SIR ALEX SACKED! KATZEFF APPOINTED!

Today has been a day of shocks. Sir Alex Ferguson was sacked from his position as Manchester United manager after the board deemed he was 'too old' to manage a top English side. The moved swiftly to appoint Jared as their new manager, an relatively unknown Aussie. Upon his appointment he stated his joy at being appointed manager of such a top class side. He first moves was to ask Ronaldo to leave- he stated he didnt want any dicing big game flops in his side. He then asked Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Anderson, Nani, Ronney, Tevez and Berbatov to leave. He is insistant on recreating the squad.

Even more shocking is the persistant rumours that Steven Gerrard has signed on the line to join the Red Devils for an undisclosed fee. The only thing that could be confirmed is that the Aussie manager is in deep talks for both Gerrard and Torres.

KUN SET TO BECOME A RED DEVIL

Sergio Aguero is set to become a red devil after both the club and player agreed to a deal that will see Carrick and Berbatov and 14mil head to Madrid. It is the first predicted signing by new gaffer Katzeff. The deal is subject to a medical and set to be completed in 24 hours.

In further news negotiations continue with Liverpool for the Ronaldo/Rooney/Gerrard/Torres swapping. The last reported deal was 15mil and Torres for Ronaldo.

TWO NEW RED DEVILS

Gaffer Katzeff has made his first 2 big signings but lost 4 players in the process. However these moves have significantly strengthened the sides youth.

As predicted, Aguero signed for 14mil+Berbatov+Carrick. A hefty price but worthwile for such a star youngster, who was delighted with the prospect of forming a lethal trio with Wayne Rooney and compatriot Tevez.

The second signing was more of a surprise as veteran right back Gary Nevile and Portuguese winger Nani left the club to join Sevilla in a deal that saw Spain's promising young star, Jesus Navas sign for the Red Devils. He is the only Spaniard currently in the squad.

With Liverpool recently loosing a string of managers, Katzeff has had to restart talks to send Rooney and Ronaldo to Anfield in exchange for Gerrard and Torres. However he is also considering a very temptin bid from Bayern Munich.

MATCH PREVIEW: TURN 1

139_1195931882.gif

VS
49_1204432433.gif

A sell out crowd is expected at the Vicente Calderon as the season gets underway. Arguably the tie of the round will see Aguero, Carrick and Berbatov make their debuts against their former club. Atletico's other new signing is Ze Roberto, signed from Bayern Munich. All four are all expecting starts. However Manchester's Jesus Navas is expected to start on the bench. Both teams are at full strength and will love to start their season in the best way possible. Daniel Read, the Atletico manager is expected to play a straight 4-4-2 with Forland partnering Berbatov upfront. Katzeff, however, is expected to go on th attack and field a 4-3-3. A tense, tough match is expected- Certainly a must-see game.

Key Match Ups- The centre backs- Vidic and Ferdinand have formed a strong pairing at the back and will have a tough time keeping Forlan and Berbatov at bay. However the back two for Atletico (less clear who it will be) will have an even tougher time trying to keep Aguero, Rooney and Tevez at bay. Certainly the centre-backs will have a huge influence on the game.

Latest betting odds
- Atletico Madrid $1.85, Draw $1.65, Manchester United 1.80.

Predicted Line-ups- Atletico Madrid (4-4-2)- Coupet-Seitaridis-Ujfalusi-Hetinga-Antonio Lopez--Maxi Rodriguez-Ze Roberto- Carrick- Simao--Forlan- Berbatov

Manchester United (4-3-3) Van der Sar, Brown- Ferdinand- Vidic- Evra--Ronaldo- Scholes ©-Giggs-- Rooney- Aguero- Tevez

MATCHDAY 1 AT VINCENTE CALDERON (CROWD- 54520)

139_1195931882.gif

1
(Simao 56)
49_1204432433.gif
1 (Tevez 74)

A sell out crowd at the Vincete Calderon watched an entertaining draw.Atletico edged the possession (52%) and had more shots on goal (19) and more on target (9) yet failed to come away with the deserved three points.

