Rangers get 3 points at home to Hibernian and go 3rd in the table.

Rangers last night showed their true class in beating Hibernian at home 3-0. After suffering a defeat to Deportivo on Friday night Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk feared that he's side wouldn't all be match fit and would get a the 3 points that was needed. After just over a week to pick he's Rangers side to play Kilmarnock in the Semi Finals of the Scottish Sheild Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk has this to say "I will choose a quality and strong side that will help us progress to the Semi Final's, I am sure that our side will make it to the Final and if we do we then play the winner out of Hibernian or Falkirk."

After just 3 minutes gone David Weir put Rangers 1-0 up after showing he's experience the 38 year old finished like an on form striker lobbing the ball over the keeper.

A minute after half time David Weir then made it 2-0 and he's 2nd goal of the game after the Hibernian goalkeeper made a mistake an easy finish for Weir and this put Rangers in a commanding position.

15 minutes from time Bakari Kone sealed the victory over their title chasing rivals and Kone scoring he's 7th goal after signing from Marseille for £17 million.

Hertha continued there fine run of form coming back from being 1-0 down to secure a 2-1 win at home to Hannover Thomas Ince said this "I am happy to keep our winning momentum going after winning away at Bayern Munchen a home win was excactly what we wanted to follow it up with"

Hannover took a suprise lead on the 35th minute when Jan SCHLAUDRAFF slottted the ball home from the edge of the area.

It went quiet then the half time whistle was blown with Hertha fans wondering how they were still behind in a game where they dominate posession shots and corners.

In the 2nd half Hertha came out full of passion and determined to make up for there poor shooting in the first half and on the 53rd minute Hauche slotted home the equalizer.

On the 70th minute the deciding goal was scored when Rafael headed home after a inswinging corner from Ebert.

Celtic 0-1 Rangers

Last night Rangers were celebratin an emphatic win over Scottish Title chasers Celtic in a classic encounter. After just a 1-0 win Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk calls he's side lucky after numerous Celtic misses witch should of been 100% goals. Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk had this so say to SSN after the game "A brilliant win see's us go up to 2nd in the league table 2 points ahead of 3rd place Celtic. I believe that my side will keep up this current form and go out and beat Deportivo la Coruna in the SMFA Sheild Round 3 2nd Leg tommorow, we are currently 2-1 down but the 2nd leg is at the Ibrox and there is expected to be around 51,000 football fans will be their Friday night to cheer on their teams and I feel confident that my squad will snatch a 2-0 win."

The only goal of the Old Firm Derby came from Forward Steven Naismith on the 73rd minute after thundering the ball in to the Celtic goal and it left Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc shellshocked as the east stand of Celtic Park went wild.

Celtic had their chances but they did not take them after a mistake at the back by Sasa Papac saw Shaun Maloney 1 on 1 with Allan McGregor but he sterred wide with a awful shot witch turned out to be Celtic's last attck on the 85th minute.

Dynamo Kyiv

Last night Dynamo Kyiv came up against the third of the six hard games Kyiv have faced and have to face. On paper, this looked the hardest, as Mattis faced arch rival Winston in a top of the table clash. If Kyiv won tonight, they would move within three points of CSKA, but if they lost, CSKA would extended there lead to six points. Dynamo got off to the perfect start as they were 2-0 up within four minutes, first Atanda Ayila Yussuf scoring on two minutes, and then Andriy Nesmachnyi bagging Kyiv's second. CSKA pulled a goal back through Aaron Ramsey, but Dynamo made sure of the three points when Nesmachnyi bagged his second goal of the night to seal the victory for Kyiv.

Fortune Favours the Brave?

393_1190839464.gif

Success in the transfer market

As the new season was about to get under way, Borussia Monchengladbach got a manager in the experienced Sheva. Former manager Hans Meyer was shown the door after his poor season with the Die Fohlen. They did, however, manage to avoid the drop. Sheva was intent on making Borussia Monchengladbach title contenders, but to most, this was a laughing matter. The manager however had faith. He needed some quality in his team.

He made two key signings early on. Argentine winger Pablo Barrientos signed for a bargain fee of 5.5 million. He was followed by Tranquillo Barnetta for a club record fee of 18 million from Leverkusen. 23 year old Argentine midfielder, Nicolas Bertolo was also signed from Banfield.

