Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

Hi there' date='

Im working under the strong assumption the Anderson Hernanes will NOT rise.. but, is he in for a drop at all? Even with all the minutes played, he has struggled to reach the heights of last season, no?

Should i sell while i can??[/quote']

I don't think he's done nearly enough to deserve that 90. He's no longer a part of the Selecao. I think a drop is warranted.

RE: PALMEIRAS X BARUERI

Anybody else watch the Palmeiras X Barueri match yesterday ? A few takeaways on Palmeiras :

  • Whenever tested, their back 4 looked shocking particularly in open play (although set pieces weren't much better). Barueri had sooo many close chances particularly in the first half. Through balls that went completely unmet defensively. Passes up the middle, where the defender was always a step too slow initially and then a step too slow in close-down. Seemed like miscommunication all night. Hard to believe this is a first place side's defensive back four considering how they played yesterday.
  • Vagner Love was on a completely other level in terms of creating space than any of the defenders he was up against. 1 goal (PK). Missed a few shots from the top of the box, but more importantly there were two handfuls of chances that just missed (i.e. goal taken away for offside, 2 Diego Souza crosses that were just beyond him, a handful of passes in the goal area that were just beyond his reach, etc...).
  • Cleiton Xavier was non-existent in the first half, but turned it on in the second. Sweet cross to Diego Souza for the first goal. It was pin-point accuracy, but his free kicks after that were ho-hum. Impressed me w his vision.
  • Redhead Souza with another quietly effective & efficient game. I didn't really believe in this player at the beginning of the year, but have really gotten to appreciate his game & style of play. BIG right hoof. Will be interesting to see if they can start to hone his accuracy.

I just watched the first half, then had a game of my own.

1. Their back four looks a lot better with Mauricio Ramos in it. Add in Pablo Armero, and then you have a back 4.

2. Agreed. This signing might just be the one for the Brasileirao.

3. I though Souza was much better then Cleiton the half that I watched. Redhead was the one creating and crossing everything in. Didn't watch the second, but that was a heck of an assist. He's now 5 assists ahead of the next highest in Brazil (I think it's Madson?)

4. Believe, mate, believe!

RE: CRUZEIRO 1X2 SAO PAULO

Even more rare than the Yetti, there's been a Borges sighting...! Subbed in the 80th and scored 30 seconds later. Collected an absolutely FANTASTIC pass and effort by Dagoberto to take SP up 2X1. ZERO celebration afterward... Needless to say he's pissssed about his game time.

For as good as SP are defensively, they come across as lost offensively. It was mentioned during the telecast that there have been 2 nil-nil matches so far this year in the Brasileiro. Both have involved SP, I know this because it then dawned on me I've had the displeasure to watch BOTH ! I thought for sure that they were on track for making it 3-for-3. Their offensive philosophy lately seems to be knock it up to Washington and hope his old legs can do something. He was all over the place working hard, but found it tough to anything w little support. Was actually surprised how involved Richarlyson was considering his form all season. Still....can't see that 89-rating sticking past next week, I'm sure the fact that he gave the ball away @ midfield that Diego Renan took to the house won't help...

Mentioned it HERE on MsF's Diego Renan thread but the kid impressed. Real quick. Cruzeiro looked anemic without Kléber, but Diego Renan provided a few sparks (not to mention the first goal of the game where he made Renato Silva look like Fábio Braz).

Rogerio Ceni back with his 4th successive start after recovering from his ankle fracture. He had 3 fantastic saves in the first half (two of which I'd put up against ANY keeper in ANY league). Aside: Saw an interview with him and Adriano this past week... Adriano credits the guy for helping save his career. A little bit more important than whether or not Rogerio Ceni is going to drop from 92 don't cha think. Anyway, I digress...

One of the announcers was really trying to kill Cruz's GK, Fábio, on the goal scored by Marlos, but I don't think it was the howler they were making it out to be. The shot was hit with some pace.

I really didn't notice Jean or even Bernardo after his late sub.

Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

Just glad to see my Internacional win again last night with a 2-0 win at Avai with only 9 men in the end :eek:

Really putting in a big push now be great to see the establishment namely Sao Paulo get beaten in the league by Inter a great mix of Youth and experience Magrao Bolivar doing the defensive work to let the youthful talents such as Giuliano, Taison do the damage maybe it could be our year ;)

Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

RE: VAGNER LOVE

I think that the strongest arguments in support of a drop from 92 are (in order):

(1) Vagner Love's form @ CSKA since he was reviewed on June 29th and the overall team's continued pathetic and listless showing under out-of-his-depth Zico

(2) The lack of Champions League exposure now that he temporarily moved back to Palmeiras

(3) His lack of NT exposure

(4) That ridiculous hair

Again' date=' from my case here and in prior posts on him, I think his 92 is safe. There's not going to be a rise while in Brazil, but I don't see him dropping. And I certainly don't see him dropping in the forthcoming Brazilian review as another Forumer has suggested.[/b']

and just like that he drops to 91. so much for outsourcing my research & analysis team to Satyam in India...

Zico ! ! !

yup' date=' Sandro 78 --> +8 --> 86 :D

Christ, bit more aggrieved that I missed out on him in all GCs now.

Scratch that, I have him in GC25 with Cruzeiro. I also have Cleiton Xavier who rose to 88, and Mauricio Ramos in a couple who got a +3 to 87. :)

Haha, I was wondering why I seemed to have a lack of risers in most setups. Turns out you don't get a message about players out on loan.

Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

Elias rises to 86 (!), whilst Wellington Saci just gets a positional change. Has Saci not been playing then?

Tardelli gets a very nice +2 to 88, Muriqui rises to 85 (didn't get him in any GCs though), whilst there are also rises for Welton Felipe and Toloi to 84, Adilson to 85 and Jean to 87. The less known risers who I also have are Leandro and Marcio Araujo getting +2s to 86, and Rever rising to 88.

Mark, I now have 6 defenders rated 84 for my second GC Leeds, and only need three. Two are rises from the Polish league, one is a Brazilian still to rise (Cesar Lucena). The others are Marco Perez, Canuto and Welton Felipe. Not to mention Luizinho who I just signed who should get a small rise.

So I'm wondering if Welton Felipe can rise again next changes or if it's worth offloading him?

And what do you reckon Luizinho can get tomorrow or Friday? And will it be worth keeping him as well?

I also have to debate selling off the likes of Marcio Araujo, Leandro, Adilson and pretty much any rises that are 86 or below.

Any help would be appreciated (if you have the time!).

Are the ratings done?

Really aggrieved that all the guys I managed to get in GC1' date=' spilling all of my cash on to get them, have stayed the same.

Roberto Brum, Calheiros Hamilton, Neto Baiano, Nadson. None have risen.[/quote']

Nope they're not.

I think that tomorrow is the final day, with alot of players still to be done and some added.

Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

There have been a few more, but none of my GC1 guys rose.

Also disappointed that Thiaguinho dropped to 83 after spilling £6m on him. Better offload him at half the price then I guess.

And no rise for Moacir. Most of Recife have done poor in the ratings due to their low league position, but I thought the previous tournaments might have helped them. :(

Re: Guide to the 2009 Brazilian season

Thanks very much to insider. I have 13 players I signed on your recommendation that have risen in rating! The best risers for me are

Rafael Toloi - 75 --> 84

Cesar Denis - 78 --> 84

Ranieri Sandro - 78 --> 86

Rep coming your way. :)
