I think Pablo Aimar should definitely get a raise' date=' he is back at the Argentina National Team after a long spell without being called..

He is also playing really well for Benfica, as well as Saviola..[/quote']

Agreed, I suggest exactly that in my latest update on Benfica.

Ah, DP! :P

I know that you're the authority on the Portuguese League, so i need some advice: Coentrao or Orlando Sa, I've secured a deal for Pique for £8m, but I have to include one of those two unfortunately...

Thanks a million mate, I'm slightly edging towards giving Sa away; but i'm sure you'll have a better idea as to what to do. Thanks mate! :D

Right now Fabio Coentrao seems a better prospect. And Orlando Sa hasn't played due to his injury, so Coentrao is also a better money-maker, should you decide to sell him eventually. Give Sa away. It is worth it when Pique is coming your way in the same deal.

Derby Power - as you're pretty much the voice of Portuguese football on here, who should i get out of Falcao and Oscar Cardozo, both have had outstanding starts to the season. I'm leaning towards Falcao as Porto play in the CL but Cardozo is 1 rating higher. Who would you go for?

Falcao, definitely. He is younger, cheaper in most setups, you will have him on a ~20k wage contract even after his rise to 90 while Cardozo will always have a ~50k contract, Falcao plays, like you refer, on the Champions League... The only pro for Cardozo is that he has one more goal scored than Falcao, which doesn't make a difference anyway.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Disscusion Thread

surely it'd be more like 4 or 5 times a year?

8 weeks' date=' 8 weeks, summer rating change 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 8 weeks, winter rating change 6 weeks = 44 weeks[/quote']

SM don't go through the changes that quickly. For example, previous changes for England have happened roughly in this time span:

October 2008

April 2009

Predicted next change: November/December 2009

what are your thoughts on bruno pereirinha of sporting' date=' hes played a fair bit hasnt he? a rise to 87/88? and is he still gonna be a RM/CM?[/quote']

Yes, he will keep his position. At most, he would change to RM/RB. As for his ratings, it seems unlikely that he will rise to 88. 87 would be fine, be he still needs to play some more time.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Disscusion Thread

Porto will play in the Portuguese Cup tomorrow and 8 youth players have been called:

Bosingwa

Abdoulaye

David

Dias

Sérgio Oliveira

Claro

Alex

Yero

Among these, Yero is the only one I was able to add to the database so far, so there might be some new additions, provided they play, of course. Abdoulaye, Yero, Alex and Sergio Oliveira are perhaps the most talented one's, with Abdoulaye and David having the highest possibilities of starting the game tomorrow. Yero should come in as a sub. I shall follow this game carefully and report it later.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Disscusion Thread

DP, have Braga already set a club record for the best start to a season, & the most consecutive games won ?

Also who has been the most outstanding player for Braga so far,

I was a big fan of Hugo Viana when he had a short spell with Newcastle..he was a phenominal prospect a few years ago, can he return to that level with this team ?

What's the league record for the longest undefeated run ?

Yup, 7 straight victories is not only the best start ever for Braga but also the club's record in most consecutive games won ever. As for the league's record, Porto owns it I believe, with 12 or 13 straight victories. I could be mistaken though.

Hugo Viana has been phenomenal, I seriously think he will be playing in one of the Big Three Portuguese clubs next season. Valencia doesn't want him, so a negotiation would be easy to achieve. I bet on Sporting or Porto. However, Viana hasn't been the MVP in Braga. That award so far has to go to Alan, who single-handedly has decided 3 games for Braga already.

Do you think Viana can get back into international recognition? If I don't remember wrongly, he was touted as a decent talent some time back, earning around 20 plus caps by the age of 23, which is a decent statistic. What happened to him since then?

Glad to see him now back playing well for for Braga, do you think he has an outside chance of a rise to 88? Unlikely I'm thinking, as he has no NT footie now and Alan has to rise too if Viana does.

Thanks

The reason why he was left out of the NT is obvious: if he didn't play in his club, which was Valencia, there was no chance that he could play in the NT. But I am sure he will make a comeback. After the play-offs for the WC 2010, where Portugal will hopefully qualify, players like Varela, Hugo Viana, Ruben Micael, etc. will all be given opportunities to show themselves in Friendlies.

Hugo Viana is rated 85. A rise to 88 is way too much in one jump for a club like Braga. 86/87 is my prediction. Alan should rise to 88, and it is deserved. As for the other important players, Eduardo is now a starter in the NT so he should rise to 89 and Vandinho has been instrumental in the midfield and must rise +1 as well.

hey' date='what are the chances of veloso keeping his rating?

i just want to make sure he won't drop..and will he stay a DM?

thanks:)[/quote']

I was thinking on a rise actually. He regained his old form and was called back for the National Team too, even scoring one goal. 90/91 is my prediction. He will keep his DM position, but he will change from DM/CB to DM/LB.

Thanks. I forgot that he is a 85 :o I've got one more question if you don't mind. Will Celestino and Jean-Paul Yontcha of Belenenses rise? :)