Spanish international, Alvaro Arbeloa was next as he signed from Liverpool that saw Michael Bradley go the other way. Another key signing in an attempt to strengthen a rather weak defence that leaked many goals last season. Uruguayan, Walter Gargano, also signed from Napoli which made him the second most expensive player to sign for the Die Fohlen. His signature cost the club 15 million. Other key signings were Ola Toivonen and most recently Gregory Van Der Wiel. Their hunt for a goalkeeper ended when the manager managed to sign Mexican keeper, Jose Corona, from Tecos for a whopping fee of 10 million. Eventually, the only players to survive from last season were Marko Marin,Tobias Levels, Alexander Baumjohann, Patrick Paauwe and Rob Friend. Although it seems that the latter two are not a part of Sheva's future plans.

Arbeloa,Gargano,Barrientos and Barnetta were all signed to make the Die Fohlen title challengers.

Success on the pitch

A great start to the season sees Sheva's men sit at the top of the league table. However, SoP's Werder Bremen are only three points behind. A 1-0 loss to VFL Bochum on the 18th reduced their lead at the top of the table and spoilt their unbeaten run that stretched for 9 league games. The highlights of Monchengladbach's season were a 6-3 thrashing of a full strength Bayern Munich in the league and a 4-1 thumping of Werder Bremen in the German Shield with the reserves. Other impressive performances were against a neglected Hannover in the league and cup which saw Monchengladbach put 13 goals past them in 2 games.

Jose Corona has been solid in goals. The Mexican has only let in 14 goals in 17 games. Partly due to a solid defence too, formed by Arbeloa,Pablo Amo and Rodrigo Mancha. Rob Friend also found his form and he is Monchengladbach's top scorer with 7 goals. Barnetta and Gargano, who cost the club a whopping 33 million, haven't disappointed either and are proving to be money very well spent. The midfield duo has 6 goals and 8 assist between them.

Marko Marin staying put

Despite continual interest from big clubs, the manager has said that the 19 year old German International is staying put at the club. Marin has only managed 8 appearances this season as the start of his season was spoilt by a bad injury. He is likely to make his comeback today against Schalke after being sidelined for 10 games.

Dynamo Kyiv

After the fantastic victory against CSKA Moskva in the week, Dynamo Kyiv manager Louis Mattis knew if a victory tonight for Kyiv, and a defeat for CSKA would take them to the top of the league, and that's exactly what happened as Dynamo beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2, and CSKA lost 3-4 to Colin Barker's Amkar. Donetsk opened the scoring, but that lead was short lived as Kyiv scored six minutes later through Artem Milevskiy. But Shakhtar retook the lead straight away and gave themselves a 2-1 lead at the break. Dynamo turned things around in the second half with goals from Oleh Husev and Tiberiu Ghioane giving Dynamo Kyiv a 3-2 victory and taking them to the top of the table.

Monchengladbach stay top!

393_1190839464.gif

Monchegladbach welcomed Schalke to Borussia-Park hoping to keep their unbeaten home run intact. They managed to overcome the German heavyweights with a good 2-0 victory. They are now 4 points ahead of VFL Wolfsburg who climbed to second after Werder Bremen lost to VFL Bochum.

Sheva's starting lineup only sprung one surprise and many fans were disappointed to see Tranquillo Barnetta on the bench. The Swiss international has been a pleasure to watch all season and has undoubtedly been one of Mon'bach's top performers this season. Argentine, Pablo Barrientos assumed his role on the right side while Marin made his return on the left flank.

Schalke started the game well creating many opportunities but their strikers couldn't manage to put anything past Corona. Brazilian centre back, Rodrigo Mancha had some trouble handling Kevin Kuranyi but Alvaro Arbeloa covered up brilliantly on some occasions and Jose Corona was forced to make some great saves. The breakthrough however came Mon'bach's way as Marin made a central run following a great through ball from Walter Gargano and slammed home. Very well finished by the youngster who was delighted with his first goal of the season. All smiles for the manager as well, seeing one of his most valuable assets making a great comeback from injury. It remained 1-0 till half time.

Only 5 minutes after the restart, the home crowd went into an ecstasy and the away fans were hushed. Walter Gargano, who set Marin up for his goal earlier, received the ball outside the box and he delightfully curled the ball past Manuel Neuer. The Uruguayan picking up his third goal of the season with a bit of pure genius. Tight work at the back from Arbeloa and some more great saves from Corona earned Mon'bach another clean sheet and another home win. Corona was awarded MoM for his stunning performance. Gargano and Arbeloa were the other two players that really shone.

