Section 4 Risers - Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay & USA

Recommended Posts

I know that there are various threads on summer risers, but I am focussing on Section 4. I have tried to include the most important stats to justify my predictions. Colombia & USA have been covered rather well already, notably Gozgoz8’s thread, but there seems to be little on Ecuador & Paraguay. My predictions are based purely on stats, and what I think the player would get if the reviews were happening in the present. I am only including players that I think will rise 3 or more, and none of the players are currently ranked above 80.

The format is as follows:

SURNAME, Forename

General comments

Age:

Position:

Club:

Club average rating: (first 11 median)

Games played: Starts (subs) out of x

Goals:

Current rating:

Predicted rating: y + z

Many of the players, such as Orozco and Majao, will be well-known to many forummers. Any players that have not been mentioned before in player discussion since the previous set of changes (other than by myself) will be displayed as follows:

*Player*

These players should be easier to buy as they are less likely to have been snapped up by others.

I will add one country at a time, and I hope this thread proves to be useful.

Re: Section 4 Risers - Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay & USA

Colombia

VINASCO, Andrés

Real name Andrés Felipe Vinasco Valencia, this guy passed me by until brought to my attention by Dermo. He's at Deportivo Pereira on SM, where I believe he played the odd game towards the end of last season, and played 11 games out of 18 in Mustang I. However, Johnny C has since discovered that Valencia was subbed out very early in many games, so has made the equivalent of 3 starts and 8 sub appearances.

Age: 22

Position: RM/Wing

Club: America de Cali (11th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 11 (0) out of 18 Mustang II - 2 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 70

Predicted rating: 74/5 +4/5

CASTILLO, Carlos

Mentioned many times before whilst incorrectly listed on SM as 19 years old, Castillo could still earn you a little money or improve a lowly rated team.

Age: 33

Position: Fwd

Club: Deportivo Pasto (16th)

Club average rating: 81

Games played: Mustang I - 12 (1) out of 18 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 1

Current rating: 70

Predicted rating: 77 +7

BARRIOS, Marlon

Real Cartagena have only 13 players on SM, leading me to believe that have only recently been promoted, but they finished Mustang I in mid-table. Having played 1/3rd of the games, Barrios should easily rise from a lowly 72.

Age: 22

Position: RM/CM

Club: Real Cartagena (10th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: Mustang I - 6 (0) out of 18 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 72

Predicted rating: 77 +5

*BARAHONA, Nelson*

Not a huge number of games for Barahona, who moved from Árabe Unido (Panama) on a 1 year contract, but he is the joint lowest rated member of the squad, and has 12 full caps for Panama, including 10 starts. He is at Uruguayan team Felix on SM.

Age: 21

Position: CM

Club: Atlético Huila (13th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: Mustang I - 5 (5) out of 18 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 73

Predicted rating: 78 +5

*CHAMORRO, Emerson*

Like Castillo, Chamorro is a rather old riser, so may be best suited to improving very lowly rated teams. A good number of appearances and 4 goals should ensure a decent rise.

Age: 33

Position: CM

Club: Real Cartagena (10th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: Mustang I - 11 (5) out of 18 Mustang II - 2 (1) out of 3

Goals: 4

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 79 +5

OROZCO, Norvey

He has a thread of his own, started by murph1, and is a regular for Atletico Junior, who came second in Mustang I and top of their group in the group stage, before losing to Once Caldas in the final.

Age: 18

Position: Fwd

Club: Atletico Junior (2nd)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 21 (0) out of 24 Mustang II - 2 (0) out of 3

Goals: 3

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 81 +7

ASPRILLA, Raul

Young striker with a good number of starts under his belt for his age.

Age: 17

Position: Fwd

Club: Boyaca Chico (4th)

Club average rating: 83/4

Games played: Mustang I - 7 (0) out of 24 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 78 +4

ANAYA, Alexander

Not exactly an up and coming youngster, Anaya was an ever-present in Mustang I as Cartagena finished a respectable 10th. There are few of their players on SM (see Barrios), but given their position, I can't see anything lower than an 80 for Anaya, possibly more.

