John Fleck , The Scottish Wayne Rooney?

The 17-year old Scot played his first Old Firm Derby in February after impressing in three or four Rangers games after breaking into the side in January. The left footed winger/ forward became the youngest-ever player to play in and win a British Cup final when he came on as a sub for Rangers in their 2008 Scottish Cup triumph over Queen of the South, aged just 16.

Fleck made his first start for Rangers against Falkirk in January and was named man of the match before scoring his first goal for the club two weeks later as Rangers beat Dundee United as the youngster was again named man of the match.

There has already been speculation that Fleck will be called up to the full Scotland squad for their World Cup qualifiers.

His last rating change he went up 4 which was the last time the Scottish ratings came around, I predict he will easily become a 90+ before hes 23.

hahah fleck will never be the same as aiden mcgeady unfortunetly

i remember when aiden mcgeady first came into the celtic first team, they (commentators etc..)excused his lack of a consistent final product because of his age and last year they where still using the same excuse(6 seasons on), people are already starting to realise he is never going to have an end product to match his dribbling skills. the ''hes still young'' excuse is becoming more and more rediculous as hes now 23 and nothings showing yet, mcgeady although good is nothing special or lets face it he wouldn't still be at a SPL club he would have been sold down to an big English team .

Fleck is young enough to still greatly improve and its about time the money spent on murray park started returning some players with a lot of potential, don't think he will hit the heights of Rooney but he definatly has a pile of talent and i hope its developed in the right way for the sake of rangers and the Scottish national team.

Another trait he has in common with mcgeady? disrespecting people who are there to help him, the difference between him and mcgeady is hes 17 and mcgeadys 23? he is still a kid and has time to learn from it and add too his game, between now and the age of 30 mcgeadys going too add very little too his game, im not saying mcgeadys bad i am just saying in 5 years he will still be able to get to the byline with the ball and take the ball round a player (in the SPL)and deliver a terrible cross or blast the ball wide the majority of the time

There was a similar indecent with Kris Boyd last season and McCoist was a big enough man not to blow it out the water and it was dealt with properly by Smith and himself. I Suspect Fleck needs a boot in the butt and Walter smith is the correct man to do it! Maybe pre-season in northern Ireland with the under 19's instead of taking part in the emirates cup will be just what he needs to learn although hes a promising player he has achieved nothing yet.