Rangers 3-1 Kilmarnock

Rangers last night cruised in to the Scottish Sheild final after thrashing Kilmarnock at home 3-1 to progress and play Falkirk in the final. Since their win Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk has placed bids on several players who are yet to be named until they have completed their moves. After a 1-0 win in the last round against Inverness Caledonian Thistle Rangers ensured this time that it was a clear deserved win as over 51,000 football fans witnessed last night.

Rangers took the lead after 27 minutes when a cross by Pedro Mendes was hammered in to the back of the net by Northern Irish midfielder Steven Davis to put Rangers heads high in this tough cup tie against the current league leaders.

Rangers then sat back and in the end conceded a goal after a mess up in the defence allowed Kilmarnock forward Ivan Milicevix to tap home and send the 7,000 Kilmarnock traveling fans going wild.

On the 77th minute Rangers restored there league in a tense Ibrox after a long ball down the line by Steven Naismith found 23 year old Charlie Adam to make he's way in to the Kilmarnock penatly area and slot home neatly and 44,000 Rangers supporters were on their feet applading a well worked goal.

Then 9 minutes later it was that man again Charlie Adam who was clear inside the Kilmarnock area to finish neatly and ensured that Rangers are through to the Scottish Sheild Final and all of Ibrox were put out of there misery when the final whistle went.

After the game SSN caught up with Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk as he had this to say on the brilliant victory against the current league leaders Kilmarnock "I am very pleased and hope we go on to win the Sheild and bring it to Ibrox where it belongs. I have placed some bids on players but I will not name as they are not yet 100% sure about joining the club. I hope we can get 3 points from our next league game against Falkirk who we play in the cup final so we can have some preparation for the Sheild final."

Re: Gold Championship 53/Match Reports/Transfers.

Monchengladbach maintain stunning home form.

393_1190839464.gif

Monchengladbach remain unbeaten at home and made it nine wins from 11 home games yesterday against VFB Stuttgart. Sheva surprised many when he decided to field a weaker squad. Brazilian Duo Fabricio and Willians were given their debuts in Left Back and Centre Midfield respectively. Walter Gargano and Pablo Amo made way. Patrick Paauwe was not named in the lineup either and debutant Marc Wilson replaced the Dutch veteran in the DM role. Chilean, Daud Gazale, and Romanian, Marius Pena formed the strike partnership.

Gazale gave Mon'bach the perfect start when he managed to take advantage of a mix up at the back. Debutant Fabricio was warned early on after lunging in and taking out his man. In the 20th minute, the other debutant, Willians almost sent the home crowd wild but he saw his vicious strike rattle the crossbar. Mon'bach continued to dominate and 8 minutes later, Barnetta managed to hit the post after a great move. Fabricio got into his stride just after the half hour mark as the full back made a great run and almost went all the way only to see his crisp strike go agonisingly wide. At the stroke of half time Gazale managed to get his second to put Mon'back 2-0 up as he once again managed to take advantage of a miss communication at the back. Two gifts for the Chilean forward. As the players walked off the field, Sheva gave his Brazilian duo pats on the back. We might see great things from the pair.

Stutggart was looking a much better team after the break and Hitzlesperger forced Corona into a brilliant save. Marin recieved a booking after a reckless tackle in the 50th minute. Pablo Barrientos was provided with a gift but he saw his shot fly over the bar. He couldn't believe he missed an open goal. Changes were made at the hour mark as Sheva used all his subs. Rojas, Barnetta and Pena were replaced by Pablo Amo, Baumjohann and Asamoah. The latter two also making their debuts. Baumjohann made an immediate impact on the game as he set up Marc Wilson to make it 3-0 to the league leaders. Corona made some fine saves during the last half hour but there was nothing he could do about Juliano Belletti's strike. Full time whistle was blown and the home fans went home happy again. Final score 3-1.

Rangers 5-1 Falkirk

Rangers last night won another game in the Scottish Division 1 and this time it was against Scottish Sheild Finalists Falkirk who did not proove to be a strong footballing side after being thrashed 5-1 at Ibrox in front of 51,000 fans. With the Sheild final just around the corner manager Jake Alexiuk has said this will be a good game to get to know how Falkirk play their football and wether they will give Rangers a hard Sheild final. With over 6,000 Falkirk fans expected to turn up to Ibrox and 45,000 Rangers supporters this is just a preperation for their final in just over 1 weeks time.

