Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

Argentinian CB Torsiglieri joins the team' date=' costing 3 million Euros, paid to his former club Velez.[/quote']

Intrigued by this signing. Saw Torsiglieri a bit last season and was hoping to see a lot more of him this coming term due to the inevitable departure of Otamendi, yet Torsiglieri's gone and moved on before him! He'd already been protracted as Otamendi's replacement, so him moving on so soon is somewhat of a surprise to me, but I'm pleased he's gone to a club like Sporting - it should be a very good move for the lad and I look forward to hearing about his progress from your good self DP. Any word on what sort of impact he may or may not make this coming season? I can't see him dislodging Carrico and Polga immediately, to be honest (as well as anyone else I may be forgetting).

On the GK issue' date=' I'm yet to understand why Sporting doesn't use Stojkovic... he is better than Patricio and he is already under contract - no need to spen a couple of kilo on an extra GK.[/quote']

And are you serious?!?! The guy was truly, truly awful at Wigan last season (that is the same guy, right?).

Carrico may be sold so Sporting could back up all those moneys they've been/are going to spend on the new players that are coming this summer. Polga isn't to favoured by Sergio, and he is currently being tested by Sergio to see if Polga is the right man for Sporting next season. Sporting just turned down an offer from Internacional, so it's a fifty-fifty chance Polga is staying with Sporting for the next season.

LOL! 8' date='5 million euros for Atletico's third GK... I keep getting amazed with Benfica's signings. Where do they get the money? No wonder they have 500 million euros on debts + the mortgage on their sponsorship with Sagres until 2020...[/quote']

Great keeper though, but come on, 8.5 for the third-keeper, what?! His value cannot have rosen so much since he impressed during his loan-time at Zaragoza this 2nd half of this past season.

I was surprised myself. I have a decent all-round knowledge on the Argentinian league, and I never expected Sporting to fetch a CB there, let alone Torsiglieri... I am quite curious on him. In fact, I'm already planning in buying him for the majority of my SM teams. He will literally walk into the starting XI, given his current internal opposition, and thus I'm expecting no less than a +5 next ratings change.

Yup, you will hear from him in my main thread, guaranteed.

On a side note, Polga was miserable this season. He should leave Sporting. Carrico on the other hand was one of the few players which were able to stand out in the team. He might leave, since Sporting desperately need some heavy kilos in their account. Trust me, Torsiglieri's place is as good as a season ticket.

Really? He seemed fine in the few occasions where I saw him play, either with Sporting or with the Serbian NT...

Agreed. But it doesn't really matter, in 3 or 4 months time Benfica will sell half of his rights to the elusive Benfica Stars Fund for 6 or 7 million euros... Some seriously nasty money laundering is going on here... The Camorra would be proud.

Also, Atletico Madrid are becoming specialists in delivering paquetóns to Portugal. First Pongolle, now Roberto... And their aficionados are asking to send Simao in the same mold... Bah.

Well he played a fair bit this year as Velez played their reserves in the league a lot in the Clausura due to them concentrating on the Copa Libertadores, and Torsiglieri always seemed solid. Was just reading that Sporting have slapped a 30ME release clause in his contract, which would back up your view that he's a protracted starter. So taking into account he was already looking at a +3/4 from his playing time at Velez this year, a +5 next time around seems bang on. I already have him in a fair few GC's as I already foresaw him as Otamendi's replacement, but now he's a real hot buy.

Yeh, he made numerous really, really bad mistakes at Wigan and he always looks like a disaster waiting to happen for me. Maybe I've just seen the very worst of him.

Also, while I'm here, I've been reading that Benfica are interested in signing James Rodriguez, although so are Espanyol and CSKA Moscow, and Juventus and Udinese have been linked for god knows how long (although that interest might have died a death now, from those last two clubs).

Yes, I also had that idea on Torsiglieri: discreet, but solid and competent CB. Much like Porto's Rolando, except Torsiglieri is younger, a few cm taller and left footed. I hope he adapts well, he seemed like a humble guy in the interviews he gave.

Or maybe I've just seen the best of him. :P

Well, maybe the PK he saved against Germany influenced my opinion too much.

I know, Benfica made an official 5 million bid for James... That's bad news. He is in my list of Argentinian league players which I don't want to see in Portugal not wearing blue... :o

Hopefully the deal won't go through, although I have admit it would be great for his career to play at Champions League level.

Hi DP' date='

Do you still rate Rui Fonte and Adrien Silva of Sporting CP? :)[/quote']

Adrien Silva is flopping, sadly. There isn't that excitement around him any more. He should be loaned out, but I'm not sure... I'd sell him, honestly. I can't see him get past 86 over the next two ratings change, so it won't be worth the trouble.

Rui Fonte is a classy footballer. I'm still expecting that he plays in a club enough to get his rise to the low-80's. Keep him... for now. Follow his progress in the main thread after I start updating it again, if you feel up to it.

Thanks mate, shame about Adrien Silva. Fonte sounds promising enough, will keep an eye on your main thread then. Well is Pereirinha still progressing well enough? :o

Pereirinha will join Braga on loan. He should do well. Oh, and earlier this morning it came to public that Adrien is moving to Israel. A loan move to Maccabi Haifa, to be more precise.

I'm trying to buy Fábio Faria' date=' but the negotiation is being tough..

How much should i spend on him?

At what value should i give up??I'm at 6.5M right now

Thanks in advance:)[/quote']

6.5 million? Way too much... It's too early to tell if he will be able to handle himself in Benfica's squad, and chances are he won't make it to the starting XI regularly. Personally I'd never buy him now, but even if I did, I would never go more than half million above the chairman value

Di Maria 90 >> 89/88 > 87 now that he is at madrid :D

Let's not exaggerate... But my chips are more in the "flop" than the "success" TBH. ;)

And on a small side note, it seams that Real Madrid bought Di Maria for the same price they sold Robben. LOL.

Fabio Coentrao - 87 -> 89 -> 90? :D

one of the best lb's in the wc atm, has been really good at both defending and attacking, as it its already been said he will almost certainly hit 89 if he keeps up his good form an then has a chance of going to 91!

Re: PORTUGAL – 1st and 2nd Division extensive thread - Discussion Thread

DP' date=' a quick question. How does Uniao Leiria's attack look for next season, and their team in general? They got one of my boys on loan from Brazil for this season (à la Kleber) and I'm wondering if he'll get a chance to shine?[/quote']

Leiria need to cash in some of their players in order to raise some funds. Cassio should leave to Romania, and Carlao to Germany... At least one of them will leave, if not both. So that makes room for one more striker in the first team.

Out of curiosity, who is the player in question?

Anderson Lessa. A bundle of speed who works hard and has proven he can finish, despite not being the most skilled player around. Has struggled with injuries and is looking for a fresh start.

Really? Anderson Lessa is moving to Leiria on loan? Interesting... I still have him in my teams ever since his first rise.

Looking at Leiria's remaining attacking players, I'd say Lessa will walk into the XI if one of the aforementioned player leaves. He could be one to watch this year in the Portuguese League.

I'm told it was officialized yesterday. He has always been one of my favourites, but the move to Cruzeiro was a horrible one. At least Cruzeiro are now showing a desire to give their kids a chance on loan (Lessa, Bernardo at Goias and Dudu at Coritiba). It'll all depend on if he stays healthy in Portugal I guess. Hoping all goes well for him.

And, for the record, that 32 goals in 28 games was in the U20 Pernambucano state league. Not exactly the Brasileiro :P

Nice. I'll surely keep an eye on him. Who knows, if he succeeds in Portugal he may end up doing a Kleber-type transfer move. :)
