Welcome to the Football League

Burton Albion

2 In 2 for Warren's Men

Burton Albion keep there 100% record in the Football League after a dominating display against Rochdale at the Spotland Stadium Last night.

It was a quiet first few minutes in the match, with Rochdale's Kyle Lambert coming the closest to scoring, and Burton also had a good chance through last weeks hero Maksim Grigorev. Barry Corr also had a good chance to open the scoring for the Brewers, but he watched the ball fly over the bar with the goal begging at his mercy.

But finally, The Deadlock was broken in the 19th minute by the Brewers Irish frontman Barry Corr, who used his blistering pace to get away from the defenders, and wonderfully chipped the keeper and rolled into the net. With 20 minutes gone, the Brewers were ahead.

The big Irishman opened the scoring for the Brewers.

After the goal, Rochdale started to get some chances, with Gary Jones coming very close to equalising, and Liam Dickinson also came close for Rochdale.

But always, Burton looked so dangerous on the break, with Junior Stanislas showing some blistering pace to get past his man and almost curling it into the bottom corner. The young Brazilian Midfielder, Rodrigo Possebon, on loan from Manchester United, also came close to extending the lead.

Then, just on the stroke of half time, Burton extended their lead through West Ham United loanee Junior Stanislas, who lost his marker and thumped the ball low into the bottom corner. The Brewers were 2-0 up going into the break.

Stanislas Extends Burton's lead as they go into half time 2-0 up.

As the second half started, Burton started on the front foot, and were looking to grab a third, to really put the game to bed, and thats just what they did.

The Brazilian Playmaker, Possebon, hit a wonderful curling shot from 25 yards out right into the top right hand corner off the post, and crashed into the back of the net, and you felt it was pretty much game over for Rochdale then.

After the goal, Burton wanted more goals, and came close through Stanislas and Gill, who both smashed the bar and Russian Forward Grigorev also came close, but in the end, Burton held the ball, and played the game out, and another clean sheet was a big positive along with the 3 points.

Sam Warren was pleased with his teams performance, and also pleased with the progress of his squad, as he plans to build and make a good side out of nothing.

Possebon wrapped up the points for Burton with a 25 yard scorcher.

Welcome to the Football League

Burton Albion

3 in a Row Takes the Brewers to the Top

A first half display from the Brewers was enough to see them walk away with 3 points and their 100% record in tact, after a well fort 2-1 win over Crewe Alexandra.

Burton came absolutely flying out of the traps, right from the first minute. The first chance came in the 5th minute, when Junior Stanislas watched his shot go inches wide of the post, and this showed a sign that Burton were up for it.

Then, 3 minutes later, Burton had broken the deadlock. The Russian Youngster Maksim Grigorev, poked home is 2nd goal of the season, after a huge scramble in Crewe's 6 yard box, Grigorev bundled the ball over the line, but as the say, they all count, and the Brewers went 1-0 up after 8 minutes at Gresty Road.

The Brewers came flying out of the blocks, and grabbed a goal through Grigorev in only the 8th minute.

Then almost immediately after, Junior Stanislas went past 4 players and put it past Crewe goalkeeper John Ruddy, and into the net. Burton looked completely dominant, and looked like they could score 5 or 6.

Stanislas Extends Burton's lead in only the 9th minute as they go 2-0 up.

Soon after the goal, Crewe started to fight back, forcing Burton keeper Thomas Kaminski into some fine saves. Ryan France also came close for Crewe, but blazed his shot over, with an open goal begging at his mercy.

But on 20 minutes, Crewe managed to get a goal back through Left Back Alan Sheehan, who used his pace a power to put it into the back of the net, and to pull one back for the home side.

After the goal, the first half was very end to end, with both sides having their fair share of chances.

Grigorev and Possebon both came close for Burton, while Joel Grant, Eugen Bopp and Ryan France, all came close to levelling the scores for Crewe.

Matthew Gill managed to come away with a yellow card just before the Half Time whistle, for kicking the ball away.

In the Second Half, Crewe came out with a meaning, coming close on a number of occasions through Eugen Bopp and Ruben Zadkovich. Crewe keeper John Ruddy was also forced into some good saves, with Paul Boertein inches away from scoring for Burton.

Marc Muniesa also caming close for the Brewers, but watchd his 20 yard curling shot go just wide. Stanislas continued to look a constent threat all across the pitch, with his blistering pace and fancy footwork, and came close to extending Burton's lead.

Burton picked up their second yellow card of the day through Luke Devere, after a late challenge, as crewe started to turn up the heat as they searched for an equalizer, but Thomas Kaminski continued to frustrate, as he pulled off some fine saves from Ryan France inparticular.

But in the end, the early goals seemed to be vital, as Burton picke up maximum points, and keep their 100% record in the Football League.

Kaminski made some fine saves to keep Crewe at bay and they provd to be vital as Burton came away with all 3 points.

Re: Welcome to the Football League - Burton Albion EC 3853

Another win for us, makes it 4 wins out of 4, a 3-1 win last night against Torquay, its all looking good at the moment, would like to bring in a couple more new faces, maybe a Midfielder a Wide Player and a couple of strikers, and then I can say Ive got a steady squad for now.

Re: Welcome to the Football League - Burton Albion EC 3853

Lost my first Game to Carlisle on Saturday night 4-2, and deservedly so, but you can't win every game can you :o.

Cup match tonight against Yeovil, not really fussed about the Cups, so ive put out a weaker side, see if they cause an upset.