Age: 29

Position: CB

Club: Real Cartagena (10th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: Mustang I - 18 (0) out of 18 Mustang II - 3 (0) out of 3

Goals: 2

Current rating: 75

Predicted rating: 80 +5

*PRECIADO, Carlos*

On SM as playing for America de Cali, Preciado actually plays for Deportivo Pereira, having being transferred from America after playing rarely for the past 2 years.

Age: 24

Position: Fwd

Club: Deportivo Pereira (12th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: Mustang I - 9 (7) out of 18 Mustang II - 0 (3) out of 3

Goals: 6

Current rating: 76

Predicted rating: 80 +4

VIAFARA, Molina

A late bloomer, Viafara was rated only 70 this time last year. He's done enough to earn another decent rise, with some predicting a new rating as high as 82. That seems a little high to me, but he should still be a profitable purchase.

Age: 27

Position: Fwd

Club: La Equidad (6th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 9 (4) out of 24 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 4

Current rating: 76

Predicted rating: 80 +4

MURILLO, Oscar

Murillo has played the majority of games for mid-table Quindio.

Age: 21

Position: CB

Club: Deportes Quindio (9th)

Club average rating: 82/3

Games played: Mustang I - 14 (0) out of 18 Mustang II - 3 (0) out of 3

Goals: 2

Current rating: 77

Predicted rating: 81 +4

ANGULO, Juan Camilo

A bit part player last year, Angulo played at least as much as every other player for his team during Mustang I.

Age: 21

Position: CB

Club: America de Cali (11th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 16 (0) out of 18 Mustang II - 2 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 77

Predicted rating: 81 +4

*MEDINA, Wilder*

This prediction is based on Medina's impressive goal scoring record coming off the bench along with Tolima's top of the table finish. However, 0 appearances so far in Mustang II is a concern.

Age: 28

Position: Fwd

Club: Deportes Tolima (1st)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 3 (13) out of 24 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 6

Current rating: 77

Predicted rating: 80 +3

NAJERA, José

One of Gozgoz8's predicted risers, Najera has made a great start to Mustang II with 2 goals in 3 games. Just how far he risers will depend on how highly Cartagena are rated following their promotion to the top division.

Age: 20

Position: AM/RM

Club: Real Cartagena (10th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: Mustang I - 12 (4) out of 18 Mustang II - 3 (0) out of 3

Goals: 4

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 81 +3

DIAZ, Alex

Looks like Diaz has well established himself as first choice left back now. Unfortunately Millianarios have been poor, preventing a larger rise.

Age: 20

Position: LB

Club: Millionarios (15th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 14 (1) out of 18 Mustang II - 2 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 81 +3

PABON, Dorlan

After rising 6 in the last set of changes, Pabon has been involved in most games for Envigado, who finished 7th in Mustang I.

Age: 21

Position: RM

Club: Envigado (7th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: Mustang I - 15 (5) out of 24 Mustang II - 2 (0) out of 3

Goals: 3

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 81 +3

CORREA, Cristian

My concern here is that Nacional did very poorly during Mustang I, so the clubs average rating should go down. Then again, there are currently 24 of their players rated 82 or above at present on SM.

Age: 23

Position: DM/CM

Club: Atlético Nacional (17th)

Club average rating: 85

Games played: Mustang I - 9 (1) out of 18 Mustang II - 0 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 81 +3

*PENALOZA, Roberto*

Having played very little football over the last 2 years, Penaloza has played the vast majority of games this season as Cúcuta finshed an impressive 3rd at the end of Mustang I.

Age: 30

Position: CB

Club: Cúcuta (3rd)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: Mustang I - 21 (0) out of 24 Mustang II - 3 (0) out of 3

Goals: 0

Current rating: 79

Predicted rating: 82 +3

AGUILAR, Danny

Another player mentioned in Gozgoz8’s thread, Aguilar has now cemented his place in the starting line-up, so his rating should reflect that.

