LIVERPOOL and Arsenal are set to battle it out for French midfield superkid Paul Pogba, 15, from Le Havre according to todays Sun newspaper.

I don't know much about this "superkid" but he could be a future star in the making.

Also picked up by tribal football

Any French talent scouts know anything about the lad, as I am sure he is someone to keep an eye on during the months ahead?

Re: Paul Pogba

Obviously not picked up by the bigger clubs yet but the under 16 player got on the score sheet for France in the under 16 Aegean Cup.

Re: Paul Pogba

This is only gossip,

Sir Alex Ferguson has seen off rival interest from Arsenal to clinch the signing of 16-year-old Le Harve starlet Paul Pogba - a fee, based on appearances and compensation to his French side, has yet to be set.

Full Story..

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has snapped up French midfield starlet Paul Pogba - under the nose of Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger.

Ferguson has tied up a deal to land the 16-year-old youth international who plays for crack nursery club Le Havre and the kid has opted for United ahead of the Gunners.

It is a major signing triumph for Ferguson who has been unable to dominate the French market in the past few years because of Wenger's name and contacts.

However United have been working on the deal for months and the defensive midfielder, a regular in the national under-16 side, will join their list of talented kids.

Ferguson is working overtime on recruiting the next generation while also chasing the double at first team level, with Pogba's signature now imminent.

Pogba can leave Le Havre in the summer - with the fee to be based on appearances and compensation on his 'education' at the Ligue 1 outfit.

Re: Paul Pogba

Manchester United legend Arthur Albiston has been extremely impressed with Paul Pogba’s first outings for the Premier League champions’ Under-18 side, so much so, he has compared the controversial youngster to Arsenal great Patrick Vieira. Praise indeed.

Paul Pogba

D.O.B: 15/03/1993 (17)

Position: Central Midfield

Plays for Reserves/Academy

French U17 International/ U16 Captain

History & Background

Paul Pogba' date=' the young United player, is an exciting midfielder who possesses all the qualitites needed to become a top player. In his short time at the club he has impressed many with his power, passing ability and eye for goal. The tall Frenchman, signed from Le Havre, joined the United Academy in October 2009 in a widely publicized move from French club. United were accused of poaching the midfielder by the Le Havre President, similar to the Kakuta allegations at Chelsea, after they offered his parents £85k each for the transfer, with a £4k a week contract on his 17th birthday. United strongly denied the accusations, saying they acted properly, just as they have done before when attracting the likes of Pique, Macheda and Van Velzen from their respective academies (Barcelona, Lazio & Ajax). The situation has now been resolved, after the threats of a FIFA investigation, with a confidential agreement between the clubs that will presumably involve Le Havre receiving a large fee upon his first team debut.

Hailing from the outskirts of Paris, the kid has been a regular at all levels of the French youth teams and comes from the same well respected French academy which produced Charles N’Zogbia, Jean-Alain Boumsong and Lassana Diarra. The head of the academy, Frederic Lipka, said he was “very efficient at a very young age [with] the quality of his technique and his size… Straight away, I thought, when he reached 17 or 18, he would be ready to step up to the top level.” It was this overall coolness and ability which led to his introduction into the France U 16 team at just 14, before he went on to captain the side. Gaining a reputation around Europe, the midfielder was highly coveted but United became a favourite for him when Ferguson visited the family in person, saying where Pogba would be in five/ ten years- rather than the more distant monetary approach taken by Chelsea & Arsenal- and the rest is history.
