Re: Official Manchester City Thread

Never felt more like singing the blues, City win, United lose, oh City, you got me singing the blues! :D:D:D

Great win today, it's a shame we didn't get more. Great Birthday present for Carlos getting a hatrick. His second goal was class, lovely one two with Silva before skipping past a West Brom defender and placing it into the net. Would have been a perfect result if Kolarov's 30 yard screamer had gone in, but it was fantastic keeping from Myhill to tip it onto the bar. Also a nice tribute for Neil Young, with the clap at the beginning and then after 23 minutes a picture of him came up on the big screen and he got another clap.

Can't wait for Saturday now!

Re: Official Manchester City Thread

I love Tevez :)

Could do with knocking a few in seeing what Arsenal are doing

Seems we didn't need to score more - Newcastle did us a favour' date=' which was nice of them.

Fantastic tributes to Neil Young before and during the game.

I do have one criticism though - can we keep the Poznan for the bigger games?

It's great to see that City fans still have a cracking sense of humour though;

WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA - WE DO - OHHHH GRANDMA WE LOVE YOU!!!

or the even better

64 YEARS AND SHES STILL HERE - 64 YEARS AND SHES STILL HERE

(although the second one didn't really get going)

[b']Hyde also won - 1-0 against Redditch[/b]

So the football gods smiled on me yesterday - just hoping they don't ruin the whole weekend for me today :D

Hyde are also at home on monday against Nuneaton who are in the top 3. If I remember rightly a few tuesdays ago I think Hyde beat Nuneaton at Nuneaton. With yesterday's win Hyde move all the way up to.......... 18th :) 2 points ahead of Gloucester who drop and also have 5 games in hand :o But lets think about the positives anyway :)

I'm unsure whether Argentina are playing mid-week in the International Fixtures. Hopefully, everyone on Tuesday and Wednesday don't get injured following up to Saturdays game against the rags. Late happy birthdays for both Tevez who turned 27 yesterday and Sven Goran Erikkson who turned 63.

If Hyde had won 22-0 yesterday they would have gone above StalyVegas (if Staly hadn't drawn)

Now 9 points clear of Stafford though

Argentina play portugal on Wednesday..in Geneva, Switzerland (eh????) - the game was originally set to be played at The Emirates but got moved for some reason

Ronaldo v Messi and Tevez should be a half decent friendly (better than England v Ghana at Wembley in April (eh?????))

Tevez hasn't been given a call-up this time, neither has Aguero; Sergio Batista is having a look at other options. Zabaleta will be there though.

EDIT: Just thought that you might have already known this and were simply talking about your other internationals - you do have quite a few at City! :P

Re: Official Manchester City Thread

Adebayor scored a great goal today. Not one from 40 yard or summet, but a real quality finsih. had the ball threaded through to him, and finished it ever so carefully in the bottom corner.

I know u guys probz wont care, but i dont think hes coming back.

Do you really think we need him? He'll have a good 6 months at Madrid, they'll buy him and then he'll turn rubbish. It always happens.

I agree, he's never been outstanding for you anyway, You've got Dzeko and Tevez. Two players who I think can do wonders for you together. You don't need him and he would probably cause tension amongst the ranks after a few months anyway.

Actually, I do. Reason being is I don't think Dzeko can live up to the hype he had. Honestly, yes he could score goals but Grafite was always the better player in my honest opinion. Adebayor can actually score goals in the EPL and knows how to play when motivated. One of the best strikers I've seen in a while when motivated. Difference is I believe is Mourinho likes the attitude of Adebayor and Mancini doesn't which is why when Mourinho's there, he'll flourish.

I think Adebayor is a much better goalscorer than Dzeko. When he wants to play, he's nigh on unplayable and good on the floor and in the air. Dzeko's good and has a similar skill set but Ade's better. However, Ade hasn't been regularly motivated at City since his first 6 months or so. His heart wasn't with the club at all and with the wages he was on, it was disgusting seeing him sat in the reserves every week showing no desire to make the first team. Mourinho needs a goalscorer and a target-man and Ade does that very well and I can see him moving permanently. He'll need a big change of attitude to make it in the long run though.

Back to the original point, I've fully admitted he's a better goalscorer but I don't think we need him. The reason? Tevez. He's possibly the most in-form striker in the world right now alongside Cavani and is scoring lots of goals very regularly. Dzeko is a much much better link up player than Ade from what I've seen so far. He knows when to drop deep or wide to give others space, he's creative and can score goals too. Reminds me a bit of Bergkamp. Having Ade in the side nullified Tevez as he stayed on the last man and Carlos had to stay deep. Dzeko compliments him brilliantly as he can lead the line or allow the Argentine space when he needs it.

Dzeko might have more skill but he hasn't shown it at all. He's looked absolutely lost in the games I've seen since he made his move. Can also say that when he is "creative", he does look decent, but his assist record is quite awful. And what if Tevez goes into a string of bad form? At Napoli they at least have Lavezzi or Hamsik that can both be magical and they've shown it. At City they don't have a goal scorer other then Tevez. Johnson's being wasted on the bench, Silva's been great but when it comes to goal scoring he won't keep you in the top 4 and as mentioned, Dzeko looks lost most of the time.

Also, is he an upgrade? Not really. He's played 4 league games, one ended 4-3 win, one ended 1-0 loss and one ended 2-2 draw (those were when he started) and then as a sub City win 3-0. Is it really a coincidence that when he starts City look so out of place and loss but when he's on the bench they can dominate? All 3 goals (2 were penalties I know) came before he even came on as well.

To be fair, Adebayor wasn't showing anything on the bench either :o He had no desire to get in the first team and I'd much rather someone who puts effort in. Being creative doesn't necessarily mean getting assists. As I said, he drops deep or wide and gives others space and he's aware of what's going on. Compared to Ade who stood on or behind the opposition's last man all game it's magical. If Tevez runs through a bad patch then we can rely on one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga. It's not as if Dzeko doesn't know how to put the ball in the net is it? There's Balotelli too who could be great with a bit more effort (though he did score the laziest hat-trick ever...) and the midfield can provide goals, they've just not really needed to. Johnson's injured at the moment and many City fans agree he should be getting more playing time. I wish he starts on the left (his correct flank) when we play Dzeko as we don't put crosses in otherwise. He's still a bit raw but is a very good player. Silva could score more but look through our goals this season and he's been involved in most of them, if not through assisting directly.

Is Dzeko an upgrade on Ade? Definitely. Dzeko trying hard is miles better than a lazy Adebayor and unfortunately that's the mindset Ade has. Add in that Ade can't play with Tevez and it's a no-brainer.

I'm not saying Dzeko couldn't start scoring, but from the games I've watched he really does look lost. Most of his passes seem to be easily cut out, he'll miss an open net, he'll blast it totally wide. He is a step up for Ade with work rate but was he needed for what he is there to do and score goals? He's definitely not doing the job for the price.

The new rich list is out and we've jumped 9 places from 20th to 11th. This is based on revenue so the Sheik's deep pockets don't directly have anything to do with it :)

Nice to see us above Spurs who have Champions League revenue to add to their coffers.

20th, I expect us to drop next season....

We'll have no European income and our gates have vastly dropped this season compared to last..
