Re: English Championship 106 - Youth Competition Discussion Thread

How will it work. I have an idea, a couple of groups, depending on interest. The friendlies would all have to be worked out, rather than as is needed, to avoid any controversey later on. So in a 4 game group, we would have to work out the friendlies on day 1 of the draw. I am happy to send out all my invites straight away, and I hope to be able to accept them that day, or the day after. Second thing, how will you work out the seeds. The easiest way is by looking at averages. But I will be looking to loan out a lot of players next season, as will other teams, so I would be interested to see how it will pan out. Anyway, good luck with it.

i'm open to suggestions.

i'm thinking(depending on interest) a mini cl.

mabye 20 teams

4 groups

5 teams per group

play each other once or twice

first 2 from each group qualify automatically.

that's 8 teams which = QF

what do you think??

It would have to depend on the numbers. I am sure you will get 25 to 30 teams. Give it time, and then you will have a better idea. You don't want top heavy groups, with lots of 85+ players, and groups with only 75 rated players. You should give it time.

We might do a rating cap.

we should workout all the friendlies on day 1

and when will we start it?

Give it a couple of matches in, so people can buy/sell/loan out who they need before the start of the cup games. A rating cap would be a good idea, as teams only have young players who are very high rated.

Re: English Championship 106 - Youth Competition Discussion Thread

Just to say about the rating cap, i currently have 14 youth players(tho will likely sign more) but if the cap comes in at least 4 of them will be inelligble leavin me with only 10 players makin my team inelligible. So i would either advise against the cap or would like some kind of exception in place. Cheers

I dont think that there should be a rating cap as it means that the bigger teams like Man utd and Blackburn wont be able to join as they normally buy better youngster compared to the lower teams as they have the money to snap up the better youngsters.

Re: English Championship 106 - Youth Competition Discussion Thread

I would rather there not be a cap, but put the teams with higher rated youngsters together. Here's my eligible youngsters

18

Jack Rodwell

Danny Welbeck

19

Kieran Gibbs

Rafael

Kyle Walker

Matteo Darmian

Stevan Jovetic :D

Tomas Necid

20

Richard Eckersley

James Tompkins

Lars Bender

Sven Bender

Marko Marin

Jay Simpson

Krisztian Nemeth

David N'Gog

21

Nikolay Mihaylov

Eddie Nolan

Sandro Wagner

22

Joe Hart

Sebastian Pocognoli

Ivan Marcano

Stephen Ireland

Mark Noble

Aaron Lennon

23

Gary Cahill

Also thy'll have to be a rule saying that players under 23 at a certain date are eligible, as they should still be allowed to play if they go up to 24 during the competition. You will have to submit squads at the beginning.

Re: English Championship 106 - Youth Competition Discussion Thread

So far 20 are up for joining if we get 24 i think we have enough. Then we could have 4 groups of 6. and to avoid the rating problem we could put the 6 teams with the best A.R in the first group and the 2nd best 6 teams in the 2nd group etc.. what do you think??

That team would own pretty much any other, even most starting 11's!

Hold up, haven't they got to be 22 or under? not 23.
