Confusion In Eastlands, As Mark Hughes Resigns as Boss

After a fairly successful season in 2008/2009 with Manchester City finishing in 10th position, Mark Hughes was expected to take the Blues to new heights next season with a cash injection set to take place on Wednesday July 1st. However, after an apparent fall out with Sheikh Al Mubarak over transfer discussions, Mark Hughes and his associates issued the following statement explaining the situation.

During talks with Sheikh Al Mubarak, Mark Hughes called time on his career at Manchester City, and hence resigned as First Team coach. Hughes would like to thank the fans, and the backroom staff at Manchester City for a brilliant first season at Eastlands, however Hughes feel that his career would be best put to use elsewhere. Mark Hughes will also keep a close eye out for Manchester City as he believes they will reach great heights next season.

Reports from Eastlands delving deeper into the current situation suggest Hughes was unhappy with the vast amounts of pressure in the transfer window ahead of next season. Hughes was also said to be uncomfortable with the current hype around the club, and thus leading to Hughes walking out of the lucrative manegerial post and many names are begining to being linked with the vacant post. David Moyes, Martin Jol, Martin O'Neill and an unknown local manager from the Grassroot scene close to the clubs training ground have all been linked with the post. A press conference is set to come shortly announcing who will take the reigns at the East-Manchester club. However, it looks favourable that David Moyes will take the job with some bookmakers slashing the odds and stopping money being put on the current Everton manager.

Don't Believe The Hype - New Manager At MCFC

After it looking promosing that Scotsman David Moyes was set to take-over as Manchester City boss, talks seemed to break down at a very late stage and Manchester City were rocked by the news of the dissapointment that Moyes wouldn't be managing the blues for the upcoming season. So then Garry Cook and Sheikh Al Mubarak moved quickly to secure their next manegerial target this being, Adam Selby. A die-hard Manchester City fan who was managing Fletcher Moss Juniors at a grassroots level. His qualities however apparently were surplus to requirments of that of Cook and Mubarak.

So at around 11:50PM in a rushed press conference from the Colin Bell Boardroom Suite inside the City Of Manchester Stadium, Selby waved to fans and shook hands of the officials in the room. Selby stated he was overwhelmed and astonished that he was one of Manchester City's choices as manager, and he couldn't believe his luck when he was linked and then approached for the job. Selby was stated to have accepted the job based on the contract terms and the plans that the MCFC staff and backroom staff had in action ahead of the current season. Mubarak and Cook weren't present on the evening, but left a short message wishing Selby the best of luck and stating that they can't wait to get into work in bolstering the side for the 09/10 season. Selby after signing autographs for fans in the Suite at a Fans Forum, stated that he wanted City fans to be aware that changes will take place within the next 4-5 days.

Some Fans uncertain over Selby's Appointment as Manager

Overnight, it has become apparent that after Selby was announced to the new first team coach of Manchester City FC, comments and quotes from fans have been sent in to local aspects of the media with the overall response being a response of uncertainty over the sudden appointment as manager. It's known widely that Selby wasn't first choice for the manegerial post, but he was very high up on the list of Garry Cook and Sheikh Al Mubarak, and that they believe he can do the job to it's best under his management.

In a short interview with local fans in the Club's merchandise shop, one fan was said to be 'bewildered' with the appointment stating that Selby was the wrong move for the future of Manchester City. Another fan said he was concerned about the welfare of the club in the current transfer window questioning whether Selby was up to strengthening the squad to it's full extent. However, on a lighter note one fan was seen with Selby on the back of the 09/10 jersey. It's clear overall uncertainty bellow beneath the City Of Manchester Stadium, but it looks like Selby will continue to do his job and reward the fans with brilliant peformances from the club.

Details Of Selby's contract leaked, in Local Paper

Local newspaper, the Manchester Daily News has managed to get a photocopy of the contract which Selby is to have at Manchester City for the upcoming season. Many talks had been in place over how much money Selby would be given for transfers and strengthening the squad ahead of the 09/10 season with figures such as £40.0 Million being avidly used. However, it's apparent that Selby's transfer budget is only £22.2 Million which is below the estimates being reported. As for a yearly wage, Selby is reported to be earning atleast treble the wage he was earning at grassroot level, but an actual figure is unknown.