Age: 23

Position: Fwd/AM

Club: Deportivo Cali (5th)

Club average rating: 84/5

Games played: Mustang I - 18 (3) out of 24 Mustang II - 1 (1) out of 2

Goals: 2

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

GONZALEZ, Juan Diego

Now a firmly established member of the first team at La Equidad, Gonzalez's rating should increase to recognise his status in the team.

Age: 28

Position: CB

Club: La Equidad (6th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 17 (0) out of 24 Mustang II - 3 (0) out of 3

Goals: 6

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

CARRENO, Ariel

Once Caldas only finished 8th in the league, but they managed to win the play-off, in no small part thanks to Carreno. He has now transferred to La Equidad, where they seem to be easing him in from the bench.

Age: 30

Position: Fwd

Club: Once Caldas (8th), transferred to La Equidad (6th)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: Mustang I - 19 (6) out of 26 Mustang II - 0 (2) out of 3

Goals: 6

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

Re: Section 4 Risers - Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay & USA

Ecuador

MENDEZ, Gabriel

Mentioned in mistermalcolm’s unknown South Americans thread, Mendez’s career seems to be on the way up after leaving Racing Club in Argentina where he struggled for a game.

Age: 21

Position: LM

Club: Olmedo (4th)

Club average rating: 82/3

Games played: 11 (2) out of 22

Goals: 3

Current rating: 73

Predicted rating: 78 +5

TEIXEIRA, Rodrigo

The oldest player on the thread, Teixeira seems to be enjoying an Indian summer, starting regularly up top for Cuenca.

Age: 31

Position: Fwd

Club: Deportivo Cuenca (10th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: 18 (2) out of 22

Goals: 5

Current rating: 73

Predicted rating: 80 +7

SOLANO, Daniel

Solano’s had some good playing time this season for Quito, having only appeared 3 times last time around.

Age: 20

Position: Fwd/AM

Club: Deportivo Quito (7th)

Club average rating: 85

Games played: 10 (1) out of 22

Goals: 1

Current rating: 73

Predicted rating: 79 +6

MAJAO, Jorge

Macara’s young centre back has been getting regular starts, with a solid rise being inevitable.

Age: 21

Position: CB

Club: Macara (3rd)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: 10 (2) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 79 +5

*HURTADO, Koob*

As Técnico have few players on the game, this is a hard prediction to make, but having been involved far more than he ever was at his previous club, Deportivo Cuenca, Hurtado is due an increase.

Age: 24

Position: Mid

Club: Técnico Universitario (11th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: 10 (3) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 75

Predicted rating: 78 +3

*PAREDES, Juan Carlos*

Paredes has been involved in most of Cuenca’s games this season, after returning from a loan spell at Peruvian outfit Sport Huancayo where he played 14 games, scoring 1 goal.

Age: 21

Position: AM/Wing

Club: Deportivo Cuenca (10th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: 9 (10) out of 22

Goals: 2

Current rating: 76

Predicted rating: 79 +3

AYOVI, Jaime

Emelec are top of Primera A at present, and Ayovi has played a good number of games. With so many players rated 82, 83 and 84 in the Emelec squad, a rise to 81 seems fair.

Age: 21

Position: CF

Club: Emelec (Primera Fase champions)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: 12 (0) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 81 +3

*HURTADO, Jefferson Javier*

16 starts out of 18 suggest he’s a vital part of the team. Only Barcelona’s poor form prevented a higher prediction.

Age: 21

Position: Mid

Club: Barcelona SC (9th)

Club average rating: 86

Games played: 16 (0) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 82 +4

*BOLANOS, Miller*

At Barcelona SC on SM, Bolanos impressed enough last season for high-flying Quito to pick him up, and he’s played just over 2/3rds of the games this season. 2nd in the table Quito have 11 players rated 85 or above, so a rise to 83 should not be out of the question. Should also have a position change to AM.

