Re: la Résistance (Official thread)

I didn't know Arango had moved to Monchengladbach until he dropped so I needed someone better than him. You can keep Elia. Carlos Eduardo is where its at George. :P:D

Don't want too much depth or I'll end up having half the squad getting unhappy through lack of games when that happens  So you can have him ;)

Cavenaghi is being sold for a 2nd time, re-joining Bordeaux for £12.9m. This time, I won't be bringing him back when his TB is up! :P

Brazilian sale is on also :D Muriqui (85), Sandro (86), Jucilei (85), Souza (84), and Wallyson (81) can all leave for cash. No point keeping as I'll never play them and they've had decent rises:o

Camp+Nou.jpg

The stage was well set and lit-up with a vibrant atmosphere as Barcelona's Nou Camp played host to the 'LR Coupe Finale' between two 'darkhorse' sides not many even would have thought to be the last two remaining, Celtic VS Udinese.

4094135406_bb6696eece_m.jpg4093370387_fa38bba58d_m.jpg

Thousands of supporters from all over Scotland and Italy attended the Camp Nou to show their support, in hopes their team would walk away the victor.

Going into the 'LR finale' both Celtic and Udinese had only met one time prior, with the Bianconeri side coming away with the win in that match, however with something much more than 3 points in the league on the line this time both sides looked to come out blazing, showing no mercy to the opposition and not letting the occasion get to them. This truly was a case of which team was to fulfill their 'Cinderella story' and utter heartbreak for one of these 'darkhorse' teams whom nobody would've suspected to make it to the final shatter into tears.

The first half began with an electric ambiance around the Nou Camp, both the Celtic faithful supports, and The black and white striped Udinese fans breaking out chants and song of splendor to get both squads ready for the occasion. Both Celtic and Udinese started off with what seemed to be their strongest 11 players, however some will question Celtic manager JBK's decision to leave out youngster Marcus Berg, who is quick and agile, someone who could certainly create problems for the Bianconeri's 'back 4'. Also Udinese's Jack Dimmick, leaving two exemptions from their starting squad, in the form of 'fan fave', goal scoring machine, Antonio Di Natale and veteran midfielder, D'Agostino who brings a balance of leadership to the club.

Despite the exclusion of some players from both sides it didn't take long for one of these teams to make their mark in the match as only six minutes into the match, with upwards of 90,000 screaming fans, Udinese sent their supporters into a frenzy after the talented Gokhan Inler, using his great dribbling skills darted by a nervy Celtic defence, then unleashing a thunder of a shot past Celtic's towering keeper, Boruc, 1-nil to Udinese. From there things only got worse for the Scottish side as only five minutes later Udinese, passing the ball around in a quick-direct manner, leaving Celtic scrambling all over the place, found a quick dashing Simone Pepe down the wing, who managed to get by two Celtic defender, then unleashed a shot from outside the '18, finding the top corner of the back of the goal, leaving Boruc standing still, head in hands, yelling at his defenders. From there on Celtic seemed to be even more flustered, not being able to get the ball out of there own half, as Inler once again found a chance another goal, just glimpsing the ball wide as Boruc managed to get a palm on it, even fullback, Zapata decided to join in on the clinical attacking assault being put on my Udinese, however taking a feeble effort on goal, missing way wide. The only way Celtic seemed to be able to stop the barrage of attacks was by fouling, whereby Fernando Meira saw the first card of the match, seeing yellow, yet even that didn't calm thins down as the sensational youngster that is Radamel Falcao, came in one-on-one with Boruc, calmly put the ball past the Polish giant, but not able to beat the post. Things where looking ever-so grim for the Glasgow side, yet finally a glimmer of hope being down 2-nil happened as Josue, off of a McGeady free-kick, pulled off a sensational acrobatic over-head scissor kick, scoring, making it 2-1, which would be the score heading into the half, giving the Tims a chance of a comeback.

Cue the second half, where despite being down 2-1, the Celtic supporters are still full of life singing songs as loud as they can to edge on their side, while the Udinese fans sing renditions of "Championay... championay.. ole... ole... ole". Celtic finally seem alot more confident in the 2nd half as already within three minutes, Cabanas almost scores, but puts the shot just inches wide, calming the nerves of Udinese goalkeeper, Handanovic. Clearly after that incident, Udinese felt like they would feel more at ease if they get one more goal, inspiring Pepe to almost come ever so close to scoring again, this time hitting the post off a curling shot. This half was definitely becoming less one-sided than the first half, with both teams countering one another and opening up play, as now Celtic went on the attack with Irishman, McGeady as he slipped a shot just past the near post, but on the other side of the goal, then an effort from Cabanas to lob the ball over Handanovic went begging. Finally thereafter we had our first moment of controversy as after a challenge by Andreas Beck on Yakubu which it appeared Yakuba had 'dived' on, was awarded the foul, and Beck yellow carded, Dzsudszak who was having a good game made a silly, childish move, by being so infuriated, not realizing that his team was in a cup final, up by one goal, decided to have a go at referee Martin Ingvarsson, and refused to give the ball over to Celtic, to the point Ingvarsson wasn't going to have any of it, giving out a straight RED CARD to Dzsudszak, who had to be escorted away, refusing to leave the pitch as well. This looked like Celtic's big chance, with still 30mins to play and being a man up on Udinese, but a goal down. Udinese immediately held a more defensive formation one which seemed to trouble Celtic as the game became stalemate to the point where Celtic couldn't break the Italian side down. Finally the chances came though, one threw Celtic 'fan-fave' McGeady, who smashed the crossbar on a wicked shot from outside the box, the next through Josue who just lacked an end product on his finish. Then it looked like the match was all over as Pepe who was sublime today for Udinese had another chance begging on a run down the flank where he again ended up hitting the post, leaving the wing-man cringing. Finally it seemed like the match was all but over, Celtic supporters many still hoping for that last gasp goal, which looked like it was going to come from the Yak, who is having a stellar season, but no where to be found in this game up until now as he takes the ball with one last desperation shot from what seems to be about 25 yards out, but Handanovic comes up with a huge save parrying the ball, leaving Yakubu ruing the effort, where after the whistle blows, sending the Udinese fans into a huge frenzy of roaring and cheering as they've won the LR Coupe!

