Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

Thanks for stealing my exact opinions.;)

They will be added to the list when I add more from those leagues early this week.

I'll pay you for your opinions then, in which case it won't be stealing. :P

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

Sad news to report, as Juan Forlin of Boca Juniors has been seriously injured in this weekend's match against San Lorenzo. Instantly knocked out and the trainers were trying to prevent him from swallowing his tongue.

I'll try to get more information as soon as I can.

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

I'm not sure as to whether Claudemir will rise, as Vitesse are in the bottom two (or at least they were before the most recent games, not sure where they are now), so it seems more likely that everyone else will drop, and he will either stay or get a +1.

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

I cant see why they would all drop, they were pretty near the bottom of the table last season too...

And even Volendam (who were promoted and are not doing well at all), their top players are at 81/82, that's without the usual "Promotion Rise"

Yes I saw the video and it was too bad.

I hope he gets better, and here is a video of the incident

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

Ooo saucy.. one question:

Don't you think Magrao will get higher than Jumar, considering more games and he's being risen from 7 ratings ahead of him (Jumar 73 Magrao 80)? I reckon he could sneak an 86 :D

Someone swallowing their tongue is a myth.

But 'tis still sad, Rory Loy's move to Dunfermline could be going permanent ;)

I've known someone who's died from swallowing their tongue, so I wouldn't call it a myth.

Mark, why do you think Rever should get higher than Carioca?

Torres, I presume you mean Sandro, not Jumar? Sandro Silva should get around 84/85, Magrao 85/86, but they won't get the same rating, that's for sure.

Well i was told on my first aid course that it is impossible to swallow your tongue and that it is a myth.

EDIT: from the net, Can you swallow your tongue?

No, you can not swallow your tongue. If you become unconscious and are laying on your back, the muscles that control your tongue will relax and the tongue will fall back, blocking your airway. But you can not swallow your tongue.

Of course you can't technically 'swallow' it, but it can be 'gulped' down and will block the airway, which can cause the person to choke to death, which is then known as 'swallowing your tongue'.

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

Rever higher because he is as influential and is starting at a higher rating.

Magrao / Sandro / Jumar : You are right' date=' I will change it.

It's tough to be consistent when you are dealing with over 500 players :D[/quote']

The current rating doesn't mean anything, apart from he might have done more in the past, and Rever hasn't done more than Carioca. Rever was added to the DB at 80 rated, then rose to 83 in the changes. Carioca only rose to 80. Both should get the same.

Should, but I don't think they will. I think Carioca deserves 88, but was flamed for even suggesting it...

I believe the West Germany goalie suffered this in the World Cup against France in 1982. This was the most high profile case of swallowing the tongue. But it is very rare all over, thankfully.

And I thought he could hit higher than 88, but it seems that not been an full international will keep him a tad lower lower. 80 to 87 is not to be chuffed at, I'm sure Carioca will get some match time for Brazil.

Re: Insider's thread. Risers, straight to the point.

Read the whole think. It was obviously a typo...

Yeah, but with so many players it's easier and less time-consuming to just read the bold stuff. :D

This is a great thread, keep it up.

The West Germany goalkeeper, Schumacher, came out and smashed Frenchman Battison's face to smithereens. Think he lost most of his teeth in the process. Never heard that about Schumacher swallowing his tongue.

I seem to remember John Fashanu swallowing his tongue for Wimbledon once. I think it might have been either Tim Flowers or Neil Sullivan who reached in and pulled his tongue away from the airway whilst still wearing his goalkeeping gloves!