Age: 19

Position: Fwd

Club: LDU Quito (2nd)

Club average rating: 86

Games played: 16 (0) out of 22

Goals: 3

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

*VALENCIA, Luis Eder*

Judging by their final league position, I'd suggest that Olmedo are generally rated too low as a team at present. Not only is Valencia a key member of Olmedo's relative success, he is also a full international. He played the full 90 minutes of Ecuador's last game; a 2-0 victory over Argentina in a World Cup qualifier. Up he goes.

Age: 27

Position: AM/Fwd

Club: Olmedo (4th)

Club average rating: 82/3

Games played: 20 (2) out of 22

Goals: 1

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

Bonus player

This guy does not meet the specifications outlined in my original post, but he could still be a riser who could benefit small clubs.

BIELER, Claudio

After shining for Argentine second division side Atletico Rafaela, Bieler moved on to Colo Colo of Chile, before signing for Quito in 2008. He scored 12 league goals last season, and also scored in the World Club Cup, where Quito lost to Man Utd in the final. This season, he’s grabbed an awesome 16 in 19 games. Given this feat, I’m convinced he should now be on an equal footing with the top rated players in the Quito side.

Age: 25

Position: CF

Club: LDU Quito

Club average rating: 86

Games played: 19 (0) out of 22

Goals: 16!

Current rating: 85

Predicted rating: 87 +2

Re: Section 4 Risers - Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay & USA

Paraguay

TORANZO, Gustavo

2 de Mayo, Toranzo’s team, are poor, but he has become a regular after transferring from Arsenal de Sarandi of Argentina, where he rarely played.

Age: 21

Position: CB

Club: 2 de Mayo (11th)

Club average rating: 80

Games played: 16 (2) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 71

Predicted rating: 78 +7

*SASIAIN, José*

A decent number of starts for the young forward, after playing so infrequently for his former club, Olimpia, last season.

Age: 22

Position: Fwd

Club: 12 de Octubre (10th)

Club average rating: 80/1

Games played: 6 (0) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 71

Predicted rating: 75 +4

*RAMOS, Eric*

A tricky prediction to make with so few Rubio Nu players on SM, so this one could go either way.

Age: 22

Position: Mid

Club: Rubio Nu (8th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: 10 (4) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 72

Predicted rating: 77 +5

SANTANDER, Federico

I'm not 100% that the stats I have are for this player, so approach with caution. If I have the right guy, he's played for Paraguay under-20s. and scores a fair few goals.

Age: 18

Position: CF

Club: Guarani (7th)

Club average rating: 83

Games played: 5 (5) out of 22

Goals: 3

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 78 +4

*VALINOTTI, Sergio*

He is down as having no club on SM after being released from his former club, Guarani. However, he has now played every game for struggling 12 de Octubre, making a solid rise a necessity.

Age: 26

Position: GK

Club: 12 de Octubre (10th)

Club average rating: 80/1

Games played: 22 (0) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 74

Predicted rating: 79 +5

*RIVEROS, Marcos*

He played a few in last season’s Clausura, with 5 starts and 3 sub appearances. He’s still starting a decent number of games, and should rise at least 3 to reflect this.

Age: 21

Position: AM

Club: Club Nacional (3rd)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: 7 (4) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 75

Predicted rating: 78 +3

*GONZALEZ, Ivan*

Having started half the games for his club during the Apertura, Gonzalez will surely be in for a solid rise.

Age: 22

Position: Fwd

Club: Sol de América (9th)

Club average rating: 82

Games played: 11 (2) out of 22

Goals: 2

Current rating: 75

Predicted rating: 78 +3

*SARA, Juan*

Playing for a highly rated team, I believe that Sara's appearances a worthy of a rise of at least 3.

Age: 32

Position: Fwd/AM

Club: Cerro Portena (Apertura champions)

Club average rating: 84/5

Games played: 7 (2) out of 22

Goals: 1

Current rating: 75

Predicted rating: 78 +3

*BAREIRO, Nery*

21 starts out of 22 suggest this young centre back should be rated alongside other regulars for mid-table Tacuary.