Also, local media have managed to get hold of some of the many contract clauses in Selby's lucrative contract. In a contract that has been signed up till June 2012, the main clause states that Selby is permitted to answer job offers during his time as manager and he is permitted permission to discuss contract terms with other clubs if interest is expressed. Another clause in the contract is that their is no limit on how much Selby can spend as long as it is in the interest of the club. As for the Board's expectations reports suggest that Selby is expected to mount a serious title challenge and achieve a good cup run in either the Shield or Cup competition. Reports also state that Selby must attempt to build a strong side set to compete with other teams in Division 2 and hopefully Division 1 depending on promotion.

Fury At Man City. Deals for Eto'o & Tevez are off

Even though transfers aren't official the player and his associates sign on the dotted line, it's not a mystery that both Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o were close to agreeing deals with Manchester City. However, due to the change in manager, both Tevez and Eto'o have cancelled possible deals to Manchester City causing uproar amongst fans on local radio stations. Eto'o was expected to complete a deal later this week, with Tevez to be announced within the next few days, but Hughes sudden departure has lead to these players returning to their original clubs.

It's believed that after hearing the news of a change in manager both players changed their minds over their proposed move, but Selby didn't end the talks there and chased both players to see whether a deal could be salvaged. But Selby's efforts didn't achieve anything and both players and their representatives have made public statements that they are to stay at their individual club for the upcoming season. Some fans are upset and angered by the events, and morale towards Selby seems to be low, but Sheikh Al Mubarak has simply expressed that he wants fans to have patience and he assures all fans to be optimistic ahead of the upcoming season and Selby's capabilities.

Selby promises new signings within Hours

After the failed attempts to lure Eto'o and Tevez to the City Of Manchester Stadium, Selby has been criticised for his attitude in the transfer window and his easy approach which doesn't work for players with a reputation of a high calibre. Critics have stated possibly that his grassroots experience isn't good enough to lure players in, but in response to these claims Selby has come out and stated that changes are to happen at Man City within the next few hours.

It's believed that Selby is hoping to bring in at least 4 new signings by the end of today, and in this players will be used in part exchange to cut down the massive wage bill at the club, and to shrink the large squad size into a smaller, yet stronger and more reliable squad. However, fans are still questioning whether these players will live up to the quality of Tevez and Eto'o who are no longer coming to the Blue after Selby's attempts to finalise the deal with both of them collapsed late last night.

Fans ponder Selby's Transfer Targets

Following the statement from Selby stating that he expected to complete signings for at-least 4 players on the market. Some fans believe that a big name superstar could be on his way with Franck Ribery and David Villa both looking for moves away from the respective clubs. However, some fans believe that Selby would be best to strengthen the side by bringing in quality youth players from accross the world. A press conference will confirm later who the signings are and fans are permitted to tune in and watch the unveiling.

Local Newspapers after hearing the news of transfers to Manchester City have worked effortlessly to try and leak the signings, however their efforts have come up short and papers have failed to get any players name in the frame to sign for Manchester City. However it doesn't stop the endless rumours and a collective rumour most papers are discussing is the possible sale of Lee Cattermole to Manchester City. Papers reportedly witnessed the player leaving the City training complex in Carrington but many sources say he was simply visiting former players from the Under-21 England team and training with the squad following a Knee-Ligament injury.

Swedish Reports suggest Berg, Now plays for MCFC

Swedish newspapers and aspects of the media are reporting that clinical swedish striker, Marcus Berg is boarding a plane outward to Manchester to finalise terms over a deal which will see the Under-21 star move to the City Of Manchetser Stadium. These reports must be classed as unofficial as there has been no confirmation on the Manchester City official website or a press conference to confirm the reports are true. This is suspected to come later this afternoon, if reports are true.

However, many City fans are very serious about this transfer with some going to the lengths of getting his name printed onto the back of their shirts at such a preliminary stage. People have gone to these lengths as Swedish Reuters press reporting this have been very reliable in the past and have confirmed many transfers of swedish stars in the past few years such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Inter and Marcus Rosenberg to Werder Bremen. It's certain if Berg does eventually complete a transfer to the blue side of Manchester, he will provide a deadly and clinical attacking threat along with Robinho, Bellamy and Santa Cruz.

