Re: Official Russian Premier League '09 Thread

Hi ben. I see u hav akinfeev to go up to 92. Do u think he has good chance to go up or isit a close call?

I have him down as 70% rise, 30% stay. Based on performance he definetely deserves to go to 92. He's been playing since he's 17 and just gets better and better every season. Now 23, Akinfeev is the captain on CSKA and a very important starter for Russia. With CSKA top of an improving league, and in the 09/10 Champions League he definetely deserves to rise.

Hi Ben,

Can you see Pogrebniak as a future NT fixture ahead of Pavlyuchenko? Any chance he'll hit 92 by the end of the 2009 ?

Also, what Anyukov's got to do to hit 92 ? Leave the Russian League?

Thanks for a very interesting and enjoyable thread.

Pogrebnyak is a very good forward, and will definetely fight for a place in the starting team of Russia. There isn't much between him, Pavlyuchenko and Kerzhakov and I think all three of those will be competing for that starting spot. Hidink will probably first off rotate them until one of them finds some great form and makes the starting spot theirs. As for rating, I think 91 is fine. I struggle to see him going above that in the near future.

Dont get me wrong, Anyukov is a very good player. But for me, he hasn't done enough to get 92. 92 would put him on par with Zhirkov and Tymoschuk and above Akinfieev, and personally I don't see him at that standard quite yet. If Anyukov can step up his game one more level and Zenit's form improve and he does even better for Russia, then he can go to 92. But for now 91 is adequate.

Re: Official Russian Premier League '09 Thread

Hi Ben

Do you reckon Tekke Fatih could sneak a rise to 89? From what i can gather he coming off the bench more than starting but is obviously doing ok (forgetting his habit of picking up cards!) given that he's scored 3 & was rated 6.0 so far this season. Do Zenit usually play with just Pogrebnyak up front?

Zenit normally play a 4-5-1 formation similar to this:

--------------XXX--------------

XXX-----XXX-----XXX-----XXX

-------XXX---XXX---XXX-------

XXX----↓--------------↓----XXX

---------------XXX--------------

This means Pogrebnyak would be lone forward. The winger positions would be used by Danny and Faizulin. However now Danny has got his injury, Zenit may adjust the formation so that Tekke starts up front with Pogrebnyak. The other option would be to bring in Huszti, but I'm not sure Zenit have total faith in him yet, or 20 year old Ionov.

I think if Tekke is going to rise he's he needs more minutes than what he is getting now. Zenit's form is poor, so to break the next rating boundary he needs to get a few more starts and still keep up his great goalscoring run.

What is going on with CSKA ??? (Lackluster 1-0 Loss to lowly Kuban... are you kidding)

I understand that Zico isn't happy with what he has at CSKA and has been mixing it up lately... However, what the heck was he thinking with today's starting XI ?!?!?

He started 5 Midfielders and not one of them was named Dzagoev or Krasic... I realize each came back from injury this week, but each still played the final 1/3 of the match. Why not just start them if you are going to play them at all...?

On the back line, Schennikov couldn't suit up because of a red card... Somehow neither Odiah or Aleksei Berezutsky saw the field, but Semberas plays the full 90 @ RB...! Insanity.

Get the sense that he is going to completely clean house during the transfer window. In the coming months, Zico can begin improving the squad by getting rid of the Brazilians he has and bring in a new crop before they all end up in the Ukrainian League !

Also, can someone tell me what formation they played today... Normally they are in a 4-2-3-1, but considering only 3 true Defenders suited up, I find it difficult to believe that was the formation.

Re: Official Russian Premier League '09 Thread

sine russian rating is next.

Can u make a consolidated list of +2 risers and +1 riser above 87.

Put this in the first post.

It would be very convenient sine a lot of people dont have time to go through all the thread.

Is that all you post?

The game was awful and the result was awful for CSKA. The players didn't go out and perform, but I don't think Zico can take the full blame. Dzagoev and Krasic are still not fully fit, and Zico didn't wish to risk them before the Russian Cup final next week. I don't think that was a major problem though, as Maazou who's been playing on the right of mid ahead of Krasic has been playing very well (although to be fair he wasn't great yesterday), and Carvaliho who started ahead of Dzagoev was my man of the match.

There was a back four playing but they were too attack minded. Erkin was playing at left back and was pushing forward every possibility. Semberas was also playing too high up the mitch. The defensive mentality was wrong (they though it would be a walkover) and that is what cost them. Although there are games when I'd prefer to see Erkin start at left back today Schenni should have played. He was better suited to the match. Aleksei should also have started but for some reason Zico won't play him at right back. Odiah is shocking and Semberas isn't good enough, so if Zico doesn't trust Aleksei he needs to make a signing.

On a positive note I did think Mamaev had an excellent as did Dani who is starting to get back to his best now. However, Zhirkov (normally Mr. Reliable) didn't turn up today, and the defense were a shambles at times. Hopefully Zico will adress the issues that need addressing in time for the final.

Re: Official Russian Premier League '09 Thread

It's going to be interesting to see what happens in Moskow. Thanks for the insight into the match. I read that Dani played well, but gotta believe that it would have been Dzagoev that was the MOTM if he had the minutes. Personally I think Zico should dump Dani while he still has some value. He's not going to improve in Russia anymore... Time for a change.

It's hard to believe that THIS is the 2nd best team in Russia right now...! The team has a split personality.

Dr Jekyll:

  • Manager has ZERO confidence in any of the defenders and no discernible defensive strategy
  • No cohesiveness in the midfield
  • An attack that has no middle ground.. either it's filet-mignon or it's road-kill
  • A lethargic disinterested effort week-in and week-out (even when they score 3-or-more)
  • And lastly, somehow only 1/2 of their good/great players (see Mr. Hyde) end up on the pitch at the same time !

Mr Hyde:

  • Four players that can play w anybody anywhere (Akinfeev, Zhirkov, Iggy, & Vagner Love).
  • Two players on the cusp of world stardom (Dzagoev & Krasic).
  • Two of the better up-and-coming players east of Arsenal (Schennikov & Mamaev)
  • And who can forget The Berezutsky Bros.

Aside: Something to consider is maybe the overall Russian league is down. Zenit is completely lost. CSKA is in 2nd with 3 losses out of 10 played (to the 8th, 11th and 12th place teams in the table). Then again, maybe it's too soon to tell....and maybe it's too soon to tell w CSKA, too...
