the lads, the consistency is starting to show, they earned, deserved the win, I enjoyed the performance thoroughly. Hamsik and Affelay, Arteta showed our depth in scoring, that not only Ibra and Ronaldo are our main contributors. With regards to Ibra, after speaking to the physio's and team doctors, we can confirm he has a stubbed toe, which will leave him out the lineup for around 3 weeks, which in not the greatest of news at all for us, especially as all was clicking for us. Lastly about these rumours swirling we attempted to motion a move for David Silva and a few other players is false, we did engage in conversation abut a possible deal, i spoke with there manager, Ken, he said he did not want to sell, and converstation ended there, thats all on the matter.

Marek%20Hamsik1.jpgIbrahim%20Afellay.jpg

Both Afellay and Hamsik showed the depth to la Viola's squad, both scoring a double. Hamsik and Afellay have both been transfer targets for numerous teams over the years, yet Fiorentina have managed to hang onto them, clearly that faith is paying off now. :)

City On Fire!

Manchester City Boss Danny King has said that his team will push for a top two finish, when you have players like Frei scoring goals, aswell as Guiza, and rossi laying the balls through and picking up assists your team is always going to do well, they are doing me proud, i think i will keep this team i ahve with no selling players, only adding, cos the team spirit is rather good and the team are all getting on and playing for eachother and playing for the fans so that is a key asset in my team performing well this season!

FIORENTINA NEWS:

Lost 1-0 to Jack's Udinese, he had two players sent off (Pepe, Pato), team still was'nt able to capitalise, thus ending the 5 game unbeaten streak. :( Ibra did not play due to his 3 week injury, so far any match i have'nt included or had him in the XI this season, Fiorentina has either drawn or loss, just goes to show how much more important than David Villa he has become.:)

Cavenaghi returns to Atletico!

cavenaghi.jpg

Fernando Cavenaghi has made a shock return to Atletico Madrid, a season after he left the club for Mexican side Guadalajara. Cavenaghi joins for £12.7 million and fills the gap left by Alvaro Negredo who joined Manchester United a few weeks ago. The Argentinian international scored 14 goals in 30 appearances in his previous spell with Atletico and will this time be hoping to form a successful partnership with Liedson who currently has 11 goals in his first 12 games for the club.

However, it is believed that Cavenaghi was only re-signed because of the interest in Michael Owen who is also available at the moment. Owen had been subject to interest from Fiorentina and Atletico for some time, but now his transfer ban has run out a number of other clubs have entered the race to sign the 29 year old. Atletico have withdrawn interest though, and were delighted to get Cavenaghi for a price that will be just as cheap as Owen's.

Also added to the squad this week has been Rodrigo Possebon for £350k. The Manchester United youngster is out on loan to Sporting Braga this year and Atletico are hoping he will be able to gain more first team football there.

And finally for the transfer news, Atletico are set to complete a 2 part deal with Manchester City tomorrow which sees Ederson and Javier Mascherano move to the City of Manchester Stadium. The first part was completed today which saw midfielder Stephen Ireland move to Atletico for £4 million + Ederson. And tomorrow, "Masch" will move to City for £7.7 million with Marouane Fellaini and Alan Dzagoev joining Atletico.

Meanwhile, Atletico continue their push for promotion with wins over Zenit and Man City in the past week, as well as a 2-2 draw with leaders Bayern. 1 point is the difference at the top, with Atletico 7 points clear of 3rd placed Tottenham Hotspur. With 9 games to go, anything can happen though so Atletico will be hoping for a win over Spurs on Thursday to increase the gap between the sides.

Liverpool 0 Tottenham 1

patrick+helmes.jpg

Star man Patrick Helmes scored his first Tottenham goal in a 1-0 win at Anfield. The striker picked up an injury on his debut and has missed the last few games but marked his return in style heading a corner after 64 minutes. Tottenham will be changing the team for the trip to Atletico Madrid to try and get a win in Spain. Atletico currently lead Tottenham by 7 points with only 9 games to go and Spurs simply have to win if they are going to gain promotion.

Atletico Madrid 0 Tottenham 1

67885_SOCHAUX_ERDING_190508.jpg

Debutant Mevlut Erding scored a vital goal to give Tottenham a win at promotion rivals Atletico Madrid. It now closes the gap to just 6 points between the two sides and it will go down to the wire with 8 games left this season. Ultimately it was Tottenham's new attacking style that troubled the Spaniard's with Patrick Helmes, Bafetimbi Gomis and Mevlut Erding all starting upfront and the goal came after just 11 minutes. Gomis played Erding through on goal and he beat keeper Rene Adler with a composed finish. Towards the end of the game Fernando Cavenhagi recieved a red card for dragging down Helmes when he was clean through meaning he will be suspended for the next 3 games (hopefully aiding Tottenham's promotion push). :D

United Cruise Past Hapless La Viola

At Old Trafford, in front of over 72,000 people, we witnessed an entertaining encounter overnight. The visitors were spanish side, Fiorentina who had been in good form recently. Th match was always going to be an exciting one and we did not have to wait long before the opening goal. In his debut for the club after signing from Atletico Madrid about a week and a half ago, Alvaro Negredo acknowledged his transfer fee by beating the offside trap with a brilliantly timed run and took advantage of slack Fiore defending. 1-0 9'. The rest of the half was free-flowing football by both sides, with Hatem Ben Arfa and Giampaolo Pazzini missing chances for La Viola and Ribas Diego missing a sitter for United.

When the 2nd half began, La Viola started the half in fine style by coming ever so close in the 48th minute as Sissoko narrowly missed. They were made to pay for that as Alvaro Negredo netted his 2nd on debut to give the home side a commanding advantage. A 56th minute moment of madness from Patrice Evra had some worrying emotions on the United faithful, as the Frenchman was sent off for a stupid dive. La Viola still couldnt find any sort of rythm and failed to capitalise on the extra man and russian superstar Andrey Arshavin made sure of the win with a classive 76th minute strike which put paid to any chance of a Fiorentina revival.

Red cards: Patrice Evra

Goalscorers: Alvaro Negredo (2), Andrey Arshavin

Im very happy with the lads. They played well tonight and other than the silly piece of play by patrice, it was a great game from our perspective. Were right in the hunt for a top three finish which would be absolutely wonderful considering where we were about 7/8 games ago. Negredo was sublime tonight. He really justified his transfer fee and I think after this performance Atletico Madrid may just be wishing they hadnt sold him because he was excellent tonight, the real dangerman on the park i thought. Arshavin was good as well, he is beginning to enrol into the side now after having a few games to adjust to the team and hes really showing what hes capable of which is promising.
