Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Milito was playing for Argentina as well as scoring goals for fun' date=' whereas Moretti's never played for Italy (and I don't regard him highly, personally), so I'm not sure I agree with Tom Erdenay that the guy can keep his 91, Europe or no Europe. :o

Mathieu's very highly regarded by some of our fellow forumers who follow Ligue 1 regularly, like [i']Didi[/i]. If I recall correctly, he was of the opinion that Mathieu was technically good, quick and superb in attack, and is a dead ball specialist also.

Fernandes is experiencing pain in that foot because the metal plate inserted during the surgery to treat the injury has been touching a nerve (literally). This has been happening on occasions ever since he got a blow to the foot during training, according to a report I read somewhere. :(

Well, we will see about Moretti, but discussion is pointless atm , till the season hasn't started. It all depends only from the player.

If everything you said is true about Mathieu , then it seems as we've got a very good LB.

And to be honest, I haven't heard anything about Fernandes lately (after his injury), just remember that he was suppose to be back for the start of this season.

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Valencia won 2-0 against Arsenal. Villa and Michel scored, although Villa also missed a penalty (not sure if it was a pen though lol).

Michel seems wonderful and I really think that he will be one of the best this season and will be a "certain discovery" like Mata was last season.

Nice. I'm hoping Michel steps it up this year and becomes a regular in central midfield.

Tom, if you watched the game, how was Mathieu's performance? I heard he got skinned in the previous game by Antonio Valencia, against ManU?

I've only saw the ending, to be honest. And I'd hate to provide some bad info for you, so I suggest finding some else :(;)

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Valencia - Sevilla atm. Still 0:0.

http://atdhe.net/8998/watch-valencia-cf-vs-fc-sevilla <--- link to the match (if anyone wants)

Impressive : Pablo Hernandez, Sonko, Marchena (so far).

What a match! Already some blood, a sub and a fury of chances!

Banega has been pretty impressive as well.

Alexis and Moya are looking solid as well.

EPIC game. Valencia should've been in front, but tney've failed. Kanoute got a red card.

GOOOOOOOOOOAL. 1-0 Valencia leading after Mata's goal.

Some more great build-up by Valencia, but still 1-0.

Still 1-0, but Valencia look very good. Marchena subbed out for Albelda. If I'm not mistaken, Villa will get the captain's armband.

Sevilla players continue to do everything, that there would be a lot of injured players in Valencia team. Fabiano off, Kone on.

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAL! 2-0. Pablo Hernandez - beautiful goal. 2nd assist of the game for Banega.

Negredo looked pretty well and had a pretty decent chance.

Michel on, Silva off.

2:0 - final result. Valencia take the 3 points in a great match.

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

It seems Valencia's machine started to get some problems as they've lost 3-1. However, Getafe today was simply brilliant (at least from what I've seen). While their defence sometimes did falter, but they played very entertaining attacking football. Set pieces were also brilliant.

I was really impressed by Matheiau - such a big guy, but he was great at both attack and def (his technique was also quite impressive). Silva also had a great match. While Villa did score one, he should've scored much more. Not at his best.

All in all, Getafe won deservedly, but with all the chances that Valencia had, they probably should've been at least tied. Also, the last 15 minutes looked very nice, although Getafe did have some counter-attacks, which could've ended as goals.

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Valencia 0 - 0 Barcelona

Even thought it was only, 0-0, it should've been at least 2-0 or more. Valencia were a much better team and even with the terrible reffereeing and Barca's player antics they've played superbly.

The only Barca's players who looked well were Pique (super defending), Puyol (although he dived a lot and did a lot of rash things), Yaya Toure was pretty decent. Iniesta and Xavi were decent, not we're used to see much more from them. Valdes was very SOLID  and would be a MoM contender. Messi was anonymous for the 45 min and did very little in the 2nd half as well. Alves was TERRIBLE and annoyed me the whole game. If not the referee, he would've been sent off. Terrible. And his antics... When Bojan came, Barca looked better, but still not as usual Barca we're used to.

Almost everyone in Valencia were great (maybe except Albelda). While Cesar had 1 bad moment, otherwise he was solid. Defence looked quite well and midfield as well. Mathieau played as winger and he didn't disappoint. Pablo was very good, but he wasted a lot of chances. Silva once again showed why he was pursued so much and he is worth of 94+ :) Mata wasn't at his best, but he did have his moments. Albelda was way too rash (just like almost everyone of Barca's) and made too much mistakes.

On a scale of 1-10 , I'd rate Valencia 9, Barca 6, referee - 3.

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Canizares was voted as the best GK in the history of Valencia! Bravo and well deserved!

On the other note, Valencia seem to be doing just fine at the moment at they're still in the 4th place, thus meaning they're still in UEFA Champions League brackets.

As for transfers, there is a very big possibility, that Vicente, Miku, Del Horno will leave. However, I don't expect big purchases neither into nor out of Valencia, due to their bad financial situation (no players into) and the current league position, reluctance to sell from the president and style (no main players out).

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Villa is great player .