Press Conference, Confirms Berg's Arrival

After reports suggested that Marcus Berg was to join Manchester City in a deal which would see Adam Selby clinch his first signing of the Summer, the media frenzy was still as big a day later and thus leading to an emergency press conference. The Pre-Press conference programme stated it was to showcase the new sponsor, but behind close doors it was to announce to the footballing world that Marcus Berg would be the first Summer acquisition for the Blues. And the hype didn’t fail to disappoint as approximately 18:00GMT, Selby and Garry Cook took to the stage with a chair inbetween the two delegates left for somebody special as ‘Selby’ stated. And onto the stage two minutes later, wrapped in a Blue and White scarf, accompanying with the new training Jersey for the 09/10 season was Marcus Berg. Berg’s arrival mirrored many of the biggest arrivals in all aspects of the world. It’s definetly certain that Marcus Berg, even though some fans criticised his quality, was definetly looked upon by many fans as a fantastic and great value signing.

Marcus Berg obviously overwhelmed by the fan’s and media hype took to the stage and stole the limelight from Cook and Selby. Berg simply stated as all players do, that he was looking forward to working with Selby and that he was very delighted and pleased to be playing in the English Premier League after dreaming about it for many years as a child, growing up in Sweden. Berg also stated that he is thrilled to be patterning either Roque Santa Cruz or Craig Bellamy upfront for the majority of the season, and hopes that between them they can pose a deadly, attacking threat and prove the critics that they are as good as the previously promised Samuel Eto’o and Carlos Tevez. Berg then proceeded in answering questions from local, national and worldwide press and even after his hectic, and busy schedule, Berg left the Press Conference suite to greet fans who had gathered outside the stadium and pose for pictures. It’s certain that Berg in this one event has proved to fans he’s certainly committed and eager to get playing in the Blue and White jersey next season, which begins on Saturday.

Another Signing On the Cards?

Online fan forums, and local radios are crashing due to the sheer amount of phone calls and emails over one topic. According to many sources, many of the fans welcoming Marcus Berg also believe that they witnessed Luis Antonio Valencia shake hands with Garry Cook as the press conference ended, and with the Ecuadorian player's car parked outside the ground also contributes to the hype, and propaganda proposing that Valencia made the short trip to Manchester. It's believed Manchester United were set to clinch his signature, but a bid reported to use two players in part-exchange helped Selby secure his possibly second transfer signing of the season.

After Valencia was also spotted by local press and media, the person reported to be Valencia held his silence, and was whisked away back to his car, and disappeared into the distance. Fans at the ground were said to be astonished to see Valencia at the ground, with many hoping that Selby has officially finalised the deal to bring him to the City Of Manchester Stadium. One fan was quoted to say: 'I've admired Valencia for many seasons wishing he would make the short trip up the M62, to Eastlands. I'm very hopefuly of seeing him in the Manchester City jersey next season'. A press conference has been called tonight, which is expected to announce the signing of Valencia but this news is not confirmed by the club on their official website.

Summer Signing Number 2 is Confirmed - Valencia Signs For MCFC

Shortly after radio stations and other aspects of the media were flooded with remarks and quotes from avid City fans stating that the player was in attendance at Marcus Berg's unveiling and Press Conference, Selby made the trip to a neutral location along with Luis Antonio Valencia and staged a low-key, late night press conference. Regardless of it's popularity and publicity, it confirmed one thing which has had Wigan Atletic fans puzzled for a while. Will Valencia move to another EPL club, or will he stay put. However, within seconds of the Press Conference, with only two to three media companies on hand to record the conference, Selby stated that he was 'Delighted to announce that Manchester City have worked effortlessly to bring in a World-Class winger', and Selby confirmed that 'Luis Antonio Valencia put pen to paper at 23:00GMT and signed a 5 year contract at Manchester F.C'.