Age: 21

Position: CB

Club: Tacuary (5th)

Club average rating: 82

Games played: 21 (0) out of 22

Goals: 1

Current rating: 76

Predicted rating: 80 +4

*NUNEZ, Jose*

Bareiro’s young teammate has also been involved in almost every game, with a few goals banged in as well.

Age: 20

Position: Fwd

Club: Tacuary (5th)

Club average rating: 82

Games played: 20 (1) out of 22

Goals: 6

Current rating: 76

Predicted rating: 80 +4

*ORTIZ, Celso*

Cerro are comfortably top of the league at present, and Ortiz has started half of their games. I think this prediction is on the conservative side if anything; there are lots of Cerro players rated above 80 on SM.

Age: 20

Position: AM

Club: Cerro Portena (Apertura champions)

Club average rating: 84/5

Games played: 11 (1) out of 22

Goals: 3

Current rating: 77

Predicted rating: 80 +3

*SAMUDIO, Miguel*

Samudio started just 1 game all last season, but has now become a regular starter for high-flying Libertad, and should make you a healthy profit.

Age: 22

Position: LM/AM

Club: Libertad (2nd)

Club average rating: 85/6

Games played: 18 (1) out of 22

Goals: 2

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 83 +5

VELAZQUEZ, Pablo

This guy has his own thread started by Gozgoz8 and hasn’t slowed down. Loads of goals for Rubio Nu after failing to make an impact at Libertad last time round.

Age: 22

Position: Fwd

Club: Rubio Nu (8th)

Club average rating: ?

Games played: 20 (0) out of 22

Goals: 16

Current rating: 78

Predicted rating: 83 +5

*DON, Ignacio*

Regained his place this year having played sporadically during the 2008/2009 season. I’m less confident about this than other predictions, so approach with caution.

Age: 27

Position: GK

Club: Club Nacional (3rd)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: 21 (0) out of 22

Goals: 0

Current rating: 79

Predicted rating: 82 +3

*MENDOZA, David* (Not mentioned this calendar year)

17 starts out of 22 for table-toppers Cerro Porteno has seen Mendoza build on last season’s progress. He should now be approaching the average rating for the first 11. Suddenly dropped towards the end of the campaign; I assume he was injured.

Age: 24

Position: CB

Club: Cerro Portena (Apertura champions)

Club average rating: 84/5

Games played: 17 (0) out of 22

Goals: 1

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

*BELTRAN, Guillermo* (Not mentioned this calendar year)

Having struggled for a game for Nacional in last season's Apertura, Beltran went on loan to 12 de Octobre during the Clausura, where he saw regular 1st team football and scored 6 goals, earning him a +4 rise to 80. He's now broken into the 1st team at the far superior Club Nacional, and his impressive goal tally should see him rise again.

Age: 25

Position: Fwd

Club: Club Nacional (3rd)

Club average rating: 84

Games played: 13 (3) out of 22

Goals: 8

Current rating: 80

Predicted rating: 83 +3

Re: Section 4 Risers - Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay & USA

Nice work there.

Wondered if you know' date=' how is Felipe Pardo playing and will he rise much? Heard he's playing over 10 games this season, but already had a boost on SM.[/quote']

Don't know about his current form, but he's started 6 and come on as sub 9 times, with 2 goals. Can't see much of a rise from those stats, but surely a good future propect, being so involved at just 18.

A fellow Deportivo Cali player who could be of interest is BATALLA, Pablo.

*BATALLA, Pablo*

After failing to make his mark in Argentina, Batalla transferred to Deportivo Cali last season, playing quite regularly in Mustang II (16 starts, 5 subs + 2 goals). He's played most games this term, but more importantly has 10 goals; better than 1 in every 2 games. Cali players top out at 86, but with that kind of record, surely Batalla should be pushing them close.

Age: 25

Position: AM/LM

Club: Deportivo Cali

Club average rating: 84

Games played: 18 (2) out of 23

Goals: 10!

Current rating: 82

Predicted rating: 84/5 +2/3

I don't follow the leagues closely - just a fair amount of spare time on my hands recently. I suggest you ask Insider about any Brazilians; he knows the league inside out.
