In other news traget Minieiro has said he hopes his loan deal to America will be accepted as he siad that he thinks a move there is just the thing to revive his carrear after a dismal spell at Chelsea.Ryan had this to say about Minieiro. Minieiro is they type of player you want at youyr club.He doesn't back down no matter what the score is.They way he controls the midfeild is what Americ needs. No disrespect to Kovac but i feel River is a step down to end his caraer and i rate Minieiro much higher than Kovac and i always will. .RC 2,514
Re: Wc 4439 America need a hero in Hulk! America have a made a bid for Porto player Hulk. When the River Plate fans heard this they knew what Ryan was doing.Ryan has denied he has made this bid to annoy Read and insisted that it was for footballing purposes only.Ryan has said that he wants Hulk and even if he doesn't get him River will have to pay full price. This has amused Americas fans and some fans have already been spotted with shirts that have Hulk on the back.Hulk has said he would rather play for America over River but may go to River for first team football.Hulk knows America's support is far greater than sham of people who call themselves River Plate fans. Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 River: Hulk Won't Play for Losers The rivalry between River Plate and America has got to boling point, with America now claiming they "wernt" interested in Kovac, despite bidding for the former Reb Bull Zalsburg midifelder. Read has also commented on America's interest in Hulk. As Clarke said, they definately need a superhero. I mean, what are we? 5 points ahead? Although I would love to have Hulk, I could just as easily go out and buy another striker as back-up for Falcao, Sand, Larsson and Klimowicz. But I can't see a young talent such as Hulk joining a team that can barely win in Division 4. Read has commented on River's so called "mistake". I dont care if he retires in a year, He will have led us to the title and givin us the money we used to spend on him, plus some more left-over to buy some young stars, much like we have now. And as for us been so-called "copy-cats", I hope we dont copy what America are doing and drop out of the top 6 More on this war of words to follow.......

.RC 2,514
Re: Wc 4439 America seal 3 of the 4 points Ryan needs Today America claimed 3 of the 4 points Ryan Clarke needs to stay as manager of America with a 2-1 win against Greek side Panathinaikos. It started off terrible for America after Papadopoulos scored after only 3 minutes. The fightback came late in the first half with Maladonado finding the net. Then in the 75th minute Vera found the net to send the America faithful wild. One man clearly could not contain his happiness and decided to run on the pitch and urinate. He was later arrested and given 1 year for public exposure. His happiness must have been even greater as River dropped points at 3-3 with 19th placed Steaua BucureÅŸti.
Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 Late Steaua Goal Deny River 4 Wins on the Trot A Late Steaua Bucharesti goal denied River Plate their 4th win in a row after Adrian Neaga struck in the 85th. The Argentines dominated the first half, but their second half performance slipped allowing Steaua to score 3 in the second 45. Buonanotte hit the lead for River in the 20th minute, climbing high over the defence to head the ball past Zapata off a Jeremy Rothen cross. Rothen then scored himself 7 minutes later, chipping the keeper and opening up a 2-0 lead before the half-an-hour mark. Buonanotte applauds Rothen afer his cross that lead to Diego's goal Matthias Augusto Fernandez seemed to open up an unchasable lead after half time, after the right-mid burst into the 18-yard box, thrashing the ball home. But Steaua wernt going to lie down. Kapetonas replied for the Romanians, 6 minutes later, bi-cycling the ball into the net. A scramble in the goalmouth helped Steaua striker again, this time through Lovin. And finally in the 85th minute, Neaga fired home a low shot to record a stunning comeback. Neaga celebrates his goal River Plate have gone outright 2nd after Napoli were downed by Independiete. Well done Steaua. I dont think either side believed they could come back from that scoreline, but they did incredibly well. My boys need to learn that, even though you are up a certain amount, you cant slack off, you need to keep on going. But, im not dissapointed because its only the 3rd time this year we havent gotten all 3 points River face Leverkusen in the 3rd round of the cup tomorrow.
.RC 2,514
Re: Wc 4439 Are America ready for Blackburn? In an inteview following Americas win over Panathinaikos a preporter asked Ryan Clarke if his America side were ready for the trip to Ewood park.Ryan said yes and gave the reason that America had already put out Spurs in the 2nd round.Ryan has said that his players are as ready as ever and they can only hope for the best.America have had some mean luck in the compititions so far with both of their 2nd round games going to penaltys. They also host Liverpool in the shield 3rd round.Ryan had this to say I think its great to play against tough opposition as it spurs the players on as they are called the underdogs. While the Liverpool game may seem an impossiblity for a win with our squad you can never tell