Valencia is the second signing under Selby's reign as manager, however it's expected that he won't be the last either. It's reported Selby wants to add further to his squad by replacing dead wood in the squad with young, and upcoming prospects that will add a different dimension to the squad. It's believed a Centre Back, Central Midfield and a replacement Goalkeeper are on Selby's most wanted list. Valencia was said to be 'honoured to be approached by both Man United and Man City', and regardless of the money or inscentives in his contract, he believed that 'Manchester City have a great future ahead, and he hopes he can contribute to their success and be part of a great league campaign in the 09/10 season'. It's suspected but not 100% confirmed that more news of Selby's transfer coup's will be announced over the weekend, along with a match preview ahead of the start of the season on Saturday 4th July.

Fans said to be pleased with Selby's Attitude

Early polls and surveys suggest that after Selby's threat of minor-popularity and the problems with Tevez and Eto'o failed transfer attempts, that Selby has regained the popularity he had at grassroot level and places Selby in a more favourable position than former Welsh boss Mark Hughes at this stage of the season, in 2008. Many sources say that Selby's direct and fierce epitah in the transfer window, has worked to the Blues full advantage and has managed to beat opposition to the signatures of Luis Antonio Valencia and Marcus Berg and many players are expected to join in the similar way and approach.

After hearing these results, Selby brushed off the results stating he was only doing his job, however he stated how thankful he is to City's loyal and trustworthy fans stating that he hoped he could repay their strong faith with success next season. However, Selby also stated that he wanted fans to be aware that more players will leave in Part Exchange deals, and also stated that at least 3-4 players have made way for the signatures of Luis Antonio Valencia and Marcus Berg. It's believed the exact players names will be announced tomorrow in an official statement on the club's website.

Selby's 3rd Transfer Leaked on Stoke Website

It's believed that after Selby participated in various press conferences and interviews yesterday, backstage talks were being finalised over a deal which would see 21 year old English defender Ryan Shawcross swap the Britannia Stadium to Eastlands. The player valued at around £6Million in the footballing industry, has been at the brunt of rave reviews with many people saying he is the future of English International football. Other clubs such as Everton and Fulham had been previously linked with Shawcross but these reports suggest that Man City have swooped in quick succession for the player.

The story first went up on the Stoke FC website late last night, under the headline Shawcross becomes a citizen. The article went on to say that Ryan Shawcross was taking a medical at Manchester City ahead of a proposed move to Manchester City. The deal was around to be the £5 Million mark, and could rise to £6 Million based on appearances and International call-ups. The transfer then became official as Selby was quizzed leaving his home, and he confirmed that City are to finalise a deal and Shawcross would put pen to paper to sign for Manchester City. In a brief statement he stated that Shawcross is a fantastic player, and he believes he is the future of English football.

4th Transfer Announced Ahead of 1st Game

After a quiet 24 hours in Manchester, it's expected that Saturday will be a very busy day at the City Of Manchester Stadium. After a slow start, reports began to emerge that Peterborough and England Under 21 Goal Keeper Joe Lewis was reportedly heading down to Manchester City's training complex to participate in a light medical and put pen to paper on a 5 year contract. Lewis was vital in Peterborough League 1 campaign, and with a whole host of clubs interested in Lewis, City acted first swapping former Villa keeper Stuart Taylor in the deal. Lewis, Age 21 will be Shay Given's understudy and could be loaned out to another team to gain vital match experience.

It's believed that even though there are other areas that need strengthening, Selby couldnt refuse to not buy a player with so much potential and acted fast before he was snapped up before anybody else launched a bid. Stuart Taylor wished to play first team football in a lower league division, and swapping him for Lewis according to Selby was the best for both players, and he wished Taylor the best of success in the near future. Selby also stated that he plans to announce at least two more transfers before tonight's first match against Everton at Goodison Park, and a pre-match preview announcing who has made Selby's Starting XI before his first match, with the glaring eyes of the media watching evidently.

Fans Left Confused Over Weekend Events

It was expected that manager Adam Selby or other associates at the club, would make it public which players were to start in Selby's first league match to Merseyside outfit Everton and information on two transfers that were set to be completed. However, after the news of Joe Lewis joining the club, no information or articles which were eagerly awaited by the world's media were produced and published causing confusion amongst many fans. It's believed that these events have not only led to a state of confusion, but a belief beyond fans that Selby is not up for the job, and failing to make sure basic necessities like these have been published is simply not on.

