Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

LOL' date=' played 3 serbian players in the match for Benfica, and only two of them started, so it looks like same old south american dream team to me... Porto doesn't have any thing like that...[/quote']

Weel yes, more south americans than others, but also some Portuguese like Licá, Josué. Benfica still has Ruben Amorim. Sporting CP have more portugueses with Rui Patricio, Soares Cedric, William Carvalho, Adrien, André Martins, Wilson Eduardo, but of course because of the new policy.

Not saying that Benfica is an example to any team, because its not, far from it, its actually disgusting their current management, all parts of it. But when a guy that supports a club that has practically the same amount or even more foreign players in their squad than the team he just make fun of, its actually ridiculous.

Benfica's portuguese players: Paulo Lopes, Mika, André Almeida, Silvio, Steven Vitória, André Gomes, Ruben Amorim.

Porto's portuguese players: Josué, Tiago Rodrigues, Licá, Varela, Ricardo Pereira.

But who's counting...

And i know that sporting has many portuguese players in their squads, and thats very good. But they are broke, and they basically have to play with what they have in their academies, and thats mostly Portuguese players. But their acquisitions were mostly foreigns ones too.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

Whats that list for??

Last year I did the same, it's a list of players that could surprise this season, play a lot, have good rises, be players to watch in the future. All in all, players that I think will be successful.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

But when a guy that supports a club that has practically the same amount or even more foreign players in their squad than the team he just make fun of, its actually ridiculous.[/quote']

1 - Sporting CP also had a disgusting policy, buying pounds of players each every year, similar situation to Barcelona years ago before they started so make their squad solid. Thats why Sporting CP is where he is now. Wrong management and awful signings.

2 - I wasn´t making fun of Benfica, in fact, in last year season, Sporting only had Rui Patrício consistently in the starting 11 and i like i said, Sporting have now more portugueses because of the current situation. But Sporting always had more portuguese than Benfica and FC Porto in the starting 11. How many times SL Benfica played without Portuguese? FC Porto only had João Moutinho. Sporting still had Patrício, Cédric, André Martins, Adrien Silva, Ilori in some games, already in "crysis situation". So don´t tell me Benfica has the same amount of national than Sporting CP, thats quite ridiculous of you.

Benfica's portuguese players: Paulo Lopes, Mika, André Almeida, Silvio, Steven Vitória, André Gomes, Ruben Amorim.

Porto's portuguese players: Josué, Tiago Rodrigues, Licá, Varela, Ricardo Pereira.

But who's counting...

Most of them aren´t part of the starting 11. Paulo Lopes is the 3rd GK, Mika never played in the main squad consistently, Steven Vitória another one to be loaned. If you count on B team players, Sporting CP has many more.

Lets see final matches:

Benfica - Ruben Amorim.

FC Porto - Licá, Josué, Ricardo Pereira.

Sporting CP - Patrício, Cedric, Adrien, William Carvalho, André Martins, Wilson Eduardo.

As you can see, Benfica barely doesn´t play portugueses, cause i don´t think Ruben Amorim will start that often.

And i know that sporting has many portuguese players in their squads, and thats very good. But they are broke, and they basically have to play with what they have in their academies, and thats mostly Portuguese players. But their acquisitions were mostly foreigns ones too.

Like i did said to you. Final words: I didn´t made fun of SL Benfica, i was just pointing out the facts and show my enjoying seeing Sporting CP composed by mainly players from Youth Academy and national.

i wasn't talking about you mate, i was talking about derby power comment that i quoted.

ok, mika and paulo lopes may not feature much, but paulo lopes starts in cup and in league cup matches so he does count.

Steven Vitoria future is still be seen, as he may even stay in the squad.

André Gomes and André Almeida featured quite a bit last season and i expect them to play this season also.

I expect Silvio and Amorim to play quite a bit also.

So, i just don't get all those exclusions, thats all. Just because they are not important players doesn't mean they may as just be disregard as benfica's portuguese players.

And yes, its good that Sporting has many portuguese and youth players, but lets see what kind of results with those players, lets talk again in christmas.

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

Porto is playing some very good football, the best I've seen since 2011.

Amazing how they started Licá and Josué today and were still unstopppable, just amazing this depth in squad.

Quintero is better than James.

I have the same feeling, that he IS now better tham James, in the present.