A goalless first half saw many great opportunities and some controversy. Ujfalusi had the first major chance when his long range effort was saved by Van der Sar. Tevez replied with a great solo run before smashing his shot into the post. He was then booked for a supposed 'dive' but replays suggest that he was clearly taken down by Ujfalusi. Simao and Tevez exchanged more chances before the half time whistle.

The second half began slowly, until Simao bought the game to life with a sublime finish after a superb touch in the 56 minute. Berbatov then had his first major envolvement when he fired wide from distance. Simao continued to be a menace and created two more chances before Tevez scored the equaliser. Rooney took the ball down the wing and crossed into Tevez who had the time and composure to finish easily. 1-1- game on. Katzeff immediately decided to attack for the last 15 minutes and replaced Brown with Jesus Navas. A 3-3-4 was adopted but without the planned effect. The game finished angrily with Ze Roberto picking up a yellow card for swearing and Scholes getting one for a rash tackle. Next up for both teams will be Inter at home for Manchester United and Roma away for Atletico.

MANCHESTER UNITED SIGN AUSSIE YOUNGSTERS

Manchester United's Aussie gaffer has signed the two brightest upcoming stars from his native country. The Newcastle utility Ben Kantarovski, signed for 20k. The 16 year old is tipped by many as the the brightest talent produced by the country in ages. He has produced polished displays in a number of positions and was the shining light in his clubs dismal season.

The other youngster was Sydney FC youngster Brendan Gan for 20k. Since scoring on his debut for Sydney, against Newcastle, Gan has produced a number of scintillating displays in the middle of Sydney's midfield.

Both are expected to slot into the youth team and have been loan listed. In other news Manchester United have turned their attention on signings Barcelona's Lionel Messi. As negotiations with Liverpool have come to a standstill, Katzeff decided to chase another one of the worlds best players. The move could see Wayne Rooney move in the other direction.

FIERCE TRAINING BUST-UP

Ronaldo and the gaffer, Katzeff, have been involved in a fierce war of words which ended in the winger leaving in tears. Reports suggest that Ronaldo tried to take over the training and teach the players how to dive but Katzeff was having none of it and had a pull the winger aside. This resulted in a fiery private conversation with Ronaldo. The conversation ended with Ronaldo running back to his hotel room in tears.

Katzeff has said that he only asked his player to let the boss do his job. Ronaldo swore violently at the manager before Katzeff stated that he will assure that the Portuguese star will be at a new club with in 48 hours.

Ronaldo was not availible for comment. Bids by Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have already been received and the manager is considering both.

Read Continues To Weave His Magic for Bayer

Bayer Leverkusen manager Mitchell Read has continued to display his magic, remaining unbeaten at the German club after 4 games. Bayer have 3 wins and 1 draw under the Aussie gaffer, this time downing cellar-dwellers Sao Paulo.

Rumoured Manchester United recruit Renato Augusto fired away Bayer's first in the 32nd minute, fighting to keep his place at the club ahead of Zoran Tosic. Buss Henrique pushed forward after half-time, side-stepping keeper Roger Ceni to tap away in the 69th.

Simon Rolfes completed the 3-goal win to send Bayer to 5th, 1 win behind leaders Olympiacos. In the individual standings, Tosic is the only player in the top 25 scorers for Bayer with 2. Helmes, Barnetta and Charisteas are on the assists list while Friedrich has the only red card for the side.

Shattered United loose again

Manchester United lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal. Rooney opened the scoring in the second minute, with a simple tap in. They went into the break 1-0 and look set to get some much needed points. But two great finishes, by Adebayor and Eboue, meant that Arsenal took all three points, leaving Manchester United in 17th, only goal difference saving them from the relegation zone.

In brighter news CSKA Mosckow winger Milos Krasic signed for the Manchester giants. Leverkusen's KIESSLING has become a prime target.