A statement from the Mancunian club has stated that they are very sorry for the events of Saturday 4th July, and he put the club to blame, not just Selby. One of Selby's associates briefly was quoted to say there was a lack of communication between the press and the manager, and Selby's inexperience resulted in todays events. It's believed even though behind schedule, the club will still inform the footballing world who they have signed in a press conference, announcing each player one by one, tomorrow along with Selby's drafted squad for the upcoming season, and a match report over the eagerly awaited first game at Goodison Park. Finally, the clubs wants to reassure fans that the club is functioning correctly and there is nothing to worry about. All in a days work.

Full Statement from Manchester City F.C

A full statement over the weekend's events have been published on Manchester City fan forums, before being published on the Official Website. Chairman Garry Cook, and Secretary Sheikh Al Mubarak would like to express their deepest concern over the weekends events. We understand that many City fans have been left puzzled, and concerned but we would like to inform everybody not to be worried or concerned over the effort put into management by Adam Selby. Regardless of no official team selection, Selby still has our full trust and respect, and we will continue to keep working in this manner for the upcoming fixtures.

As with the issue of transfers, it wasn't that you weren't informed, but the contributing factor to why the team selection for Saturday's game against Everton wasn't made official, was due to complications with the contracts of 2/3 new signings. We can confirm that these transfers have been completed, and a press conference will take place later day, confirming who we have signed one by one. Following this will be a match report over last night's match, along with interviews and statements with manager Adam Selby over key issues surrounding the club. We would like to end, by re-assuring fans that regardless of any problems this weekend with team selection and transfers, the club is still functioning to FA Rules, and restrictions and we want to reassure you that there is nothing to worry about.

Spartak Striker completes Man City move

The first of two transfers set to be announced, has been confirmed. 22 year old, Brazilian Striker 'Soares Welliton' who has played most of his career at Spartak Moskva in the Russian Premier Division, has put pen to paper and signed a lucrative deal which will see Welliton earn £25,00 a turn and stay at the club for approximately 3 years. The Brazilian striker who isn't in a favourable position in the International team selection hopes a move to England will boost his chances for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where he hopes to feature along with Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato and Luis Fabiano, in Brazil's attacking threat. Welliton is now the third attacking Brazilian at the club, and it's believed that Selby wants to create a strong, attacking front with Elano, Robinho and Welliton showing their Brazilian masterclass.

This signing is now Selby's 5th of the Transfer Window, and as usual Selby was pleased with the signing. In a brief statement, Selby stated the conventional items of media stating he looked forward to seeing Welliton start for Manchester City along strong strikers at the club, and he hopes that Robinho and Elano will make him feel straight at home, with the idea of a Brazilian attacking force at the centre of Manchester City's push for league, and cup success. Welliton, 22 was available for comment after being unveiled, but sources close to the player believe that he is overjoyed with the move and believes that is a wonderful opportunity that had to be taken with both hands. After being whisked away in quick succession, fans are preparing themselves to who Selby's 6th Summer signing will be.

Hertha Berlin star seals the deal

The final signing which was planned to be announced has come to light, and the player in the frame is 22 year old, Hertha Berlin Central Midfielder, Gojko Kačar. It's belived Kacar has been unsettled at Hertha for a long period of time, due to frustration of endless seasons, without success in a fairly competitive Bundesliga. Kacar who is reasonably priced in comparison to Brazilian Attacking Mid with the same Kaka, has put pen to paper and signed a deal for 5 years, which will keep Kacar at the club till 2013 at the earliest. However, there is a release clause on his contract, of £17 Million. Many fans haven't heard much about Kacar, but his reviews in Germany have been five star, and has given fans a sense of optimism to the transfer.

