Re: Worldwide Football Transfers Thread - 100% Official Only Please

I'm well gutted about tomorrow though. There's nothing better than doing sod all on deadline day and just watching SSN to watch all the wheeling and dealing - you just can't beat it. Now' date=' even though I have work tomorrow, I thought, "no worries, at least I can watch some of the action when I get back." But no, it closes at bloody 5PM this time!! Which idiot thought that this was a good idea?! Those last minute, midnight deals are the best thing about deadline day![/quote']

Well I needn't have worried about this after all. What an anti-climatic deadline day, where the biggest transfer was James Collins to Aston Villa. Not quite Robinho to Man City or the Gallas/Cole swap of previous times!

One last deal (well, I'm sure a couple more will trickle through...), Sheffield United have finally offloaded Billy Sharp to Doncaster Rovers on loan for the rest of the season. Absolutely brilliant signing for Donny as he will score goals at this level - it bemuses me why United were so keen to get rid of him.

It was utter pants. They didn't even get 'two phones' Burton into the studio until about half 4. Even then he managed to drop a few names.

"Nicky Shorey's move the Pompey looks to be off, I've tried phoning him but it's going to voicemail."

That's because he doesn't like you two phones. Nobody does. Nobody. Tool.

Kieron Djilali Crystal Palace - Crawley Town - 1 Month Loan.

At least we kept our GOOD youngsters.

Your Crystal Palace... you don't have any good players...

Or are you Barca? :o

Danny Schofield today left Yeovil too Millwall for an undisclosed fee (for sure)' date=' despite the BBC saying it's a loan deal. Nothing short of absolutly gutted... we can call off any small play-off hopes now for absolute sure.[/b']

Billy Sharp will not score goals at this level. 8 goals in 2 seasons is not good enough to say he was almost a definite starter for us last season. Thats why we were so keen to get rid of him. Hopefully he will bang in a few for Doncaster and then come back to us with a knack of scoring. Unfortunately I doubt it.

In his first season at United, he played well in the second half of the season and scored a few goals. Last season, you never gave him a decent run in the side (longest run was four consecutive starts). You need to start him regularly and give him a chance to show what he can do. I am convinced that Donny can get the best out of him because they play good football and he's exactly what they need. I predict a 12-goal haul for him if he stays injury-free and they start him consistently.

I'd be well happy if Palace got him on loan, proven at Sphorpe and should get about 15+ goals for Doncaster.

Didn't somebody called Elm join Fulham yesterday?

The guy who signed for Fulham was David Elm, Rasmus's and Viktor's brother.

There's three of them?! God, that's confusing! And there was me thinking that Fulham had signed an extremely highly-rated player...perhaps not then.

Non the less he was given a pretty decent chance on matchday. I think the problem with alot of players is that they are able to perform brilliantly at a lower level but just dont have the attributes to compete at a higher level. For example his step up from scoring 32 league goals at Shorpe to joining us and scoring 4 goals last season. It inevitably is harder to perform at the same level but I dont feel he is a strong goalscorer at this level at all and having watched him a few times at the lane last season I think he would suit a positional change to an attacking midfielder or somebody who plays off the strikers.

It may be because of the system/tactics we play also, But hopefully he will hit the back of the net regularly for Doncaster and come back to us more confident.

It's funny reading these posts again as, just as I expected, Billy Sharp has been an absolute revelation since joining Doncaster. He's already exceeded my predicted target of 12 goals (he currently has 15) and he has been vital towards Donny's high position in the table this season.

But you did hit the nail on the head in that last point (in bold) as it is all down to the way the two sides play football. Donny like to get the ball down and play football, allowing Sharp to just play off the last man. United, well.....they don't.