Silva too .

Mata and the others .

They have perfect Squad .

Hope they will finish in 4 or 3 .

And the best part is that a huge majority of their squad is Spanish (quite a bit of them are home grown too). Lovely atmosphere both in the stadium and in the team with the club finally stabilizing. I completely agree and I hope that maybe (with slim chances) they could even finish higher ;) (but 3rd and 4th are complete realistic)

Read rumors linking Soldado with a move to Valencia. Will this mean that Villa is on his way out? Valencia did well to keep Silva, Villa and Mata in the last transfer window. But I feel one of them is sure to leave either this winter window or in the summer before the WC.

With the team they have now, they surely can challenge for the 3rd/4th place. But its important that they remain consistent. Also, they may have a chance in the Europa League.

I'm pretty confident that NO ONE will leave in winter (at least the important ones). Since Valencia signed Dominguez, I'm not quite sure if there's a lot of truth in those rumours with Soldado as Valencia usually play with only 1 forward and he's Villa. Right now they also have Zigic, Miku and Dominguez, so I don't think that Soldado would want to come to warm the bench (although Zigic and Miku might leave).

As for La Liga and Europa League, I predict they'll finish 4th in La Liga and hopefully, will win Europa League :o

Re: The Official Valencia C.F. Thread

Zigic finally breaks down Espanyol! Few tears dropped from my eyes when he scored that and went on to celebrate. You could see how much that meant him for him. I think he really loves this club and he was absolutely overjoyed having scored the winner at the 3rd minute of added time. Amazing game (even though I've missed most of the 1st half).

These are the ratings that I'd give from what I've seen:

Espanyol

Kameni - 9.5 Man of the match. Absolutely amazing and he saved his team from being crushed by 4 or more goals. A true leader and a true general, who rallies his troops even when they're being badly crushed. He had no chances neither with Villa's header (post) nor Zigic's header (far corner).

Espanyol's defence - 5.0 Sadly, but they didn't shared their goalkeepers commitment and were badly beaten time, over time, over time. Joaquin, Villa, Zigic and co destroyed them.

Espanyol's midfield - 6.0 Pretty much the same as defence, although there were few bright sparks (one almost ended as a goal too). However, Rancaglia earns a 7.5 as he was the most dangerous Espanyol's player and almost a scored a very good goal.

Espanyol's forwards - 4.0 Completely uninspiring. What happened to that Luis Garcia guy, who used to be a driving force along with Tamudo? Callejon was the better of the two, but still not much to boast about.

Espanyol's subs - 5.0 Didn't change the game too much, although Nakamura did looked decently.

Valencia

Cesar - 6.0 Didn't had too much to do, but didn't look very assured few times when Espanyol fought back

Valencia's defence (except Bruno) - 7.0 Never too troubled, they played quite well. Not too sure, but Navarro might have been denied a good penalty (I'd need to see the replay again), Alexis was quite solid, Miguel was energetic and put a lot of effort in but his crossing was off.

Bruno - 8.0 Bruno hasn't been very solid when playing LB, but today was completely different. Broke down so many attacks and provided to midfield also quite well. A very good display.

J. Alba - 6.5 Played about 55 minutes. It was a decent display. He had a one on one chance with Kameni, but didn't end in the end. Should have a bright future ahead of him

Banega - 7.0 Nothing too flashy, but distributed the ball well. Yellow card was very just.

Albelda - 6.5 Pretty much the same as Banega, although Banega was more effective at going forward. Broke down few good attacking moves

Joaquin - 9.0 A complete beast and along with Villa, he was the best player from Valencia. He dribbled through his side with ease using his body and his pace with trickery to make Espanyol's defenders life a complete nightmare. He has been threatening the whole night a created a number of chances for both himself and his teammates. Also, he proved the assist for Zigic's goal.

Mata - 6.5 He hasn't been the same after his new contract. His set pieces weren't too good today and he didn't impose himself as he should have.

Villa - 8.5 Whoever thinks that he doesn't get involved in the build-up and and also whoever thinks he's at least in the top 3 strikers at this moment, is totally wrong. He was amazing tonight and the brilliant Kameni and ,unfortunately, the post stood between him and celebration of the goal (well, celebration of his own goal :P). A superb display from his captain.

Subs: Zigic - 8.5 Gave his side a very needed physical pressence and was dangerous through-out the 2nd half. Also, scored a winning header at 93rd minute. Not much you could ask more from your substitute. A great display and it's his bad luck, that Valencia play 1 striker and that that striker is David Villa.

Marchena and M. Fernandes - 6.5 Nothing too flashy, but blended in play well and worked hard for Valencia to be able to win the game.

The referee - 9 Got almost every decision spot on, although probably missed a penalty and sent Zigic out of the field (and kept him there for like 3 mins) for no apparent reason (or at least I didn't saw one)

I'm off to watch Barca game (watching it while I was writing this). Pedrito again :o Dang, Barca are in league of their own. Where do they get all those talents that learn to play like that?! :o (however, ref is on their side at this game)