Selby, who looked more relieved to have finished today's transfer attack yet again thanked the fans for their commitment, and hopes that he has repayed their commitment with the signings of Kacar and Welliton. Selby stated that along with Welliton, Kacar was a 22 year old, who he has admired for a long time, and enjoyed watching his stunning peformances for Hertha BSC in key fixtures. It's time he played for a club that are moving in the right direction, and we believe that this is a great opportunity for Gojko. Kacar was unavailable to comment, but at the press conference, a smile beamed of his face, showing he was very pleased and delighted with the transfer to the Blue side of Manchester. Selby said that this would be some of the last transfers he thinks the club will do, for a couple of days, with team selection and match reports his main focus.

Manchester City get off to a flying start! - 5th July 2009

31_1229339837.jpg280_front_small.gifVs.11_front_small.gif47_1190143104.gif

Everton 1-2 Manchester City

Marcus Berg (22)

Hernan Crespo (46)

Marcus Berg (68)

After all the confusion surrounding Selby's starting XI for the first match of the season, the match kicked of at 20:00GMT and Selby's manegerial career was firmly underway. After proving to be a very successful and devious manager in the transfer window, the first real test was the opening game of the season. Not only was it Selby's debut manegerial match, but a local North-West derby. Odds before the game were favourite for a 1-1 draw with very good odds on Everton to clinch the match. However on a whole, it was Manchester City who produced a fine display to beat a very strong Everton side. Opting for a 4-3-3 formation, Selby's side even though they were away from home, started in an attacking frame of mind using the players on the Wings to the full extent.

Both teams got off to a very lively start, attacking at each end providing fantastic end to end football. However, it was Manchester City who managed to grab the first goal. Swedish U21 striker Marcus Berg sent the Away fans wild, with a goal worthy of any world-class player in the world. A well driven, low effort beat Tim Howard in the Everton goalmouth and put The Citizens ahead on the 22nd minute. The game then hit a very quiet part with both clubs struggling to get the all important breakthrough and add a second goal to the match, but by half time, Manchester City were ahead by one goal to nil. Both teams re-entered in the second half, both wanting a goal however it was Everton who made the most of the Half-Time break with former Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo coming on as a substitute and grabbing a goal on the 46th minute to put the score at 1-1. It was anyone's game now and with both teams attacking evenly, either one of the teams could have scored the all-important second goal. And it was Manchester City who capatalised on this, with Marcus Berg bagging a second goal, and thus leading Selby's all-important first three points as Manager.

Manchester City Player Ratings - 4th July 2009

Local Press have been commenting on the first match of Selby's manegerial career, and an overall average rating of each player has been taken. All players are to be reviewed below, taking their peformance and effort into account.

1. GK = Shay Given:

Shay Given produced a fine peformance, only letting in one goal to Argentinian goal-scorer Herman Crespo. However, regardless of conceding, Given was forced to produce some fine saves, and was a key player in the North-West derby.

Rating = 7

2. RB = Pablo Zabaleta:

After a shaky start failing to close down Everton attacks, the Argentine settled down comfortably and blocked any major incoming goal threat from Everton. He did his job well to secure victory at Goodison Park.

Rating = 6

3. LB = Wayne Bridge:

Wayne Bridge who had played this fixture for both Chelsea and Man City last season, managed to comfortably stop any incoming attacking threat and worked well patrolling the left wing from defence.

Rating = 6

4. CB = Richard Dunne:

In the last few weeks the Media have reported R.Dunne is to move to Portsmouth in a transfer deal, however transfer talks didn't effect his peformance, and the Irishman produced a solid, defensive display in the local derby.

Rating = 7

5. CB = Micah Richards:

His never-ending Knee injury didn't seem to effect the 21 year old today, as Micah Richards played a key role in stopping any oncoming attacks from Everton's strikers. Very good peformance by the English U21 CB.

Rating = 7

6. DM = Vincent Kompany:

Didn't really seem to settle today, and looked shaky in various occasions. However, he did stop Everton's second best goal opportunity and proved he still has the quality to produce first-class peformances in high profile matches.

Rating = 6

7. CM = Gareth Barry:

After Hughes signed Barry as his last signing before he left, Barry peformed very well on his debut match and produced a peformance which should see him retain his CM position for the majority of the season.

Rating = 7

8. CM = Nigel De Jong:

Outstanding peformance from Nigel De Jong, and he was on another level in comparison to other Central Midfielders in the game. Top class peformance from the Dutch international, and he will definitely feature in MCFC's next match.

