Gabon, Dream Of Unknown Country

bandera-gabon.gif

The dream of all countries to take part in next edition of World Cup that will held in South Africa next year. The inhabitans of Gabon have a great reason to be hopeful view for the first time in history to his selection in World Cup, had never before achieved.

And there's reason to believe miracles in Africa, look to Angola and Togo when they qualify to 2006 World Cup. This is first time World Cup will held in African nation, so it has special flavor in addition to being an incentive for the teams on the continent

It'll be difficult journey to Gabon as their group consists Cameroon,Togo and Morocco. And they currently the group after beat Morocco 1-2 and Togo 3-0 just from 2 games while 2nd and 3rd, Togo and Morocco already played 3 games. After those 2 games, Gabon coach, Alain Giressehas become national hero.

World Cup Qualification also qualification for 2010 Africa Cup in Angola, so there is aim for Gabon to participated in Angola, where they don't participate in last few African Cups. Although they can be considered as Cinderella in their group, because the other three have a lot experience, but Gabon never show fear to anyone

Among the weapons in Gabon team, it's veteran striker Daniel Cousin who currently featured on the Hull City in English Premier League. It maybe will be last attempt for Cousin to take Gabon to final round of World Cup. But not only Cousin the quality from Gabon. They are including Didier Ovono, Dinamo Tbilisi goalkeeper, Aymard Mve, Lille player, midfielder Stephane Nguema and Eric Mouloungui. Also to mention Fabrice Do Marcolino of SCO Angers.

Beside senior players, Gabon hang their hope to young talents. This young talents will add balance to team and hopefully will be key players for Gabon in Africa Cup 2012 where will be held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Some of them already show their talents in Europe. I'll show them in next post

I read that Pierre will be playing on loan at Lille next season.

He seems like an interesting player. Quite alot of Rossoneri fans want this guy back at San Siro ASAP.

Re: Road To South Africa : Gabon, Next Surprise From Africa?

I do hope Gabon can upset things & qualify from Group A. They have home & away games against Cameroon over a 4 day period in September & that could really be the key.

For those who don't know African qualifying is now down to 5 groups of 4 with the only the group winner going to SA. The next round of games on September 5th could go a long way to settling matters.

Group B - Will be either Tunisia or Nigeria. They play each other in Nigeria on Sept 5th.

Group C - I hate to say it but most likely Algeria. Play 2nd placed Zambia at home next. (Lets hope the Chipolopolo can turn them over & nick the group)

Group D - Ghana, without even breaking sweat!

Group E - Cote D'Ivoire. 100% record so far & they can seal it qualification at home to 2nd placed Burkina Faso in the next game.