2-1 Final score to Udinese! They routed Celtic today and both sides will be feeling they had many more chances than what the scoreline tells. Yakubu was so ever quiet in this match, something JBK will be disappointed with, whereas Jack will be delighted that his small Udinese slayed some of the dragons to get here to the grand finale and come away with the win, with a superb out by Inler who was all over the pitch like a madman, scoring a goal, along with Pepe who did a number of Celtic's defence, was uncontrollable on the wings and could have scored 3 goals, what a game! Udinese once again... are THE CHAMPIONS winning the 'LR COUPE'.

UDINESE - la Résistance COUPE CHAMPIONS!

udinese_players_celeb_zenit.jpg

The 'Cinderella story' is complete! Udinese winning the LR Coupe, leaving Celtic heartbroken, celebrations from the Udinese side a moment that will always be remembered in Biancioneri's and 'la Résistance' history, the true story of an underdog, congrats Jack, unlucky JBK.

FC Schalke got a 1-1 draw against Tottenham yesterday. Before the game there was a 1 minute of silence to remember Robert Enke. Carlos Tevez scored on 53rd minute and then Tottenham equalized on 54th. Carlos Tevez got the MoM award. Schalke had better possession, more total shots and more corners than Tottenham. Wilson Palacios and Roy Beerens got booked. Stephen Ireland picked up a bruised thigh and will miss 3 weeks for Schalke on sidelines. Lars Sohnwaldt: ''The death of Robert Enke didn't affected our team in a negative manner and we couldn't play that good, but i hope that we can get ourselves together against Udinese. Our gameplay was pretty good, but we didn't realise our chances and so we scored only 1 goal, but we could have done much better than that. Rest In Peace Robert Enke, we will be missing you.'' Lars Sohnwaldt was very emotional after the press conference.

FC Schalke win another team with many goals. This time Udinese 5-1. Many people wasn't there to support Udinese, only 15,709 people went to see the game, probably many watched it from TV. Antonio Valencia scored the first goal of the game on 19th minute that shocked Udinese, Valencia has scored 4 goals in 8 games, thats pretty good for a winger. When Patrick Helmes scored on 53rd then the goals started to flood for Schalke. Just 2 minutes later Jose Maria Guti scored another one for Schalke. 5 minutes after Guti's scoring got Fabian Ernst to the scoresheet. Udinese managed to get their only goal of the game on 72nd by Simone Pepe and then 4 minutes after Pepe's scoring answered Tevez to his goal. Gökhan Inler got sent off on 32nd minute, Fabio Quagliarella and Patrick Helmes got booked. Manuel Neuer was absolutely outstanding on the goal by saving almost all the shots that came on goal, only conceded one goal. Schalke were dominating with possession, Udinese had 35%, Schalke 65%. Schalke had a total of shots 21, on target 9. Udinese had total 9 shots, all they were on target. Udinese had 10 corners against Schalke 4, but Udinese didn't use their chances. Lars Sohnwaldt: ''That was a very good game, I didn't think that we are going to win them with so big goal margin, but that was nice that we scored 5 goals, that means that we won't waste our chances and score as many goals as we can get. I've had a pretty good start with Schalke this far, 1 lose, 1 draw and 5 wins. When I started managing Schalke then they were on last place, now we are far from that and we are on 7th place and we are pretty close to go past Tottenham and Udinese if we keep our winning ways. I can see that my players have took themselves together by Enke's death.''

Hmmmm.... you could maybe try to offer Thierry Henry to Real Madrid in LR. Chris/Noir is French' date=' born there too I think, although living in USA now and also an Arsenal supporter... so he's probably loving Henry right about now after the final play-off match. ;)[/font']

The hand of Fiorentina?

fgffhfh.jpg

Fiorentina have been criticised after evidence of was found of them cheating to earn a late equaliser against Inter on Sunday. Hatem Ben Arfa had given Fiorentina the lead in the game before 2 goals from Andreas Ivanschitz put the away side in front. But Cristiano Ronaldo controversially equalised from a corner to rescue a point to keep their promotion hopes alive. As clearly shown in the picture above, Ronaldo in fact punched the ball into the net, a move that wasn't seen by Icelandic referee Johannes Valgeirsson. With this evidence now found, a ban must surely be handed to Ronaldo. It is believed that the Fiorentina manager had nothing to do with the incident and was later seen to slap Ronaldo after the final whistle.