The pair arrived for just $195k and are apart of a strong River Plate youth system, which includes Sergio Asenjo, Zoran Tosic, Fabio da Silva and Tarik Elyounoussi. Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 River Bounce Back With 4-0 Win River Plate have rebounded perfectly following their 3-3 draw with Steaua Bucharesti, demolishing German outfit Bayer Leverkusen 4-0. The result became even sweeter upon Read hearing news of rivals Club America been downed 3-1 by Blackburn Rovers. Zoran Tosic continued his great cup form, scoring first in the 9th minute infront of a near-capacity crowd at the El Monumental. The Serbian collected a ball, 10 yards out of Leverkusen's goal with seemingly no challenges from the defence. Tosic was involved in the next goal as well, setting up striker Radamel Falcao with a easy header past Rene Adler, gifting the Argentines with a 2 goal-advantage. Tosic received a yellow card in the 38th minute. Falcao celebrates with team-mates Much to the surprise of the fans, River Plate came out firering in the second half, with Christian Villagra testing the defence. Bayer should of gone at least 2-0 up, with Schneider's and Risse's shot firing high. The German's would pay for their wasted chances, with Diego Klimowicz heading home a Niko Kovac cross. Elyounoussi put the result beyong doubt 2 minutes later in the 54th, after collecting a ball in what looked like an offside position, calmly finishing to gift River with a pass to the next round. One kid gives his opinion to the ref about the offside call Another good win for the boys, this has definately boosted their confidence after the draw last week. But it will really test the boys to see if they can back up against Standard Liege. TRANSFER NEWS: River Plate have announced the arrival of more young stars, with Davide Santon, Javier Goncalo Brandao, Alexander Baumjohann and Arnar Smarson joining the division 4 side. In other news, Read receive another offer to manage another club, this time Sporting offering for the Aussie's services. Read quickly declined the offer.
Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 Read: We Were Hopeless River Plate manager Mitchell Read has branded his sides loss against lowly Standard Liege as "hopeless" and "disgraceful". To add salt to the wounds, Club America downed league leaders San Lorenzo 4-1. Liege struck first in the 4th through Jovanovic, then Danta 6 minutes later. Dalmat grabbed himself a double, securing the win in the 69th minute and adding to the total in the 82nd. River Plate remain 2nd on goal difference, but are under immense pressure from Napoli and rivals America. River Plate could drop as low as 5th if they fail to beat Dynamo Moskva. America beat League leaders San Lorenzo 4-1 with what Ryan will call his weakened team.America clearly shcoked the Lorenzo lads as Ledemesa scored a goal inside the first minute.Vera scored an amazing free kick to make it 2-0 after only 11 minutes.Marques scored then after 35 mintes to make it 3-0 and after half time America made it 4 with Marquez on the scoresheet again.Lorenzo got a consalation goal on the 81st minte but there wasn't many fans left to see it. The Argentines are currently suffering 2 injuries to their central midfielders, in the form of a Tomas Galasek (Hernia, 3 days remaining) and Leonardo Ponzio (Torn ligaments, 3 weeks). Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 Late Elyounoussi Goal Grabs River 1 Point A late Tarik Elyounoussi goal saved River Plate from their 4th straight league loss, drawing against league leaders San Lorenzo. The Argetines look set to be going home empty handed yet again before the Norwegian struck late in the 89th minute. Radamel Falcao gave the home side a surprise lead in the 22nd minute after his early shot caught the keeper off guard. Lorenzo's striker Nester Silvera replied quickly for the visitors in the 36th after the front man followed up a long range effort which Friedel couldnt keep a hold of. Falcao grabs a shock lead for River Silvera continued to be a menace for the 3-man River defence, diving at the back post to hit the lead and scored what looked to be the decisive goal in the 73rd minute. The away fans were celebrating, lighting flares around the ground. The cheers were silenced however, 1 minuted from time young winger Tarik Elyounoussi applied pressure on the San Lorenzo keeper, forcing a fumble which gifted the Buenos Aires side their first points in 4 games. Elyounoussi scores his 3rd of the year.

Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 Porto No Match for Rampant River River Plate have continued their stunning cup run, downing division 1 side FC Porto 3-1 to advance to the quarter-final. Diego Buonanotte cemented his place as the sides "M.V.P", grabbing 2 goals for the home side. The 20-year old Argentine struck mid-way through the 1st half following some great passing allowing the attacking-midfielder a 1-on-1 chance, and he didnt waste it. Jose Sand had the chance to make it 2-nil in the 43rd, somehow firing high in-front of an open goal. Buonanotte celebrates in-front of a record home crowd Buonanotte helped his side to an even better advantage, heading home a perfectly placed cross from Jeremy Rothen to grab his 6th goal in all-competitions. Henrik Larsson put the result beyong doubt in the 63rd with the Swede firing away after a scramble in the box. River target Hulk grabbed a consolation goal 6 minutes later. We just seem to be unbeatable in the cup. Out of the teams left, our biggest threat will have to be Fiorentina. But Marseille, who we are facing next round, arent going to be a walk-over. They proved their strength by coming from behind to be Schalke. We'll just have to see. Buonanotte celebrates his second of the night In other results, Internazionale stumbled on penalties against Feyernood, Everton pulled a shock win over Lyon and Olympiacos demolished Celtic 4-1. Sir Fred 127
Re: Wc 4439 River Grab Equal 2nd, Sand Goes Top Of Leaderboard River Plate have grabbed equal second, along with 3 other teams, after downing an off Ruben Kazan 2-1 last night. The match also helped Jose Sand nab the top spot on the goal-scoring list, as well as jumping to first on the "Player of the Year" charts. The Buenos Aires side were all over the Russians, grabbing a whopping 63% possesion along with 24 shots on goal. One of the shots came from Jose Sand and this time the ball took a massive deflection after the Argentine shot from an acute angle, wrong-footing the keeper to give them an advantage in the 25th minute. Sand blasts the ball, which resulted in a wicked deflection into the goals Salin Hasan struck back for Kazan 6 minutes later, catching the defence off guard to blast home past Brad Friedel. 10 minutes later however, Radamel Falcao got himself closer to team-mate Sand on the goalscoring list, grabbing River the lead again after breaking from his marker and firing away a low shot.