Rating = 8

9. CF = Marcus Berg:

World-Class peformance on his debut and has definetly won the approval of all MCFC fans worldwide. The Swede took both goals fantastically and proved to the footballing world he is one of the hottest prospect of modern times.

Rating = 9

Man Of The Match

10. Right Wing = Elano:

Slightly lacklustre peformance from Elano, and apart from the pass which set up Marcus Berg's opening goal, Elano didn't show much effort and will to win. Shaun Wright Phillips is said to be knocking on the door for his position.

11. Left Wing = Robinho:

The richest Winger in World Football produced a fairly average peformance, and even though he didn't produce anything world-class to his normal standard, his presence certainly helped scare the Merseyside opposition.

Speculation mounts over Robinho's future

Various speculation is all contrubuting to whether the future of Brazilian star, Robinho is uncertain at the City Of Manchester Stadium. Robinho, who has never shown any signs of being unsettled after signing from Real Madrid in the 08/09 season in a record-signing transfer deal, is apparently looking to further his career somewhere else and he feels that his talent are being wasted at the Mancunian outfit. However, Robinho has yet again stated publically on his official website that he is 100% committed, and any deal with him involved, is for the time-being not true. Reports have said Selby is looking to cash in on the Winger who would provide cash resources to bolster areas of the squad which are weakened.

However Selby has also condemned these reports, stating them to be un-true and made up media nonsense. Selby stated that Robinho is an integral part of the club, and similar to what Robinho stated that if there is any deal being planned, he and Robinho are both unaware. Selby also stated he would love to keep Robinho at the club for as long as possible, and that the Brazilian in partnership with fellow players in the club provide a very dangerous attacking force and an overall positive impact on the team squad. Selby also finished by stating Robinho is a role-model to younger members of the MCFC academy, and that if he even considers moving on elsewhere, he has to think of the reception from the public, but most importantly the fans and the players. This story is certainly one to keep interested in.

Liverpool have bid Accepted for Robinho

After an outcry from the Brazilian stating that he didn't know whether he'd be playing at MCFC next season. talks began with Merseyside outfit Liverpool and overnight, an offer apparently using cash, and a player in part exchange has been accepted by Selby and the MCFC board of directors. As much as Selby wanted to keep Robinho at the club, to sell him was according to Garry Cook 'in the club's best interests', and it also provides valuable cash resources which can be used to bolster the squad in the defensive and the attacking options. Robinho is set to travel to Liverpool later day to participate in a vigorous medical examination.

The press now are questioning which player that it could be that is to move to Manchester City in part exchange. According to various sources it's believed that Selby wants a forward or winger in exchange to replace Robinho along with a large amount of cash which can be put to good use to bring in a strong striker and defender, and a young, prospectful midfielder. Selby in a press conference on the issue of Robinho said, i've done what i feel is necessary in the best interest of the club in the long term. Robinho is a world-class player, and i'm sad to see him leave, however i feel for the best interest of the club is for him to continue his career elsewhere. Robinho was unavailable for comment.

Marseille have second offer turned down for Robinho

Even though Robinho is set to seal the deal at Liverpool, other clubs are still in talks with Manchester City over purchasing Robinho. However, in the last few minutes, Southern France outfit Marseille have had a very strong offer turned down, hence showing their commitment to Liverpool and their offer. The deal set to include cash, along with two players in part exchange was turned down and Marseille at set to continue their hunt for a winger elsewhere. Marseille have not commented on the situation, however French press close to the club have stated they are dissapointed on missing out on the World-Class Brazilian winger.

Robinho who finished the 2008/2009 season as third top scorer in the league campaign, only yesterday commited his future to the Mancunian outfit, however Liverpool's offer was too tempting for the Blues to accept, and was accepted because it was in the best interests of the club. Local Media now understand that the deal is set to be completed with Liverpool within the next few hours, and bookmakers accross Liverpool and Manchester are taking bets on who is the most favourable player to leave in the part-exchange deal, with Dutch winger Ryan Babel and Dirk Kuyt being highly tipped to be putting on the Blue jersey and being announced at the City Of Manchester Stadium, later today.