The Rangers supporters were cheering just after 3 minutes when Spanish Forward Javier Nacho Novo ran ahead of the tough Falkirk defence to nicely slot home and get Rangers off to a flyer.

Rangers lead lasted just 4 minutes after the ball was squared to Carl Finnigan on the edge of the box who outstandingly bent the ball round the great Rangers defence to leave Allan McGregor shell shocked by the great piece of work by the English 22 year old.

It took Rangers just 6 minute to retain their lead and Kenny Miller was the scorer with a rare start for Rangers to put Rangers 2-1 ahead after shocking Falkirk defending.

On the 18th minute Kenny Miller recieved the ball again and this time he had to some some work and after running on to a Steven Davis through ball he slowly slotted the ball in to the right hand corner of the Falkirk goal.

5 minutes after half time a rare goal from Kevin Thompson made it 4-1 for Rangers and game over for Falkirk as Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk ran over to Kevin Thompson to applaud him on a well worked goal by Rangers after finish very neatly and calmly.

On the 61st minute Kenny Miller then made it 5-1 and a hat trick for him after a terrific performance by Miller and was a well deserved goal after a ball looped over by Nacho Novo Miller then brought it down on he's chest and then to slot it past the busy Robert Olejnik in the Falkirk goal.

After another amazing performance by Rangers we caught up with Rangers manager Jake Alexiuk after the game and this is what he had this to say to us on how he's side played again tonight "We played immense again, outstanding all over the pitch and hopefully we can go in to the Scottish Sheild final and the SMFA Sheild Quarter final against Dai Winston's CSKA Moskva."

Dutch sensation arrives at Borussia-Park

393_1190839464.gif

Delight for the fans as Sheva pulled off the signing of one of the most in-demand players. Eljero Elia signed for a whopping fee of 10 million with striking duo of Rob Friend and Marius Pena going the other way. The striker who signed with Red Bull Salzburg last year never really settled in Austria and wanted to establish himself in a bigger league. Naturally when Red Bull Salzburg made the player available, he received offers from all over Europe. Lyon was probably the biggest club that came knocking on his door.

Unfortunately for Mon'Bach, the Dutchman's signature cost the club their top goal scorer in Rob Friend but Sheva has placed tremendous faith in the 22 year old. Sheva went on to say that Friend and Pena have done well for the club but i did what he thought what is best for the future of this club. Some say that the manager overpaid for the forward, but Sheva believes that it was a small price to pay for a future star who will develop well in Mönchengladbach.

I chose Borussia Monchengladbach because i think that there is the best place to develop. I like the way the team plays their football and they have been a changed team since the arrival of the new manager. I am a big fan of his policies. He has lots of talented players in his armoury and the trust he places on his younger players is admirable. I was flattered with all the interest but I had to choose one offer' date=' and i am sure i chose the best one.[/quote']

The forward is expected to start today against German giants, Werder Bremen and it would be a memorable debut for the youngster if he can mark it off with a goal.

Mon'bach extend lead to 7 points!

414_1218461173.jpg0-3393_1190839464.gif

Borussia Monchengladbach made the trip to the Weserstadion to take on mighty Werder Bremen for the 3rd time this season. Past meetings have seen the Die Folen beat the giants 1-0 and 4-1. Bremen were fielding a full strength team and Sheva wasn't taking any chances either as he put his full team out as well. New signing, Eljero Elia, started alongside Chilean, Daud Gazale.

Daud Gazale put the away team in front after he saw his spectacular long range effort end up in the back of the net. The Chilean netting for the 4th time this season in as many appearances. The half time score ended at 1-0.

Eljero Elia then doubled Mon'bach's advantage after he smacked a loose ball into the back of the net from range. Again the Mon'bach players showing their ability to create something from nothing. The Dutchman was ecstatic as he managed to score a cracker on debut.

Teen sensation, Marko Marin, then rounded off a great performance with a goal 3 minutes before time that sealed a convincing victory for the Die Folen. Candidates for MoM were Marko Marin and Jose Corona and the Mexican goalie managed to pick up his 6th MoM award in another good game in goals.

Three goals in the first 20 minutes of the match sealed the victory for Kyiv, first from Maksim Shatskikh with a diving header at the back post. Willian Betao then headed in a inswinging corner to double Kyiv's lead, Dynamo secured the Shield with a third goal from Atanda Ayila Yussuf poking the ball into the net.
