Louis 2,237
Re: Gold Championship 51 Match Report Thread La Viola march on strong! Fiorentina 3-1 Napoli Last night top of the table Fiorentina welcomed Napoli to the Artemio Franchi, 46,990 fans turned up for the game, and La Viola manager Louis Mattis wanted his side to keep there 100% record up tonight. Fiorentina 57% possession, with a good 17 out of 23 shots on target. Fiorentina could of been 2-0 up within the first two minute, first from a Franco Semioli chip which just clipped the top of the crossbar, and then from a Marco Donadel header which went inches wide. The first goal of the match came in the 22nd minute, a mix up in the Napoli defence allowing winger Mario Santana to poke home. Zdravko Kuzmanovic could of put La Viola 2-0 up on 32 minutes if it wasn't for the Napoli keeper making a fantastic save. The score was 1-0 to Fiorentina at the break. (Mario Santana put La Viola 1-0 up at half time) The second half began well for Fiorentina and they doubled there lead in the 56th minute through Adrian Mutu showing great composure to finish. La Viola could of made in 3 on 68 minutes, but another great save from the Napoli keeper denied Fiorentina. There looked to be a glimmer of hope for Napoli to snatch a draw when striker Ezequiel Lavezzi hit the ball early, leaving the Fiorentina keeper stranded. But all hopes of a draw were crushed in the 89th minute when La Viola bagged there third of the night through Zdravko Kuzmanovic hitting a powerful shot off the post and into the box of the net to seal another victory for Fiorentina. Fiorentina manager Louis Mattis had this to say following his team's win: "Another fantastic win for the boys out there today, and if we can keep this winning form going, i think we will have a good chance at winning the league this season". (Goals from Mutu and Kuzmanovic sealed the victory for Fiorentina) Aza Bolam
